"Paradise at Capella Marigot Bay, St. Lucia"
When my husband and I arrived at the Capella, Marigot Bay, St. Lucia, we were speechless by the beauty. It truly is paradise. The most gorgeous view of the bay, luxury accomodations, lush vegetation with hibiscus growing everywhere, hummingbirds buzzing about, little canaries wanting to share whatever morsel you are eating, morning doves cooing, friendly, […] helpful and professional staff, delicious food and warm humid temperatures. We stayed for 12 days and were terribly sad to have to leave. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would return again in a heartbeat! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"very nice hotel on beautiful bay"
Although the check in desk was conveniently located off the road, the check out location was a long distance from the road. And, we were not informed that we had to check out at this distant location in the hotel, and at 6 in the morning this was a bit of a problem for us and the staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely hotel in the wonderful Marigot bay"
Marigot bay was our final hotel in our St Lucia trip. The staff were very welcoming, provided us with a room upgrade and were very flexible on check in and check out times. At times we felt reception was a little slow but they were always keen and pleased to accomodate any requests that we had. We will definitely go back to this hotel. It is going through […] a refurbishment in 2014 but we thought that the standard was good as of now. Looking forward to seeing the improvements! "Discovery at Marigot Bay"
The hotel was absolutely beautiful. This was only my second trip to the south and the first experience was definitely lacking in customer service. This experience was truly heavenly. Our room was amazing-we did get an unexpected upgrade which was nice. We booked a bay view despite the reviews we read and lucked out with a fantastic bay view and a great […] balcony from which to enjoy. We had 2 very minor issues - our air conditioner was not cooling very well night #1. A quick call to the front desk and they had someone at our door in 15 minutes at 10 pm and it was fixed next am. Our door lock was a bit finicky and it was fixed ASA. The housekeeping was topnotch. The pools and spa facilities, reception, Hurricane Hole and Boudreau room were all very well-maintained. The staff were unbelievable attentive and friendly throughout the hotel and made the stay. We really enjoyed the food. The gym could have used better equipment but was adequate. We were a bit antsyafter 9 days in the Bay-we are not great at lounging. We wished arranged ahead for more days of car rental. Reviews on-line about the driving had made us reluctant, but it wasn't bad-you had to be cautious and drive slowly. The local beach wasn't the best, but we knew that going into it. So we did spend a few days and a few dollars getting rides in water taxis enabling us to see more of the Island. We also expected there would be more of a local market with local shops and eateries but there were not too many closeby. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Tranquil restful spot"
We stayed at Discovery in Jan- Feb 2013 and really enjoyed the hotel. We asked for a quiet room and got it (but then occupancy rates were very low). Its best asset is its fantastic professional, friendly, supportive staff albeit some of the furniture is tired. It’s situated on a mangrove swamp, so pack mozzie repellent (citronella spray provided in […] the rooms) & fly spray (screens on the rooms are ripped in places). We were told the menu at the Hurricane Hole and Boudreau Restaurant changes regularly but we saw no evidence of it doing so. Service at the café was slow – but the food at all these was good and tasty. Excellent swimming pools and gardens. Good choice of eateries nearby if you want to go out. Would we choose this hotel again? Without hesitation! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very good in a lovely setting but we needed to hire a car get to other parts of the island to do what we wanted to do i.e. bird watching. The hotel has just been sold so it may change under the new owners.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Excellent holiday at Discovery at Marigot Bay. We took our 5 month old baby and couldn't have been made more welcome. We loved everything about it- even though there was a couple of things that were disappointing.. don't know if it was because of the renovating and transforming to Capella from Discovery Marigot, but the staff was sometimes a bit asleep so to say. We got wrong bills , ordered things like coffee while eating lunch and it never came.. All in all it didn't […] have that much influence to our holiday, staff was so nice and polite, each and every one of them. "Day 2 of 7 and we couldn't be happier"
05/01/15 Scott Z Toronto, Canada
I am travelling with my wife and 11 month old baby and we are on day 2 of 7 of our vacation and we are very impressed to date. When we arrived at the airport we made our way to the Capella stand and we were greeted with a huge smile and generous young lady. We were offered a cold towel, cold water and a welcome treat. She also took our drink order for our welcome beverage once we arrived the hotel. We arranged private transportation to the hotel and we had the pleasure of being picked up by Albert in his clean Mercedes. Albert drove very cautiously and even took the long way to the hotel as he wanted to make sure the ride was smooth and safe for our baby. Needless to say we are going to book Albert for our other day trips. When we arrived the hotel we were once again greeted with wonderful smiles by the entire staff and Petal was wonderful at check in. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary upgrade and we have a beautiful pool side room with our own hot tub. So far the food has been great and we particularly enjoyed the poolside sushi today. Mid afternoon at the pool one of the employees brought around fresh coconuts and cut them open for coconut water for everyone sitting pool side. A very refreshing treat. We are already upset out trip ends in 5 days and I will update trip advisor at the end of our trip. Don't hesitate if you are unsure. This is paradise. Scott and Julie
