"Not great for smokers or people with rental cars"
We had to park next door and the parking structure didn't belong to the hotel. We forgot to pay parking while we were on a luau and our car was towed. It was a 198 expense plus a 30 cab fare. It was also noisy and you are not allowed to smoke on your own balcony/lanai. Our lanai was on the 5th floor and faced a brick wall. Next time ill pay a little […] more and stay somewhere that has their own parking. The room was nice other than a broken closet door and a tiny lanai. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Location over Amenities. Simple and Nice."
This hotel was alright. It isn't anything to write home about. The room was a lot smaller then what I had expected. It appears they have remodeled the rooms recently with new furniture and sinks which gives it the appearance of an upscale hotel, but I would say it's just ok. We only spent two nights there, but the location was great. Everything you […] needed was well within walking distance and easily accessible. The beach was one block away. "Nice hotel for a family."
The hotel's situation is really great, near Waikiki and all bus stops. The room is clear and clean, but it seems not as big as on photos. We stayed in a kitchen double room suite, very practical for a big family, soon expensive in vacation. Another deception, the street noise is clearly audible even from 6th floor. The staff is very nice. The Internet […] access and beach towels are free. To conclude, our stay was nice but not exceptional. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

It is OK for the priceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I read a lot of reviews for a lot of places in Hawaii and most seemed to be ignorant, complaining about stuff that is either basic hotel policies or things outside of the hotels concerns. The Bamboo was nice, it wasn't 4 or 5 stars and I new it wouldn't be since no one claimed that, but for the money and location it was great. We had a good time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old Hotel- Was ok"
You can tell this is a older hotel, when they advised they were doing renovations you would expect to see them. The only thing new is the furniture the bathroom was in need of a major upgrade. The shower leaked, was cracked and could see years of water stains. They advised sheets would be changed every 3 days, the sheets were stained upon arrival and […] they never got changed during the entire week stay. Staff was friendly and recommended some good eats nearby. FYI- If you want to park at the hotel , make sure you call and let them know ahead of before time otherwise you will be parking next door. "One BIG complaint - construction, GREAT otherwise"
+ great location, just a block away from Waikiki beach + very helpful receptionists - showed us a bunch of rooms and accommodated us as best they could + clean and nice rooms + very decently priced for the location and amenities - CONSTRUCTION was ongoing at the hotel Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, which is NOT how I want to take a rest in Hawaii. Hotel accommodated […] us to a room away from the construction noise but still quite sub-optimal. - concierge was not very helpful, basically left us on our own - pool water was kinda cold, especially compared to ocean water Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very cute, rooms weren't too small perfect for my husband and I. Lost a couple stars due to no wifi in rooms, and after few hours of being gone room smelled of wet towel. Other than that the place it great for the price. You need a key to enter the hotel at night which is a great security measure. I would stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Secret Oasis in the Heart of Waikiki."
Due to our airline connections, we had to arrive early and leave late. The staff were most helpful. We were delighted that they offered to store our luggage until check-in, but they went out of their way to arrange a room change so we could actually check in early as well. When we checked out at the last possible moment allowed, not only did they store […] our luggage, but they were gracious in allowing us to remain in the beautiful pool area and use all of the lobby facilities for five more hours! We also received extra help with configuring our computer settings to allow internet reception, and with excellent advice and directions regarding transportation. The Thursday Manager's Reception with signature cocktail, pupus, guest sketch artist, entertainment and spa specials was also delightful. I received a wonderful foot massage. Some remodelling of the balconies was progressing, but the staff made sure that it had minimal impact on the comfort of the guests. We will definitely stay at this hotel again on our next visit to Waikiki! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"I've paid too much for a hotel being renovated"
Just a very bad surprise: The hotel was being renovated! Much noise between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. It was really too expensive with such conditions. Desappointed... Two other things: - Wifi only in the lodge and outside - Windows don't block the noise from outside enough For the rest, the hotel is nice.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Aqua Bamboo - Classic Retro"
