"Ok, a little run down."
It was ok, it's an old hotel. Right on Robson Street. The room had a weird smell, don't think I'd stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Overall, the hotel was a pretty good stay considering you don't spend most of your time in there while traveling anyways. It's surprisingly a spacious room with a kitchen, bathroom and a separate bedroom. It was clean and decent. However the lack of wifi on my floor made it very inconvenient since I had to keep going to the lobby to use wifi. The street […] noise was a little unbearable as well. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel if you are staying a few days in Vancouver. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Walking distance to almost everything"
Great hotel, beds are comfy, the kitchenette is useful when trying to save a bit of money by not eating out the whole time. However, remember to bring your own pots and pans as they are not provided. The hotel is super close to a lot of restaurants, bars, and clubs; there is little need for a taxi. If you bring your car up like I did, park on one of […] the residential streets behind the building, they charge $15 a day for parking which I think is unnecessary. The hotel staff are nothing but friendly and are great for drunken conversations on your way back to your room at 4 am. Showers take a bit longer due to the very low water pressure, so make sure you have extra time for that! Overall, and very good hotel if you aren't snooty. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Desk staff. Male. Was rude and charged Moore for parking than was originally told.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was worn and shabby but clean. Wonderful location and the staff was very good and friendly. Be sure you don't have an emergency and have to cut your stay short because they refuse to offer a refund. And ask for a room off the street or take earplugs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in close to all Downtown attractions"
More like staying in a trendy apartment. I enjoyed it very much. Great service and amazing views. I could walk to excellent restaurants and shopping. About a 15 minute walk to waterfront.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Satisfactory hotel right on robson"
Hotel looks like it is a converted apartment complex. Overall, hotel was a little dated but the rooms were very clean, beyond what I expected. Location was excellent for a fair price. We got one of the upper floors and the view was nice. Unlike some of the other cheaper hotels, this one is at least a tower and can give these views. Fairly close to the […] skytrain station so you have access to the rest of the city although there is plenty to do within a short walk. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The desk staff were extremely helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, although not fancy. The hotel is located across the street from the Big Bus Hop-on Hop-off stop, which was very convenient. The area is safe and walkable. The hotel has no restaurant, but there are several nearby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Amazing View And Service"
Staying at the Riviera was a great time. Perfect location to all types of food, high end stores and walking distance to English Bay beach.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is old but clean. Not really friendly front desk. In a very good and convenient location. Room is clean but a little noisy especially at night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The WiFi worked about 25% of the time. The location was far off the downtown area. Service was great, and we loved the kitchenette, we had a home cooked dinner in the middle of our vacation. Hotel was clean, but outdated and worn.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK for a short stay"
It had a convenient location - though the parking was an additional $16 per day! I appreciated the size of the suite, which had a separate bedroom as well as main sitting room and kitchen.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a bad place in Downtown Vancouver"
Furniture felt a little cheap and it was a little run-down behind the scenes (parking garage, laundry room, etc.), but the overall quality of the room was much better than I expected for something that cheap. Will consider again if looking for a cheap hotel in the Downtown area near Granville Street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worth the price Hotel"
Nice Big Rooms, only major complain is elevator is out dated, really slow.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My room was very spacious and clean. It resembled a 1 bedroom apartment more than a hotel room. It came with a complete kitchen, dining room with table, huge living room with a 50" flat screen, bedroom, and bathroom. It also had a balcony with awesome views of the city. The living room also had large windows with great views. What I enjoyed most was […] the location. You are so close to everything and you can walk everywhere. I did not use my car the entire time. There are many shops and restaurants minutes away on Robson street. It was also a safe neighborhood and I felt safe walking at night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My room was small, hot, noisy and looked right out at a parking lot (and the taxi driver that just dropped my off). Very weak shower and worn bathroom (but it was clean). And, a very hard bed. Good for a minimal trip or expectation, but not for the money. Wouldn't stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"3 nights at Riviera Hotel (Family of 4)"
We booked the hotel primarly focusing on price and location. When we discovered the room, it was actually a little 1 bedroom appartement with a small kitchen and living area with a sofa bed, pretty good size and on the 7th floor. But then along the stay, we discovered some issues, the main one being the sleeper sofa which was totally uncomfortable, […] breaking our backs every night. Then the WIFI did not work at all during our entire stay and finally the last night people in an upper floor were partying and moving chairs until the middle of the night 2-3 am. Don't think we would go back to this hotel, although the locations was good and plenty of restaurant choices around, we walked everywhere in dowtown and it was pretty easy, you can also rent bikes not far way from the hotel. Location is central to shopping, Stanley park, and surrounding restaurants. A few minutes to drive or easy walks. Ask for view of the beach side, much better scenery. a stretch of windows all along the walls, brightens the room. Kitchen is nice to have for a group, includes utensils, and roomy living room space with flat panel tv. Night staff is very […] friendly and helpful. Plus. Parking is hard to find at first. Outdoors on top lot, gated for bottom 2 lots. Tight for suvs and vans. Elevator is very slow, only 4 can fit at a time, may take up to 10 minutes of waiting. Baggage is carried up a few stairs if parking on top lot. Self help as well, no host service. Hotel is very out dated, feels damp, old, and raggedy. Bathroom may leak water after showering so be sure to verify. Free WiFi, but it is random off and on, slow, and weak. Paid about $170/night but feels like it's worth $110. Minus. "Not worth the money"
I was expecting more for the money. It seems you are paying for location. It was like a little apartment. Staff was not friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Couldn't ask for more!"
