"my lousy room at the Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki"
I guess I should have read the reviews before I booked the room. The lobby was beautiful, that was where the fun ended. Maybe because I booked on the internet like another traveler that I got such a pitiful room for the money. It was right next to the elevator and so tiny that two people could hardly move around the bed. There was no desk and the only […] chair squashed in next to the TV was one of those cheap plastic Walmart type garden chair. The airconditioner struggled to keep the room at a decent temperature and was so loud that we had to turn the TV up loud to hear it which prompted a call from the front desk complaining that our TV was too loud for the security man who patroled the area. The bathroom was so tiny we had to put our tolietries on the counter where the TV was in the room. My man is a big man (265 pounds and 6'2") and could hardly move in the shower, it was so small. The towels were plentiful but scimpy in size. If you book a room there ask for something other than room 513, I will not go back there again no matter how much I need a room. "Decent hotel close to beach"
The hotel is in need of some upgrades but it is affordable and just a few blocks from the beach, night life, andeateries . There is an apt building across from the main entrance that prostitutes seemingly live which was a bit unsettling. The pool is nice and the hotel conditions are manageable. Security is good. There is a breakfast package one can […] add to their stay. I'm happy I did not. Boiled eggs, rice, pancakes and canned ham. Everyday the same thing is served. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Stay there for 2 nights, not once did they come clean or change the towels. Place look cheap, shower had some kind of rusts everywhere. No wifi service, just wouldn't recommend it to any one.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A little noisy for a family, but great staff!"
The staff and service were great - extended our checkout and helped with anything we needed. Location is great - walkable and affordable part of Waikiki. Only negatives were the noise and smoke from the outside of the building - the louvered windows don't do much to prevent them from entering the room. The laundry room needs upgrading. We've seen tubs […] bigger than the pool - okay that's an exaggeration, but the pool was not worth having. They also need to extend the wireless internet to the rooms - not everyone has a computer with an ethernet port anymore. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great for the Price"
For the amount of time we spend in our room it was just fine. Front desk was always prompt when we needed something!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was small but clean. I assume because we used a discount online booking site is why we were given a room right next to the elevator. I am sure if we had made a stink we would have been given another room. Breakfast was not included for the same reason, but there is a wonderful breakfast place just a half block away. The location is the winning […] point for this hotel, walk or bus to everything. We would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"good location to stay in Waikiki for those watchin"
only complaint(s) I would have about the hotel is that they need to replace the old "slated" glass windows and put in new solid glass windows. You can actually see the curtains moving due to the fact that you cant get the slatted windows 100% shut thus allowing the outside air to get into the room - thus making the A/C work harder to keep your room […] cool - and the other one is that the chrome in the bathroom has started to rust due to moisture in the air - need to replace Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice but dated"
The hotel rooms are vintage Waikiki! You can imagine Elvis hanging there. The facility was well maintained and clean. The staff is really terrific. The rooms are small so you need to be creative about luggage storage. We didn't have that much so it easily fit in the closet. Easy walk to the beach. The Food Pantry about a block away has decent groceries […] and prepared food so it was easy to find food. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The bed was comfortable. But the the continuous yelling and traffic noise from the street below, went well into the night (230am). And my room was on the 15th floor! Bathroom and shower are small, old and not very clean. I stayed in this hotel 4yrs ago and literally nothing has changed. Oh, the price was almost double. For $100 a night, good place. My only negative concern was the constant problem we had with the electronic hotel keys not opening our room door. My wife would have liked an open pool bar in the hotel and a closer proximity to one of the ABC chain stores..otherwise a pleasant stay with a very helpful staff..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would not stay again"

"wonderful place to stay"
I had a great time in Waikiki and my trip was enhanced by the stay at this hotel. Always attentive to any needs I had and very friendly staff. There is even a weekly get together with the manager for cocktail hour. Lots of friendly staff whenever I needed help the entire week I was there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms were small but I didn't spend much time in it. Convenient to beach, shopping and food. Walk to International Market. TV was tiny.bathroom had no counter space and could have used some paint. The room was quiet and the staff friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient and friendly"
We just needed a place to crash overnight in Waikiki...the Aqua Aloha Surf was perfect. Great rates, nice size room, friendly staff and very clean. We had a nice view of the mountains with a balcony. The door to the room rattled with the wind, so we stuffed a washcloth into the door frame, and then it was just fine. A nice easy walk to the beach and […] all of the local Waikiki shops and restaurants. We will probably stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointed with small room and loud surroundings"
