When I got to the hotel they put me in a shoe box sized room. It wasn't a deal on a room at all. I could have walked in off the street and got the same thing. After asking the staff they told me that they don't have any control over that but if I would like to pay an additional fee they could upgrade my room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bang for your buck."
We had a suite on Robson. Sure it wasn't luxurious but it was very close to shopping and dining. The room was big and had a small balcony. You won't find a better deal for the money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Stay... but paper thin walls"
We loved the location, size of the room was BIG, kitchenette worked very well and we would stay here again. Just bring ear plugs. This older building had paper thin walls, but despite that, the rest of the positives made up for it. Four of us were very comfortable in our roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I enjoy it very much, great location, easy to walk every whereGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice room with kitchen, but a few technical issues"
great location (reasonably close to stanley park) and the room was perfectly nice, with hardwood floors and a small, quite usable kitchen. the internet in the room did not work and they referred me to a 1-800 number which no one answered. also, there were issues with the TV/cable. there is no functional lobby space to hang out, get a drink, etc. so […] if this is something you like in a hotel, be warned. . . . "Great location and service for the cost"
Hotel location was perfect. Convenient location (downtown, short walk to sky train), cost was best in the area. Wifi in room was not consistent, furniture and decor is dated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Stay, will go back if ever in Vancouver!"
I really loved it. I had seen reviews saying that it was old fashioned but that doesn't matter to me at all. I stayed with 2 other friends, we had a lot of space, a balcony looking on the street and a kitchen. There was fruit markets, a safeway and a whole foods down the street so we were able to get food for our stay. Lots of coffee shops in the […] area too. The kitchen had everything we needed. Fridge, oven, microwave, kettle, sink and dishes. The staff was super helpful and accommodating. It was clean (my main concern about staying anywhere). I saw in some reviews that it was noisy, but that wasn't my case at all. I have nothing ill to say about this place. Right downtown in what seems a good area, friendly and helpful staff, and enough room for 3 girls with a lot of luggage. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Needs major upkeep. Elevator was scary. Did have a full kitchen which we didn't need. Do not pay for view of harbour not worth itGenuine Expedia guest review
"ANYWHERE BUT HERE!!!!"
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I had arrived in the morning when my international flight had landed. I had asked them to store my bags since my room wasn't ready, and they didn't put it into a secure room, they lined all bags up in the foyer of the hotel, not even behind the counter!! The Bed in my room was rock hard, like the Airplane […] had more cushioning then this bed. There is little to no sound padding in the hotel, I could hear EVERYTHING going on in the floor I was on. Also since I was on level 1, I had to carry my bags up the stairs to my room, since the elevator didn't go to that level. Also the bathroom didn't have any hand soap, you have got shampoo and conditioner but NO hand soap. I also had to keep my blinds shut all day because surrounding buildings and the car park can look right into my room For a couple of extra dollars, Go to the landmark, it is where I am going back to. The hotel advertises free Wifi, however all 3 rooms that our party booked could not get wifi. We were on the 1st, 6th and 10th floors and faced all different directions, but nobody received wifi. We were also disappointed that there was not central air conditioning. There was a window unit in the bedroom, but the main room with the sofa bed was very […] hot at night. One of the units had a window A/C in the main room but not the bedroom. And because of the noise from the street, keeping the windows open was not an option. We liked the location of this hotel and the staff was great. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Grungy room in need of new bedding"
So upset when we checked in...room smelled terrible. Called to get a new room but it was booked solid with the fireworks. They sent someone up to spray linen room freshener so the room smelt like death and linen spray for three days. Bed was old. No comforter just an old blanket in sheets. Charged for parking when the website said it was free. Grungy […] room. Ruined our 'romantic' getaway. On the last night we caught a group of men snorting drugs off the hood of my car! Will never stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Just what our family of four needed!"