"Not a Caribbean experience"
05/01/15 Trevor S
My wife and I recently stayed at Capella for 10 days, booked through Kuoni. We arranged our holiday very late and therefore had limited choice of hotels in the Caribbean and Mexico. We were attracted to Capella by the pictures of a turquoise lagoon and the appeal of a "bustling marina with a wide range of shops and restaurants" together with a "nearby beach accessible by complimentary shuttle that offers crystal waters you would expect from a Caribbean resort". Unfortunately Capella does not deliver on any of the above. The water in the bay is dark green and looks more like something from the Lake District in England - all photos you may see of turquoise water in the bay are photoshopped. In front of the hotel are parked a number of large super yachts which are there all year round and obscure the view of the bay completely from both the pool area and the lower rooms. We booked a bay view suite - on arrival we were led to our room which was on one of the lower floors and were shocked by the view - whilst technically the balcony faces the bay, it is far from a 'bay view'. You get a view of some trees, an unused staging area for corporate events, the back of a yacht and a small patch of the green water from the bay. We immediately complained and were shown the view from a couple of other rooms further up. However the view from all rooms, with the exception of the penthouse is obscured by trees or the back of the main hotel complex. We asked Kuoni for a transfer to another hotel and subsequently were offered a penthouse suite which offers a view you would expect from a bay view room - we accepted. However, we then explored the "marina" to find it is merely a planked walkway to a few outhouses, most of which are closed, concluding with a couple of dusty, empty restaurants. Monaco, this is not. We asked the Kuoni rep what was going on and were we missing something to be told that yes indeed we were, and in fact there was a much more buzzy vibrant marina with beach on the other side of the bay. What did we find? A brown area of sand with a few deck chairs leading on to an unappealing area of sea together with a bunch of shacks manned by locals who are aggressive sellers and generally quite intimidating. There is also a restaurant 'Doolittles' which is universally acknowledged as having terrible food and owned by a brash English man who sits on a stool to welcome you puffing away on a large cigar. A real pity as this is the only place from the bay you can get a good view. The actual hotel accommodation, once in a penthouse suite, is of a good standard. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are huge as are the balcony with private jacuzzi. The pool area is pleasant enough and was not at all crowded. Quite the opposite-it all seemed quiet which given the size of the resort would indicate it is largely unoccupied. Aside from the fact the pool area does not offer a view of the bay, it is well maintained and nicely fitted out. The service is also very good. People are exceptionally helpful and warm (call out to Dean our porter who we particularly liked). There is a small issue in that on occasion the attentiveness can be a bit too much. You are greeted by every person you walk past including gardeners, waiters, receptionists etc. and when eating you can barely finish a sentence with your partner before you are interrupted by pleasantries. But really we are being picky here. Another issue is that service charge is included on everything you buy -whether it is a poolside snack or drink, you are charged an additional 10%. Therefore it is unclear whether they want additional tips for their attentiveness or are genuinely being nice. There are two restaurants in the hotel although to be honest they may as well provide a single restaurant with a menu that has some variety and choice. Your options are effectively 5 different cuts of steak, chicken marinated 3 different ways, and 3 different fish. All fine but not when you are staying 10 nights! The speed of service is painfully slow. On one evening, two courses took 2 hours to serve up. There is a restaurant across the bay called Rainforest Hideaway which is rated the best on the island (we also visited the second best, Windsong at calabash cove), however whilst nice enough with a romantic setting, St Lucia does not do 'fine dining'. Think Bella Italia or Prezzo in England. Given the location is far from a Caribbean experience, we decided to hire a car to explore the rest of St Lucia as surely there must be white sands and blue seas on the island. Huge mistake. The roads have no sign posts...literally...so unless you have a GPS or detailed road map with a good navigator, you have no hope. We did make it to Rodney Bay which has a good reputation for its beach. Again, you may as well have been in Spain. Peddling locals are aggressive and intimidating when charging you for sun beds, the sea is far from spectacular and the sea view restaurants are terrible. To conclude, the facilities in the hotel are of a good standard and service excellent but these are unfortunately let down by the positioning of the hotel on the bay, the bay itself and the location in St Lucia. Unfortunately you may not be lucky enough to get the penthouse free upgrade - if you are not in a penthouse it's terrible and if you are and paying full price, it's vastly cost prohibitive. Look elsewhere unless you have no choice like us!
