My first thought when I got off the elevator on my floor was the the hallways were a little small for my taste, but as I open the door the my room; it was beautiful. The bed was comfortable and well made, I had three lanai's, the bathroom was clean and smelled fresh. The space was comfortable for only two to three people and any more would make it uncomfortable, […] but my friends and I made do. The jacuzzi was a bit small compare to other hotels, but the swimming pool was the perfect size. Overall my experience at Aqua Bamboo and Spa was a pleasant and enjoyable one. I would definitely stay again at this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Stayed at the Aqua Bamboo & Spa on Dec 24th - 28th 2011 and enjoyed the stay. Day and late night staff was very friendly and helpful, except for the girl that works the afternoon/early evening shift. She wasn't too nice nor helpful. We were upgraded to a kitchenette room with TWO balconies, which was nice... one overlooked the pool area and the other […] was toward the ocean but the view is blocked by other hotels... no biggie for us. The room interior was decent... the only complaints are the bathroom faucet was way oversized and made things a bit messy when using it... and the bedroom ceiling area seemed to have a bit of moisture developing. But, the bed sheets and pillows and towels were perfectly clean. The hotel is only a 2-3 block walk to Waikiki beach and the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. The pricing of this hotel is a steal even though it's not directly on the beach! We were very happy with our stay! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Changed rooms - it was like a different hotel."
I booked this budget hotel in Waikiki because I was traveling alone over a very expensive weekend (Thanksgiving) and didn't want to break the bank. I knew also knew that Aqua has been buying up various properties at various price points, branding them, remodeling, and calling them Aqua. Which is fine, because that means the chain has contracts with […] suppliers for all their little commodities, like shampoo and robes. One thing re-branding cannot change, however, is location. This hotel is on Ala Moana, the main thoroughfare, smack dab in the middle of everything. So my room the first two nights was so unbelievably loud. I stayed last year in a hotel on the 405 in LA where they were doing on ramp construction at the exit and it wasn't this loud. Plus, My room, which was quite large and comfortable, had a lanai (balcony) that overlooked the seedy apartment building next door, where the residents' cigarette smoke wafted into my room each night and made me keep the windows closed. So the first day I requested a room change and I had to spend two nights in that room (boom! scream!) and then was sent ($15 more a night - worth it!) to a full on suite (full kitchen) with a lovely view of the pool (small) and palm trees. Like a different place. Had an excellent massage at the hotel spa, (I get massages regularly -very professional and competent therapist at Bamboo.) So, my advice is, if you say there, insist on a room overlooking the pool. And bring your own coffee. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Won't go back"
The room was VERY small. The A/C turns on and off constantly. My feet hung off the bed and I'm only 6'. Bathroom shower, bath tube, would not drain so you stand in water when showering. $ 20.00 per day to park your car in an underground parking area that you have to many manuvers to get into a stall. "Beautiful room and so cozy!!`"
My husband and I stayed here and got room 1104. I highly recommend!! It was so beautiful and cozy we didn't want to leave. The beds were so comfortable, the layout was perfect and the free internet rocked my world! They have a landline you can hook up to. We had a mountain view, but we loved it because we already had an ocean view the last time we stayed. […] The walk to the beach is very short. There are tons of places you can walk to eat and nice little grocery story on every corner to stock your kitchenette! We will definitely stay here again. It was everything we wanted. "One of better experiences in Waikiki area"
Staff very accommodating and friendly. Rooms very clean. Spacious, but not huge rooms. We had corner room, and it had two balconies. One had partial Waikiki view, the other mountain and Kuhio Avenue view. No, this isn't your 4 or 5 star top notch hotel, but a well maintained boutique hotel where the staff gets to know you personally. Free coffee (really […] good), hot tea, iced water, tea, and lemon water. Pool area small but very eye appealing, pool clean. Only downfall is the lower story you stay (they only have 12 floors), it starts getting noisy at 6 am with the public bus service. They do, however, provide earplugs. I never had a problem, but I can see that many might. Request higher floor (8 or higher), ask Puna (guy that works the lobby) for suggestions, and have a great time. In a GREAT location close to EVERYTHING important to someone staying in Waikiki area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very good Hotel"
