Got to the hotel in the pouring rain, unpacked bags. Hubby went to lie down on the bed and water was dripping on him from the ceiling. Repacked bags, moved to another room that was much larger, unpacked bags. Soon realized there was NO toilet seat! One was on order, but not expected for a week (got it two days later). Definitely low season, front reception […] seemed to be staffed a few hours in the morning. At all other times, one gent who spoke no English was on site. Could not ask him for help making reservations, exploring area, etc. Had to ask for toilet paper twice during a four night stay. Did not replace tissues, toilet paper when used. In-room wooden "safe" is not bolted to anything. It is small and someone can very easily pick it up and walk away! Only one restaurant nearby- food good, but not inexpensive. Might be better when it's high season and more staff available. Nice setting. Read more

My husband and i didnt expect much from this place before we got there. But to our pleasant surprise, this place was beautiful!!! Its location has a a typical tuscan backdrop. We drove around alot and saw where other hotels were, they were not half as gorgeous as bigozzi. We stayed at Hotel Bigozzi for 5 nights. Its was a charming place set on a hill with a great view. Mostly I was satisfied, but unfortunately I had expectations that were not exactly met. It is classified as a Agricultural Tourismo property, and I had done some research and talked with people who had stayed in similar properties who said great things […] about them. I felt that this hotel did not meet the criteria to be one...they are supposed to be 'working farms, wineries, ect. This is only a hotel - there is not much interaction between the staff and guests. Don't get me wrong, they were friendly and took good care of us. I saw some brochure that they do produce olive oil, but we couldn't see any evidence of this except if we wanted to buy a bottle. So I was a little dissappointed in this respect. It is a good hotel (not fancy though), good comfy bed, nice common areas, a decent breakfast (not the best I've had, not the worst). Pretty setting, great view, beautiful building. There are a couple good restaurants close by, especially liked the little butcher/deli that was in the next village. There is also a little "Coop Shop" at the bottom of the hill where you can buy snacks, water, wine, ect. Nice and convenient. Also a great location to do day trips to the hill towns - a little far from Orvieto though. Read more

Absolutely breathtaking view! The hotel was beautiful and the surrounding were amazing. Great place to go and relax. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Nice Hotel, you relax straight away. It's easy to find and only 15min from Siena. You need a car to get around, or they can organise a driver for you. It was so peacefull and quiet. They don't do dinner, but there is a restaurant in the small village 5 min walk away.

As well as being near to Siena, the Chianti region and San Ginamino, this was the most beautiful location I have ever stayed in, and my partner and I were so busy taking in the views that I can't see why one would possibly give this hotel less than four or five stars. We were initially offered an annex next to the breakfast room, which I would warn other guests about as it was very ordinary in comparison with the rest of those in the hotel, and it wouldn't suit those with children, but other than that I haven't a single negative thing to say. You have to eat your evening meals elsewhere, but there's a superb restaurant down the bottom of the 'garden' (ie hill) in the village. Castel Bigozzi was a great find. It was very close to Monteriggioni but out in the country where it was quiet. It was an easy drive into Sienna and Florence. The rooms and the staff could not have been better. The views were magnificent. We sat on the patio enjoying a wonderful breakfast every morning.

We stayed at the Castel Bigozzi at the end of April 2011 just before the tourist season kicked in. We were pleased to discover that it was easy to find and to a higher standard that we expected. There were some minor renovations going on (which we assumed were due to the coming season) which were a little disturbing during the day but as you want to […] go out and about this was no big deal. The only negative point was that the suite we booked had a small kitchenette but the sink wasn't plumbed in (no big deal, there was an extra sink in the hall) and there was no plates, cutlery or cooking utensils supplied. There was a fridge however. There is a reasonably stocked grocers at the bottom of the hill from the villa and a rather up-market restaurant in Strove itself. Otherwise there is nearby Monteriggioni and various other towns within an hours drive. Free internet was available which helped with checking out local attractions, there was a pool (which we didn't use) and outdoor breakfast and picnic area and large grounds to walk in. Apart from the small kitchen niggle there was nothing to complain about and we'd definitely visit again. Read more

We had the suite on the groung floor with patio. It was perfect for our stay as we toured the area every day and returned to a freshly cleaned set of rooms in the evening. The breakfast, was excellent, with a very wide choice and no restriction on how much you ate. Watch out however for the mosquito in the evening.

Wir hatten 7 Tage gebucht und wurden in Suite Nr. 3 eingecheckt. Es roch schon verdächtig und nach genauerer Inspizierung wussten wir auch warum. Es gab eine nasse Wand mit Schimmel im Schlafzimmer und auch die "Duschkabine" war voll von Schimmel. Das Bett war eine Hängematte, die Federn habe ich an den Rippen gespürt. Ich kann auch verstehen, dass […] man dieses Loch nicht gerne säubert, so sah es denn auch aus. Wir haben ein Nacht ausgehalten und nach einer Beschwerde bekamen wir ein Zimmer im Haupthaus. Die Rezeption wusste von der Unzumutbarkeit von Suite Nr. 3, diese wäre noch nicht renoviert. Trotzdem wurden auch nach uns dort weiter Gäste eingecheckt. Auch die Sauberkeit im neuen Zimmer war nicht gut, gerade ausreichend. Die Duschzelle des neuen Bades zeigte auch schon verdächtige Flecken, auf eine genauere Untersuchung haben wir verzichtet. I chose this hotel very late and was thinking of just stopping by to sleep. It ended up being the best night of our trip so far. The hotel was built on and old castle on the top of a hill. You can have a view of the Toscana from everywhere! From your brakefast table you can also view the whole area.
