"Great Hotel with amazing staff"
We spent 10 days here and had a great time. The hotel location was gorgeous with a wonderful room, and if you love boats, it's right on the marina of the beautiful Marigot Bay. We were all inclusive and quality of the food was excellent, the best in the bay, even better than the Rainforest Hideaway Restaurant which is highly rated by all. The hotel […] is under new management since August last year, and they are investing heavily in a superb makeover. This will be finished in June at the latest and in the meantime there is some inconvenient works going on but after a day we hardly noticed. In fact we were fascinated by the speed at which the workmen got on with the job. Best of all was the attitude of the staff at the hotel. Everyone (reception, maid, restaurant, bar, gardeners, porters, maintenance and pool) was so friendly, happy and helpful it made our holiday so pleasurable we were sad to leave. Name checks to Jean, Tessa, Vanya, Nathalia, Samantha, Leslie, Tracy, Tasha, Trudy and Jeroen, and if I've forgotten someone then it's the jet-lag or old age, sorry. We want to come back again and see the new facilities please. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Paradise at Capella Marigot Bay, St. Lucia"
When my husband and I arrived at the Capella, Marigot Bay, St. Lucia, we were speechless by the beauty. It truly is paradise. The most gorgeous view of the bay, luxury accomodations, lush vegetation with hibiscus growing everywhere, hummingbirds buzzing about, little canaries wanting to share whatever morsel you are eating, morning doves cooing, friendly, […] helpful and professional staff, delicious food and warm humid temperatures. We stayed for 12 days and were terribly sad to have to leave. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would return again in a heartbeat! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"very nice hotel on beautiful bay"
Although the check in desk was conveniently located off the road, the check out location was a long distance from the road. And, we were not informed that we had to check out at this distant location in the hotel, and at 6 in the morning this was a bit of a problem for us and the staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely hotel in the wonderful Marigot bay"
Marigot bay was our final hotel in our St Lucia trip. The staff were very welcoming, provided us with a room upgrade and were very flexible on check in and check out times. At times we felt reception was a little slow but they were always keen and pleased to accomodate any requests that we had. We will definitely go back to this hotel. It is going through […] a refurbishment in 2014 but we thought that the standard was good as of now. Looking forward to seeing the improvements! "Discovery at Marigot Bay"
The hotel was absolutely beautiful. This was only my second trip to the south and the first experience was definitely lacking in customer service. This experience was truly heavenly. Our room was amazing-we did get an unexpected upgrade which was nice. We booked a bay view despite the reviews we read and lucked out with a fantastic bay view and a great […] balcony from which to enjoy. We had 2 very minor issues - our air conditioner was not cooling very well night #1. A quick call to the front desk and they had someone at our door in 15 minutes at 10 pm and it was fixed next am. Our door lock was a bit finicky and it was fixed ASA. The housekeeping was topnotch. The pools and spa facilities, reception, Hurricane Hole and Boudreau room were all very well-maintained. The staff were unbelievable attentive and friendly throughout the hotel and made the stay. We really enjoyed the food. The gym could have used better equipment but was adequate. We were a bit antsyafter 9 days in the Bay-we are not great at lounging. We wished arranged ahead for more days of car rental. Reviews on-line about the driving had made us reluctant, but it wasn't bad-you had to be cautious and drive slowly. The local beach wasn't the best, but we knew that going into it. So we did spend a few days and a few dollars getting rides in water taxis enabling us to see more of the Island. We also expected there would be more of a local market with local shops and eateries but there were not too many closeby. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Tranquil restful spot"
We stayed at Discovery in Jan- Feb 2013 and really enjoyed the hotel. We asked for a quiet room and got it (but then occupancy rates were very low). Its best asset is its fantastic professional, friendly, supportive staff albeit some of the furniture is tired. It’s situated on a mangrove swamp, so pack mozzie repellent (citronella spray provided in […] the rooms) & fly spray (screens on the rooms are ripped in places). We were told the menu at the Hurricane Hole and Boudreau Restaurant changes regularly but we saw no evidence of it doing so. Service at the café was slow – but the food at all these was good and tasty. Excellent swimming pools and gardens. Good choice of eateries nearby if you want to go out. Would we choose this hotel again? Without hesitation! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very good in a lovely setting but we needed to hire a car get to other parts of the island to do what we wanted to do i.e. bird watching. The hotel has just been sold so it may change under the new owners.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

We loved everything about it- even though there was a couple of things that were disappointing.. don't know if it was because of the renovating and transforming to Capella from Discovery Marigot, but the staff was sometimes a bit asleep so to say. We got wrong bills , ordered things like coffee while eating lunch and it never came.. All in all it didn't […] have that much influence to our holiday, staff was so nice and polite, each and every one of them. "Fantastic Guest Service!"

