"Perfect for what we were looking for"
Family of 4 on an overnight to Vancouver, this hotel was perfect for us. Room was spacious and kitchenette was an added treat. Close to interesting sites and great restaurants and shopping.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, Comfortable, Helpful Staff"
This hotel was overall good and the staff was helpful. The hotel is aging and needs some upgrades, but overall it was a good place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a nice oldr hotel. The price was vefy good. Near Stanlyey Park and quite a few interesting restaurants. The common areas were a little shabby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Be very careful before you book this hotel"
Rooms at the front and on lower floors are VERY noisy. If you cannot guarantee a room at the back of the hotel and on floors 6-11, look elsewhere. The shabbiness of this place is ridiculous for rooms costing over $200. We had our worst ever hotel experience in room 304. 1. All rooms have flimsy vertical blinds. Our room was missing a slat right by the […] hotel's neon sign which glared into the room. The staff tried to stick on a slat with duct tape but that didn’t work so I had to get up at 2 am to get tape and stick a sheet over the window. 2. All windows are single glazed so the noise from busy Robson Street is LOUD. 2. All rooms have a window-mount A/C unit. The vertical blinds are stapled above the unit so light streams into the room from the gap below the blinds. 4. The TV remote control didn’t work and the front desk clerk couldn’t fix it. 5. All rooms have balconies, so be prepared to hear every word if your downstairs neighbor decides to use theirs. There is no sound-proofing. On the 2nd night we moved to a 4th-floor room at the back of the hotel which was better. However, the toilet leaked so that the tank filled every 10 minutes. I had to turn off the refill faucet overnight. This hotel does have two things going for it: the location, and the staff. If you want your room to be a refuge after a full day enjoying Vancouver, stay elsewhere. If location is all you care about it, so you can put up with the rest, then the Riviera is OK. "Gem off the beaten path"
The price was great for this room it was HUGE with a full kitchen! I wish I had stayed longer there!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Location, Friendly Staff"
The most important thing about this hotel is that all the important stuff was there - good hot water, drains all worked, kitchenette is fine, WiFi worked well, they have 24 hr desk, etc. But the hotel is "rough around the edges". The remodel that is touted in the summary is actually just a facelift, and it's starting to show wear. The location is great, […] however....on a major busline, within walking distance of the train, and other buslines. There are dozens of very good restaurants and shopping within a few blocks. We would stay here again, but it might not be our first choice if one of the neighboring hotels had similar rates. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel not quite fully renovated as advertised."
The staff was very accommodating when we arrived at 10 am, unable to check-in. We left our bags for the day and they called as soon as the room was ready. When checking in we were given a different room than originally told. Once seeing the room was located on the ground floor, facing the parking lot, we asked to be moved to a higher floor. The staff […] was very helpful and upgraded us to a full apartment suite with a bedroom and kitchen (even though we didn't need it). The room faced the street and had a wonderful wall of windows. However, the elevator was OUT of Order and we had to drag our luggage up 6 flights of stairs and the windows were only covered by vertical blinds. The lack of curtains allowed for a lot of street noise. The renovations that have been done are somewhat band-aides or just lack of knowledge of how to renovate. However, the room was a generous size, clean and we both slept fine with the ear-plugs given to us by hotel staff. This place could be quite nice and a wonderful location - but the lack of detail in the renovations may hold them back from success. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Excellent, helpful, friendly staff. Close to almost everything downtown!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Worn but clean; friendly staff; good location"
A solid budget option: nothing snazzy, but well located, some nice features (full kitchens, redone bathrooms) and a helpful staff. I sense they are renovating it slowly, so it could be a real gem in a few years.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was located near shopping and dining establishments which was what we wanted. From the pictures on the website, it seemed like it would be a comfortable place. It was doable but not what the pictures presented. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. The floor is not carpeted which I did not notice until arrival. The other guest could be heard […] and was disruptive to our sleep probably because the hallways were too narrow and sounds carried through the hallways. The shower was not flowing well. Overall, if you are looking for a place to just crash and not care about your surroundings, this would serve purpose. Next time, I will pay a little more for a little more comfort. "A comfortable and affordable Hotel"
I was happy to choose this Hotel, the suite was spacious and have a full fledge kitchen and maintained very neatly. It was near to Sea wall and everything you look for is near by the hotel. Overall a very good stay. Staff where really helpful and very polite. Rooms are a little dated but really clean with lots of room. Grocery store just down the road so we used the kitchen for breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good location, Ok hotel"
It looks nicer in the pictures than in real life, but overall a good value. Internet was a little slow. Size was good. Bed was not very good. Condition of room was ok.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I liked the hotel okay but the rooms need sound proof Windows didn't rest well.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not bad for the price"
