Staff were great. If you are on a budget, it is ok place to stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not worth it"
The place a hold on your credit card ad don't tell you it's $20 a day for parking. Rude workers. Not enough parking for guest that are staying. Way too many Japanese people wearing surgical masks. Very uncomfortable. No Hawaiians.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Waikiki Beach and Shops"
This was an overnight stay in Honolulu for action and dining on Waikiki after a quiet week in West Oahu. Our previous condo was "iffy" and had no air-conditioning....so getting to another spot was a must for air. The room was clean and nice, with a very comfortable bed. The Air Conditioning Unit however, was facing the side of the dresser - blocking […] a majority of the air. The biggest complaint was the air conditioning. Easy walk to Waikiki Beach and the great restaurants and shops and market places. The "All you can eat" breakfast was not worth it. I wish we would've gone to Eggs and Things instead of the hotel breakfast. It consisted of Pancakes (made there), cereal, milk, toast, hard-boiled eggs, ham, spam, rice and coffee. We were there towards the end, and the fresh fruit was left-over orange and apple slices that were "iffy". McDonalds is a consistent choice. I probably won't stay there again, as several hotels just 2 blocks off the beach are available and affordable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Handy to beach and Main Street."
Can be a bit noisy. Ie traffic early hours of the morning. Buffet was cold - would not eat there again,Genuine Expedia guest review
I totally enjoyed my stay at Aqua Aloha Surf. The room was small but clean and the bed was awesome. We grilled out one night by the pool which was great. The staff was super friendly and the hotel was really nice. The location was great for where we needed to be.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

It was good 4 what I nn, short stay, 3 blocks from the beach & close 2 neighborhood restaurants!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent value and friendly staff!"
We had a comfortable stay and the staff was friendly & helpful. Location is perfect as long as you are willing to walk a short distance to the beach. Price is right if you want a safe and clean hotel without paying a lot of $$$. Will stay there again in the future.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Had a fun time"
The stay was okay. The price was right. But man those rooms were small! Overall it did the trick so I can't complain.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I slept in 2 different rooms, very noisy from traffic outside. housekeeping took my beach towel and then they threatened to charge me for it. I am watching my credit card.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was nice. It was a few blocks from the beach and the main drag of Waikiki, but that was okay. The TV didn't work, and though someone said they'd come to fix it, they never showed up. Otherwise, we were very satisfied.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"not for the business traveler"
This was on the cheap..basic room, Fit ness Facilities are IN THE LOBBY.....don't bother if you want some privacy while you work out. Will be staying elsewhere When I come to Honolulu..which I do..every 8 weeks.Genuine Expedia guest review
There were so many problems with this hotel. I checked in and checked out 15 minutes later!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was clean and friendly staff. Pool is extremely small and very limited parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you don't upgrade your room will be really small. Service was great, the staff and the manager were very helpful. Parking fills up fast. 5 min walk to the beach, Iis near many shops and restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent place for a good price"
We just got back from our 7 night stay in waikiki.(6/30-7/7/13) My husband and I and our 18 mo. Old were traveling there for the 1st time as a family (my hubby and i stayed here before baby). We decided to return because it is 2 blocks from the beach, clean, (although we did find a lost slice of bread under the sink area that must have been there for […] a while). It has great a/c that even makes you cold if you leave it on long enough. The night we arrived, around 11pm on a sun., staff wasnt too friendly, not rude or anything either, just not friendly. We had tons of luggage and a baby and they didnt offer to help us at all. There werent any other guests around either. The morning staff and the rest of the staff that week and houskeeping ppl thereafter were very friendly, approchable and helpful. We did have an issue with parking the one night we rented a car, they were full and had no room for us to park the car at their hotel, which they failed to mention when we told them we were going to rent a car and asked for their policies, they forgot to mention we had to reserve a parking stall ahead of time. They asked us to go accross the street to park at that hotel and we had no choice so we went and they nicely accomodated us. The area seems to be getting worse, compared to our last stay. Two ppl got arrested on the corner where our hotel ends (we heard the commotion at 2am on the 8th floor) there were a lot more transients sleeping walking and loitering on the same block too. The staff were reasonably hospitable. The room was very small for two adults. There was no water in the fridge. The internet (Oceanic Cable/Time Warner) connection did not work in the room or at the main lobby. The louvre windows could not be operated for ventilation as it required a special tool so I had to use a knife I had on hand. Evenings there […] were a number of people loitering at the adjacent parking lot. In the morning a few drifters were hanging around at the road access to the hotel. As a budget hotel it was adequate but left nothing memorable in my mind. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"my lousy room at the Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki"