My husband and I attended a business rewards trip at this resort and found it very comfortable. Every single member of the staff, from gardeners, to spa attendants, to our personal assistant, and our pool bartender were the FRIENDLIEST PEOPLE! The resort is located in a harbor with marina store for all needs, access to plenty of excursions, as well as some local color watering holes available by free water shuttle across the bay. The dining at the resort was wonderful, especially the meals put together just for our group by their chef. I highly recommend their skirt steak anything!

Beautiful setting overlooking Marigot Bay. Rooms are well appointed & spacious. Bathrooms are roomy with nice amenities/robes/slippers. Nespresso coffee in room and fridge stocked with beverages. Enjoyed morning coffee on the balcony. returned to room each afternoon to find a happy hour treat & there was turn down service at night. Rooms are clean. All staff was very friendly & helpful. Several restaurants to choose from and multiple pools with a variety of seating options. Hotel is within walking distance to the Marina & ferry that takes you across the bay. You can get ferry passes from the concierge. Had transport arranged upon arrival through the hotel.
"Vacation Rescued by Capella"
04/20/15 Judy R New York
The Capella Marigot Bay Resort is a true gem in the Caribbean. Its beautiful views and outstanding accommodations are only exceeded by the exceptional staff that completes the trifecta of perfection. My wife, sons (8 and 6) and I were visiting St. Lucia for the first time and began our trip in a different hotel which turned out to be a disaster. My wife found the Capella Marigot Bay Resort online during our first night on the island and we visited it the next morning in order to verify that this is where we could salvage our vacation. From the first phone call with Petal, my wife was optimistic that this is where we should be spending our vacation. Petal was very professional and courteous on the phone and greeted us when we arrived with genuine warmth and hospitality. She took her time to show us the available rooms and the resort facilities. Once our tour was completed we were then introduced to Pearl who is a member of the management team. Pearl’s kindness and professionalism to every member of my family was truly amazing and it was clear that exceptional hospitality is the primary goal of every member of the Capella. Arrangements were made to transport us back to our first hotel to gather our belongings and bring us back to the Capella. We spent over two hours traveling by cab and over $150 in cab fare in order to switch to the Capella. It was well worth the trouble and cost. Once we arrived, we were personally escorted to our room by Petal. To our surprise and pleasure, Pearl and her staff had chosen a beautiful and spacious suite with a tremendous outdoor space and hot tub. Our Suite included a modern kitchenette, a large and lovely dining/living area, spacious and separate bedroom, large and clean bathroom, and separate laundry area. Our room was everything we wanted and more! The pool areas and entire resort were extremely clean and serene. Our meals at all their restaurants were delicious. The staff at the Rum Cave, especially Glen, Deli, Gavin and Cassandra were the friendliest and nicest people. Within a few days of our return home, we received a personal email from Petal thanking us for staying at the Capella. We have stayed in many five star resorts and have never received a personal follow-up email. The only reason we would return to Saint Lucia is to stay at the Capella again.
"Amazing Spot in Marigot Bay"

I've been to Marigot Bay quite a few times now, and with the recent reno's at the Capella Resort, was delighted to see all the changes. It's stunning. My favorite spot was the Rum Cave! Glenn Sorensen has done a remarkable job. We enjoyed Rum Tasting, Glenn was brilliant. I even got to make my own spiced rum :) Glenn is very particular, and believes in 100% customer service. The new menu was amazing; I was fortunate to try several menu items.... all fantastic. Glenn gave me a tour of the property, and it is stunning. Next trip I hope to stay. Can't wait to go back to see them again. MJ

From the minute you arrive and are greeted at the airport with special treats and a warm and friendly smile, you know you are in for a very memorable holiday of the highest caliber. The staff is incredible and the rooms very spacious and beautiful. The grounds and the views are spectacular and as a true foodie, the meals are sublime.. Gideon at the Raw Bar makes everyone feel very special at his pool side venue. It is a pleasure to observe how he wields the knife over the sushi - his preparations are a feast for the eyes and beyond delicious. Waitstaff in the The Grill at 14*61 are attentive to every detail, and our favorite server with a beautiful smile was Kristina. Spa treatments were excellent and the whole time spent at Capella was truly memorable. Capella at Marigot Bay is a top notch addition on the beautiful Island of St. Lucia featuring their philosophy of genuine, caring hospitality delivered by your "personal assistant". Superb accommodations, restaurants and excellent customer service attitude. This resort really aims to please and is a quality experience. Looking out over the superyachts, hiking nearby, tours and boat trips, or just chilling by the two scenic pool decks with views, you can have the experience you want with the right amount of down time and privacy. I recommend it highly.
