"Loved Our Stay"
We loved this place. We had a deluxe king room. We were right on the river. The room was so comfortable we didn't want to leave. It was also spotlessly clean. The staff were helpful and cheerful. We enjoyed peace and quiet which was just what we wanted.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Pretty good for a hotel in Kamloops"
I bought our stay from Expedia on a discount. I wouldn't pay the full price to stay in this hotel. The ranch is a little outside of the city with great view from the balcony, but I thought the rooms are overpriced. If you're going for golfing in Kamloops then this hotel is recommended.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very good customer services. All our special needs were addressed by the hotel. If you have your own car and love to have a peaceful get-away, this is THE place to stay in Kamloops.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Gem in Kamloops"
Lovely Kentucky-Style Inn with great Interior and Exterior, friendly staff and fantastic grounds. Will definitely stay there next time we are in the area.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very nice hotel. The only problem is that is not located close to Kamloops amenities, 25 minutes drive to Kamloops downtown. If you are looking for relaxing this is a good spot, but if you are looking for a hotel just to sleep and move around, this hotel is far from everything. Also it is complicated to get there as the address is not in most GPS's Again, […] the hotel is very nice if you don't mind the location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Don't stay anywhere else. This guest ranch is excellent: a lovely setting and a quiet retreat in a hotel with charm and an elegant atmosphere, The food is nothing short of outstanding and the staff are friendly and respectful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Staying to play golf and tour"
Very good hotel. We enjoyed our stay. Food in restaurant outstanding and only disappointment was no cooked breakfast. Lovely setting and very friendly staff. The outside entrance could do with being tidied up a bit but inside was clean and very comfortable. Nice small swimming pool and hot tub with lovely views of the river. Similarly nice decks on […] some rooms over looking the river and valley. Would recommend Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by South Thompson Inn & Conference Centre So happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and we are very appreciative that you would recommend us, thank you. We tried hot breakfast but not enough guests wanted this so our continental breakfast satisfy most guests. We do have hot breakfasts on those days we have organized breakfasts for groups. David. .
Nice room with wonderful view, but mattresses were very uncomfortable, way way too hard. There were three adults in our room on two queen beds, and we all had a very uncomfortable night on those mattresses. Otherwise room and ammenities in it were great. We arrived around 7pm, after a 10 hour car trip and after check-in headed immediately for dinner […] in the dining room. We were turned away and told we would need to eat in the bar, because we had no reservation, even though the dining room was 3/4 empty. I was quite put off by this. The food was very good though. The wonderful view and outdoor space made the stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"South Thompson Inn & Conference Centre"
They operate the wrong post code and admitted that "most people take hours to find them". They claim, on their web site to have an aquestrian centre where as in actual fact they keep petting horses. Their so called delux room has neither a safe nor a fridge. Their breakfast is ddreadfull. The staff are plesent but useless. They have not got a lift nor […] do they have assistance to carry baggage to the upstair bedrooms. They are rated number 1 in the area on trip advisor. I do really wounder as to how that is possible. "Unable to accommodate change"
We had troubles getting to the hotel due to highway issues. When we tried to contact the hotel to adjust our reservation, they obviously took the phone off the hook as others would be having the same issues. We tried for over four hours to get a hold of them to no avail. They obviously did not want to have to deal with a lot of travelers having to do […] the same. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Evening Meal was expensive and very poor quality - promised asparagus - gave us horrible corn, scalloped potatos cod and partially raw. Trout was very good and Tin Horn Creek wine was excellent.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Off the beaten track in Kamloops"
Wonderful spot for one night or a few days. Good food, terriffic grounds and quiet. spacious rooms quiet balcony and great restaurant. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Will go back againGenuine Expedia guest review
The rooms are fantastic and the staff are very attentive. The only drawback is it's a bit far away from anything, but if you don't mind a bit of a drive it makes for a quiet and relaxing place to rest your head.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A nice relaxing weekend getaway for my husband and I. The hotel is a little dated, the hot tub wasn't overly clean and the train was noisy in the middle of the night. Walls/doors seem a little thin. The service was great and the location is amazing. Continental breakfast was good but not worth $10. We used the free breakfast coupon from trip advisor. […] I would stay here again if the price was right. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Lovely hotel with friendly staff. If you have to stay at Kamloop (which I don't recommend), this will be quite pleasant. There is a golf course next door and there are horses and lamas on the property. It is a long way out of town which I think is a plus but this may be inconvenient to others.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very quiet location, nice view of the river, would have been happier knowing the pool and the hot tub were closed.Genuine Expedia guest review

