American hotels should study how this establishment trains it's employees. Every employee we came near always greeted us with a smile and a greeting. Everything was nice, especially the on-site gym, but the hotel ran out of maple syrup for a week. So I had to go get my own from the local stores. The logical question is why didn't the kitchen management do that? Waterfront has always been my home when I'm in Cebu. Love that it's close to Ayala mall. Love its free wiFi and sumptuous breakfast buffet. The only thing that is inconvenient is when you want to get a taxi cab (you have to go to the basement level to get one, versus before that you can get a taxi at the hotel lounge level).

They treated us rudely, because we were not dress properly, just our regular denims and short for this is how we dress in America, aside we just arrived from a long travel. There were Koreans who were behind our line and the front desk clerks attended to them leaving us behind. I just waived my hotel reservation that’s why they attended to us. We demanded to speak to the supervisor/manager to complain, but the front desk clerk tried to make alibis that they were unavailable. We waited and demanded to see the manager/supervisor, finally the manager came out and for courtesy they gave us a much better room. I have been traveling to the Philippines for business for 8 years and this was by far the most disappointing hotel experience I have ever had there. General maintenance was the biggest issue. The letters/numbers had been scraped off in the elevator, most of the time during the day the escalators were not operational, there was a flower pot on my floor […] by the elevators that was supposed to be half full of water with flowers floating in it - instead it wound up with candy wrappers and cigarette butts floating. I told the front desk about it one day and the next day there was the same issue. The elevator had slots to insert your key card for security purposes,but they did not work and anyone had access to any floor. Next, the rooms are outdated. My separate shower had exposed pipes, the safe in the room was so old most of the instructions had worn off and would not hold a standard laptop, the bathroom was dark and dingy. There was only one small dresser with two tiny drawers and the closet had only 4 very outdated hangers, one of which was for the robe they provided. Check in was slow and disorganized. Check out was slower and hotel security was far below standard for the Philippines. Hotel staff was rude. One day I sat down in one of the 2 bars that takes up almost the entire lobby for 5minutes to await my ride and the waitress kicked me out. Lobby area under construction so elevator access was difficult. Also closest bathroom was 200 yds from lobby area. Has area around hotel, so blocked from city noise. Close walk to some restaurants. Rooms were nice, TV's were small, but didn't spend much time there. Wireless access was spotty and access in lobby was not free.

Across from IT park, a few blocks from Ayala and the center of Cebu City, this hotel is close to everything. Not too far from SM mall as well. It's a decent middle-of-the-road property. The highlight was the Uno buffet for both breakfast and dinner. The food was fresh and tasty. Service was very good there. They had a selection of sausages from around […] the world and they grilled them right there for you. Lots of other stuff as well. The free wifi was slow but it worked. And the bed was actually pretty comfy. The downside? The guest rooms are old and dated, carpet wearing out, plumbing is pretty aged. My shower head sprayed water everywhere except straight down where I was standing. For about the same price, the Marriott down the street is a much nicer property. Or if you don't mind paying a little more and traveling a little farther, consider Shangri-La or Movenpick on Mactan. Of course none of those have a casino attached, so if you want to gamble you'll probably end up here. Read more