"Capella- first-class secluded resort overlooking Marigot Bay"
04/10/15 travelmudman Fayetteville
We stayed at Capella at Marigot Bay. I highly recommend it. The hotel is a first class experience and a perfect complement to a beautiful bay. The room we had was a suite with a modern kitchenette, comfortable fold out sofa bed, and separate bedroom with a very comfortable canopied bed. The bathroom was large and well appointed. It also had a laundry room. The service was impeccable from initial arrival through checkout. We were greeted with a spiced tea, rum or virgin. Check-in included a sample bottle of Chairman's Rum. The refrigerator was stocked with sodas and water and replenished daily; the tea and coffee selections were great; each afternoon the maid had set out plaintain chips and corn salsa and a couple of Piton beers; the night time turn down service included cookies. There are several buildings along the hillside that house the first-class rooms and most provide great views of the bay, harbor, and yachts docked there. The buildings and grounds are well-maintained and manicured. It is very relaxing to sit on the balcony and savor the quiet views and ambiance of the bay. There are two nice pools and a beautiful multiple level complex with a couple of restaurants and a rum cave. The fitness room was nice and the concierge service in the library was available. Across the bay there is a small sand beach, with palm trees. On the beach is Doolittle's Restaurant and Bar. You can access both with a free shuttle for Doolittle's customers or a frequent $2 water taxi. The distance across the bay is pretty short. There are a couple of other restaurants in the bay that are good also. To find the bay, there is not very good signage as you come south from Castries. When you get down the windy hill into the flats, there is a faded sign that points right, up a steep hill with a pot hole filled road. That is the turnoff. Believe it. If you continue, you will see a lot of vendor stands along the road. Turn around and go back and make the left turn heading north. As you get to the top, there is a Great View Cafe. It is a great view. If you go right and down the hill, you will come to a small restaurant at the interior of the bay. To get to Capella's or the marina village, bear left up the pot hole filled road. As you go back down that road Capella's will be on the right. If you are driving there from Henowarra Airport, take the Castries route to get there. The road from Soufriere is much worse, windy and pot holed, and takes much longer to go through Soufriere than to go toward Castries. If you take a taxi, enjoy the ride.

First class experience and beyond at both the Capella Marigot Bay Marina and Resort!! Let me start with the marina because we have just finished our around-the-world sailing adventure and have had our boat in the marina for a two week stay. Wonderfully cheerful and extremely helpful, Darien, was immediately out in a dinghy to lead us into the marina bay and assist with docking. Also terrifically cheerful and helpful with boats in the marina is Chetty. The Marina Manager, Guillaume, was very attentive and personable as well. Everyone really went the extra mile. We feel so lucky to have stayed here. This is the best marina service we have ever had!! The Resort, Grill & Rum Cave Restaurants and Spa are also exceptional. As a marina guest you have access to the resort and services with a charming small boat lagoon, which is wonderful. First, we had an excellent buffet breakfast (where we first met the gracious hostess, Alona) at the Grill which overlooks the marina bay and super yachts. Then, the concierge booked an excellent all-day island tour for us with a great driver. We also tried the Rum Cave Restaurant for lunch & the special dessert, "chocolate experience, for two". Cassandra, was our especially friendly and helpful server and Glen, the Food & Beverage Manager stopped by our table to check on us. We also enjoyed several delightful dinners at the Grill. From scallops to steaks, our food was beautifully prepared and presented and our server, Rolstand, was so attentive. Now, to describe the absolutely perfect treatment I received at the Auriga Spa. I met with the phenomenal, Georgina, for a hair cut & highlights. At my 66 years of age, it was simply the best haircut & color treatment I ever experienced. Not easy to accomplish for me. Next, the incredible, Edma, gave me the most luxurious facial, massage and pedicure of my life! What beautiful and gracious women. Our time here at the Cappella was like no other in the world. We will be back whenever we can!
