The room and bed were small but clean. Staff was friendly. We were woken up by extremely loud people around 5:30 am and then roofing or maintenance began at 8:45 am. I know those are two uncontrollable variables but beyond that we could hear doors open and close all night due to thin walls and heavy doors.

it took 25 minutes to check in because the girl could not or did not know how to operate their computer. To my surprise the room is outfitted with a fouton instead of a bed. That's a first! Very much enjoyed my stay, hotel has friendly helpful staff, very cool tapas restaurant, and is just a short walk to plenty of night life and local restaurants. Theirs a free trolley that runs back and forth to Tropicana field on game days too! Be careful to feed the meters as St Pete seems to be financing their new pier on parking tickets!

This hotel was awful! They classified themselves as a "boutique hotel" -- not true. It was a very old hotel with a paint job. The room was musty and dirty. There was no soap in the bathroom. The sheets were paper thin -- I could see the mattress! I checked out a day early. I would not recommend staying here.

The rates and staff were very friendly at the Ponce. The location is perfect within walking distance to everything. The comfort of the hotel is less than desirable. Having a murphy bed in a hotel doesn't make sense to me. It is a hotel room which usually has beds as a standard? The mattress was very hard and thin. I have stayed in boutique hotels before, and this is not one of them. The over all feeling was more of a hostile. When were arrived there were 3 news crews outside the hotel. We asked before walking in and one of the reporters told us that the two hotel restaurants were closed by the health inspector the day before. They were planning to reopen that […] day. When we got to the front desk, everyone was polite, maybe overly polite since we had to avoid the media walking in. First impressions, it appeared that instead of investing to make a true remodel, it was "taped and glued" to try and mask the worn down property. When we got to our floor, the hall was damp and humid. I reserved two rooms. My room had a VERY dirty floor. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable and the lounge seat in the room was not sturdy. The windows were not painted, and the door did not reach the floor. My second room was for my assistant. Instead of a bed, she was on a futon. The showers even had shampoo from a different hotel. I understand its not a chain hotel...but this place was terrible. I checked into my room. I got in the elevator and it smelled as though somebody wasn't wearing deodorant ...got into the room and there were crumbs on the floor, dust, poorly painted room. Didn't have a vanity, just a sink in what felt to be a college dorm bathroom. Bed was uncomfy and […] sheets were ripped. Maintainence overall was bad. Paint looked shabby all over and there was half of a football used to cover a water pipe. I asked to change rooms bc it was unbearable. They were very nice to accommodate and give us another room. It was nicer and had a vanity but it smelled and was still dirty. No standardization among rooms meaning you might get a worse room than some ody else who paid the same as you. Some rooms had fridges, some had shower tub combos, other just showers...terrible. we picked a short straw for sure and got a bad room. Avoid. Good location is biggest positive. Read more

It's bad enough that there is no tub (forget champagne bubble baths) and no hot water, but no warm water either, only ice cold. When I first arrived it was so chaotic and unorganized I was unable to check in, so I left and returned an hour later. My room was dirty, the bed was uncomfortable and there was a cockroach in my shower the next morning. When I told the front desk at check out, they did apologize, but nothing more. I'd read the reviews that the location was great but the rooms were small and the beds uncomfortable. I stayed there Thursday through to Sunday. I stayed in a Queen Studio but really all the rooms are about the same size and that is small. Few rooms have any view. Bathrooms are also small. My studio had a fridg and microwave, and an unneeded Murphy […] Bed. The bed was rock solid hard and I loved it. I wish I could have taken it home. The walls are thin so you hear your neighbors and the noise in the hallway. True, the location is great in downtown St. Pete. The hotel is above a Ceviche Spainish Tapas restaurant. Very convenient to Mahaffey Theatre and nightlife of St. Pete. Only problem is at closing on Friday and Saturday there was a fight in the street in front of the hotel which I could hear on the sixth floor. The room was clean but daily housekeeping does not include a vacuum. Service was good but they don't seem to have experience running a hotel. There are no amenities except the restaurant. Supposedly this is the European boutique hotel experience. Read more

Poor service at front desk check in. Shower didn't drain wall and air unit had huge gap opening to outside. Thin walls...hear everything from hallway. Hard super firm bed hatted it. Couldn't sit on toliet no room in bathroom area wall in the way.
