"Ponce de Leon"
Staff could have been friendlier upon checking in. More information could have been available in the room about the historic aspect of the hotel. There is no parking at the hotel, meters and a garage are available. No ESPN on the TV. Speed on the elevator is pretty slow. Close to all the downtown spots.Genuine Expedia guest review
"At the center of it all"
Located in the center of downtown St. Petersburg....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was our wedding night hotel and the staff was very attentive and always had a smile. We enjoyed our stay and our room was very clean and comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was a nice little hotel room. We were on a mini vacation so we obviously didn't spend too much time in the room but neither was it dirty or not taken care of when we returned. It's in the center of a bunch of night life so we didn't have to drive anywhere which is good if you're drinking (No DUI).Genuine Expedia guest review

"Location is PERFECT. Bathrooms are tiny."
Great place if you don't need a lot of room to get ready. Bathrooms are near original-condition, not updated. Bed was comfortable and A/C worked fine. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
After booking online, I was pleased with the decent condition and friendly staff when I got there. It was located in an excellent corner right off a park, which is adjacent to ghe marina, boardwalk, and tons of eating and shoppkng. However, the downfall to my stay was when I woke up the next morning to find that the sheet didn't fit well enough on […] the bed to stay on while I slept, only to find that the matress cover below was nasty, pretty much grossing me and my wife out, killing any possible morning mood. "An unbeatable location"
My stay lasted from 4/1 to 4/6. From what I could see of the hotel, it was always clean and housekeeping was quite busy in the morning. I have no complaints about my bed, bathroom or the hotel itself aside from the air handler in my room. At one point there must have been a water leak in the window since there was staining on the roller blind and water […] damage on the wood itself of the window sill. When we would come back from a day out, the room would smell very musty. Once the air conditioner was turned up, the smell would dissipate. Unfortunately the air conditioning became so loud it would wake us throughout the night. It wasn't enough to ruin the trip, but it was a minor occurrence that was annoying. When we checked out I gave the receptionist and who I believe was an owner, my feedback. I wasn't upset or angry, just gave them feedback from someone with an entire family in construction. They were both very happy for the feedback and I swear my overall charge was a little less than originally quoted :) I will stay at this hotel any time I visit St Petersburg. One more thing, having to pay for parking across the street was annoying. We were often hit with Special Event fees despite only staying at the hotel and not attending them. A minor problem. "Conviently located downtown."
We stayed for 2 nights and saw a MLB game. The Grand Prix had been held the weekend before & the area was still blocked off to traffic. Also it was very noisy with the ongoing removal of all the barriers. Good place to watch it from tho.Genuine Expedia guest review

Cute lil hotel, parking not a huge issue, great location for bar hopping, shower was small and elevator was ridiculously slow. Would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location near pier, museums & restaurants!"
Location's a plus but the rooms are tiny, dingy furniture/decor and lap top sized TV with limited reception.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great price for location"
Start with the good. Killer location. Right across from the marina and on Central, which is full of restaurants and bars. So great location. And given the location, I got a great rate on the room. No the other... Very basic hotel. Totally basic room (bed and desk chair) and tiny bathroom. No amenities to speak of and the staff was utterly unmotivated […] to create a positive experience. When I showed up at 4PM to check in I was sent up to my room and the room was a mess - had not been made up. The next night when I came back at 10PM I found the cleaning crew had lleft my door unlatched (open) all day. Glad nothing was stolen.... No one ever asked me how things were or if I needed anything and were consistently unable to be of help when I did actually need something (EG: out of water in the room - cleaning crew never re-stocked and desk crew said they did not have any water - irritating when thirsty at 11PM). No "hi" when you walked in, etc. Just not very friendly. Feels like a motel - a room to stay in and thats about it. Terrible TV, no movies, etc. So if you are out of the room all the time doing something fun and just come back to sleep, its a great price for the location. But if you want a hotel that is comfortable and relaxing to be in and plan to spend any time in your room, go somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The beds need to be replaced. They squeaked and were very old and uncomfortable. The floors were dirty to walk barefoot. Sheets were old and nasty.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Slightly dumpy hotel AMAZING AREA"