We stayed at this resort for a week for our honeymoon. They have been renovating the property for the last several months and they fell behind and did not complete the project before we arrived. However, the rooms were complete so they were still able to accommodate us. They also gave us food credit to use at the resort across the bay (1 minute water taxi) since the restaurants at Capella were not ready yet. The food credit was enough to cover our meals so this was a nice addition. When we arrived to the resort we were greeted by several managers welcoming us and it made us feel special. We were given a tour of our suite then the other resort where we would be getting our meals. All of the staff were very nice and housekeeping did a wonderful job every day cleaning our suite while we were out. They also left treats in our room, i.e. a fruit plate, plantain chips and our fridge was stocked everyday with complimentary drinks. Perle was fantastic helping us book our excursions and checking in on us to make sure everything was going well. This was a beautiful property and the staff were so accommodating. Once the renovations are complete this resort is going to be amazing.

what a relaxing, private place to stay. so many of the employees went above and beyond to help us out (here's looking at you, Karim). the breakfast was so fresh and we loved trying all of the local fruits. sadly, the place was nowhere near capacity when we were there, which was such a shame, because it's a beautiful spot and an excellent value. highly recommend, for both couples and families.
"Marigot Bay: incomparable service and location"
04/24/14 jennym007 London, United Kingdom
Am writing this review, sitting on the balcony, drinking the complimentary rum, ice and coconut water, of our room at the Capella Marigot Bay, at the end of a superb few nights here. This is our second time here, once with a standard room, and once with a 1 bed apartment. Both are superbly appointed and a pleasure to use. Especially the spacious bathroom, with his and hers vanity areas. The days start well with a pre breakfast coffee looking out across the moored yachts to the verdant hillside beyond. So lovely to enjoy the bay fully - many island tours stop by on the hill above for a phote opp, before heading on their way. The breakfast room is lovely with good views, tasty food, with friendly and courteous staff. As are the staff throughout the resort. A kayak trip is worthwhile, 15 minutes takes one outside the bay to a nice snorkel location, a few minutes more to a sandy beach. In the centre of which is a 20 foot wide sand bar, and one can kayak up the river Roseau. Peaceful with just the sound of birds and the breeze in the sugar cane. In the evening, one can eat in the hotel, or stroll along the boardwalk, admiriring the yachts before a 2 minute ferry to Doolittles for a happy hour cocktail. One can eat there, or for a more romantic dinner, stroll to the Rainforest Hideaway. If visiting St Lucia, a few days at the Capella Marigot Bay, will leave a lasting and happy memory.
"Loved this Property!"

My Husband and I recently stayed here for 1 night only. I wish we could have stayed a week! This place was wonderful! From the time we got to reception, until we left, the staff was so kind, friendly and helpful. Getting the tour from check in up to our room was beautiful and informative. The grounds of this property are so relaxing, peaceful and lush. The pool was great, the pool bar is great. Walk down by the marina and get ferry tickets to go to Rainforest Hideaway restaurant for a special meal. The restaurant at the Capella served a great Breakfast with a wonderful view! Our room on the 3rd floor (worth the hike, believe me) had a view of the bay, so awesome! The furnishings were fantastic! Very Warm and "St. Lucia" decor. The shower and sinks were perfect. Secondly, Marigot Bay is a wonderfully beautiful, peaceful paradise of a place! Enjoyed so much walking around in all that beauty. Highly recommend staying in Marigot Bay, and most definately would stay at Capella! Hope to go back someday for a longer stay!