I guess I should have read the reviews before I booked the room. The lobby was beautiful, that was where the fun ended. Maybe because I booked on the internet like another traveler that I got such a pitiful room for the money. It was right next to the elevator and so tiny that two people could hardly move around the bed. There was no desk and the only […] chair squashed in next to the TV was one of those cheap plastic Walmart type garden chair. The airconditioner struggled to keep the room at a decent temperature and was so loud that we had to turn the TV up loud to hear it which prompted a call from the front desk complaining that our TV was too loud for the security man who patroled the area. The bathroom was so tiny we had to put our tolietries on the counter where the TV was in the room. My man is a big man (265 pounds and 6'2") and could hardly move in the shower, it was so small. The towels were plentiful but scimpy in size. If you book a room there ask for something other than room 513, I will not go back there again no matter how much I need a room. "Decent hotel close to beach"
The hotel is in need of some upgrades but it is affordable and just a few blocks from the beach, night life, andeateries . There is an apt building across from the main entrance that prostitutes seemingly live which was a bit unsettling. The pool is nice and the hotel conditions are manageable. Security is good. There is a breakfast package one can […] add to their stay. I'm happy I did not. Boiled eggs, rice, pancakes and canned ham. Everyday the same thing is served. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Stay there for 2 nights, not once did they come clean or change the towels. Place look cheap, shower had some kind of rusts everywhere. No wifi service, just wouldn't recommend it to any one.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A little noisy for a family, but great staff!"
The staff and service were great - extended our checkout and helped with anything we needed. Location is great - walkable and affordable part of Waikiki. Only negatives were the noise and smoke from the outside of the building - the louvered windows don't do much to prevent them from entering the room. The laundry room needs upgrading. We've seen tubs […] bigger than the pool - okay that's an exaggeration, but the pool was not worth having. They also need to extend the wireless internet to the rooms - not everyone has a computer with an ethernet port anymore. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great for the Price"
For the amount of time we spend in our room it was just fine. Front desk was always prompt when we needed something!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was small but clean. I assume because we used a discount online booking site is why we were given a room right next to the elevator. I am sure if we had made a stink we would have been given another room. Breakfast was not included for the same reason, but there is a wonderful breakfast place just a half block away. "good location to stay in Waikiki for those watchin"
only complaint(s) I would have about the hotel is that they need to replace the old "slated" glass windows and put in new solid glass windows. You can actually see the curtains moving due to the fact that you cant get the slatted windows 100% shut thus allowing the outside air to get into the room - thus making the A/C work harder to keep your room […] cool - and the other one is that the chrome in the bathroom has started to rust due to moisture in the air - need to replace Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice but dated"
The hotel rooms are vintage Waikiki! You can imagine Elvis hanging there. The facility was well maintained and clean. The staff is really terrific. The rooms are small so you need to be creative about luggage storage. We didn't have that much so it easily fit in the closet. Easy walk to the beach. The Food Pantry about a block away has decent groceries […] and prepared food so it was easy to find food. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The bed was comfortable. But the the continuous yelling and traffic noise from the street below, went well into the night (230am). And my room was on the 15th floor! Bathroom and shower are small, old and not very clean. I stayed in this hotel 4yrs ago and literally nothing has changed. Oh, the price was almost double. For $100 a night, good place. My only negative concern was the constant problem we had with the electronic hotel keys not opening our room door. "wonderful place to stay"
