"Great beach location without the price"
Staff was friendly. Room had free wired internet. Great room rate for location. Frig, microwave, plates and flatware. A block or so from beach. Easy to walk to ABC store to get food. Lots of restaurants near too. We didn't need to move car except when going to other areas of the island. Biggest problem was the noise outside. We faced a condo complex […] where people were partying out on the balcony. It seemed that windows didn't close completely because they were so loud. Would have liked more selection on TV - basic cable only - but we didn't watch much anyway. Bed was comfortable. Room had king-size bed and couch which we used to hold suitcases. Bathroom area was very small. Sink in alcove of room; tub and toilet in separate room with sliding door. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good quality at a reasonable price."
We are travelling on a budget whilst still wishing to stay in hotels or B&B's of a good quality in a good location. The Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki ticks all the boxes. Staff were all very helpful, location was superb, not too noisy at nighr, parking $20/day at hotel but we managed to find cheaper or free street parking every day. Room was tiny, but we […] had plenty of gear (including a bicycle and hard case for it) and it fit in the room just fine. We booked an economy room and that's exactly what it was, which is fine. Small but perfectly serviceable! Clean, cute little balcony with a great view (of the canal and golf course, and city, but not the beach), and we were happy. The hotel feels a little outdated and in need if a facelift, but we had no complaints. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The Staff is the BEST EVER! They are SO NICE!"
The first night we were there we had a street side room. I had no problem with it because I can sleep through anything, but my friend couldn't sleep since it was "so loud". So we asked to be moved the next day and there was a small upcharge each day, which my friend gladly paid. We were moved to a higher floor on the other side of the hotel, not on […] the street side. What a difference! She could sleep again! Our larger room even had a couch, which our first room did not have. But I mainly want to compliment the staff! I could not believe how nice and pleasant they all were. Helene and Nolan at the front desk especially! The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from all the stores and the beach as well. There are 2 ABC stores just across the street! And it's right around the corner from a Food Pantry. The rooms come with refrigerators and microwaves which is a nice bonus! It's also only a 5 minute walk (in the other direction) from a Denny's and a Starbucks. But Go to Honolulu Coffee which is the best coffee I've ever had!I strongly recommend this hotel, but if you are a light sleeper make sure you get a room that is not on the street. Trust me, whatever the difference in price is, it is worth it if you are a light sleeper! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was not what I expected at all. It was very old with an old air conditiioner in the wall. We upgraded to a king bed with a balcony and it overlooked a horribly old condo. Needless to say we never sat on the balcony. The picture on the internet looked very nice. I couldn't believe it was the same hotel. After flying 14 hours and arriving at […] approx. 1:00 pm , we had to wait until 3 to check in. We sat there for 2 hours and when we finally checked in they asked us if we wanted to upgrade. That room was ready at 1:00 and they never mentioned that to us. The bed was comfortable and the location was pretty good. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great for the couples and great for that money"
Aqua Aloha Surf hotel is just 2 bloks from the beach. It is one of the best choices for that money. Room was clean, housekeeping done everyday, also new towels. I stayed here 9 nights with my girlfriend and it was awesome. I did not find any negatives of my staying in this hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice spot. Super kind service"
The hotel is no premium but the kindness of the staff and the quality of the service was really good. Location is right on center Waikiki so it is comfterbul to get around.Genuine Expedia guest review

The rooms are clean and the staff is always very helpful and courteous. This is our fourth time staying there and never had any issues. It's perfectly located with easy access to get to where we needed to go. The beach and all shopping is within walking distance. We will be back again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Amazing cheap get away hotel!"