The Hotel is located is a beautiful area of St Petersburg, the staff was very friendly and helpful .... The Hotel itself is almost charming but lacks...The mattress was comfortable but bedding was polyester and very thin. I had to go to bed bath beyond and buy a mattress cover which I put over the bedding. The room lacked an alarm clock or any clock. […] The dingy room phone looked circa 1980's and was broken... Didn't the maid notice that the phone was broken apart when she cleaned it? There was a BIG hair ball on the side of the toilet , I noticed when I was sitting in the bath tubs...not a relaxing bath . BUT OVERALL THE AREA IS SO BEAUTIFUL THAT MY STAY WAS ACCEPTABLE. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"I stayed here"
Nice location. Decent looking hotel. Staff was helpful. I like the charm of older hotels. I don't like when hotels are called "boutique" with inflated prices and all they are is old with fresh paint.Genuine Expedia guest review
"location location location"
walking distance to everywhere, but room had no full length mirror, no shelf in shower (put toiletries on floor) and poor lighting. My reservation was for room with kitchenette and shower/tub combo, but that's not what I got. Also, Hotels.com listed property as breakfast included, but there is no dining room to even have a breakfast. Luckily, good breakfast […] place was close by, but we didn't budget for them - not happy w/misinformation from hotels.com. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Depends a lot on what you need from your stay"
My feelings about this place are mixed. Overall it is a cheap stay for its location, and I loved the funky decor. If you want to be within walking distance of a lot of the fun stuff in downtown St. Petersburg, this hotel has an ideal location. If you do not have a car that's also a plus as you will be parking in a city ramp (still cheap compared to […] some hotels' parking fees) or on the street. However, the details of my room were not as advertised; we were given a full bed when the reservation said we would have a queen, and the room did not have a kitchenette. (We only stayed one night and so did not care enough to complain about either.) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nothing like pictures"
The hotel seemed very dirty. The hallways were unclean and random stuff everywhere. The rooms were small, had a musty smell and did not seem clean at all. The bathroom was very small. It was nothing like the pictures and I would not suggest staying here to anyone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It would have been nice to know that parts of the hotel were under renovation. While that part didn't affect our stay do much, having to walk through scaffolding to get to the front door wasn't enjoyable, and there was no clear signage for the entrance. Nor was there any convenient parking, closest was a block across the street, and no convenient way […] to drop my pregnant sister off near the entrance before hand due to the construction. The rooms are quaint, but nothing better than what you'd get a few miles down the road at a Best Western for half the price. Overall it's not worth the cost for convenience or quality. "not like shown on website"
The front desk personnel on checking in were very hospitable and friendly. We were dissatisfied with the inconvenience of the parking and the additional fees attached to it. The website pictures of the hotel were very appealing but were a far cry from the actual sight of the hotel. The road was blocked off for a race and there was construction all around, […] so it made accessibility very inconvenient. Trying to get our luggage and personal items from the parking garage to the hotel was a chore. The view was of the top of the next building; not very attractive. in total, nice hotel to stay in for a few days. they do not provide breakfast, a pool or other amenities, but you can find and do everything nearby in st. petersburg downtown. parking is free during the weekends and pretty cheap on weekdays in the parking garage across the street ($3-$12/day max).Genuine Expedia guest review

"DO NOT STAY HERE!!!"
The room is not as described. There are refrigerators or microwaves in rooms. The bathrooms are old and small. The sink is in the room and there is a tiny mirror. Impossible to get ready espcially if there is more then one person. The staff were rude and uninterested in helping in anyway. Was extremely disapointed in the whole experience. Would have […] rather slept in the car. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is very old but is kept up well. The rooms are sparsely furnished but liveable. The location, however, is terrific and is within walking distance of many great restaurants and pubs. "great location in downtown"
My husband and I stayed here three times during our time traveling in FL. The location to downtown activities is great! We stayed here for our visit to the museums than found out about the walk ability to all the great restaurants and bars. The hotel is remodeled and kind of depends on which room you get-some are better than others. The double queen […] room and a queen with a murphy bed had a remodeled bathroom but the single queen room had an old rusty sink. The staff was very friendly especially Sandy (sorry,i know that is not the correct spelling) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Red chaise was covered in hairs, stained pillow slips and the refrigerator was unplugged because it was inoperable; therefore, I changed rooms. Lastly, the room above me was very boisterous from 7 PM til midnight for 3 days straight. Lesson learned - never will I stay at Ponce De Leon.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location but that's about it."
