"Nice beach!! Nice area!! Awfull room."
The hotel itsef has a nice area, lots of green, an excellent swimimpool and thebeach....fantastic!! Beach is quite, clean, white sand, and eventually you can find an ellephant wlkingin the beach. But...the rroms are awfull!! Bed is really bad, old, not clean paintng in te wall and the doors, thesafe never worked and mine, was one of the best, pool view! I would recommend Phuket, the beach, the girl tha arranged all tours throughout the islands, but not the hotel. There are nice resorts around, better then Amora. Look around in Laguna.

"Good hotel, great pool - location not the best"
Really enjoyed our stay here - clean rooms, good buffet breakfast (apart from birds flying in/out of dining area). Staff were generally OK - some of the dining room staff weren't very helpful/friendly. Free Internet in the lobby was slow and intermittent at times. Lovely large pool, kept very clean. No real complaints and would stay here again. The beach isn't great - wouldn't recommend staying here if you want a lovely beach. It's dirty and worn out buildings. Some renovations at this hotel also going on. Location is OK, but without your own transport, it's not the most convenient. (We hired a car, so it was no problem). A supermarket (Tesco Lotus) is 1.5km away, with other shops and restaurants also in the area. Local taxis are always waiting outside the hotel eager for business! Tour desk at hotel arranged day tour for us which worked fine. Good range of cable TV channels in the room.

"Good family getaway w cheap pricing"
Old but worth the $ paid. We got upgraded to suite due to ac prob in our room but room seems filthy w dust but no complaints since its free upgrade. We book a room in front of pool but end up w a room at the end of walkway. Overall experience is good n we think that breakfast is good for that price. No wifi is a real setback though.

"Needing a update."
Stayed here about 12 years ago when it was Rydges and it was very nice. Looking very worn now and needs a bit of an update. Nice pools and good size rooms which were clean. Beds old and uncomfortable and one flat old pillow each. Nice spot on the beach but newer resorts in the area now. Staff not to friendly like in other resorts I stayed at not even a welcome smile or a hello when checking in.

"Thank you Amora - we will be back"
This was our first time at the Amora Beach Resort, as we wanted somewhere where we could have time out after a hectic year, and we loved it. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a Deluxe Pool room which was great. All staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. The swimming pool was huge and was kept spotlessly clean, also the beach was clean and the both the sea and the pool waters were warm. There were plenty of restuarants nearby and the one that we went to most was the Sugar Cane - lovely food, and not expensive. Even the food at the hotel was not expensive. We will definitely go back to Amora next year as we were simply spoilt, Angela

"Amora disappointment"
This was our third visit to the Amora Beach Resort in Phuket, the room was pleasing the bed rock hard, servicing of the room was very good in regard to changing of sheets and new towels both bathroom and beach on request. The service from the staff at the breakfast restaurant was exceptional as was the pool staff. The front office staff left a lot to comprehend, very negative on local market trips as advertised as an outing which we had used previously. The major upset was that the hotel was approx. 30% in capacity and when we requested a late check out were told that this would be at additional cost, after three visits and this holiday being for 18 nights found this very disappointing as result we would not recommend to others or be returning ourselves.

"2 star.. Not more."
I have stayed in 10-15 different 3-4 star hotels in Phuket. This One is compared to the others the worst One. Bad service, not clean and bad food (breakfast, dinner) Stay at another hotel.. It just not worth it to stay here.

"Not as expected"

The homepage of the resort gives of an impression that was very different from the reality. The hotel has got mold in the room interior, we were thinking probably because of the damages after the tsunami in 2004. But then I dont think they can price 2750 norwegian kroner for 1 week with hotel and rooms in such bad condition. And the cleaning was also bad. I looked behind the bed, and it was so much old dirt..the staff is friendly, but speaks very little english. When the taxidriver from the hotel drove us to the airport he put on mariah carey on cd. He drove fast, so I told him to drive slow. He thought I meant I wanted him to put on a slow song, so he put on Cant live without you for the third time...The beach area is the big plus. And the pools. Expensive beer and drinks by the pool. The food at the hotel restaurants was not very tasty and not worth the price. There is a really good seafood restaurant down the road to the left when you get to Tesco.