I stayed at this hotel for my college graduation gift and it couldn't have been a better choice. The beach was relatively close to the beach and many different shops were conveniently close by. I would have liked more restaurants located around the hotel but other then that the hotel was very pleasant, clean, and comfortable to sleep in. Also the price […] of the hotel didn't hurt it was a very big bonus. Be on the look out for people in the lobby though, i think locals go and hangout there to watch T.V. There always seemed to be random teenagers around the place, other than the loiterers the place was great. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"I wish I had stayed somewhere else"
I felt like crying when I saw my room, a second floor shoebox above the dumpsters. The room was so small it could not fit a bedside table and reading lamp There were no screens on windows and they did not stay open to catch airflow... the air conditioner did not work. I never was instructed how to put my card key in a slot to make lights work so I thought […] they were broken. When I called to complain they did not tell me how to activate them so,believing the bulbs had burned out, I waited for 2 hours for someone to come up. I had to go to desk and only then did I find out about card activation The only Ice machine is on the ground floor and the elevators took for ever and were very crowded. This had to be one of the worst rooms I have ever slept in. I did find the bed itself comfortable and sheets soft The only reason I booked was to get package deal with one night 2 day car rental I only got car for one day even after specifying my pickup and drop off times I was charged more for second day car rental than I could have booked any where else The location was fine but I will never stay there again. I would have felt better about it at 1/2 the price and if the desk people were more informative about the workings of the lights and the times for their breakfast service. Response by Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki I thank you for giving us a try here at the Aloha Surf. I am sorry that you had a poor experience. You were booked into one of our standard rooms on the second floor. I apologized for the lack of communication by the front desk concerning our electronic key card sensor system. This system is saving us electricity, but we need to explain to our guests how it works so they are not inconvenienced. I will share your feedback with the front desk team for their training and growth. I hope that you will try us again sometime. Mahalo for your feedback,
"Its a great location"
The rooms were nice and clean, the food was good, the location was great, the staff was ok, the parking was a nightmare, and the hidden costs were ridiculous.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice for the price."
As usual all the hotels charge way too much to park a car on their property (if you can find a space after you have paid). The room was OK but the size was small and the bed took up almost half the space. A chair to sit on would be a nice thing to have since the bed is rather high and you have to stand up to use your computer on the TV stand. A note […] saying how to use the internet would have saved me some money. As others have said in their comments the noise outside the hotel is extremely loud at night. Not so much the cars but the groups of people roaming the neighborhood (not tourists). They recently repainted the interiors and you can tell it was by the lowest cost possible (touch the paint and it scrapes off) but it did add some appeal to the room. "Friendly hotel but not worth the money"
I paid for an upgraded room and I felt like I was staying in a closet. I have been to Waikiki three times. This was the worst hotel becuase of price and space. I stayed in the Island colony which was my favorite due to space, view, and price. Response by Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki Thank you for sharing your experience here on Expedia. I welcome your feedback and I assure you we will use it in our ongoing effort to grow and improve. I am glad you felt our staff was friendly. I am sorry you found our rooms too small. we do have three categories of rooms. Our moderate category is the smaller of the three. the Superior category is larger than the moderate and has a balcony. The Deluxe category is the largest of the three and has a balcony. There is also room enough for a coffee table and a sofa sleeper in this room category. I am not sure which category you stayed in while here at the Aloha Surf. Perhaps if you were in the moderate category, it was a bit small for you.
It is a little pricy for the area, but good and clean and easy walk to market place and beachGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Aqua Aloha - Wonderful!"
