The hotel was older, but at least it was fairly clean and conveniently located to Dahlgren and about 20 minutes from AP Hill. My room was a bit musty and the AC didn't work well at all. For the couple of days that I stayed it was ok. Just stay away from room 227. When you look up at the ceiling it says "I Love You". Somehow, someone found it funny to paint the letters on the ceiling. When I reported it to the staff upon checking out they thought it was funny. They did say they tried paiting over it but that should have been something […] I should have known before checking into that room. Poor maintenance for that but other wise it was ok, just make sure you clean out the sofa bed if you are going to use it. It was nasty when I opened it up, just nasty. Read more

We have family in this part of VA and each year that we visit, we stay here. The rooms now have flat screen TVs and they are also equipped with a microwave and small fridge. While it is not a 5-star, it's not meant to be. It is conveniently located on 301 and directly across the street from a Super Walmart and other eateries are close by. Horrible stay! They put me in a room with cut up curtains, right next to the front desk, I asked to be moved I was told no, because they thought I was going to throw a party! I was in town for family reasons. Not interested in throwing a party. They started cleaning the hotel at 7AM which woke us up. The kitchen was right next to our room and the kitchen […] staff was slamming cabinets and kitchen ware all morning. I've stayed in a lot of hotels-I'm a military child so I was basically in hotels for weeks at a time and I have NEVER stayed in a hotel with such a horrible horrible experience.The General Manager followed me and my guest around the hotel when we came in, when we left, when we ate breakfast. It was ridiculous! I called their corporate office and will be getting my money back because honestly, no one should ever have to stay at this hotel. Bottom line: Unless you're 55, love people staring in your room because of holes in the curtains or anything along those lines-DO NOT STAY HERE. Read more

Of the two hotels in this area (the other is a Comfort Inn), I picked the premium facility so that I could really relax and be comfortable. The substantial extra cost was a waste of money. My second floor room was only acessable by stairs -- there is NO elevator in this hotel (imagine a premium multi-story facility with no elevator -- I could only be […] glad I had no heavy luggage to tote up the stairs). I paid a further premium and opted for the suite. The suite was super-small with a small sofa, a desk, TV, and coffee table...it was drab and ugly, being lighted only by a weak lamp on the desk. The entire suite was cramped with an absolute minimum of furtniture (not what is usually found in a "premium" room). My overall impression is that this hotel knowingly relies on one-time visitors and so designed its minimal facilities for maximum profit and minimum return visits. Read more

Room 102 is right beside a room used by the staff. At about 5:30 in the morning people are moving things around in there making alot of noise. Get a different room unless you are getting up that early.

This hotel was ok, wifi was decent, only option locally is this or the comfort inn. Worst part was even though I booked a non-smoking room, all they had available was smoking rooms. A/C worked and could keep up with the temperature, but the hotel lacked options.

Clean, convenient for what we wanted. Friendly staff, clean room. Pool is small, but more than adequate for a cooling off dip at the end of a journey. Biggest disappointment was the variety of breakfast offerings - especially for one of our party (who is vegetarian).

The hotel was clean and quiet, but the staff was scarce at times. My rooms ac was cool, but the odor of mold and dampness was a turn off. The internet was also very slow, had to try a few of the wirelesses in the place to find a functioning one. Overall it was tolerable but there wasnt a better choice in the area.

We requested a non smoking room, but got a smoking room. I believe they tried to conceal the fact that is was smoking room by removing the ashtrays. The stench in the room was a give away that it was a smoking room.

We chose this hotel because its location was extremely convenient to our needs. Everything (beds, bathroom, etc.) was fine when we checked in and the staff was very nice. Clean, comfortable, convenient to everything I needed to do in Virginia. My only complaint was the "High Speed Internet" was missing a lot of the "High Speed" part. (Then again, coming from an area where I have Verizon's FiOS service, anything else is going to be a letdown.)

Not much around it, but very convenient to Navy base. Hotel is fairly new and in very nice condition. Rooms are basic, with micro fridge, but not set up with a desk for working. A small table suffices for light evening work. They offer a nice breakfast selection, including hot fare, and delicious warm cinnamon rolls. There is a very small lobby area, […] not really set up for meetings or places to hang out within the hotel. There is a very good Mexican restaurant up the street a few blocks (beware - portions are HUGE, you will end up using the micro fridge for leftovers) and a lot of construction in the nearby area, so there may be more to do in the future. Our stay was enjoyable and the staff were friendly and efficient. The free breakfasts were great and we didn't have to leave the site to find morning food. We used the pool once. It was also very nice. There was really no problem, but we had to choose a hotel a little distant from where we were visiting.