I stayed at Riviera for one night with my mother and her sister. We're from the States and we wanted to visit Vancouver but didn't want to spend a fortune on a hotel. We couldn't be more happy. Our suite (room 903) had a large bedroom, fully equipped kitchen and a living room with a beautiful view of the city. Check-in and check-out were a breeze, staff […] was extremely friendly and professional and our room was very clean. Parking costs extra, but nothing compared to other hotels, and they offer free wi-fi. The hotel is located close to everything - tourist attractions, restaurants and grocery stores. Stanley Park is just around the corner. It did get a little bit loud at night, but that's a part of staying in the center of a city with such a rich nightlife. All in all I will definitely come back to Riviera and recommend it to all my friends and family. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel staff are very helpfull. The location is excellent, you can walk to restaurants, stores, supermarket etc. Rooms are like studios with a kitchen, sofa-bed and balcony. Safety area .Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not as advertised"
We booked this hotel mainly because of the fairly positive reviews. The star rating was low and you could tell it was a condo convert from the pictures and room description. However, this hotel was by far the most uncomfortable I have ever stayed in. The main problem was the misrepresentation the hotel has on hotels.com. They claim AC, the AC was a […] busted tiny wall unit that couldn't cool the bedroom let alone any other room in the unit. Second, they claimed to have Tempurpedic beds. They were anything but. Lastly, the WiFi signal was terrible and I couldn't get logged on at all anyway. The manager claimed it was an apple security setting, but come on, there are billions of Mac devices in the world get with the program. The first night was so awful that we checked out early. I would not recommend this hotel to even my worse of enemy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A little rough around the edges but nice rooms"
From first appearance, it looks fairly nice. Lobby is clean and well staffed. The elevator and hallways look pretty beat up, giving indication that the room itself my be of poor quality. Happily this was not the case. Bright room with plenty of windows, clean overall, nice bed and pullout couch. At its reasonable price I would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For the price I paid, I didn't expect the room I got. Top floor, room surrounded by windows, rather spacious, and a rooftop deck. I got there too early for check in, but due to my situation I was checked in early and all set up. They even gave me a place to change for my event.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
There is smell in the hallway and bathroom. The garage is extremely dirty. The air conditioner is noisy. It is also located on major street which adds to more noises.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was comfortable, well located. At the beginning we have a situation with the reservation, but they worked it out to our satisfaction. We enjoyed our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Efficiency apartment-hotel in Vancouver, BC."
I was in town for a convention (1 mile away downtown) and stayed at this efficiency hotel, which was reasonably priced and which has a refrigerator-freezer, microwave, stove, and plates, silverware, cups. I prefer to be able to eat some meals in peace and quiet and not waiting for service in a restaurant. There are several grocery stores nearby. The […] room was spacious, clean and quiet. The Robson Avenue #5 trolley stops across the street from the hotel and goes within a few blocks of the Canada Center downtown (Convention Center) and also near the end of the line of the light rail station from the Airport ("Canada line"). About 1 mile away is Stanley Park, with bike paths (several bike shops nearby rent bikes and helmets), and a shoreline walk, as well as an excellent Aquarium. The staff were friendly and helpful. In the basement are washers and dryers, but you need $3 in Canadian quarters to use them. A few blocks south of the hotel are several blocks of interesting looking places to eat where a lot of young adults hang out. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We arrived about 8 pm. No one at desk, no bell to ring. Waited 10 minutes for someone to check us in. Put a sign on the desk or something that says "will return shortly". Staff not very friendly. Room was sufficient for our needs. The elevator was scary!! Old and rickety!! Check out was slick. Guy at desk called us a taxi and it came right awayGenuine Expedia guest review
"Location was great."
