My stay there was horrible and if were not for the fact that every hotel in the area was booked because of the Masters, I would have went somewhere else. The room was smaller than what was shown on the picture. There was mold in the bathtub and the toilet leaked water on the floor when you flushed it. First off I must say the people that work there are wonderfull. They just do not have much to work with. That being said this hotel needs to be redone. The furniture is very old and if you stay in the room I had, the floor will shake (like an earthquake) when the maids run the dryers when they do the laundry. Usually stay at the Microtel on Garners Ferry but got mixed up and had to stay at this one! Worst hotel ever!!! This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. My husband and I paid for a one nights stay. We were thinking about staying two nights if the hotel was a nice place. It looked nice the outside and the lobby area was nice too. When we enter the room the first thing that came to mind was small. It was clean but small. Then my husband went for the […] remote and couldn't turn on the TV. So that means in order to change the channel on the TV you would have to get up and do it. The walls were very thin you could hear people talking very loudly if you know what I mean. But here is the thing that had us very upset. As I was about to go to sleep the fire alarm went off in the building. We rushed out of the room leaving everything behind in fear for our lives. We ran down the stairs to the lobby to find out that someone was playing a joke and pulled the alarm. This was not funny. We came into Columbia for a funeral and just needed a place to stay for the night. We booked the Microtel Inn and Suites, because of their low price. Upon arrival, I noticed the lobby had an awkward smell...like they had tried to cover a bad smell up with air freshner. Our room was ok. I've seen cleaner, but we figured it would do for one night. During […] the night, my five year old got sick and was up all night long throwing up. She accidentally vomited on the comforter andsheets, so the next morning at check-out, my Husband was very honest with the lady at the front counter. Instead of being concerned about her guests...she was more worried about the comforter and whether or not the stain would come out. She proceeded to tell my Husband that we should have brought the sheets and comforter down in the middle of the night, to be cleaned instead of waiting until morning. She asked for our debit card in case we needed to be charged for anything that was 'damaged'. They called us that afternoon and informed us that they would be charging us for ruining TWO comforters. One with vomit, the other with black magic marker. We didn't have any black magic markers. My Husband told her that we had nothing to do with the black magic marker. She still charged our account 120 dollars and I am still fighting that. There are plenty of other hotels in Columbia that are nicer and staffed by people who wouldn't treat you like criminals. Later that evening we discovered that the cold water in the bathroom sink did not work. A little probing revealed that the cold water cut off valve was turned off. I would never stay at this hotel again. When we got there at 3:00 p.m. they told us that check in time wasn't until 4:00p.m. So we had to find something to do for another hour. No joke, this hotel from the outside looked decent, when I walked in the lobby, again it looked pretty good, warm and clean. Once you step into the elevator and the door opened to my floor I could see the filthy carpets, smell the musty cigarette smoke and filthy walls. The room itself was a throwback from the 80's, the bedding was gross and dirty, […] the bathroom had cigarette burns on the sink and carpet was a dark green that still showed its age and I am 100% certain more than a handful of filthy slobs urinated and god knows what else on them. I am not Donald Trump but when I do travel I stay in nice, upscale hotels, this hotel was a mistake and unfortunately due to the masters tournament every other hotel was booked solid. Overall, the hotel was okay. What I did not like the most was that you could hear conversations in other rooms as if they were in your room. (Paper thin walls) There are no iron or ironing boards in the rooms. You have to check them out at the front desk. TV, microwave, and fridge were outdated. Visited the Columbia area for a Volleyball tournament 2-11 and booked last minute accommodations through hotels.com. Booking was very easy and fast and the price of the hotel seemed great. Upon arrival, the hotel was not located in a great area and our view from the window of our room was the back of some junky building/store. We were just going to […] get a good nights sleep and go to the tournament first thing in the morning, so location wasn't a big deal. The carpet was fairly worn and stained up. The beds looked nice, but when my daughter climbed in to go to bed, she said there was sticky stuff on the sheets. I didn't look to see what it was, didn't want to know, yuck. It was really late and we had to get up really early in the morning, so we just pulled the sheets off of the bed and put down the top sheet from our bed so they could sleep. Their ad says breakfast included, but it wasn't much of a breakfast. Basically all they had were waffles and cheerios. Since waffles were the only thing available, you had to wait in a long line to be able to use the 1 waffle iron that they had. Maybe I am just used to the breakfast that you get at Holiday Inn Express or Comfort Inn, this was nothing like that. Although the price was good, we won't be returning to this location, mainly because of the dirty sheet issue, that is just nasty!! I own a property management company here in Myrtle Beach and know that you have to change the sheets after every rental whether you think they have been used or not, you can't guess because this is what happens.