With two children under the age of two...this was the perfect hotel for us as they had plenty of crawling room to explore and not get bored. The fully furnished kitchen came in very handy when preparing the kids bottles and indulging in a midnight snack! We loved how it was right in robson and very close to Stanley park. We would definitely stay here […] again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Good location. About half hour walk to BC Place (reason why we chose it). Appears to be an old apartment building turned hotel/motel with some simple upgrading. We could not connect to the Internet. No driveway to pull in to get your luggage out. Had a key that took a couple of swipes to work as our "cellphones mostly de-magnitized" it. Elevator only […] allowed up to 4 ppl max at a time and only one was available. But it was affordable and had a kitchenette on Robson. Staff were friendly. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Convenient location; on main shopping street."
Overall experience was pleasant for a 4 person suite with kitchen. Pleasant front desk staff. Located in a central area. Good rates for a suite.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was pleased with the room size and cleanliness. The staff were helpful and pleasant . I was very disappointed because I had trouble getting clean linen for my room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Staying for two nights the rooms were not bad at all for the price. Although the entrance of the hotel is super small where there is not enough room for more than two guest to check In or out not to mention The snail elevator which we just ended running the stairs everyday. The blys running the front desk need to work on organizational skill checking […] a client appeared as though it was there first time gong show. The rooms were great but if you have somethjng covering the electrical panal make sure when a guest touches it, that it will not fall off and drop on them. If you are going to touch up the place do it right not where it looks as though a five years old did it.. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good deal. Excellent location."
Very well situatd dowtown Vancouver. Only minutes to everything. Rooms are spacious. Not the best soundproofing ever. No breakfast, but kitchenette in the room. Overall good for the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very ghetto. First parking is not complimentary, it costs 15$ a night, which we believed was ridiculous. Minimal amounts of towels and soap was found in the room. Bad paint job on the inside of the suite. Only 4 people at a time can ride the one elevator in the building. THe TV was on the frits the whole first night. You can hear all the […] noises occurring from doors slamming in the hallway and you can hear all the street noise no matter how high up you are. In addition, the air conditioner fits in the window, so even if you wanted to shut the window you could not. The ironing boards are for a childs doll house. There is no real security at this hotel. There was an incident where a women with a cane told the gentlemen at the front desk that she was visiting our room. We never invited anyone over, nevertheless no one knew we were staying there. The gentlemen at the front desk, allowed the women to enter the hotel and go up to our floor. THank god she got the room number wrong as she was visiting a friend int he room next to us. Imagine if it was a thief who found our room key!!!!! THe overall outcome is this.....we will NEVER stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The basic room package was pretty good value for money. Whilst the room was very small, the price was right for this. Clean and tidy. And nice area for exploring.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great central location"
The room is exactly what we needed. It was a central location (we walked from the train station downtown to it and then to dinner, Stanley Park, a market and grocery store). The room was clean and bright and definitely did the trick. Nothing fancy, but that was fine by us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Over all was very good, staff were friendly and helpful. Traffic noise was the only thing that was too loud. Defiantly use them again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The riviera hotel was a comfortable place for a few nights in Vancouver. We were on the top floor in a spacious and comfortable suite. We did get a fair bit of traffic noise from robson st unfortunately, but this didn't bother us too much. Location was great with all parts of downtown accessible by a relatively short walk. My partner and I stayed at the Riviera for the duration of four nights. We stayed 2 nights with out 1 and 5 year old. The location was great but there was a bit of street noise. We put the kids in the bedroom and turned on the fan from the ac unit and it totally drowned out the noise. Having the full kitchen was really nice. For the good price it was totally worth it. "Good value for money by comparison in Vancouver."
Positive experience. The hotel is newly refurbished but the entrance woodwork is a dark brown, making it look a little dismal. Don't let this put you off. The rooms are well equipped, clean and comfortable with a kitchen, lounge area and separate bedroom. In the heart of downtown Vancouver, it's ideal. Laundry facilities available.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Spacious room.Curtains non existent..only sun blinds which didn't really stop the light. We had requested a quiet room, but were given a room on the noisy street side. "Great location and comfortable rooms."
