I have stayed here several times and always found it comfortable, convenient and well-priced. In the past I did not rely on wireless as I did this time for iPhone and iPad. The wireless connection, although free, was just terrible and kept cutting out constantly and unpredictably, no matter where in the hotel I used it -- room, bar, lobby, etc. The […] hotel staff are well aware of it and apologetic, but this did not help me. Since I use Skype a lot, and since this was a business trip, I regret that I will not be able to consider this nice hotel again unless/until they bring their wireless network upto a decent standard. Like in many other hotels, rooms at Sofitel in Hamburg become available to arriving guests at 3PM (15:00). Since the hotel advertises to overseas guests (US, Canada, etc.), those guests arrive in the morning hours (my flight arrived at 7:30 AM), I was asked to cool my heels in the lobby from 8:30 am until 3 PM - a very long 6 1/2 hours after a sleepless […] night. Since the flight personnel of my United Airlines flight arrived at the same time as I did, it surprised me that they were promptly given rooms. Where there's a will, there's away . . . After I complained quite a bit, a room was 'discovered' and made available to me before noon. A more guest-friendly hotel would have found a solution to this problem. For example, a room cleaner could have been scheduled to arrive very early to start his or her regular work shift. But there seems to be no such interest in accommodating guests at this hotel. Dining room food was acceptable, with its service above average. A 'Mescaline Salad' is on the menu! Concierge service was limited to eight hours every day, but the concierge was a winner. Read more

Good hotel.. Except The phone was not working. But we did not care. The bed, we asked for queen.. But actually we experienced two beds that were put close to each other. Me or my wife were stuck in a gap in the middle during sleep. That ws not fun.

Just stayed at this hotel and had a fantastic time. If you drive it is right in the middle of town and they have valet parking. It is in walking distance to all different types of attractions plus there is a U-bahn station 200 meters away. The restaurant inside the hotel Ticno had excellent food and service. Now they say some rooms have balconies and I had one but they are only large enough for two people to stand next to each other on. The beds were very comfortable though a kingsize bed in Europe will typically be two beds pushed together. They bathroom was very large with a separate tub and shower. Its a splendid hotel with nice facilities and placed very central in Hamburg. But we are not at all satisfied about the price for breakfast. 26 euros for each person is to much for coffee and bread.

Very cool hotel in near lots of shopping and dining. Traveled in December and there was a fairly large Christmas market set up two blocks from the hotel. This Sofitel is certainly a nice hotel and is very conveniently located near the old town in Hamburg. It is clear, however, that few Americans stay here. I had brought a plug-in voltage converter to use for recharging my cell phone, etc., however it did not fit into the hotel's sockets which were indented and round. After checking several times with […] the desk clerks, who seemed quite annoyed that I would even ask for such a thing, the concierge did find one. This would have been a major problem had he not discovered this as I did check extensively in the shops and there was not one to be found. Please remember to bring your own wall adapters, and bring a selection of them as not all will fit!! Otherwise, the hotel was nice, although I think overpriced. Read more

NO doubt the best Business hotel at the heart of Hamburg. However, oposite some of the rooms was a construction site that made some disturbences in the morning. However, after mentioning that , we were moved to a different room without any further question. Nevertheless, the a wonderful hotel, a great SPA, good services. I shall coe back.

This is an excellent hotel on all counts - except for one major blind spot..... It is brilliantly located, bang in the centre, 2 mins from the Town Hall square, with a fabulously understated yet knowing modern style throughout (think savvy, comfortable elegance in greys and browns rather than tedious ultra-trendy gimmickry), with lovely, lavish breakfast […] (though pricey at 24 euros per person), gorgeous terrace by the canal for anything from a coffee to a proper meal with wine, and overall the comfort, thoughtfulness and generosity of a proper contemporary 5-star.... EXCEPT that the mattresses were an incomprehensible blast from a 60s English B&B past, sagging like a hammock and nigh impossible to sleep on except on one's back (if drunk and/or truly exhausted). After our first night we brought this bizarre, unacceptable oversight to the reception's attention, who, with Germanic coolness said they would address the issue, but we didn't notice any difference on the second night. The next day we left, so didn't pursue the matter further. I hope our room was an exception. I liked this hotel so much on all fronts I would like to return and give it a second chance. Read more

My only complaint is that the price of 29 Euros each for a full Breakfast is extortionate - you can get a 3 course set menu in the Restaurant for 27 Euros! A shame that they see fit to overcharge you - otherwise a superb hotel, and would definitely stay there again.

My partner and I spent a long weekend in Hamburg from October 25th - October 28th. We'd come away for my partner's birthday and because of this the hotel put a complimentary bottle of champagne in our room upon arrival. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. The hotel was excellent and the spa was superb but we couldn't use the sauna, steam room etc because everybody has to go naked. We didn't realise this at first so we wore bathers and we were told that we had to leave if we didn't take our bathers off. Being british, we weren't used to this and are very uncomfortable with it so we couldn't use the facilities […] while we were there which was disappointing as we stayed there for 5 days and it was something we were looking forward to. Its a shame that the guests weren't given a choice. The room was lovely but there was a long glass window between the bedroom and the bathroom so you could see someone on the toilet and also having a shower. Really strange.We tried to work out why they did that and realised that you saw the view from the shower through that window.No privacy at all though. Breakfast is extemely expensive.Try Cafe Paris. We were in a classic room and had no tea or coffee making facilities. In a 5 star hotel I would except tea and coffee making facilities. The bed was very comfortable (as expected) and the facilities and location of the hotel were good.

Loved it. The bed was wonderful everything was wonderful. Would go straight back again. Staff very good and helpful. Only thing forgot that in Germany people use the sauna naked so that took some getting use to. Lots of places to visit close by and places to eat but much quieter at night. Didnt eat in the hotel.

Comfort of room, quality of furnishings etc. excellent. The spa was a little disappointing as no jacuzzi! Very expensive to eat at the hotel so we very successfully went to various cafes and restaurants for breakfast and evening meals. The location was fantastic as easy to walk to all the major sites.

I stayed here with my girlfriend for just 3 nights on a brief visit to Hamburg, but although the stay was short, we managed to get a lot out of the hotel. Upon arriving we were checked in quickly with polite, puntual service. Our room was very tidy, with amenities such as a large HD television, comfortable duvet bed and large shower there. We tried […] out the downstairs swimming area which is just a small affair, but still very tranquil and stylish. One can book a massage there too from the reception for a moderate price. As said, although we spent most of the time outside of the hotel, we did dine in the hotel restaurant and drink most evenings at the bar. Both being very nice indeed and well staffed. Judging by the clientèle, the guests there ranged widely from business people to small families with children, although having said that I would say that overall the hotel seemed to incline more towards couples and professionals as opposed to big families. Great hotel in a fantastic location near to all the sights and shopping. Between the four of us in our party we had booked a single , double and a deluxe. All the rooms were spacious and immaculate. The best part was the decking next to the canal , lovely sitting outside in a city centre hotel and having a few drinks. Will definitley be back.