The room was incredibly small. Not even a chair, let alone a desk. No storage space, not even a hook in the bathroom to hang something. Very poorly appointed. Extremely loud noises outside all hours of the day and night. Tiny pool that no one used. No extras or redeeming features whatsoever. "A nice affordable hotel"
I was happy with my stay. While the hotel isn't on the main drag, it's not far from it. The staff were very helpful. There is coffee in the room and I'm a tea drinker and they were happy to give me some tea bags. This is an older three star hotel and my room wasnt big, but it had everything I needed and the design was quite nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was nice. Great location. The windows didnt close all the way and the sliding door to the balcony rattled in the wind. Lots of street noise. But overall the staff was great, room was clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Waikiki Winds Hotel"
I had a nice corner room with a balcony with an ocean and city view, but the sliding door to the balcony was loose due to the heavy wind and it rattled all night. Amenities were ok, had a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee pot in the room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location for a Waikiki stay"
The hotel room was OK. IT is old and not so high in quality, but acceptable. The windows do not close completely, so it is annoying as the wind blows there all the time and the windows rattle as the pressures change with the wind. The lacking ability to seal the room tightly, is probably why the air conditioning was not as cool and dry as needed for […] the comfort of a person that lives in a cold dry climate. The room was 1210. The cable connection, where it hooks into the wall, has a poor connection and needs to be fixed as the tv was intermittently fuzzy and we finally realized that was also the problem why we could not get connected well enough to the internet. I called to ask for help with the problem, but the staff was not that interested and lacking in basic knowledge to deal with that problem anyhow. The view was nice, and we had a great vacation in Hawaii for the week. Having a locking safe in the room is of great value for peace of mind. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good Value for Waikiki"
Overall, I was satisfied with the hotel ... it's not anything outstanding, but it served the purpose. I was very grateful that the hotel was on a side street, close to Ala Wai canal, rather than being right in the crowded areas of Kuhio Avenue or Kalakaua Avenue. Whenever I drove in or out, I made sure to use Ala Wai Boulevard to avoid the traffic on […] Kuhio Avenue. One other suggestion if you're staying in Waikiki - skip the overpriced, touristy restaurants on Kuhio and Kalakaua and head to Kapahulu Avenue, which is a short drive or 15-20 minute walk away. There are some very interesting, well-priced and genuinely Hawai'ian restaurants there. And don't miss Leonard's Bakery! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value in Waikiki"
The Aqua Aloha Surf is a decent hotel for those on a budget. It's not fancy, but it's clean and safe. The pool is small but was never crowded while we were there and there's a cute little patio area. The sofa bed wasn't comfortable, but our 10-year-old didn't mind -- she was perfectly happy! Everyone was friendly and helpful -- excellent service, especially […] for this category of hotel. The only thing that disappointed us was that when we stayed there last year, we had a room with a view of the canal and this time we didn't. When you look at the outside of the building, you can tell that only one side will have views (unless maybe you're really high up). Next time we'll ask for a room on the canal side. "exceptional service !!!!"
Everyone from bellman to front desk staff manager and residents were exceptional. We transferred from other accommodations and were treated with compassionate, professional service. The hotel was very "kid" ffriendly and safe. My greatest appreciation for everyone that helped make a terrible situation for my 8 year old son and I comfortable accomodative […] and fun. "Great beach location without the price"
Staff was friendly. Room had free wired internet. Great room rate for location. Frig, microwave, plates and flatware. A block or so from beach. Easy to walk to ABC store to get food. Lots of restaurants near too. We didn't need to move car except when going to other areas of the island. Biggest problem was the noise outside. We faced a condo complex […] where people were partying out on the balcony. It seemed that windows didn't close completely because they were so loud. Would have liked more selection on TV - basic cable only - but we didn't watch much anyway. Bed was comfortable. Room had king-size bed and couch which we used to hold suitcases. Bathroom area was very small. Sink in alcove of room; tub and toilet in separate room with sliding door. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good quality at a reasonable price."
We are travelling on a budget whilst still wishing to stay in hotels or B&B's of a good quality in a good location. The Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki ticks all the boxes. Staff were all very helpful, location was superb, not too noisy at nighr, parking $20/day at hotel but we managed to find cheaper or free street parking every day. Room was tiny, but we […] had plenty of gear (including a bicycle and hard case for it) and it fit in the room just fine. We booked an economy room and that's exactly what it was, which is fine. Small but perfectly serviceable! Clean, cute little balcony with a great view (of the canal and golf course, and city, but not the beach), and we were happy. The hotel feels a little outdated and in need if a facelift, but we had no complaints. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The Staff is the BEST EVER! They are SO NICE!"