The Riviera Hotel is in an excellent location for sight seeing, being only a few blocks away from Cold Harbour and Stanley Park. It is surrounded by very high rise buildings and from the outside looks a bit small and dated. However, we had a room on the 6th floor with a balcony looking down Robson Street towards Stanley Park and this was fine. Some […] of the lower floors and those looking over the back of the hotel would not have been so good. We had a kitchen with full size oven, microwave, kettle and fridge/freezer. There was a dining table, easy chairs, settee and large flat screened TV. The bedroom had a comfortable queen sized bed, a ceiling fan(please note - no air conditioning), some hanging space and a table, more hanging space in the hallway and a bathroom with a shower over the bath, We were also able to park the car at the rear of the building and there is also an underground car park which we didn't use. There is also a large Safeway Supermarket 3 blocks down. All in all a good place to stay for a short stay in Vancouver. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The hotel needs soundproofing"
The location of the hotel is away from the crowd and overall is good except there're a lot fire trucks and police cars passing by all the time ( I couldn't see any accidents though #, may be that's the only way to get through and the funny part is when we went into the room, the first thing we found was two sets of ear plugs near our beds !!! "Took too long to get our room ready."
Although the hotel was clean and newly renovated, we had to wait until almost 5 pm before the room was ready. The explanation was that "almost half the hotel had been vacated that day and the cleaning staff couldn't catch up with the reservations." Finally a very nice young Asian man (who said he was new to the job) took things in hand and told 3 staff […] members to prepare our room and it took them 45 minutes to do this. Overall, if we had not needed to wait to get in I would be giving this hotel a much higher rating. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The Riviera hotel is great value for the money. The location is within walking distance to Stanley park, Gastown and many other places and is right on Robson street very close to great shopping. The employees at the front desk were very helpful and always asking to make sure everything was ok. The hotel rooms are very nice. Comfortable, quite large with enough space. I had to book it due to the fact that I needed a place to stay along with a friend. Robson street is a great place to be, pretty close to most shops, cafes, pubs, etc. The only complain I will have is that the kitchen furniture was sticky and that the location can be a bit noisy […] in late night because there is a lot people transiting and traffic around that zone. Beds are quite spacious as well, though they are a bit old. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Huge room for a great price"
If staying for more than a few days, this hotel is a great value: the suites had a full kitchen, balcony and were very roomy. I totally recommend it if this is the area of choice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Clean and convenient location, Low on Toieletries"
The price for the hotel was awesome as well as the location, the only thing was the service was a bit slow in the evening. Suite didn't have more toilet paper, which wasn't good. I would still recommend this place for anyone to stay at but always make sure there is extra towels and toilet paper.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Okay room for the price (you get what you pay for)"
Upon our arrival, there were 3 people behind the desk helping one person, we ended up waiting roughly 10 mins to be checked in. Once we finally were taken care of, the staff were attentive&had mentioned they had done renovations the week prior. The parking was free which also caught our attention when booking but sadly the parking garage was VERY small […] (roughly 10 cars max)&the old renovations rubbish was tossed in a giant pile in a few stalls. Gross. The elevator was VERY slow&only could carry 4 ppl. Once we got to our room we noticed that there was candy covered chocolate in our sofa&bed, blinds were dingy&had some dark stuff on it(mold stains perhaps),kitchen was dusty, floors were poorly swept&the tables werent cleaned well.Other than that the size of the room& the views were great. As mentioned earlier this hotel did renovations and very poorly to mention. The walls were painted over the old wallpaper&some parts were peeling. The room did not have a typical directory of the city(i.e: restaurants, sight seeing, etc.),hotel policies and features nor did we have what TV channels we receive. They also do not have bathrobes&down blankets/comforters as stated in the Amenities section. Pillows were on the lumpy side, the two thin sheets&thin blanket made it hard to sleep comfortably.Dont expect much,BYOBathrobe&Blankets. "Not in this Lifetime"
The hotel is extremely noisy; four units and an elevator that is slow. Lots of banging of doors and loud talking.