Great access to everything, the room was HUGE and included a full kitchen fully stocked with dishes and cookware. I would stay here again when in Vancouver.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Just an average"
The hotel staffs welcomed us with no smile. Just an average. The location is not too bad. Lots of restaurants and stores nearby. Grocery store, Safeway, is a few blocks away. The shower head looks saving water and did not give sufficient amount of water. We hear lots of noise from the street. (My room was at the street side on the 3rd floor.)Genuine Expedia guest review
Over-all was pleased with the hotel and staff. The night-time street noises were on the loud side with only single pane windows, but I would book again at this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient to West End and Coal Harbor"
I was very pleased with the hotel, the rooms are really efficiency suites, with a functional kitchen and dining area, a large screen TV in a sitting room that is open onto the dining area, a clean no-frills bath room and a comfortable small bedroom. Especially nice was the small patio off the living room that enabled some fresh air and sun.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good place, great staff, need kitchen upgrade"
the pans and pots provided in the kitchen in the room were very old and worn out. wished they had some decent pots, pans. the experience was good. everything else seems decent.Genuine Expedia guest review
"good value for the right price"
The hotel was exactly as expected. Make sure to have your room face north (facing the bay). Great view, much less street noise. The one bedroom suite is roomy and larger than expected. I would stay there again. Location is close everything in the city.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel at good price for great location"
The hotel riviera is in a great location--walking distance to Stanley park, Coal Harbor and Granville Island and close to hundreds of restaurants. I was expecting the hotel to be dirty and/or a bit worn for the price, but was pleasantly surprised. The elevator is slow and the internet spotty, but those were minor inconveniences.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
we were promised a balcony and a view. We got no balcony, view to a parking lot, and could hear neighbors when they talked (thin walls). We had a "bachelor" suite, so maybe your experience would be better in other rooms. But we were pretty upset. Also, we threw sheets on the floor, but housekeeping merely folded it and put it back on (not changed). […] Location was great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great stay for the money, with awesome service!"
Myself and 3 classmates shared one suite for 6 days, and had an excellent stay! It was a little musty when we first got there, but after we opened the balcony door and aired it out a little, it was fine. And I am extremely allergic to mold and would not have been comfortable if there was any whatsoever! The owner and all of the staff were super helpful […] with where to go and what to do, answering any questions we had. They were wonderfully accommodating, when we needed something that was above and beyond normal good service. The location was excellent, an easy walk to all of down town, and the room was much larger than expected. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us without constantly tripping over each other. The elevator (like most of the other reviews say) is a little ancient, but never gave us any problems. If you are looking for location, space, and service, for a more than reasonable price this is an excellent choice! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel for a week"
We stayed 5 days in this hotel. It is like a small department, comfortable and at walking distance from some of Vancouver's touristic sites. Employees were kind and they were helping us with our tours.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pass On This Hotel"
This is an old run down hotel they are trying to pass off as "renovated". I would only recommend staying here if you get it for a really low rate. Otherwise there are so many hotels in this Vancouver area to choose from that this hotel is certainly not worth the rate we paid. Also, we asked for a wake up call and didn't receive it leaving us rushed […] to get out of there to catch a train. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old, run-down hotel"
This was the worst hotel experience that I've ever had. Extra charges for a crib, early check-in, baggage scale. W finally got into our room after 3 and went to put our kids to bed but the room wasn't clean yet and housekeeping was still working. At 9, we got a knock on the door from some people who were assigned to the same room; an apology call followed; […] then the manager called - unfortunately our kids were woken up by the continuous commotion. Once the rooms were worked out, the people next door started moving their luggage in - the walls were so thin that we were kept up until after 11. In the morning, I went out for coffee with one of the kids and when we returned i struggled with the front door while the hotel clerk just sat and watched. I will never stay there again. "Don't like the new changes."
They took down the drapes so now when the sun comes up the sun comes right into your room and wakes you up. We stayed early May and the sun came up around 5:15 waking me up. Who wants to wake up at five in the morning when you are on vacation??? Also, they are now charging for parking - they didn't before. I was surprised by this change. In addition, […] some of the hotel staff are completely clueless and have no idea what they are doing and take forever to get it done. You wait around forever and ever when you want to check in. "You get what you pay for, if it is a low price."
Old building, older small elevator with a packing blanket on the walls of the elevator. Garbage and dust under couch, as well as other floor areas. Definitely not one of the newer renovated rooms. Not much information regarding restaurants in the area available at the front desk. Friendly staff. Quieter from street traffic on Robson on the back side […] of the hotel. "Great place, needs better quality towels"
Fantastic deal. One bedroom apartment with a queen bed, and a sofa bed, and full kitchen. Loved the bargain for the space we got. Tons of space. We didn't use the TV, did use the balcony (lovely). Area was great, close to food, groceries, liquor store. Transit right across the street. My only complaint about the hotel was, for the great look and condition […] of it, plus what I know the rooms can rent for, the towels the offer are of such low quality, that I haven't even found the same quality in the cheaper/smaller motels we have stayed at. Quite disappointing, and they don't even provide face cloths in with the two sets of towels that wouldn't even dry you if you only used one. Thankfully, I was the only one to shower, so I got to make use of all towels, and it took two "bath sheets" (seriously, too small to cover my body), and one of the hand towels just to dry my body. I have stayed in way cheaper accommodations, and even they use thicker/better quality towels AND offer face cloths. And some even give you three sets of towels. This place needs to fix their door in from the upper parking lot, and get better towels, but other than that, I loved this place, and would stay there again, in a minute. They provided a plug in heater/fan, plus there was air conditioning, and they put ear plugs on both sides of the bed. There is ample sitting space (couch, two arm chairs, and a table with four chairs), cookware, and I enjoyed the full kitchen. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