I had to stay here for an emergency, when you walk in the reception looks rather like a cheap motel and the facilities look a little beat up .. but once you get to your room is better, it was spacious like a little condo, clean and we'll mantained, the bed was cheap but the sheets and pillows were decent. Acceptable place but nothing special. The guest […] rating in expedia was not accurate at all. This is not a 3 star hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The only reason I booked this hotel (it was downtown and out of my way) was that they advertised TempurPedic mattesses in their rooms. This was specifically advertised on Expedia, and I did call the hotel to verify this. After going through the hassle of downtown traffic, and road reconstruction, to get there, they DID NOT have tempurPedic mattresses […] in their rooms. The staff was courteous and apologized, and they upgraded me to a bigger room, but that did not change the fact that the main reason I went there, the comfortable mattress, was voided. In addition the condition of the hotel and the rooms is poor. It looks like they cut costs on everything. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"great hotel in the heart of downtown"
The Riviera hotel has a great location. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. Most of the rooms in the hotel are suites or have city views. Do yourself a favor and spend the couple extra bucks to make sure you get one. The views of the city are great and having a kitchen in the room means you can eat a little more cheaply while you are in town. […] There are grocers and markets within blocks of the hotel. Things to know before you arrive: -parking costs extra ($15 for 24 hours) -no breakfast, but there is free coffee in the rooms -the furniture and fixtures in the rooms look a bit used (dented and scratched), but they are exceptionally clean and modern looking, so I didn't really mind a few scratches I initially booked the room for one night, but enjoyed it so much I booked a second. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking to spend couple nights in Vancouver. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Ok, a little run down."
It was ok, it's an old hotel. Right on Robson Street. The room had a weird smell, don't think I'd stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Overall, the hotel was a pretty good stay considering you don't spend most of your time in there while traveling anyways. It's surprisingly a spacious room with a kitchen, bathroom and a separate bedroom. It was clean and decent. However the lack of wifi on my floor made it very inconvenient since I had to keep going to the lobby to use wifi. The street […] noise was a little unbearable as well. "Walking distance to almost everything"
Great hotel, beds are comfy, the kitchenette is useful when trying to save a bit of money by not eating out the whole time. However, remember to bring your own pots and pans as they are not provided. The hotel is super close to a lot of restaurants, bars, and clubs; there is little need for a taxi. If you bring your car up like I did, park on one of […] the residential streets behind the building, they charge $15 a day for parking which I think is unnecessary. The hotel staff are nothing but friendly and are great for drunken conversations on your way back to your room at 4 am. Showers take a bit longer due to the very low water pressure, so make sure you have extra time for that! Overall, and very good hotel if you aren't snooty. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Desk staff. Male. Was rude and charged Moore for parking than was originally told.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was worn and shabby but clean. Wonderful location and the staff was very good and friendly. Be sure you don't have an emergency and have to cut your stay short because they refuse to offer a refund. And ask for a room off the street or take earplugs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in close to all Downtown attractions"
More like staying in a trendy apartment. I enjoyed it very much. Great service and amazing views. I could walk to excellent restaurants and shopping. About a 15 minute walk to waterfront.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Satisfactory hotel right on robson"
Hotel looks like it is a converted apartment complex. Overall, hotel was a little dated but the rooms were very clean, beyond what I expected. Location was excellent for a fair price. We got one of the upper floors and the view was nice. Unlike some of the other cheaper hotels, this one is at least a tower and can give these views. Fairly close to the […] skytrain station so you have access to the rest of the city although there is plenty to do within a short walk. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The desk staff were extremely helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, although not fancy. The hotel is located across the street from the Big Bus Hop-on Hop-off stop, which was very convenient. The area is safe and walkable. The hotel has no restaurant, but there are several nearby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Amazing View And Service"
Staying at the Riviera was a great time. Perfect location to all types of food, high end stores and walking distance to English Bay beach.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is old but clean. Not really friendly front desk. In a very good and convenient location. Room is clean but a little noisy especially at night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The WiFi worked about 25% of the time. The location was far off the downtown area. Service was great, and we loved the kitchenette, we had a home cooked dinner in the middle of our vacation. Hotel was clean, but outdated and worn.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK for a short stay"
It had a convenient location - though the parking was an additional $16 per day! I appreciated the size of the suite, which had a separate bedroom as well as main sitting room and kitchen.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a bad place in Downtown Vancouver"
