Holiday Inn Express & Suites Superior - Superior

Completely meet our expectations. Close to Duluth, MN (just across the bridge from Superior, WI). Good value for money. Hotel is not a 5 star but fulfils the basic needs of a hotel. Free wifi, but slow. If we are going back to the area we will consider this hotel again.

The people were extremely friendly and efficient, the room was comfortable and in excellent condition, and the breakfast was great. Being in Superior the price was less, but since the Inn is located on the main street, getting to Duluth only took 10 minutes. We would be very happy to stay here again!

Great value! Weak coffee is pretty much my only complaint. They're doing some redecorating and I think it will look really nice. Room was comfortable and our kiddos loved the pool! Fitness center is tiny, but I just needed a treadmill so it worked.

Room was clean, quite, and comfortable. Location was nice, right off a main road. Parking lot was a little small, but was able to find a spot. There seemed to be a lot of families with kids all around the hotel, but the room was quite.

The room was right next to the front desk and the pool entrance, so heard the foot traffic and people talking. Someone on the floor above us was jumping up and down a lot, so we heard that noise, as well. The plug in the bathtub didn't hold water. That was disappointing. I wanted to visit the Duluth area, but hotel rates in Duluth were way overpriced, so I stayed in Superior. This hotel was just a few minutes drive from Duluth. Check-in was quick and easy, the room was clean, and the bed was comfy. The bathroom didn't have an exhaust fan, so it got very steamy after all the morning showers. Overall, our stay was good. Our room was very clean and the staff was friendly. The free breakfast was decent (the cinnamon rolls were yummy). It was very easy to get back and forth between the hotel and Duluth, and it was more reasonably priced than an equivalent hotel there. My only complaints are that there was only a thin, sheer set of drapes on […] the windows but not any heavier ones. Our room faced the parking lot so our room wasn't very dark at night, and it might not be a good place for people who need a very dark room for sleeping. The beds were so-so, and the room was very warm even without the heat on (in mid-October). The doors are heavy and slam easily and other guests were not so mindful of that. Our stay was enjoyable.There were a few things that I was disappointed in, There were no fans in the bathrooms. There was no where for other people to get ready for the day if someone was in the bathroom, because there was no mirror or plugin's near a dresser or table. We stayed two nights and when we left after the third night the cleaning lady left […] us a note saying she was unable to make our beds because of personal belongings on the beds. The personal belongings were a child's checker board and on the other bed was a personal pillow. The second night the sheets kept coming off of the bed making it hard to sleep. Great stay as always! Much cheaper staying here than a hotel in Duluth! Only a 10 minute drive back over to Duluth. Nice grocery store and liquor store less than a mile away! A Perkins right across the street. Quite, clean and great, friendly staff what more could you ask for!

The beds were very comfortable, and the pillows were acceptable. The A/C unit put off a burning smell when we attempted to put the heat on...evidently the filter needs to be cleaned...VERY dusty! Looks like some updating still needs to be done; the area between the beds where the table lamp is needs to be painted (you can see where the previous light […] fixture was removed but not repainted). Lighting is a bit to be desired; should be a light in the entry area above the mirror/closet area. The picture next to the TV was not level, so we kept trying to adjust it, but it wouldn't budge...didn't someone notice that when it was put up? On to the breakfast. The two days we made it down for breakfast (at least 30min. before closing), the scrambled eggs were 'crunchy', there wasn't any fruit left, and there was no brown sugar for the oatmeal. Recently remodeled room was clean and comfortable.Only complaints were there is NO mini fridge and no microwave even in breakfast area. Great free wi-fi. Breakfast choices were decent, but it's very busy and no place to sit. We just took ours back to our room. Location is 5min to Canal Park in Duluth.

We thought the room was luxurious, but certain amenities lacked. There was no bathroom fan to take away the humidity and consequently, every time someone showered, the whole room filled with dampness. Being hot summer, the underwear never dried, the sheets felt damp, etc. When asked, the answer was," the fan is not broken, there is not one installed." […] There was no frig in the room, which meant our fruit rotted, no leftovers kept, and the very small ice bucket held about enough room for 1 wine bottle. Probably the nicest Place to stay in Superior. The staff at front desk weren't empowered to be able to change our accommodations, however. That was disappointing. The accommodations were in good shape and clean. The breakfast buffet was ample , good selections. Staff had a little trouble keeping it stocked, but everything was tasty.

Although the hotel was not close to the sights in Duluth, it did have a nice location next to the bay of Lake Superior. The hotel is very clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful. It has a nice pool area and great breakfast. We would definitely stay there again if visiting the area.

I've stayed at this hotel numerous times. They were going some renevations but that did not effect my stay, it only made me feel good that they would keep the hotel in great shape.