"Great value hotel"
03/09/15 Dave D Crewe, United Kingdom
This is the second time we've stayed here, the first being in 2005 after the tsunami. It felt a little disappointing after staying in city hotels in Bangkok and Saigon, but that soon changed once I'd got used to beach life again! We had a Deluxe Pool View room, which was great. Spacious, nice view of the big pool, and all the amenities you need at a beach hotel room. Maids were great, and the room was clean and smart. Breakfasts were included in our 9 day stay, and were great with a great selection. The highlight of this hotel for me is it's location, price and staff. It's a pleasant walk from the room to the beach, though we stayed at the two pools most of the time. The beach has lost most of its bars and restaurants following the clear up, and the beach is stunning as a result. Prices at the places selling food and drink were quite high I thought, and the hotel was actually quite competitive with them and was well used. Massage staff were great, as were the prices. Bit disappointing to only get a single towel each, and that free wifi was limited to the lobby only. But it's a beach hotel, and we really enjoyed our time there. Recommended.

The first time vacationing with her lover in Phuket and stayed in Amora Resort .... we were in August, if everything was fine, we rented a car and often went outside the hotel, as the people had very little at the time. They saw that we left in the morning and the evening came from shopping)))) Departure before we decided to get a massage on the beach, I left my purse in the room with $ 600 before going to knock on the doorgirl with a man came to clean the room ... we came back an hour later ((((( when I took my wallet I saw that it is empty((((( and I have nothing left .... I thought for a long time .. .. and realized that the girl did not even cleaned it came to steal money .... because at night I crushed a mosquito, and he is still lying there! So the first impression of this hotel negative!! Never want to go back to the Amor BEACH RESORT Phuket (((((((((((((((((((((((((( NATALIIA OSCAR AUSTRALIA & UKRAINE 2011

"Third time at this hotel - just as good!"
04/30/14 Helen_of_Oz Melbourne, Australia
I never stay anywhere else when I visit Phuket. This hotel is located at Bang Tao Bay which would be half way between the airport and the seedy Patong. It is a fairly quiet location which suits me. On this stay in April 2014, the hotel was more crowded than usual. Russian school holidays it seems. Yes, we were the only Aussies staying there - which also suits me. Regardless of their age or body shape, the Russians bare as much as they can get away with. Not a pretty sight most of the time! I stay in the same room every time! My huge room is a just few steps to the pool and just a few more to the beautiful uncrowded beach. Unlike Patong, Karon and Kata, there are no roads to cross to reach the sand and paying to sit on a beach chair. Suits me. Not in April again though - not because of the humidity but because every room was occupied. First time that's happened on my visits.

The pool and the fact, that there were not many other guest at the same time, were the best thing in this all ready a little worn out hotel. Staff was mainly nice and helpfully. AC in the room was noisy. We will not stay there again: there are so many better places in Bang Tao for same amount of money, and less.

"Few tips for both parties"