This is a picturesque setting with horse paddocks and llamas grazing. The rooms we has were fine but rather dated in decor. We dined in their restaurant rather than drive back to Kamloops and the food wAs excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Staff is very friendly, food was excellent. Quiet, beautiful location. We were staying for a weekend long event in Kamloops, and the hotel is a bit of a drive (though an easy one) from town, but we felt it was worth the extra drive to return to such a relaxing, comfortable at […] mosphere. "South Thompson Inn - Perfect stopover point"
We stopped here when driving from Vancouver to Jasper in the Rockies. It's a perfect place for an overnight being just outside the town on Kamloops. Staff were super friendly, our room clean and comfy (if a little chintzy) with 2 double beds and a nice view. The bar / restaurant on stie was good and reasonably priced. We ate outside on the terrace […] where you get a view over the river. There is a an outdoor pool to lounge by, plus paddocks to explore and bikes to use. It's a little out on it's own, a drive back into Kamloops if you want anything, but that wasn't an issue for us as the hotel had everything we needed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Property right on the river"
07/31/14 Andrea W Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Dog Friendly Inn right on the river. I found the rate a bit expensive for what you get. The patios are shared. There is no coffee maker in the room (although they will make you a coffee if you ask) and no fridge (we had dog food to chill) our room was facing the golf course and it was a nice view but I bet the river side was a nicer view. The staff were super friendly and it was great to wander around the property looking at the horses and llamas. There are no restaurants within walking distance and the Inn's restaurant is pretty pricey but the food was AMAZING! my husband had the local trout, and I had the BC Salmon... All in all it was a nice place to stay just outside of Kamloops.
"A beautiful, quiet oasis by the river!"

A superb place to stay between Jasper & Whistler!! We booked the South Thompson Inn last minute as, having read bad reviews for the hotel we were due to stay in at Sun Peaks, we decided not to stay there. What an excellent change of plan for us! This place is a beautiful oasis in the dry surrounding countryside. We were allocated a stunning King room overlooking the river with a lovely balcony to chill out on. The staff were all SO friendly & courteous- nothing was too much trouble & the food was superb. The swimming pool by the river was a perfect temperature - a lovely place to cool off & relax with a view of the river. The hotel is only a short 15 minute drive from Kamloops - but definitely worth a slight detour to stay at such a lovely hotel! The weather was 10c hotter than expected at this time of year at 38c, but the rooms were cool, with very quiet efficient air conditioning & were actually cool enough to manage without the A/C overnight. The hotel & grounds were well kept & immaculately clean. This is a family owner/run hotel. We met the owner & his daughter & they are very "hands on" with a real passion for their property. I will be recommending this hotel to the travel company I used as I was so impressed by it! We could not have wished for a better place to stay - next time we will stay longer as one night was just not enough!!
"best mistake we ever made!"