"Excellent, the best on the island"

Let me start by saying WOW. This place is real gem and if you get to stay here you will love every minute of it. Its heavenly. The rooms are extremely big, we had a two bedroom apartment. I loved it as I used one as my dressing room! We had a top floor apartment with a large balcony and the views were breath taking. We spent most lunchtimes on the balcony taking in the view. Also the beds were big and very comfortable. Even though we had an apartment the hotel clean it daily to a very high standard. They also give you free bottles of water and cookies at night by your bed. Lovely touch. The pool is great with a swim up bar. The staff here keep it very clean. They give you fresh towels and free bottle of water. The restaurants are lovely as well. We ate at The Hole and the restaurant in the main bit of the hotel. Food was fantastic, we tried everything and it was all delicious. In fact I would say it’s the best in Marigot Bay. There were works going on in the hotel but this didn’t really disturb us. Its already fantastic so looking forward to seeing what it’s like once done. They are shutting in the next couple of weeks and re-opening in June I think. Now there isn’t a beach directly with the hotel but you can get a free boat over to the beach and it only takes a minute. We loved the pool area so spent most of our days there. You can go and visit other beaches which we did and I would recommend getting a water taxi to do this. Same price as a normal taxi and much more fun. There were people of all ages here. This place is great for people with kids as you have a lot of space with apartments and also great for couples as it’s so romantic. Also I just need to mention how amazing the staff are here. They are so attentive and nothing is too much trouble. So much so I have written to the hotel telling them how wonderful their staff are. There are many hotels in St Lucia and some of them are very expensive as they are directly on the beach and some have nothing to do nearby. The best thing about Capella is that you have the most beautiful views, you can relax or you can go out and explore Marigot Bay which is so colourful. I will definitely return here again.
"Beautiful, relaxing holiday."
04/08/14 nikkismart Richmond, Surrey
Marigot Bay is a hidden gem along the coastline of St Lucia. It is quiet and picturesque. The hotel is currently undergoing some work, as it is under new ownership, but this did not detract from the holiday at all. In fact we hardly noticed it. Rooms - We had a two bedroom apartment which was gorgeous. Giant comfortable bed. Huge bathroom. Comfortable living area and fully equipped kitchen. There is a shop about 5 minutes walk away so we bought a few snack items, but did not do any actual cooking! The balcony had incredible views over the bay. The rooms were cleaned to a VERY high standard and we loved our welcome pack of fresh coconut water, fresh fruit and a half bottle of the local dark rum. Each evening we returned to a turned down room, with freshly baked cookies by the bedside (thank you Shirley!). Restaurant - The main restaurant was lovely, fresh fish, lovely salads and friendly quick service. We wanted to try all the restaurants in the area so we only ate here once. (Please go to Rainforest Hideaway while you are here, it's wonderful.) The pool side menu was also good. Nice smoothies and cocktails, as well as the usual club sandwiches and caesar salads. The staff here were super friendly, so thank you to Karim, Junior and Lesley for great bar service and for getting my coconut water and fruit platter every day! Great little touches like free bottled water and little snacks (toffee popcorn balls and zesty coconut cakes) being brought around the pool just before lunch all added to the experience. Things to do - James at reception was so helpful and full of information. My husband spent a day deep sea fishing, and we took a day trip to the Hotel Chocolat plantation (a great day out, the Bean to Bar tour is excellent and the restaurant is delicious). At the beach across the bay, you have free use of the kayaks and snorkelling equipment. The reception also made all of our restaurant reservations, and organised all our transfers, all very easy and hassle free. We had an excellent stay in this hotel and would highly recommend it. Thank you.
This resort is situated in a stunning setting! I spent three nights there and enjoyed the beauty of the place the whole time The room had a view and was well maintained being thoroughly cleaned daily. The staff throughout the resort were very helpful and Reception was only too pleased to help me out when needed Dining at Capella was a pleasant experience. Only minor suggestion I would make would be to add some worthwhile wines by the glass to match the good food. Overall I went there to chill out from a intense traveling schedule and I found a restful retreat to enjoy.