We were there in January this year returning from Phi-Phi. First what surprised us was ferry boat. Please consider this as completely inconvenient process unless you have rucksack or narrow carryall with big wheels. All passenger luggages are stored random on the stern of the boat creating two meters hill. Plesae do not bother yourself with digging up yours one. Take it ease and wait till other passengers pick up their cases or luggages which are on the top. This is a big mess and all seem to be out of control. Please bear in mind that the gangway is very narrow and made of wood with sort of steps across. Do not be surprised if there will be another boat to pass it through. Do not rely on the crew. It is very seldom when boat staff will help you. The rucksack are the best for ferryboat trips. Amora Beach welcome us with very pleasant welcome drink. In the first stage we were given a room on the first floor. This means there: ground floor in deed. Knowing that we asked for upper room. It was no problem with getting second floor room. Rooms were quite large with big bathroom. What was surprised - bath without shower. Although mixing tap was equipped with pull-knob-valve to use a shower ( this is a tipical solution accross the world) there was no shower!!! No shower hose, no shower handle. Nothing on the wall. Nothing on the roof. I was astonished and asked receptionist to show me another room and .... There were no shower hose in the bath in any room. Only taps... It looks like smoething was missing on the design stage. There is a stand-alone quite big shower in the bath-room. Don't worry!!!. We have never used bath itself... This was really funny. Rooms are large and clean. Housekeeping staff were doing their job very well. The most quiet rooms are situated in the seaside buildings with balcony facing to the threes. Rooms situated at the pool are good as well. Water falls are started arround 10.00 and stop around 20.00. The pool was the biggest I have ever seen. Every day pool-claenar was doing his job very good as well. However there is very clear information not to use pool after 20.00 and this is also in Russian language ( ca 90 % of guests ), some holidaymakers seem to be not understand their own mother language...... Breakfast - this was the same everyday. We are not sure if youghurt was natural nicely speaking. A lot of fly in the fruits as there was no covers. I think the food was a biggest problem during whole stay there. Even al'carte meals were far from expectations. There is no cash machine. You need to go to next hotel app 5 minutes walking. There is no Wi-Fi available in the rooms. To use internet - you need to go to lobby. This is another drawback. Something positive is that Bang Thao is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. There are a lot of small restaurant with very tasty food. There is a Tesco supermarket around 5 minutes driving. To use taxi to the airport - you can take a one from parking opposite hotel. Although prices are fixed, there is a narrow margine for negotiation. Please book a taxi a little earlier to get a reasonable price. It looks like there is something to do for Amora Beach Resort managers... Hope this will be of help. Good Luck!!!

We visited the hotel as a loving couple just for one night - luckily - on our way to ko phi phi . As far as we can judge the personal is not to friendly, the roums were lousy dirty and full of mold in the bathroom ! The aicondition smells horryfiing ! The breakfast is less than average, the beach looked crowded but we cannot judge that truly . All in all we would not come back , btw lots of russian people . We wanted to skip xmas but were awaited by loud xmas songs all day a santa claus puppet better than disneyland etc etc

I hate giving bad reviews but I want to be as honest and fair as possible. Strangely it's the bigger resorts that disappoint more often than the smaller places. Amora is a let down. The staff are awful - 3 reception ladies and they still couldn't get it right. They seemed more interested in having a little chat with each other than sorting out my room. I stood around for ages while they all looked lost. Then when they finally figured it out they had no idea how to use the credit card machine.... It is a HUGE resort but there is no mini mart or ATM. They have a gift shop with empty shelves and they seem to use it mainly to store dusty, unused furniture. The rooms are clean-ish but really could be much better. The pool needs to be cleaned properly and they need to learn how to use the chemicals properly. And WAY over priced.

"Quiet relaxing place in busy Phuket"
09/25/12 arab520 adelaide
We have stayed here three times. The hotel rooms are well fitted out, we stayed in a pool view room on the ground floor and paid around $50 Australian through Expedia. It's great value for money. Beautiful pool and often we were the only ones in it. We were there at a quiet time, not sure what it would be like in the busy times. We have no complaints about the room or bathroom, both were very clean and had everything we needed. Every Monday and Thursday from about 5pm there is a local market down the road near tesco, about a 15 minute walk. We can recommend the food there, have bought food there each trip and have had no problems. Tesco is handy to get everything you need. We caught the local bus near tesco and went to Phuket town, then changed buses to paying, cost us 110 baht for the two of us, then got taxi back for 500 baht. The only negative about amora beach is the lack of close eating places at this time of the year, but we would definitely stay there again.
