Let me tell you, this was the best honeymoon ever. We just knew about this place looking for over the water bungalow. Bora-Bora was too far and in November does not have the best weather. This place is just 90 minutes from Miami or Dallas. You will rent a private Villa, ours over the water ( Casa Ventana ). You will have a private butler, they will take care of you and cloths and everything. They will prepare dinner in different spots, all different, and one even with Mariachi. Fishing, snorkeling or scuba in the second Great Barrier Reef of the world is outrageous.
"Cayo added years back to my life!"

My wife and I went for our first trip to Cayo Espanto in Oct 2013 for our 20th wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived in Belize City, we were taken care of like royalty. Our bags were handled all the way to our villa. We were met by the entire staff along with (2) Espanto Waves (you must try one). We stayed in Casa Solanas which is on the far end of the island. Our seven days on island felt like a lifetime. The staff was at our beckon call for whatever we needed. The solitude of having your entire day to do as you wish is soul cleansing. My wife and I would literally do whatever we wanted to do. The plunge pool is more than ample and the perfect temperature. The food, drinks and service were world class. We booked in villa massages on the day we arrived and the day before we left. Everything was perfect. Cayo is one of those places that you come across in your life where you love it so much that you want to keep it to yourself but it just deserves to be enjoyed by as many people as possible. One of the days we were on island, we were the only guests on the entire island. Erika was kind enough to give us a tour of the other villas so we could be thinking of our next visit and whether or not to bring the kids. Excursions - I would highly recommend "A day at sea with a little luxury" and if you scuba dive, the Great Blue Hole is a bucket list dive. The Great Blue Hole is a full day trip so plan accordingly. It is well worth the time to visit. Bring underwater lights. The jet ski rental was fun also. We took the jet ski over to Blackadore Cay (Leo DiCaprio owns it). Blackadore is still a very native island but there is potential for something great there. In conclusion, we will be back to Cayo Espanto hopefully sooner than later. Our trip there will always hold a special place in my wife and I's hearts. Every vacation should be this great! Thank you Cayo Espanto!!

I just don't have the word to describe our wonderful, fun and exciting, perfect, getaway trip to celebrate our 20th anniversary at Cayo Espanto. . San Pedro was a blast! Staying at the villa one day never leaving our private dock was sooooo relaxing and being completely taken care of by our Houseman Elio and Rick! (Elio I meant it when I said we would love for your family to be our quest in Colo. To see the snow! ). The diving was amazing! Especially with "German" he is my all time favorite dive master ever!!! And thank you Chef Richard for the amazing food! And thank you so much for my " I have something for you" bag! Sweet! Esmeralda the massages were amazing, and funny the last day when my husband was there making all the noise outside, ha! Rosita you are a doll, thank you so much for everything you made possible for us. And thanks to the person who made all the arrangements for our massages and dive trips! Can't wait to go back! Maybe next month with girls! Love all of you, Pam and Tom Russell
"Christmas in Heaven"
We looked everywhere online for a fabulous resort to visit over our holiday break, but could not find anyplace that compared to Cayo Espanto, where we'd gone in July...so we went again! The staff at Cayo Espanto made our Christmas so wonderfully relaxing and special!! The privacy there is our favorite part, but we totally love the pampering and delicious food & drink, too. The chef made us a traditional Christmas dinner, complete with eggnog, just so we wouldn't miss out on that holiday feeling we get at home. Part of me doesn't want to share the secret of Cayo Espanto, because I don't want it to get TOO popular so we can't get reservations next time we want to, but another part wishes that everyone could experience the beauty that is found on this little 4-acre gem in the Caribbean!