We booked this hotel because of it's location to the Mahaffey, which was the reason for booking. The location was wonderful as it is close to the water and in the middle of restaurants and shopping. The staff was alright, nothing really stood out to me about them. Parking was a little crazy, just to figure out where to park. If you go on the weekends […] parking is free until 9AM Monday. We stayed on a Sunday night and we didn't want to wake up early just to put change in the meters so we opted for the garage. The garage is across the street. We paid $5 for some event and then starting at 9AM on Monday, a $1 for every hour the car was in there. The room was not in the best shape. It looked clean but it didn't necessarily feel clean. I think it needs a little TLC and some updated amenities and features. The bathroom was very small and again didn't feel clean. The hotel did it's purpose of being a place for us to put our head for the night. However, I don't think I would recommend or go back to this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We are avid preservationists and therefore didn't mind the inconveniences of an old building. We treasure character and location more than large bathrooms and fast elevators. We had a 5th floor room facing the bay and enjoyed watching the sun rise and cruise ships and sail boats on the water. We will definitely stay there again next year.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My college-age daughter favor boutique hotels. Rolled the dice with this one. Well worth it. Never stayed in a hotel with all hardwood floors everywhere. Very cool. Smallrooms & bath but very cool & sized for 1922. Keeps the history alive & well. Cable tv lacked reception on some channels & elevator was slow...but how fast are we @ 92? All in all, PdL […] is cool & perfectly positioned on Central & Beach blvd. Just perfect for walkingeverywhere fun & to trolley stops. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"great location, rooms need updating"
I enjoyed my visit, the room I had, had a very musty smell that was overpowering. The front desk gave me a can of deordorizer. "Dated but Convenient Hotel"
The Ponce De Leon is a half updated, half dated hotel. It is on the smaller side but within walking distance to everything in the area. The Dali Museum, Bike rental shops, restaurants, bars and even the grocery store. The room we booked for our 4 night stay was a one bed, this room was seriously the size of a shoe box. We called to see if we could move […] after the first night and the staff was very helpful & even found us a bigger room at no extra cost. That was great. The hotel itself has very odd decor and nothing really seems to be cohesive but, it serves its purpose. The bed in the first room was very hard but the one in the bigger room was better. We didn't get a chance to dine at their restaurant Ceviche, but it is nice that it's there I suppose. Overall, I'd say it is a great deal in a great location. We did not spend too much time in the hotel being that we were out and about most of the time but, the showers worked, the bed was decent and there is a refrigerator in every room. That's all I can really ask for in a hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel experience was odd. It felt less like a hotel and more like a random place to room for the night. The room was large, but not terribly clean. Except the bed, which was oddly pristine. The bathroom was dated but functional. The tile and grout had seen better days. The location, however, was pretty ideal. Lots to see very nearby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to Jannus Live"
The hotel was quaint, not the fanciest. There are not a lot of amenities and the bathrooms in the rooms are tiny!!!! The location of this hotel is about all it has going for it. If your staying just one night, it is convenient and well priced. If not, then I suggest looking elsewhere.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unique and stylish; quality lacking"
Location is very convenient to dining and other activities, and the hotel has a boutique decor and feel, but the devil is in the details, and this is where the Ponce de Leon is lacking. The mattress on the bed dipped a bit in the center, the doors on two pieces of furniture (the stand-alone wardrobe door wouldn't open all the way because it was badly […] warped, and one of the vanity cabinet doors in the bathroom had loose hinges so it operated oddly. The bathroom was actually nicely finished with tile on the walls and floor, but some of the grout in the shower had mold/mildew and the window in the bathroom had been fitted (poorly) with manually applied opaque material. The material provides privacy, but the material was cut ~ 1/2" too small in each dimension so it looks a bit sloppy. The TV was also small (~19"?) compared to most hotels in this star level. Still, with the exception of the bed, most of the issues identified above are not show stoppers, especially if you get a reasonable nightly rate for a room here. If you are not overly sensitive about your mattress needs this would be worth trying once. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