We booked this hotel for an overnight stay after checking the location on line - this is the only issue that would get a negative mark, but it is not the fault of the hotel (more to do with Google maps). Our plan was to get a room that was on our route home - turns out the hotel is about 15 minutes outside of Kamloops in a different direction, but the time was well worth the reward! We were surprised to find that this is actually a picturesque riverside guest ranch with a lot of character! Horses, llamas, and even painted turtles reside there, adding to the variety of things to do and see right on site (we didn't actually see the turtles, but also didn't have time to fully tour the property - assume there were there somewhere). The staff were friendly and most accommodating. The rooms were clean and well kept, with balconies and comfortable beds. Lovely outdoor pool (open til 11pm) and Jacuzzi (open 24/7) were perfect for sunning during the day and star gazing at night. The scenic grounds make for a beautiful walk (or bike ride - they even provide the bikes!) and, while we're not golfers, the dozens of golf carts parked nearby would indicate a busy course. The lounge and restaurant were affordable and the food was delicious! The facility is also well set up for group functions - would be a terrific destination for a wedding. We are glad that we did not end up in the middle of the busy city (though that is exactly what we expected when we booked), and would certainly go back for a few days if we're passing through that way again - hopefully have enough time to truly appreciate everything this facility has to offer!
07/21/14 Mimi T Kelowna, Canada
We decided to go on a last minute one night escape from fire-ridden Kelowna and came across the South Thompson Inn. So glad we did! Instead of some generic hotel-chain, the South Thompson Inn had more of a resort feel with gorgeous views, a very relaxed atmosphere, and loads of character. If you are looking for the sleek, modern hotel look, this is not the place for you but if you are hoping to get away from it all, be surrounded by serenity, charm, and beauty, this is it. We arrived a little early but had no problem getting an early check-in. Receptionist was so friendly and accommodating. Getting exactly the view we wanted was no issue at all! Our dog was happily accommodated, too and greeted with treats and doggy bags. We had a wonderful relaxing afternoon by the pool, which is so scenic, you are truly on vacation. Kids loved all the pool toys available and probably tried out every single one. Took the dog and kids for walks on the vast property, visited with the horsed and llamas, let the dog cool down in the river and just enjoyed our afternoon. The drive into Kamloops for dinner was not long at all but then we never felt like being in a rush... Other than having noisy neighbours for the first part of the evening (probably more audible through connecting doors?), we enjoyed a very quiet and restful night. Beds are wonderful with good mattresses and fluffy duvets. Got to wake up to the lovely view of the river and my husband getting fresh coffee from the lobby (which is much better than what those in-room coffee makers could produce, although I have to admit, I like my coffee stronger but that's just me...). They even offer to bring coffee to your room but the lobby was so close, I would have felt silly bothering anyone for that. Check out was quick, easy and very friendly. From there it was only a hop and a skip to the Wildlife Park, which we had planned to visit that day. Even though we only spent one night, the hotel and grounds are so lovely with so much to enjoy, it feels we truly had our getaway in such a short time. We will be back for sure, hopefully not driven away by fires again!

"Poor to average"

4.5 stars??? Really folks? Get out much? This hard to find place is located a good 20 minutes of driving outside the city centre. When & if you find it, you will find yourself driving about a kilometre down a single-lane driveway. Romantic isn't it? Well not if you have to wait for the incoming/outgoing guests. The place has not had any major/minor renovations since the 1980s? Olllld fixtures, pictures, furniture, carpets, 12 litter flush toilets, air conditioning units(which makes them laud in addition to inefficient), cracked tile in bathroom, black at spots to missing grout, ... It offers no fridge, complementary breakfast, no sign on the exercise-room & no water,.....for upwards of $120/night. It did have 6 or so LED lights. Pine floors in our room. Better than average exercise-room and LED lights. Large mirror in the bathroom. Do not pay more than $85/night. Lower than than & I would recommend it. Higher than that...drive right past Kamloops altogether, nothing to see here.

A place of tranquil beauty and green spaces. The hotel, designed in a country estate style, is a beautiful landmark nestled against a picturesque river. The interior reflects the equestrian theme of the inn with interesting art. Our room over looked spacious lawns and we enjoyed breakfast on a sweeping veranda featuring wicker furniture. The reception and restaurant staff were beyond friendly - they were more than welcoming - we so appreciate their assistance. The rooms, while well-appointed, lack in-room coffee service. However, service is provided in the reception area. We particularly enjoyed a stroll of the grounds including river-front, horse corrals and meandering stream.

my husband and were in need of a quiet overnight get away . booked in one night for the sunset and sage package . it was the BEST.!!!! from the moment you drove on to the grounds you were in a very good place. staff excellent. the pool just right. our snacks and meals were a 10 . watched the evening sky ever changing. fell relaxed in to our king size bed.
Stayed one night at this lovely out of the way hotel in Kamloops. Very nicely appointed facilities in a quiet expansive landscape. The hotel is a "ranch" on many acres of what appears used to be an active enterprise. The room was large with comfy king size bed and little sitting area. Nice balcony overlooking the South Thompson River and well-kept lawns and gardens. Staff was friendly but a tad "laid back" and not enough of them when we checked in.
"What a great find just 25 kms east of Kamloops"
07/04/14 Helen R Canmore, Canada
We three related family seniors were greeted most efficiently and graciously at South Thompson Inn desk staff evening of June 17th. Our room faced the river and we ate our Subway supper on the balcony. Had a nice little cool down in the pool and warm up in hte hot tub before bed. The coffee (tea) pot always available in the library downstairs was an especially nice touch. Fun to look at their photo album in the foyer of all the special events they have hosted there along with many weddings. Got a photo in the black carriage outside and we enjoyed the bikes that were available to see more of the property. Checking out very personable and we both received our Visa receipts.
