"Liked everything but here's a few things you shoul"
A bit far by bus to get to Magic Kingdom, especially when you have toddlers that are tired. Also, the hotel staff was pleasant but concierge refused to let me purchase a park ticket for someone that was not staying at the hotel. Her reason was that the computer system wouldn't allow her to do so but another employee told me that wasn't true and that […] she could purchase the ticket for me. Anyway, probably no big deal but inconvenient for me nonetheless. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Our family really enjoyed our stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. We reserved a pool view room, but decided to upgrade to a savannah view room when we got there. I am glad we did, it's an experience that we will never forget! The hotel is huge, there is so much to do and see, we could have spent a day exploring the activities there, but we didn't […] have time. My girls had a great time in the pool and on the slide. They made cookies one day and learned a little about African culture. I would recommend this hotel! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"It was okay..."
I liked to hotel just because I can see animals from the room.. Other than that it was horrible. The beds were so saggy that I came home to a terrible back pain. We asked for the new room because of the bed. They gave it to us but it was just as bed. I think the hallway had this smell which was not pleasent. Over all it was just bed. Transportation […] to other disney park aaa not so convient. You had to wait good 35 minutes. I would not stay at this resort again,, Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Hotel Featuring Animals and Quieter Side"
My wife and I stayed only three nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge, but really enjoyed it and would go back in a heartbeat. We had a nice Savanna view King Bed room which was very comfortable and enjoyable to watch the animals during breakfast on our balcony each morning. I've been to Disney more times than I should admit, having made my first visit as […] a teenager in 1971 and having stayed as an adult at the Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Old Key West Resort in the past. For my personal tastes, I'd take the AKL over all of the others, but you should be aware it is a further distance from most of the parks than the others and if you plan to spend most of your time in the parks or leaving for the room in the middle of the day and returning later, this will require a bit more time and you won;t be walking to much of anything from AKL, as you can from all of the others mentioned except Old Key West. We had the best dinner I've ever had at Disney one night right at AKL at their Jiko restaurant and we would both highly recommend it. Overall it seems a bit quieter than the other Disney resorts I've stayed at, but this can be a good thing after a day in the park and we were still able to enjoy drinks in a quiet setting until last call in the lounge just before midnight. All of our interactions with the staff here were great and I would definitely recommend Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
3rd time i've stayed there; noticed quite a drop in customer service...people were not as friendly, lines to check in were long, concierge service was very slow and they made it seem like they were doing you a favor (and the hotel didn't seem that busy). Rooms are still reasonably priced for a disney resort and parking is free; so i might still stay […] there again; but if the customer service doesn't improve, it might be the last time. "Going Wild in the Jungle"
Overall it was a great experience. We stayed on the Savanna side so we could enjoy seeing the animal that were based on the property. It didn't disappoint because even on the first day we had zebras at the window. If you are going to stay on this side of the hotel, I would suggest staying on the lower level (2-3) to feel closer to the animals. Food […] at both Mara and Boma was very solid....especially since we are super picky about food. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

While the hotel is unique in you get to view animals from various spots, I wouldn't pay 'full' price for a room. Rooms are fine and clean though not very big and nothing too special. Staff was friendly though it seemed most were relatively new so still working some things. "The animals made it like home"
Being that our house has 5 dogs, 3 cats, 2 turtles and a rabbit the animal lodge felt like home. Everyone was helpful and extremely knowledgable. New to the arm bracelet system you started they made it easy to figure out how it works. Everything was spotless and the artifacts on site were very informative and enlightening. The park rangers were very […] informative about the animals and the regions they live in. Would highly recommend your lodge to my friends. Frank Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Generally good service and staff but small rooms"
The rooms were small, specially if you come with kids (the whole point). There were no closets (a very small one) or where to put more than one large bag. It seems that the decor in the rooms was great in the 90s when the hotel was inaugurated but now they seem old. The staff was great all of the time and very friendly. The hotel is a bit on the […] expensive side if you have breakfast and eat there. However, all of Disney is a cash extracting machine. Generally the hotel was nice but you would expect more from the price and the brand. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
My room had a very stale odor and the other room smelled like it was saturated with air freshner. Housekeeping mgr explained it was the African wood and excessive humidity and the lack of use that created the odor. After "freshening" we stayed in the room but if it wasn't for my son I would've upgraded to the Arusha view. Other than that it was a fun […] time! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was excellent. We have no complaints. It was a very comfortable hotel. The room were more spacious than the value resort. There was not as many kids in this hotel so a lot more quiet than the Pop Century which we had stayed prior.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Best Disney experience yet!"