I had a very nice time at Aqua Bamboo. Great location ... just 2 blocks to the most famous beach on earth. Lobby and employees were always welcoming. Loved the lemonade and lemon tea. Absolutely loved the two balconies in my room. Room was very clean, surprisingly spacious, and had everything I needed. In an area of huge hotels with thousands of rooms […] it was nice to have this smaller but very friendly and personal hotel with little touches that really stood out. The pool is smaller but was never crowded and the pool area is very much a little sanctuary in the bustling area of Waikiki. I would definitely recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Aqua Waikiki Bamboo and Spa in Waikiki"
We stayed at this hotel for only one night because our other hotel was fully booked when we wanted to extend our stay. The room we got in Bamboo and Spa was quite big and well equipped, but the problem was the bad smell of sigarettsmoke in the room. The other big problem was the noise from the traffic during the night. It felt like we were sleeping […] outside in the streets. We didn't sleep at all that night. The hotel is doing some construction outside now, so it might be that the noise from the traffic will improve, but i really doubt it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect for Our First Trip to Waikiki"
We have traveled all over the world, but had never been to Hawaii. We found the Aqua Bamboo Spa Hotel via Expedia. We have a very specific set of criteria for hotels: must have spas, must have recreational facilities/jacuzzis, must be located conveniently to public transit, must have a safe or safety deposit boxes for storage of valuables, must be clean, […] and have friendly, helpful staffing. This property met and exceeded all our criteria. The staff were very friendly, the room had cooking facilities in addition to a safe so preparing fresh meals was easy, and the cocktail hour by the pool with live entertainment and free massage, well, that was a very pleasant surprise. All our bus and shuttle connections were quick and easy due to its central location in Waikiki. It is not a luxurious hotel (not the Wynn Las Vegas), but a very comfortable, affordable place to stay. You can even use a big gas barbecue located poolside to grill up your dinner! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Try somewhere else"
This is probably the worst value in a hotel I have ever experienced. Not only was their parking expensive, even by standards in the area, they had no space for my car requiring me to park in another hotel. This old hotel does not have central AC and uses, very noisy in the wall AC which kept us up all night. The room was very small, the bed was OK. "An ok stay"
They upgraded us to a bigger room for free, which was nice. It was modern and updated, but we found a couple of roaches at night. I read that roaches are a problem everywhere in hawaii, so maybe they aren't to blame. The other weird thing was the furniture was placed slightly awkwardly and seemed just a little too big for the room: we both kept stubbing […] our toes on the beds going around corners. The kitchen was poorly equipped. Stove didn't work well and they could have given you a dish cloth and a decent frying pan. The view out our room was horrible, but if you get one on the back looking at the courtyard it could be nice. The lobby and the pool areas are nice and the staff were helpful and courteous. You can use the parking lot next door […] but you can't access the elevator so you have to walk up. "The hotel was in a good position. Transport close"
The hotel was very clean but it is a little tired. The beds were comfortable and clean. The little kitchenette was useful. Unfortunately the age of the hotel is showing in the bathrooms. They could really do with a makeover . Also the airconditioning is old so consequently very noisy. The rooms could do with double glazing as you could hear the street […] noise. The pool surrounds and foyer were pleasing. Overall the experience was great as one didn't expect 5 star luxury. So I would say that it was value for money. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Comfortable hotel centrally located"
I stayed at the Aqua Bamboo for 4 nights. The hotel is centrally located and close to everything you want to see in Waikiki - the beach, shops, restaurants and bars are all within a few blocks. "Nice hotel just away from main road"
Set on Kuhio Ave that runs parallel to the busy and noisy traffic route along the beachfront of Waikiki this hotel has an oasis within its grounds where you can swim or just relax in complete privacy. "A bit tatty but great location and nice service."
This hotel is in a perfect location, a block from Waikiki beach. The hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly too. Free, reliable internet in the rooms was a bonus as well. "Convenient location and comfortable stay"
Lovely boutique hotel, close to beach and other shopping amenities. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful; the concierge were exceptional in helping book excursions. Room cleanliness can be improved on as I needed to request a room change from our first room - the bathroom was slightly dusty, sand residue in the shower and the water could not […] drain in the shower. "Nice hotel with great staff but noisy!"