Walking into the Aqua Bamboo was like walking onto a movie set from the 40's or 50's starring Jane Russell and Robert Mitchum. The Bamboo style and decor is carried throughout the hotel. The pool area is a secluded oasis in the city surrounded by native trees and plants, lovely cedar chaise chairs and a bamboo hut. There is much attention to the little […] details ( ie: the glass pitchers of ice tea and lemon water that were kept full all day in the lobby) that made our stay more comfortable and memorable. All that and just two blocks from the beach and great shops and restaurants. Also very clean! Our room was facing the pool and on an upper floor which was quieter that the lower levels. For the price you can't beat this little boutique hotel! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall great place, great location, good value, carpet could have been cleaner but they are working on remodeling the hotel. Overall great experience!Genuine Expedia guest review
My first thought when I got off the elevator on my floor was the the hallways were a little small for my taste, but as I open the door the my room; it was beautiful. The bed was comfortable and well made, I had three lanai's, the bathroom was clean and smelled fresh. The space was comfortable for only two to three people and any more would make it uncomfortable, […] but my friends and I made do. The jacuzzi was a bit small compare to other hotels, but the swimming pool was the perfect size. Overall my experience at Aqua Bamboo and Spa was a pleasant and enjoyable one. Stayed at the Aqua Bamboo & Spa on Dec 24th - 28th 2011 and enjoyed the stay. Day and late night staff was very friendly and helpful, except for the girl that works the afternoon/early evening shift. She wasn't too nice nor helpful. We were upgraded to a kitchenette room with TWO balconies, which was nice... one overlooked the pool area and the other […] was toward the ocean but the view is blocked by other hotels... no biggie for us. The room interior was decent... the only complaints are the bathroom faucet was way oversized and made things a bit messy when using it... and the bedroom ceiling area seemed to have a bit of moisture developing. But, the bed sheets and pillows and towels were perfectly clean. The hotel is only a 2-3 block walk to Waikiki beach and the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. The pricing of this hotel is a steal even though it's not directly on the beach! We were very happy with our stay! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Changed rooms - it was like a different hotel."
I booked this budget hotel in Waikiki because I was traveling alone over a very expensive weekend (Thanksgiving) and didn't want to break the bank. I knew also knew that Aqua has been buying up various properties at various price points, branding them, remodeling, and calling them Aqua. Which is fine, because that means the chain has contracts with […] suppliers for all their little commodities, like shampoo and robes. One thing re-branding cannot change, however, is location. This hotel is on Ala Moana, the main thoroughfare, smack dab in the middle of everything. So my room the first two nights was so unbelievably loud. I stayed last year in a hotel on the 405 in LA where they were doing on ramp construction at the exit and it wasn't this loud. Plus, My room, which was quite large and comfortable, had a lanai (balcony) that overlooked the seedy apartment building next door, where the residents' cigarette smoke wafted into my room each night and made me keep the windows closed. So the first day I requested a room change and I had to spend two nights in that room (boom! scream!) and then was sent ($15 more a night - worth it!) to a full on suite (full kitchen) with a lovely view of the pool (small) and palm trees. Like a different place. Had an excellent massage at the hotel spa, (I get massages regularly -very professional and competent therapist at Bamboo.) So, my advice is, if you say there, insist on a room overlooking the pool. And bring your own coffee. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Won't go back"
The room was VERY small. The A/C turns on and off constantly. My feet hung off the bed and I'm only 6'. Bathroom shower, bath tube, would not drain so you stand in water when showering. $ 20.00 per day to park your car in an underground parking area that you have to many manuvers to get into a stall. "Beautiful room and so cozy!!`"
My husband and I stayed here and got room 1104. I highly recommend!! It was so beautiful and cozy we didn't want to leave. The beds were so comfortable, the layout was perfect and the free internet rocked my world! They have a landline you can hook up to. We had a mountain view, but we loved it because we already had an ocean view the last time we stayed. […] The walk to the beach is very short. There are tons of places you can walk to eat and nice little grocery story on every corner to stock your kitchenette! We will definitely stay here again. It was everything we wanted. "One of better experiences in Waikiki area"
Staff very accommodating and friendly. Rooms very clean. Spacious, but not huge rooms. We had corner room, and it had two balconies. One had partial Waikiki view, the other mountain and Kuhio Avenue view. No, this isn't your 4 or 5 star top notch hotel, but a well maintained boutique hotel where the staff gets to know you personally. Free coffee (really […] good), hot tea, iced water, tea, and lemon water. Pool area small but very eye appealing, pool clean. Only downfall is the lower story you stay (they only have 12 floors), it starts getting noisy at 6 am with the public bus service. They do, however, provide earplugs. I never had a problem, but I can see that many might. Request higher floor (8 or higher), ask Puna (guy that works the lobby) for suggestions, and have a great time. In a GREAT location close to EVERYTHING important to someone staying in Waikiki area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very good Hotel"