I had a great time in Waikiki and my trip was enhanced by the stay at this hotel. Always attentive to any needs I had and very friendly staff. There is even a weekly get together with the manager for cocktail hour. Lots of friendly staff whenever I needed help the entire week I was there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms were small but I didn't spend much time in it. Convenient to beach, shopping and food. Walk to International Market. TV was tiny.bathroom had no counter space and could have used some paint. The room was quiet and the staff friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient and friendly"
We just needed a place to crash overnight in Waikiki...the Aqua Aloha Surf was perfect. Great rates, nice size room, friendly staff and very clean. We had a nice view of the mountains with a balcony. The door to the room rattled with the wind, so we stuffed a washcloth into the door frame, and then it was just fine. A nice easy walk to the beach and […] all of the local Waikiki shops and restaurants. We will probably stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointed with small room and loud surroundings"
The room was incredibly small. Not even a chair, let alone a desk. No storage space, not even a hook in the bathroom to hang something. Very poorly appointed. "A nice affordable hotel"
I was happy with my stay. While the hotel isn't on the main drag, it's not far from it. The staff were very helpful. There is coffee in the room and I'm a tea drinker and they were happy to give me some tea bags. This is an older three star hotel and my room wasnt big, but it had everything I needed and the design was quite nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was nice. Great location. The windows didnt close all the way and the sliding door to the balcony rattled in the wind. Lots of street noise. But overall the staff was great, room was clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Waikiki Winds Hotel"
I had a nice corner room with a balcony with an ocean and city view, but the sliding door to the balcony was loose due to the heavy wind and it rattled all night. Amenities were ok, had a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee pot in the room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location for a Waikiki stay"
The hotel room was OK. IT is old and not so high in quality, but acceptable. The windows do not close completely, so it is annoying as the wind blows there all the time and the windows rattle as the pressures change with the wind. The lacking ability to seal the room tightly, is probably why the air conditioning was not as cool and dry as needed for […] the comfort of a person that lives in a cold dry climate. The room was 1210. The cable connection, where it hooks into the wall, has a poor connection and needs to be fixed as the tv was intermittently fuzzy and we finally realized that was also the problem why we could not get connected well enough to the internet. I called to ask for help with the problem, but the staff was not that interested and lacking in basic knowledge to deal with that problem anyhow. The view was nice, and we had a great vacation in Hawaii for the week. Having a locking safe in the room is of great value for peace of mind. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good Value for Waikiki"
Overall, I was satisfied with the hotel ... it's not anything outstanding, but it served the purpose. I was very grateful that the hotel was on a side street, close to Ala Wai canal, rather than being right in the crowded areas of Kuhio Avenue or Kalakaua Avenue. Whenever I drove in or out, I made sure to use Ala Wai Boulevard to avoid the traffic on […] Kuhio Avenue. One other suggestion if you're staying in Waikiki - skip the overpriced, touristy restaurants on Kuhio and Kalakaua and head to Kapahulu Avenue, which is a short drive or 15-20 minute walk away. There are some very interesting, well-priced and genuinely Hawai'ian restaurants there. And don't miss Leonard's Bakery! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value in Waikiki"
The Aqua Aloha Surf is a decent hotel for those on a budget. It's not fancy, but it's clean and safe. The pool is small but was never crowded while we were there and there's a cute little patio area. The sofa bed wasn't comfortable, but our 10-year-old didn't mind -- she was perfectly happy! Everyone was friendly and helpful -- excellent service, especially […] for this category of hotel. The only thing that disappointed us was that when we stayed there last year, we had a room with a view of the canal and this time we didn't. When you look at the outside of the building, you can tell that only one side will have views (unless maybe you're really high up). Next time we'll ask for a room on the canal side. "exceptional service !!!!"
Everyone from bellman to front desk staff manager and residents were exceptional. We transferred from other accommodations and were treated with compassionate, professional service. The hotel was very "kid" ffriendly and safe. My greatest appreciation for everyone that helped make a terrible situation for my 8 year old son and I comfortable accomodative […] and fun. Loved the massage from the onsite massage therapist. Reasonably priced. Fantastic service for coordinating shuttles, etc. Walking distance to Waikiki. Beds were comfortable too.