"Amazing resort in Marigot Bay"
03/30/14 Strondbokken Tulsa, Oklahoma
Let me first say that this resort is amazing for the price. Our room was huge with a balcony and also included a private cooking area connected via a separate door on the balcony. The resort itself is undergoing some minor maintenance, but it didn't dampen our stay at all. The area itself is wonderful. Marigot Bay is great, but it is not close to much so be prepared to either visit the local supermarket (a minute walk from the resort) or spend a lot on dining at the resort. There are a few local restaurants nearby that are wonderful and much cheaper than the resort restaurant. Julietta's (sp?) was wonderful and has a great view of the bay. Also, the Rainforest Hideaway restaurant is amazing but a bit pricey. As for activities, the resort was very helpful helping us plan our itinerary. You will end up spending a lot on taxis to reach the popular areas, however. Castries is about 20 minutes away by car and will cost you about $60 USD round trip. Rodney Bay (the most developed and modern part of St. Lucia) is even further so expect to pay about $80 USD roundtrip. Taxis are easy to come by and arrive quickly. Most drivers will wait for you or arrange a pick up time for you once you arrive at your destination. There is not much to do activity-wise in Marigot Bay, so be aware of that when planning your trip. The bay itself has a small beach (reachable by ferry for a $2 USD roundtrip ticket) and there is a restaurant/bar there called Doolittles which has decent food and reasonable prices. Many activities will require travel, though most companies offer free shuttles or pickup from the hotel docks. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay has been. There is a very international crowd staying here and we were some of the only Americans at the resort. We loved that. Breakfast is free every morning and includes great food, fresh local juices, and other local fare. It is very good and the atmosphere is very hard to beat. Highly recommended, but be aware that you are far from many things on the island. St. Lucia is not a huge island, but the natural terrain is very mountainous and the roads wind around so it takes a while to go anywhere. So, if you want to stay in a room that makes you feel like a king in the rainforest, this is the place. It's magical. If you want an all inclusive resort and don't want to meet locals or hassle to go places, you might want to find a place closer to Rodney Bay.
03/29/14 businesstravel_12 New York City, New York
In a very secluded location, this is an amazing resort surrounded by first class natural surroundings and an absolute incredible view. The only slight downside of this resort is that there is no beach. There is a free shuttle to a small absolutely gorgeous beach - however be prepared to hassle by locals. Currently under construction so would consider delaying a vacation until this is complete. We didnt find this to be in any way disruptive. Will be paradise found after construction is complete.
"Great place and value"
03/28/14 Justin S Boston
Capella is a great place for the cost. If you are looking for a quiet place that still has easy access to several restaurants and a quiet beach this place is perfect. The rooms are large and clean and come with a kitchen. Marigot bay offers a few places to pick up essentials and a quick easy water taxi to other restaurants only accessible by boat. Capella is undergoing renovations so not everything is open and quiet up to the highest quality yet which is why it is significantly less expensive then comparable 4 star hotels. However we barely noticed the construction. Recommend getting a "resort" view room. You have a higher view and better view of the water. Our "bay view" room did have a view of the water just not quite as good. However the bay view rooms will be a little quieter. The staff is friendly and helpful but do not expect the 5 star treatment. You have to search out the activities and options at the hotel more yourself. If you are at the pool and need a towel or drink you have to go get it. This is what we expected and were looking for... so just do not set your expectations that this is the Ritz or Four Seasons. The beach is a short ferry ride away. It is small and rocky in some areas but it is quiet and nice. Staying at Capella entitles you to a beach chair even though the people on the beach will try and sell you one. This is an example of the staff at Capella not informing us of simple things. We found out through other guests after we got back. The restaurants on site are good and met our expectation. The rainforest cafe, a short ferry ride across the bay, is a must though. All in all this place is great and the best 'bang' for your buck.
