Beach was nice, and the Second floor breakfast room had a beautiful sight of East Traverse Bay. It was quiet. The curve in the road just before the hotel is a little treacherous with busy traffic.

Bed was not very comfortable, I think the mattresses could use replacing. Hotel was clean. We were upgraded to a room with a Jacuzzi tub at check in. Breakfast was good. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is great and beach was beautiful. We would definitely stay here again.

Honestly, the only complaint I had was the placement of the bathroom sink. I find it really annoying to have the bathroom sink not in the bathroom with the shower. The sink was in the entrance of the room while the shower and toilet were separate.

Clean and comfortable. The staff was excellent in accommodating to all our needs. They were all very friendly and I would definitely stay here again. I look forward to booking another vacation here and will definitely look for similar rates at this hotel

The Sugar Beach had extremely friendly staff, great amenities and a convenient shuttle to the Marathon start. We loved the pool and the shallow swimming area on the lake. The breakfast bar was also excellent.

We certainly enjoyed our stay at Sugar Beach Resort. The staff were SO friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and nice and the breakfast room had such a lovely view of the bay. The breakfast choices were nice and plentiful. The pool/hot tub and pool area were clean and enjoyable. The breezeway just framed the lake with a breathtaking view day and […] even at the last moments of sunlight in the evening. We were there just before the Memorial holiday weekend and felt like we had our own private beach which was SO relaxing! It was only a short drive to downtown shopping at many great shops, had to run down there several times! Our drive up the penisula to the Old Mission Lighthouse was also relaxing. Our day at Sleeping Bear Dunes was a nice easy drive. Certainly hope to make it back some day and have already suggested this hotel to friends and family! Read more

I was overall very disapointed in this hotel. My friend and I stayed there for the Bayshore Marathon this past weekend. They would not allow us to check in early or even have a hour later check out. We ask the manager to call our room to ask about the late check out, never called. The hotel room was very uncomfortable.....sheets had plastic under them, […] air conditioning was cold, but room was humid, very odd. The room had a musty smell. Very inflexible with the check out time. I was part of the soccer tournament crowd and my daughter made it to the finals. I asked for a 1:00 check out instead of 11:00 and was told no. Sugar Beach was a decent hotel experience for us...we were there in mid-April so obviously we didn't get to fully appreciate the accommodations as much as summer guests would...ie our room was a walkout right onto the beach but being that it was cold and windy during our stay, we didn't get to fully appreciate this feature. Also, what would normally […] be a lovely view was somewhat hindered by the fact that the dock and shore stations were stacked in the line of vision from our room. Obviously these were just factors due to the time of year we were there-the room would be amazingly convenient with a gorgeous view in the summer months. The room was very comfortable, and the microwave and in-room fridge are great features. The pool area was lovely and very clean and well-maintained. One little annoyance...10-11p.m. is clearly stated as adult only pool hours but there were small children in the hot tub area at this time and nobody from the hotel staff asked them to leave (that and one not-too-friendly desk clerk were my reasons for rating the staff at a 3-unfortunate because the other staff were wonderful). The continental breakfast was good, fairly typical of most hotels except for one exception...the waffles, especially with the cherry topping, were outstanding! Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others. Read more

Hotels.com stated the room had a jacuzzi and faced the beach...well, it's not even possible to get a hotel room on the beach through Hotels.com, and the rooms that face the beach don't come with jacuzzis. We decided to take a spur of the moment road trip to Traverse City and were so fortunate to find a room at Sugar Beach. The staff was warm and welcoming and, even though we came in late and had a deeply discounted rate through Expedia, they treated us like their most special guests. They made sure we had the best room available and, when we told them […] it was our first trip to the area, they gave us great information on dining and activities nearby. We were very pleased with our room, too. We travel quite a lot and can be pretty picky but we had a great stay here. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom seemed to have been recently updated and everything was clean and cozy. we have been driving for several hours from NY. We were hoping to check in early. The checkin person was kinda put out, and then offered to help someone looking for a room to check in. This person was taken care of and given a room right away. As we stood there. When we did finally get taken care of we were given a room with a view of th parking lot […] instead of the beach. We then headed up to our room we had a 4 year old with us. so we took her to the pool which was great. After the pool we went back up to our room to let our Grand daughter rest we turned on the TV. Which did not work, we had service men in and out for 45 minutes trying to get the tV fixed they finally did after we went through much time of a crying child who wanted to sleep. The breakfast stated it was top line free breakfast, no scrambled eggs no bacon or sausage, just cerials to choose from and donuts coffee and a small breakfast nook to feed all the guest. We went back to the pool later that after noon and there was soap scum floating on to of the hot tub. It was dirty. The price was right for that time of year however, it was a bit of drive to main downtown. I think we will look to a different hotel next time. Read more

Had the most comfortable King size bed and in the morning we had a wonderful complimentary breakfast with an awesome view. It was the perfect place to spend our 35th anniversary. Would come here again.

This place was beyond our expectations. Clean,comfortable,nicely decorated, and well run!! Breakfast was very good and we appreciated the adult only pool time from 10 to 11pm. We had to wait about five minutes to check into the motel and the staff were very apologetic for even that small amount of time. The rooms are very comfortable with space to move around in and kept very clean.

Usually stay here a number of times throughout the year and have been doing so since they opened. Very comfortable, great staff, good breakfast, great location if you like the water. Only one minor glitch the last two times we have stayed here.......there is apparently a washcloth shortage. Either get only one, or none. My husband and I stayed here during our Mini-moon in the Courtyard King with Spa. Great value for your money. The room with the continental breakfast overlooks the Bay and the beaches are beautiful. Lots of seating available. It's a 5 minute drive to downtown Traverse City and close to all the action. Old Mission Peninsula is close by as well.