We stayed at Cayo for a week in late November, 2013. Our expectations were sky high going into the trip, and I can say without reservation they were greatly exceeded. We had somewhat bad luck with weather (strong winds most of the time and rain on a few days), we still had an amazing experience. We stayed in Casa Manana, which was absolutely amazing. It is very private and has what I would describe as a partial sunset view (by my gauge, the only Casa with a full view of the sunset was Casa Solano). When we go back (not if), we will stay in Casa Manana again. Our housemen were Rick and Larry, and they could not have been better. They did everything within their power to make sure we had the most relaxing week possible (and were never without a drink in our hand). I would strongly recommend requesting Rick and Larry before your visit. We definitely will. Don't forget to bring cash to tip your housemen too! While it's hard to pinpoint one aspect as the biggest "highlight" of the trip, I would have to say the food was without doubt some of the best I've ever had. The soups alone were worth the trip. We did the Air, Land, and Sea package - I would highly, highly recommend it. The helicopter ride to the resort provided some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever take in...and the day at sea was amazing. German and Geronimo were the best guides one could ask for. The fishing was incredible, and I fell in love with spear fishing on the trip (first time I had tried it). The snorkeling was the best I've ever experienced, hands down. We swam with Turtles, sting rays, nurse sharks and saw green eels, crabs, lobsters, and just about every color of fish you could imagine. We don't dive, but the snorkeling is so good I never felt I was missing out on anything by having to stay near the surface. Make sure to go to Shark Ray alley. The resort had 2 other couples while we were there, but it wouldn't matter if the rest of the resort were completely full or empty. It's extremely private. There are some bugs, but we only saw them at night - never once during the day. In my experience, the amount of bugs depends strictly on which way the wind is blowing. If its blowing on your side of the island, you'll have no bugs. I tend to get eaten alive by bugs, but really had no problem - our housemen closed up our Casa early enough and our moquito netting did the rest. I usually have a terrible time with bugs, but they weren't a factor on this trip...at all. If you're looking for a day trip off the island, I would strongly recommend you do one of two things: 1) go into San Pedro, rent a gold cart (which the resort will prearrange for you), and go North to the Palapa Bar. It's a really cool bar, and it shows you the best part of San Pedro. Otherwise, there isn't a ton to see in San Pedro in our experience. Our other recommendation: 2) go to Caye Calker - which is a great little island and a really nice/chill place to burn a few hours if for whatever reason you want to get off Cayo Espanto. It's not cheap, but it's worth the price if you can afford it. My wife and I have had the great fortune of being able to stay at other high end resorts and hotels around the world, and we have never experiened anythign that tops Cayo Espanto. We'll be back, and soon.
"Amazing private island in paradise!"
Wow! I've travelled the world and have stayed in many luxury hotels but I've never experienced the level of service we received at Cayo Espanto. Our "housemen" spoiled us without being too overbearing. They showed up at all the right times. Upon arrival the whole staff was standing on our private dock welcoming us. It made us feel so special! They also had our favorite beverages and a cold towel. I had a couple bloody Mary's and they were excellent! The food was top notch, on par with fine dining restaurants. They scheduled excursions for us (private tour to the ruins and a chartered fishing trip) as well as 2 massages. The massages were performed in the privacy of our own villa. We stayed in Casa Aurora and it was AMAZING! We found out that Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas stayed in our exact villa (among other celebrities). Be prepared to spend a pretty penny but it's well worth it. I highly recommend Cayo Espanto. It will be a trip of a lifetime.
"A Life Time Of Memories"
My Wife and I celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary at Cayo Espanto, and I can tell you without a shadow of doubt, that we had the time of our lives!!! It was absolutely the Best!!! Everything was so perfect and beautiful. But what made our trip truly special was the people... Obed and Brandon were awesome!!! Mrs. Rosita and Mrs. Erica ~ Super!!! Mrs. Esmeralda and Dianelly ~ Best Massage Therapist Ever!! Herman ~ Captain Nemo doesn't hold a candle to this man!!! Chef ~ Every meal was magnificent!!! Best food ever... These people worked their tails off to make everything fall into place so effortlessly. Like it was nothing!!! We chose the Air, Land and Sea Package during our wonderful stay at Casa Olita... I highly, highly, (did I say highly?) yes I did, highly recommend this package. Simply the Best!!! A+++ (Flying with Astrum Helicopter is a unique and great experience on its on). The Day at Sea was one of the funnest days of my life. The snorkeling and picnic were fantastic, it was crazy perfect! As a side note, Casa Olita was amazing. You would just melt in the bed and sheets, it was great. But I believe no matter which Casa you choose they are all great, so don't worry to much about picking one over the other, you will be extremely happy no matter your choice. We also renewed our wedding vows. Mariachi band, candles, beautiful arrangements, you wouldn't believe the details involved ~ it was, as they say UnBelizeable! ~ Another very high recommendation!! If you would like to remember your special moments at Cayo Espanto, It is a must to contact Olivera Rusu Photography and have her drop by and capture your memories. You will not regret it, its one of the best investments I have ever made, she was so much fun. I need not say anymore, just go to her web sight and see for yourself, you will be blown away. I planned for a trip of a lifetime and we got it, felt like we were living in a dream!!! As I watched my Wife shed tears while we were getting ready to leave and she was hugging everyone good bye. I knew I had chosen the best place on Earth to have celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary. Cayo Espanto will forever more have a special place in our hearts. Thank you Cayo Espanto!!! Steve & Julie
"Honeymoon of my dreams"
10/18/13 Lee Ann K Pawnee
My new husband booked this for our honeymoon as a surprise for me. Imagine my surprise when I found out we were spending 5 days on a tropical island with every amenity known to man and service of a quality that I have never experienced before. From the moment we stepped off the plane in Belize City we were met by a representative of the Island who took care of us and made sure we had everything we needed to make the next leg of the trip. When we got off the next plane, Luis (who would be one of our housemen) met us and got us in a taxi and took us to the pier for our boat ride to the island. We were met there Fantasy Island style by all of the "help". They each introduced themselves and we were swept away to our villa, Solana. Solana is on the western most tip of the island and my new husband made sure we had the villa that would give us the best sunsets because they are so special to us. The villa was beautiful, the scenery superb, the food so tasty with a beautiful presentation, the care that was taken of us by our housemen, Carlos and Luis was unmatched anywhere on earth. We could do something or nothing. Most days we chose nothing. It was so nice just to sit and soak up the atmosphere and each other. One day we soaked up too much sun and Luis brought aloe for us to use. We did have an aloe and seaweed massage. It was great for our sunburns and so relaxing. Also, my husband did arrange for a private picnic on a neighboring island. Everything was set up for us, umbrellas, dining table and chairs, places to lay out if we chose to. The island was beautiful and they even swept the sand for us. Lunch was brought with us in a huge cooler as was any drink you could ever want. They gave us a phone and told us to call when we were ready to return. My husband told them my favorite soft drink was Coke Zero and they made sure to supply us with it daily. The chef would visit everyday to go over the dinner menu for the evening and every evening we would be taken somewhere romantic on the island for dinner. The table would be set with candles and flowers, and the Caribbean Sea was just a few steps away. This is the most romantic place in the world and they know how to keep it that way. They are invisible until you want (or need) something and then they seemingly appear out of nowhere. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you want beauty, romance, a "do something or nothing" place to be, then you should visit here. I cannot wait to return. Just to tell you how thoughtful they are ... when we left the island, there they all were again ... lined up to tell us goodbye. I had lamented to my husband the day before that I wished I had asked them for all of the menus that they had presented us with each day so that I could have that "visible" memory. Imagine my surprise when Erica handed us a packed lunch in an insulated bag for our return to the airport as well as each days menu. It was like she read my mind. Love, love, love this place! Talk about how expensive it is if you must, but you can't afford NOT to go there.
"Honeymoon in Paradise"