This property is extremely well designed, with several savannahs, each ringed by guest rooms. Every morning and afternoon, we enjoyed watching the wide variety of animals graze outside our room. We watched giraffes, zebras, wildebeasts, several types of gazelles and antelope, several varieties of birds, cranes, several types of African deer, and more. […] I had heard about the animals being close to the rooms, but our experience exceeded my expectations in terms of variety of animals and frequency of viewing. The room was "cozy" but well appointed with clothes storage, making it very easy to keep clutter at bay and have plenty of room. The decor is beautiful and thoroughly in theme. There are several dining options, although my only real complaint is that there is nothing other than "quick service" at lunchtime. That was only an issue for us once, since we spent most days in the parks, but it is something to consider. We didn't spend much time interfacing with hotel staff, but the ones we did utilize were pleasant, professional and courteous. The housekeeping staff kept our room very clean and worked around our schedule as needed. We were travelling without kids, and this is one Disney property that seems to be aware that not all travelers are kid-centered. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very Nice Destination"
Don't go here expecting to see African animals. Go here to enjoy the Disney splendor. If you see the animals that's just an added bonus. This hotel is AWESOME!!! would not consider staying anywhere else. On this trip, my only complaint is , the temperature was in the 30's in the morning and we love to use the hottub before we go into the parks, and the hottubs were closed. that was very disapointing. they were open later in the day when the pool opened. the mattresses and pillows need to be upgraded in a serious way. the pillows must have been the worst i have ever had at a hotel, while the mattresses were just very average and plane, like i would expect at a motel, not one of the higher end disney resorts. disney also needs to add at least one, if not multiple, USB charger locations by the bed or […] desk. having no USB charger, again, is something that is ok at a standard, under $200/night, hotel room, but a higher end resort needs to have them. check in took longer then it should have but the people were very friendly, however, when stopping random employees for questions or directions, at least twice (in under 24 hours) employees gave short answers that came with an attitude that indicated they felt we were bothering them. i have been to Disney over 15 times and this is the first time i encountered an attitude like this, and hope it was an anomaly Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"The Animals are Real"
My wife and I are animal people, not Disney people. Staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge worked for us: zebras, giraffes, assorted birds and lots of grazing animals we couldn't identify were present throughout daylight hours, in view within thirty yards or so from our room and balcony. (We had an "Arusha" room: I'm guessing that it was worth the up-charge. […] Also, the greatest proximity to the animals would seem to be from second floor rooms.) From what we learned (on a difficult to book, but highly recommended "Backstage Tour" of Animal Kingdom itself), the Disney organization is an excellent steward of their animals, and of conservation efforts worldwide. So no guilt necessary, just gelt. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Beautiful hotel but inconvenient"
Although the hotel was beautiful it had issues for the money paid. I did not feel like i was staying in a disney resort as it was far out from the parks and taking the bus was frustrating and uncomfortable. The buses sometimes took forever to get there and many times you were crowed in rightctocthe door standing room only. One day it took us 1 hour […] from arrival at bus stop at disney to animal kingdom. Beds incroom were rock hard and i would not recommend buying a refillable drink cup at animal kingdom lodge refill station was way away from rooms hrouh lobby, down elevator, outside, walk around pool and finally there. Everyone complained. Also food was extremely expensive for what was there. If you want the convenience of feeling like you are at a disney resort, especially with young children, stay at one of the three resorts on the monarail line, otherwise save money and stay just outside of disney they have the sam bus service and teavel times, maybe better. "Great Family Fun @ Animal Kingdom"
We had an excellent time at both the Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom parks. We couldn't do everything with a 4 year old due to height restrictions but we all had a blast! "Well Worth it"
The arusha view was beuatiful, good pool, although one heated for winter stays would be nice, nice whirlpools, work out room and great food at Boma and Jiko. Victoria Falls lounge even has Macallen 25 Scotch. Fire pits at the viewing area were nice. Room is actually typical, but the view is what you pay for. Would stay again and recommend to all. "Overpriced Disney Property"
The Animal Kingdom Lodge lobby is wonderful. But the rooms are antiquated and uncomfortable. The pillows are hard as is the mattress We paid a premium for a Savanna room but the game viewing was not what we expected. The food in the restaurants was overpriced. Wonderfully friendly staff. Rooms with the animal views are well worth the money - amazing to look out the window - and be surprised at the sight of a zebra, antelope, or giraffe! My 6 year old son loved this!