I had a very nice time at Aqua Bamboo. Great location ... just 2 blocks to the most famous beach on earth. Lobby and employees were always welcoming. Loved the lemonade and lemon tea. Absolutely loved the two balconies in my room. Room was very clean, surprisingly spacious, and had everything I needed. In an area of huge hotels with thousands of rooms […] it was nice to have this smaller but very friendly and personal hotel with little touches that really stood out. The pool is smaller but was never crowded and the pool area is very much a little sanctuary in the bustling area of Waikiki. I would definitely recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Aqua Waikiki Bamboo and Spa in Waikiki"
We stayed at this hotel for only one night because our other hotel was fully booked when we wanted to extend our stay. The room we got in Bamboo and Spa was quite big and well equipped, but the problem was the bad smell of sigarettsmoke in the room. The other big problem was the noise from the traffic during the night. It felt like we were sleeping […] outside in the streets. We didn't sleep at all that night. The hotel is doing some construction outside now, so it might be that the noise from the traffic will improve, but i really doubt it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect for Our First Trip to Waikiki"
We have traveled all over the world, but had never been to Hawaii. We found the Aqua Bamboo Spa Hotel via Expedia. We have a very specific set of criteria for hotels: must have spas, must have recreational facilities/jacuzzis, must be located conveniently to public transit, must have a safe or safety deposit boxes for storage of valuables, must be clean, […] and have friendly, helpful staffing. This property met and exceeded all our criteria. The staff were very friendly, the room had cooking facilities in addition to a safe so preparing fresh meals was easy, and the cocktail hour by the pool with live entertainment and free massage, well, that was a very pleasant surprise. All our bus and shuttle connections were quick and easy due to its central location in Waikiki. It is not a luxurious hotel (not the Wynn Las Vegas), but a very comfortable, affordable place to stay. You can even use a big gas barbecue located poolside to grill up your dinner! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location, good overall value for the price"
I booked a quite a few rooms for the guests/family traveling in for my destination wedding. I got a great deal on the cost (compared to other hotels)... location was excellent (easy to drive to/from, only 2 short walking blocks to the beach/strip, convenience store nearby, great massage place down the street, food places within walking distance). The […] rooms are a bit dated, internet is slow (except in the main lobby) and the elevator felt like it's been around since the early 80's (verrry slow), and the one restaurant/lounge in the hotel felt like it was never open (so we couldn't just hang out for a late night drink). You need to book well in advance to secure a parking spot in their lot but there is a neighboring pay lot also... parking is expensive (but then again, I think that's everywhere close to the strip). But the customer service was impeccable and prompt - very friendly staff...beach towels always available, we even got a thank-you card/gift for staying there. For the overall cost, I'd probably stay here again (mostly for the location and value). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We stayed in Waikiki to have a quick break on the way to Canada. This hotel was really good. "Ok hotel, close to beach"
Hotel is a little dated and rough around the edges. We were 'upgraded' to a kitchenette room with 2 doubles although we booked a king. This made the room seem a little small compared to other hotels we've stayed at in Waikiki. Our room was also located on the road which was quite noisy with traffic, though this might be an issue in quite a few hotels […] in Waikiki. We were not given fresh soaps although staying for 5 nights. Staff were friendly and helpful though, it is in a good location for the beach and easy walking to Cheesecake Factory, which is a must! "Could have been great with a few changes."
Our room was quite run-down, in serious need of a face-lift. Also very cramped and dark. We felt mis-led by the photos on-line and we were expecting something more airy with a sitting area on the deck. Perhaps the rooms overlooking the pool were nicer. Sheets appeared too big for the beds and beds were not nicely made, ie the top sheet crept higher […] each day and the blanket lower. Liked the size of the hotel (small) and loved the patio/pool area which was private and surrounded by a well-maintained garden. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I have just spent a week staying at the Aqua Bamboo. Great location; easy walk to the beach and bus stops, main strip shops and dining. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. "The hotel was in a good position. Transport close"
The hotel was very clean but it is a little tired. The beds were comfortable and clean. The little kitchenette was useful. Unfortunately the age of the hotel is showing in the bathrooms. They could really do with a makeover . Also the airconditioning is old so consequently very noisy. The rooms could do with double glazing as you could hear the street […] noise.