The first night we were there we had a street side room. I had no problem with it because I can sleep through anything, but my friend couldn't sleep since it was "so loud". So we asked to be moved the next day and there was a small upcharge each day, which my friend gladly paid. We were moved to a higher floor on the other side of the hotel, not on […] the street side. What a difference! She could sleep again! Our larger room even had a couch, which our first room did not have. But I mainly want to compliment the staff! I could not believe how nice and pleasant they all were. Helene and Nolan at the front desk especially! The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from all the stores and the beach as well. There are 2 ABC stores just across the street! And it's right around the corner from a Food Pantry. The rooms come with refrigerators and microwaves which is a nice bonus! It's also only a 5 minute walk (in the other direction) from a Denny's and a Starbucks. But Go to Honolulu Coffee which is the best coffee I've ever had!I strongly recommend this hotel, but if you are a light sleeper make sure you get a room that is not on the street. Trust me, whatever the difference in price is, it is worth it if you are a light sleeper! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was not what I expected at all. It was very old with an old air conditiioner in the wall. We upgraded to a king bed with a balcony and it overlooked a horribly old condo. Needless to say we never sat on the balcony. The picture on the internet looked very nice. I couldn't believe it was the same hotel. After flying 14 hours and arriving at […] approx. 1:00 pm , we had to wait until 3 to check in. We sat there for 2 hours and when we finally checked in they asked us if we wanted to upgrade. That room was ready at 1:00 and they never mentioned that to us. The bed was comfortable and the location was pretty good. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great for the couples and great for that money"
Aqua Aloha Surf hotel is just 2 bloks from the beach. It is one of the best choices for that money. Room was clean, housekeeping done everyday, also new towels. "Amazing cheap get away hotel!"
I stayed at this hotel for my college graduation gift and it couldn't have been a better choice. The beach was relatively close to the beach and many different shops were conveniently close by. I would have liked more restaurants located around the hotel but other then that the hotel was very pleasant, clean, and comfortable to sleep in. Also the price […] of the hotel didn't hurt it was a very big bonus. Be on the look out for people in the lobby though, i think locals go and hangout there to watch T.V. There always seemed to be random teenagers around the place, other than the loiterers the place was great. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"I wish I had stayed somewhere else"
I felt like crying when I saw my room, a second floor shoebox above the dumpsters. The room was so small it could not fit a bedside table and reading lamp There were no screens on windows and they did not stay open to catch airflow... the air conditioner did not work. I never was instructed how to put my card key in a slot to make lights work so I thought […] they were broken. When I called to complain they did not tell me how to activate them so,believing the bulbs had burned out, I waited for 2 hours for someone to come up. I had to go to desk and only then did I find out about card activation The only Ice machine is on the ground floor and the elevators took for ever and were very crowded. This had to be one of the worst rooms I have ever slept in. I did find the bed itself comfortable and sheets soft The only reason I booked was to get package deal with one night 2 day car rental I only got car for one day even after specifying my pickup and drop off times I was charged more for second day car rental than I could have booked any where else The location was fine but I will never stay there again. I would have felt better about it at 1/2 the price and if the desk people were more informative about the workings of the lights and the times for their breakfast service. Response by Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki I thank you for giving us a try here at the Aloha Surf. I am sorry that you had a poor experience. You were booked into one of our standard rooms on the second floor. I apologized for the lack of communication by the front desk concerning our electronic key card sensor system. This system is saving us electricity, but we need to explain to our guests how it works so they are not inconvenienced. I will share your feedback with the front desk team for their training and growth. I hope that you will try us again sometime. Mahalo for your feedback,

"Nice for the price."
As usual all the hotels charge way too much to park a car on their property (if you can find a space after you have paid). The room was OK but the size was small and the bed took up almost half the space. A chair to sit on would be a nice thing to have since the bed is rather high and you have to stand up to use your computer on the TV stand. A note […] saying how to use the internet would have saved me some money. As others have said in their comments the noise outside the hotel is extremely loud at night. Not so much the cars but the groups of people roaming the neighborhood (not tourists). They recently repainted the interiors and you can tell it was by the lowest cost possible (touch the paint and it scrapes off) but it did add some appeal to the room. I paid for an upgraded room and I felt like I was staying in a closet. I have been to Waikiki three times. This was the worst hotel becuase of price and space. Response by Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki Thank you for sharing your experience here on Expedia. I welcome your feedback and I assure you we will use it in our ongoing effort to grow and improve. I am glad you felt our staff was friendly. I am sorry you found our rooms too small. we do have three categories of rooms. Our moderate category is the smaller of the three. the Superior category is larger than the moderate and has a balcony. The Deluxe category is the largest of the three and has a balcony. There is also room enough for a coffee table and a sofa sleeper in this room category. I am not sure which category you stayed in while here at the Aloha Surf. Perhaps if you were in the moderate category, it was a bit small for you.
It is a little pricy for the area, but good and clean and easy walk to market place and beachGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Better Options Are Available"
The lobby is the nicest part of the hotel. The hotel room was comfortable, but the bathroom was in need of help. The water in the shower would go from hot to cold intermittenly. The shower tub was also in need of a deep cleaning. The location of the hotel is not preferable. The hotel is located next to a parking lot that is behind multiple restaurants. […] Every morning beginning at 5am, garbage trucks and service trucks could be heard entering and exiting the parking lot. The windows in the hotel room are slat-type windows, which are common, but do not offer much in the way of insulation against noise. The lanai in the room offered a view of the hotel pool and the apartment building next door. The hotel is two blocks from Waikiki Beach, which was about a 5 minute walk. Overall, the hotel is "Ok" for those on a budget, but I would recommend staying closer to the beach. There are other hotels that are within the same price range, but closer to the beach and not located next to a noisy parking lot. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