The Aqua Bamboo is a nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. However, as it is located on Kuhio Ave., it is very noisy. Which is tolerable during the day, but if you are not a deep sleeper you quite likely will have difficulty sleeping, as was my experience. I would think that if you are lucky enough to get a room with a pool view (backside of hotel) […] it may be quieter. I don't know this for sure though as after a noisy, nearly sleepless one night stay, I visited the front desk staff and requested a room on the backside of the hotel for the following weekend (which we had prepaid for) as we would be returning to the hotel after visiting the Big Island before returning home. I was told to call the morning of our return to the hotel to make this request, which I did, and was informed that they would do their best. Anyway it didn't happen and we spent the last 2 nights of our vacation struggling to sleep. It was certainly a disappointment, after a restfully week on the Big Island, to be going home tired after 2 nights of intrupted sleep. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Hotel, OK but has a few drawbacks"
We just stayed at the Aqua Bamboo for 5 nights. Overall our stay was pleasant, the bonus being 2 single beds and 1 queen bed. We have 2 teenagers so being able to stay in the 1 room but have single beds for them is a BONUS. The location of the hotel is really good, very short walk to beach and all the shops, restaurants etc. You cannot fault this along […] with the pool area. Rooms are clean, tidy and bathroom adequate size for 4 people. The downside for us is the fact that our room faced right on to the busy highway and was just too noisy. The bus stop is right across the road and they run late and night and peak hour starts at 4am.. For this reason we could not stay here again. Please bear this in mind as you cannot have the sliding doors open and the only air conditioners is in the wall (old style) so very noisy to keep on whilst sleeping. If this does not bother you then the hotel would be perfect for you (you could also try and ask for the rooms facing back of hotel) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel rooms were clean. They provided a microwave, fridge and table and two chairs. The room was crowded and cramped. They were clean though. The corridors were small and pokey. The staff were not particularly helpful. I would not stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Before you read on - there were many positive points about our stay here - & I'm aware that it reads quite negatively. It's a 3 minute walk from the beach, it's close to a range of cheap through to expensive eating options & many (not quite all) of the staff were very helpful ... now read on for the details. We checked in on a Friday night & were given […] a room right above the entrance to the hotel. Within about 3 minutes I was turning the lights off & shuitting the blinds to avoid feeling I was going to end up as a witness to the fight that seemed to be about to break out. I asked for a change in room & was told I would have to wait til morning. My wife & I had to suffer a horrible & noisy night until the next shift started @ 6am & I was allowed to move room immediately (hence this room was free when I asked at first). This room was much better. On the whole, this was a pleasant hotel once things were sorted although they had no Valet spaces available the first night - I booked for 2nd & 3rd & when I returned for 2nd night had to pretty much argue my case to get a space. The hotel is in an ok part of Waikiki - a 50 yards move would have it in a nice part of Waikiki & you're not getting attractive views from this one. That said - the room does have a kitchen, including toaster (Waikiki is FULL of ABC Stores - if/when you go you will see why I put this in block capitals) & it was good to save a bit of cash by cooking a bit of breakfast. "Aqua bamboo - a cheap hotel for one on the go"
Overall I was quite unsatisfied with this hotel. The staff weren't overly friendly and I managed to be in the Lobby while a customer was complaining and the issue was dealt with very poorly. We weren't notified that we would not be able to access our balcony as it was being repaired, and had to listen to inappropriate conversations of the maintenance […] people as early as 7.30 am some mornings. Our room smelt mouldy and we couldn't even open the screen door to air the room out as the sliding door was locked from the outside due to the maintenance. Last of all, we were charged $20 per day to use their carpark, which only consisted of approx 10 parks which meant many of the guests had their cars blocked in by cars who couldn't find a park. "Convenient for budget minded travellers."
We stayed at the Aqua Bamboo Nov 5 - 12 and were fairly satisfied with the overall experience. The renovations weren't too inconvenient although one morning I had to delay my shower as there was a scaffold with men painting right outside the window. The pool area was relaxing and the lobby offered comfortable seating and use of free wi-fi. Free coffee, […] tea and lemonade was also on offer. The location is about 5 mins to the beach at Waikiki, there are plenty of eateries nearby and the buses stop across the street. We enjoyed shopping at Ala Moana and the outlets (although the outlets aren't as good as Las Vegas). The room was very clean and well maintained although our hairdryer was broken and it took three days and three requests before we got a replacement. The front desk staff were a little patchy . . .some very helpful and informative and others made us feel as though we were an inconvenience to them. However, the cleaning staff we came across were fantastic. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel to those who want a convenient location without paying through the nose . . .and those who aren't looking for luxurious accommodation luxury. We got what we expected and what we paid for. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great place to sleep in a convenient location."
We had a great stay at this hotel. But we are not fussy people. We have worked out of tents for our jobs in remote locations, so anytime we have a real room to stay in we enjoy it more than the average person. This is not anything against this hotel though, we have stayed in much worse hotels for much more money. If you are looking for a place with […] a great rate, clean room, and friendly staff then this is the place for you. We did not spend too much time in the hotel since we were here on vacation, which was probably a good idea since they were doing renovations to the outside during normal business hours. The renovations never bothered us. The hotel is in a great location, near restaurants and beaches, and in the middle of the Waikiki strip so we never had to walk far to the malls, restaurants, or beach. And there were no bugs when we stayed. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely stay again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We enjoyed our stay at the Aqua Bamboo. The hotel offers a lot of extras that others do not provide. Free towels to take to the beach and beach gear. My only qualm is that the pool closed too early the weather was so beautiful when we stayed that we would have loved to have a night swim that was after 10.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