My husband and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary in Hawaii and while debating on going for a more economical hotel versus the more expensive options, we decided to go for the cheaper one. I have to say that I am very glad we did - we booked a deluxe room and were given a room on the 15th floor with beautiful views of Diamond Head as well as Waikiki […] beach. The king bed was comfy (quite soft for more liking but that's just me), the toilet and shower were clean and the air conditioning worked fine though we didn't need it at night. My only complaint about the room was that the faucet would spray all over us when we turned it on but we're pretty easy going and it worked fine if you didn't turn it on all the way. Service was great upon check-in - Helene was lovely and extremely helpful! All staff members were extremely polite. All in all, in terms of value for money, you simply cannot go wrong. As many reviewers have stated, when in Hawaii you want to try to do as many activities as possible and your hotel really should be a place to lay your head for the night before tackling another adventure in the morning. If you're laid back, not too fussy, on a budget and want to make the most of your stay on Oahu, this is certainly the place for you! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Stay, Great Value"
This is not a resort, but if you're a hotel (not resort) kind of person, it's a great place to stay. Very close to beaches and waterway; the rooms are small but functional, updated, clean, and comfortable; the staff is all very friendly and helpful; parking on site was less than other local hotels (though still an extra charge); and the aloha spirit […] of the hotel started at the lobby, which is open air (so nice!). I read other reviews noting bugs and problems with internet, but I saw no bugs anywhere (it is a tropical climate and windows open, so it's always possible!) and was offered the internet cord for my room at check in, which worked fine. I'd stay again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, tiny room"
We had to stay 1 night before our condo was ready. The room was tiny but clean. It did have a refrigerator and microwave, and the location was perfect, just a few blocks from the beach. Room was small but it was what we expected considering the low nightly cost of our stay. We were just looking for a place to crash at night, since we planned to go out for the entire day. One of my complaints is our sliding bathroom door was not working well and often come off its plastic hinge on attached to the floor. We notified the front desk which […] had someone fix it, but after a few uses, the door did not slide smoothly again, so we just tolerated it and dragged the door to close it. The other complain is low availability of parking spots. There's a waitlist system that requires you to wait until the following morning to inquire about availability of parking spots for that day. To avoid this, I recommend paying in advance so you're guaranteed a parking spot for the days you pay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Enough hotel for the right price"
The hotel and room are humble but have all the necessities, is clean and is in a great location. The shower was also great. It lacked the frills of some of the nicer hotels but the price is right for what is offered. "Cheap, small and loud"
I was here one night, and that was enough. Like many people, I booked the 'cheap' room rate, which put me on the 3rd floor in a single. A higher floor would have cost more at the desk (something obviously not mentioned beforehand). It was the smallest hotel room I have ever seen in the US; just enough space for a full sized bed (not a queen) and a dresser […] with a microwave on top. No desk. No chair, and no space for one. It was also on a loud street next to a parking lot. Fortunately, I had come in on a redeye and with earplugs was able to sleep, since at least the bed was decent. Still, I won't be back and wouldn't recommend it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"An OK place......"
My experience in this hotel was just an okay to stay at. The rooms were small and looking out the window was just a bunch of buildings. To the bathroom, there was a sliding door that barely close for privacy. At the end of the stay, my friend and I saw a coach roach near the bathroom closet. He went downstairs to ask to clean it up and they said it […] was us that had to clean that there was no night crew. The bed was good, the AC was good, the refrigerator was ok and TV was too small but overall, I think they should try to fix up the place a little bit. There is no wifi in the rooms. "Close to everything"
We stayed at the Aqua Aloha Surf from March 20th to March 26th. We enjoyed our stay, however you can tell this hotel is a little old. The room needs major TLC. Paint was peeling in the bathroom, small black mold spots in the shower stall, stains in the walls in the bedroom area, wall a/c unit had rusted out spots where you could see the outside and […] closet doors were missing paint on the doors. Overall the room was great. The bed was extremely comfortable considering the size of the room was small but that didn't bother us because we weren't there all that often. The hotel was close to everything so we didn't have much walking to do. Parking is not included and is an additional $20 a day. The parking garage is under the hotel and is super small. So if you rent a car that is like a Yukon or Escalade, it is going to be very close to not fitting. We rented a Jeep Wrangler and it was extremely close and also the every parking spot had a huge concrete support beam in between them so it is very tight. I couldn't park the truck so my boyfriend had to do it every night. Definitely loud from the street so if that bothers you, I would suggest asking for the partial ocean view side of the hotel. This didn't bother us because we are from the city so we were used to it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The Aqua Aloha Surf is very well located to all that Waikiki has to offer. Two blocks from Kuhio Beach, a half block from the main grocery in Waikiki, and jogging along Ala Wai to Kapiolani Park at the doorstep, you can not go wrong staying here. It is a boutique hotel, so the rooms are small, the Standard measuring about 220 sq ft. by my approximation, […] but each room is nicely amenished with a very comfortable bed and a mini-fridge to store the goodies for the picnic adventures to be had.
