This hotel caters to large bus / tour groups - we were not on one of those. The building and rooms are pretty nice and the breakfast buffet is very good (although don't drink the coffee if you are a coffee lover because you will be sorely disappointed). The location is excellent - being about a 10 minute walk from the Damascus Gate. Now for the bad […] - The service is basically non-existent. We called down to the lobby several times over the 3 days that we stayed at the hotel and were never able to reach anyone. There was drilling outside our room at 8am :( Twice someone from maintenance or housekeeping just opened the door to our room - once around 8:30am and another at around 9:30am. Overall, I found it to be overpriced. There is a charge for the internet (per logged-in computer in the room - not by the room). For our 3 rooms for 4 days' internet service the charge was $120.00. The Olive Tree was a wonderful hotel. The staff was friendly and extremely accomodating. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised with an upgraded room! The room was lovely, spacious and very clean/comfortable. I went online and looked at pictures of the Olive Tree hotel and the photos do not do justice in showing the beauty of the rooms and hotel! […] The breakfasts were outstanding - traditional Israeli fare, very fresh and delicious! Also, the hotel is a short 10-15 minute walk to Old City. If we make it back to Jerusalem, we would definitely stay the the Olive Tree again! Read more

The walk into the old city was quite reasonable for us. Under 10 minutes and felt ok walking back in the dark. The surrounding area is ok, but not useful. There are other big hotels around so it feels safe, but nothing we wanted to walk around to explore.

The buffet breakfast is amazing - one of the largest I've ever seen with a great variety of items. The rooms are very comfortable and in great condition. Front desk resolved my reservation issue nicely. Close to the old city (short walk down the street) to see the sights of Old Jerusalem. Near other hotels. Would highly recommend.

This hotel is in East Jerusalem and is relatively close to Damascus Gate. We stayed her for two nights specifically to be close to some relatives in the area. In general, we preferred other hotels nearer Jaffa Gate, but for our needs on these nights, this hotel was a good choice. The room was very clean, and the staff helpful. The only problem in the […] room was that the sheets on the bed were oddly short! I am a short person, but I had to scrunch down in bed to be covered. The breakfast was very sumptuous and varied. Stayed there 2/25. Personnel very helpful..... hotel conveniently located (a 5 min. walk to the Damascus Gate, Garden Tomb). Price very reasonable -especially vs. comparable hotels. Rooms & hallways just beginning to show a bit of wear ....but certainly currently acceptable. Would definitely stay there again. A good value.

This hotel is fine, and reading through other reviews it is probably a decent option for Jerusulem visit. Clean, good service and location is OK - aboyt a km walk to Old Town but not near many restaurants. Nice bar area where you can read papers etc.. Main downside is I would expect a 3.5 star hotel of this size to have a pool and probably fitness room […] also. HAd to pay extra for internet. Read more

Mycket fräscht, stora utrymmen och stort frukostutbud. Ganska långt att gå till ex gamla stan. Hotellområdet har inga affärer eller restauranger. God service enligt israeliska mått (= dålig i andra västländer). Dåligt att inte gratis wifi inkluderas i det höga hotellpriset.

Had to go 6 times to reception as fuses kept blowing so no power, so had to move rooms. So can't really write I was over happy! Won't happen to everyone I guess (apart from those who were on the same floor). Hotel is generally well run and friendly.

Expected level of this hotel was higher than reality. Can`t say that it`s really bad, no. But: the lack of cleanness in the room, terrible beds, dirty windows, selfish staff - next time I`ll choose another place.
