Shore Hotel - Santa Monica

We only stayed one night, but everything was great. The room was very nice and clean, we had ocean view with a balcony. The location was great, within walking distance of all restaurants, shops and theater. The service was great, including Valet, they were very accomodating. The pool is amazing at night!! I highly recommend this hotel.

I must start off by saying the employees at this Hotel are great. The problem is it is not a luxury hotel. The high cost hotel is due the fact that you are very close to the beach, the pier, shopping, and restaurants. Unfortunately, it's not worth the cost. The pier is absolutely ghetto, the beach is filthy - glass bottles everywhere, and the shopping […] is just Ok (there are bums on every corner). The restaurants are great, but again the cost of the hotel is not worth it. I am fine with paying top dollar if it makes sense. My kids and I just finished hiking up to the Hollywood sign, we drove to the Shore Hotel to check in, and was greeted with fresh cold water for the kids and a flute of champagne for me..wow! Attentive staff, modern decor and amazing location across from the Santa Monica pier and a block from major shopping. Even has a heated outdoor pool and hottub. Reasonable price in this unreasonably priced neighborhood. Unfortunately, this LEED certified (environmentally friendly) hotel didn't put enough soundproofing in the floors, so I heard furniture […] moving upstairs. Luckily, those people went to bed and awoke on my schedule, so it wasn't a horrible problem. I switched rooms to the top, 4th, floor and the problem was gone. It's a great hotel - amazing location across from the pier and 2 blocks from great shopping, fabulous staff, clean and nicely decorated with a pool and hot tub. But there are two problems: there isn't enough noise insulation within the hotel, so I heard furniture moving a lot until I got a room on the top (4th) floor. Also, the restaurant next door […] isn't open for breakfast, which means a few block walk. The breakfast issue will likely be soon fixed. The sound issue, probably not. Location is great. Parking was tucked away, hard to find, poor signs off the street. Parking is expensive but standard for girls in the area. Hotel service was nice, polite. Rooms were clean, but I was not that impressed for the price tag. We were very disappointed in our "Ocean View King". The view of the ocean was between two buildings at an extreme angle. Also, the $30/night parking caught us off-guard at check-out as we had assumed we would not pay for parking. Overall, the hotel was very modern and well maintained, but the value for what you pay is just not there.

My criteria for hotel are simple, it has to be clean, quiet, and with caring staff. Shore Hotel has exceeded my expectations in all of the above. Now reliving our first impression, from the parking garage, elevator, lobby, to our room 410, the place felt modern and smelled of nothing, so far so good. Our 4th floor ocean view suite was protect by a thick […] double pane glass that felt more like a vault than a sliding glass, shielding us from the excitement of the teens in the pool and hot tub directly below. The entry door to our room was solid with clean robber seal around the frame for added sound isolation. We heard nothing from the hallways and slept like rocks. Both my wife and I are light sleepers so the attention given to providing tranquility is deeply appreciated. Upon our Thursday PM arrival we notified the front desk of minor room presentational hiccups and Diane took care of it immediately - Thank you Diane :) Needless to say, Shore is on the top of my hotel list. Hotel was very clean and sleek, with all the amenities we could want. Unfortunately, we weren't able to take advantage of many of them as we were only there one night. But our room was lovely with a nice view of the beach and even a bit of the Santa Monica pier. I travel a lot, probably experienced more than 300 hotals in my life. This hotel look nice but the service is really poor, the hotel DON'T have a breakfast room, not even a coffee machine. I was suppose to ise my coffee maker in my room, but no cofee packets where there. I asked some to the room service, they sais "we will send some". Guess what, never […] got it. So had to go to my business metting: with no breakfast, and not even cofee. The gym also suks, its more like a dog trap than a room for humans.. The hotel also claim as "green hotel". Don't know what they mean, I guess they should really look for it, insted of using "green" as an empy maketing world. I suggest to go to Viceroy, or if you can n the Shutters on the beach , both very very special hotels. Located right next to the pier and in walking distance to many attractions. Rooms are very clean and modern. While quite small, the room was still comfortable. All of the staff we interacted with were very friendly and knowledgeable, the service was superb. On the downside, expect to pay an additional $35 for parking.

I booked this reservation for an ocean premier room. When checking in they did not tell me they were giving me a wheelchair room. Maybe they did this because I booked through Expedia. Well the toilet was so high I could not go to the bathroom. I did not like the shower curtain and there was no place to put anything in the bathroom because the sink was […] floating for a wheelchair accessability. I just wished they told me before giving me the room. I noticed it after I had unpacked. Otherwise the security in the hotel is very good, and everything else was nice, clean, plenty of towels. Even the parking garage is clean, and there is a tv in the waiting area in the garage for when you are waiting for valet.