Furniture felt a little cheap and it was a little run-down behind the scenes (parking garage, laundry room, etc.), but the overall quality of the room was much better than I expected for something that cheap. Will consider again if looking for a cheap hotel in the Downtown area near Granville Street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worth the price Hotel"
Nice Big Rooms, only major complain is elevator is out dated, really slow.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My room was very spacious and clean. It resembled a 1 bedroom apartment more than a hotel room. It came with a complete kitchen, dining room with table, huge living room with a 50" flat screen, bedroom, and bathroom. It also had a balcony with awesome views of the city. The living room also had large windows with great views. What I enjoyed most was […] the location. You are so close to everything and you can walk everywhere. I did not use my car the entire time. There are many shops and restaurants minutes away on Robson street. It was also a safe neighborhood and I felt safe walking at night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My room was small, hot, noisy and looked right out at a parking lot (and the taxi driver that just dropped my off). Very weak shower and worn bathroom (but it was clean). And, a very hard bed. Good for a minimal trip or expectation, but not for the money. Wouldn't stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"3 nights at Riviera Hotel (Family of 4)"
We booked the hotel primarly focusing on price and location. When we discovered the room, it was actually a little 1 bedroom appartement with a small kitchen and living area with a sofa bed, pretty good size and on the 7th floor. But then along the stay, we discovered some issues, the main one being the sleeper sofa which was totally uncomfortable, […] breaking our backs every night. Then the WIFI did not work at all during our entire stay and finally the last night people in an upper floor were partying and moving chairs until the middle of the night 2-3 am. Don't think we would go back to this hotel, although the locations was good and plenty of restaurant choices around, we walked everywhere in dowtown and it was pretty easy, you can also rent bikes not far way from the hotel. Location is central to shopping, Stanley park, and surrounding restaurants. A few minutes to drive or easy walks. Ask for view of the beach side, much better scenery. a stretch of windows all along the walls, brightens the room. Kitchen is nice to have for a group, includes utensils, and roomy living room space with flat panel tv. Night staff is very […] friendly and helpful. Plus. Parking is hard to find at first. Outdoors on top lot, gated for bottom 2 lots. Tight for suvs and vans. Elevator is very slow, only 4 can fit at a time, may take up to 10 minutes of waiting. Baggage is carried up a few stairs if parking on top lot. Self help as well, no host service. Hotel is very out dated, feels damp, old, and raggedy. Bathroom may leak water after showering so be sure to verify. Free WiFi, but it is random off and on, slow, and weak. Paid about $170/night but feels like it's worth $110. Minus. "Couldn't ask for more!"
I stayed at Riviera for one night with my mother and her sister. We're from the States and we wanted to visit Vancouver but didn't want to spend a fortune on a hotel. We couldn't be more happy. Our suite (room 903) had a large bedroom, fully equipped kitchen and a living room with a beautiful view of the city. Check-in and check-out were a breeze, staff […] was extremely friendly and professional and our room was very clean. Parking costs extra, but nothing compared to other hotels, and they offer free wi-fi. The hotel is located close to everything - tourist attractions, restaurants and grocery stores. Stanley Park is just around the corner. It did get a little bit loud at night, but that's a part of staying in the center of a city with such a rich nightlife. All in all I will definitely come back to Riviera and recommend it to all my friends and family. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel staff are very helpfull. The location is excellent, you can walk to restaurants, stores, supermarket etc. Rooms are like studios with a kitchen, sofa-bed and balcony. Safety area .Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not as advertised"
We booked this hotel mainly because of the fairly positive reviews. The star rating was low and you could tell it was a condo convert from the pictures and room description. However, this hotel was by far the most uncomfortable I have ever stayed in. The main problem was the misrepresentation the hotel has on hotels.com. They claim AC, the AC was a […] busted tiny wall unit that couldn't cool the bedroom let alone any other room in the unit. Second, they claimed to have Tempurpedic beds. They were anything but. Lastly, the WiFi signal was terrible and I couldn't get logged on at all anyway. The manager claimed it was an apple security setting, but come on, there are billions of Mac devices in the world get with the program. The first night was so awful that we checked out early. I would not recommend this hotel to even my worse of enemy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A little rough around the edges but nice rooms"
From first appearance, it looks fairly nice. Lobby is clean and well staffed. The elevator and hallways look pretty beat up, giving indication that the room itself my be of poor quality. Happily this was not the case. Bright room with plenty of windows, clean overall, nice bed and pullout couch. At its reasonable price I would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For the price I paid, I didn't expect the room I got. Top floor, room surrounded by windows, rather spacious, and a rooftop deck. I got there too early for check in, but due to my situation I was checked in early and all set up. They even gave me a place to change for my event.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
There is smell in the hallway and bathroom. The garage is extremely dirty. The air conditioner is noisy. It is also located on major street which adds to more noises.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was comfortable, well located. At the beginning we have a situation with the reservation, but they worked it out to our satisfaction. We enjoyed our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