This is an overdue review! My husband and I are approaching our three year anniversary and naturally we thought about Cayo Espanto. We stayed here in 2010 for our honeymoon and had an amazing time. My husband told me he felt like James Bond the entire time we were there. We stayed at casa solano and the views were breath taking. The food was some of the best we have ever had. The morning pancakes caused my husband to emit a joyful hum while he ate. The amazing attention we received from the staff was unrivaled by any other hotel or resort that we have ever experienced. The excursions that were arranged with the hotel to see the beautiful sights in Belize were top notch - snorkeling on the reef, visiting Mayan Ruins, and zip lining. Also, one day we went fishing with German, a local guide, and we had such a fun time. One day I mentioned to one of the staff that I wanted to see a movie that had recently come out on DVD. That day he went into town bought the DVD and my husband and I watched it on an inflatable 10 foot movie screen. I was so shocked at the steps that he had taken to make us feel like we were the priority. When we tell people about our honeymoon they usually are shocked to hear just how much fun we had at Cayo Espanto. Please look no further if you are planning your honeymoon or a vacation of a life time. We hope to be back one day soon at Cayo Espanto.

We spent 6 days on Cayo Espanto in October 2008. It was the most amazing place with so many special qualities it is hard to know where to start. Our houseman was Obed and his assistant was Rollie and they waited on us hand and foot day or night. When we were up in the mornings I would push the button on the walkie talkie and immediately he would respond, "Yes Mr. Tolman this is Obed, what can I do for you?" I would tell him we were up and they would come and set up a table on our private dock with a plate if fresh fruit and fruit smoothies while we decided what we wanted to have for breakfast. The day would only improve from there. They have a dive master on site for snorkeling or scuba diving adventures. I have my advanced open water scuba and yet with the snorkeling we did there, I saw more wildlife than any scuba diving I have done. If you have ever wanted to be completely pampered then this is a destination you must check out!! We will definitely Return to stay again in the future. Well worth the price even though it is expensive.
