The hotel itsef has a nice area, lots of green, an excellent swimimpool and thebeach....fantastic!! Beach is quite, clean, white sand, and eventually you can find an ellephant wlkingin the beach. But...the rroms are awfull!! Bed is really bad, old, not clean paintng in te wall and the doors, thesafe never worked and mine, was one of the best, pool view! I […] would recommend Phuket, the beach, the girl tha arranged all tours throughout the islands, but not the hotel. There are nice resorts around, better then Amora. Look around in Laguna. "Good hotel, great pool - location not the best"
Really enjoyed our stay here - clean rooms, good buffet breakfast (apart from birds flying in/out of dining area). Staff were generally OK - some of the dining room staff weren't very helpful/friendly. Free Internet in the lobby was slow and intermittent at times. Lovely large pool, kept very clean. No real complaints and would stay here again. The […] beach isn't great - wouldn't recommend staying here if you want a lovely beach. It's dirty and worn out buildings. Some renovations at this hotel also going on. Location is OK, but without your own transport, it's not the most convenient. (We hired a car, so it was no problem). A supermarket (Tesco Lotus) is 1.5km away, with other shops and restaurants also in the area. Local taxis are always waiting outside the hotel eager for business! Tour desk at hotel arranged day tour for us which worked fine. Good range of cable TV channels in the room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Thank you Amora - we will be back"
This was our first time at the Amora Beach Resort, as we wanted somewhere where we could have time out after a hectic year, and we loved it. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a Deluxe Pool room which was great. All staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. The swimming pool was huge and was kept spotlessly clean, also the beach was clean […] and the both the sea and the pool waters were warm. There were plenty of restuarants nearby and the one that we went to most was the Sugar Cane - lovely food, and not expensive. Even the food at the hotel was not expensive. We will definitely go back to Amora next year as we were simply spoilt, Angela Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This was our third visit to the Amora Beach Resort in Phuket, the room was pleasing the bed rock hard, servicing of the room was very good in regard to changing of sheets and new towels both bathroom and beach on request. The service from the staff at the breakfast restaurant was exceptional as was the pool staff. The front office staff left a lot to […] comprehend, very negative on local market trips as advertised as an outing which we had used previously. The major upset was that the hotel was approx. 30% in capacity and when we requested a late check out were told that this would be at additional cost, after three visits and this holiday being for 18 nights found this very disappointing as result we would not recommend to others or be returning ourselves. Arrived after 10:00pm. Check easy the girls behind the desk were inviting and friendly. We were given 'freezing' cold towels to cool off and a juice. They upgraded us to a deluxe room free of charge. the room was large and spacious. Tiled floors, king bed, large bathroom, writing desk, cupboard space, TV with 90 stations mostly Thai but a reasonable […] amount of English shows and to my husband's delight the Golf Channel, two single chairs with a coffee table, small verandah overlooking the pool and plenty of room to move around. If booking ask for a ground floor room as you just walk off verandah straight into the pool, so convenient. The bathroom was clean but being white the grouting did need some attention. We ordered off the room service menu the dearest item was tenderloin steak 490ba but 10% service charge and 7% tax has to be added on to bill. Breakfast included Thai foods such as noodles and fried rice, seasonal fruits, French toast, eggs, cereal, sausages, rissoles, ham, tomatoes etc you wouldn't go hungry. The pool is magnificent and extremely clean. There is also a pool side bar. No free Internet. You can purchase 1, 3 or 7 days. 3 days cost 590ba approx $20AUD. The resort has a tour desk to go to patong beach or Phuket town costs 350ba round trip and leaves several times a day. Staff helpful and rooms services well each day. Russians must love this place they are everywhere. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cheap and cheerful"
It was ok. Room a bit musty and breakfast sucked but it's convienently close to the airport. The beach is nice and there are plenty of Thai restaurants no more than 15mins walk or cab ride away.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Our favourite spot"
We have stayed here 6 times over the past 10yrs. Although the hotel is starting to look a little tired from the outside we still feel it represents excellent value for money. Located right on the beach it also has loads of lovely grassed areas and two pools. Although almost full on this occassion it still did not feel busy, unlike neighbouring hotels […] which in comparison looked crowded, loud and too busy. Not 5 star but this is reflected in the very reasonable room rates. Staff are very friendly and professional, rooms spacious and all with either pool or garden views.
Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The pool and the fact, that there were not many other guest at the same time, were the best thing in this all ready a little worn out hotel. Staff was mainly nice and helpfully. AC in the room was noisy. We will not stay there again: there are so many better places in Bang Tao for same amount of money, and less.
"Quiet relaxing place in busy Phuket"

We have stayed here three times. The hotel rooms are well fitted out, we stayed in a pool view room on the ground floor and paid around $50 Australian through Expedia. It's great value for money. Beautiful pool and often we were the only ones in it. We were there at a quiet time, not sure what it would be like in the busy times. We have no complaints about the room or bathroom, both were very clean and had everything we needed. Every Monday and Thursday from about 5pm there is a local market down the road near tesco, about a 15 minute walk. We can recommend the food there, have bought food there each trip and have had no problems. Tesco is handy to get everything you need. We caught the local bus near tesco and went to Phuket town, then changed buses to paying, cost us 110 baht for the two of us, then got taxi back for 500 baht. The only negative about amora beach is the lack of close eating places at this time of the year, but we would definitely stay there again.

"I wouldn't stay here again - there are better hotels on Bang Tao for less money!!"
01/04/12 chunnabee Sydney
I stayed at Amora Beach Resort with my mother, father and younger brother, and I wouldn't stay here again. When we arrived, instead of having a queen/king bed for my parents and two singles for my brother and I, there were only 3 singles. Another bed had to be brought in and instead of changing us to a room with the beds we paid for, they pushed two singles together for my parents. There was a terrible sewerage smell outside our room that lasted the entire time that was putrid and strong. It was so bad on the second day we asked to be moved because it was just unbearable. I think it was from a Garden View to a Pool View. Also the bathrooms are disgusting. Not well cleaned at all. It's bad when you don't even wanna shower or go to the toilet in the room you're staying in! The pool was OK, and the beach was pretty crowded with people in lounge chairs. There are much better and more relaxing spots on the beach further down at other hotels. The buffet breakfasts were probably the best part of this place, they weren't that good but they were better than anything else!
"Too many Russians - hotel lowered standards"
11/05/11 kreeve Bath, UK
Have stayed at the Amora many times over the past few years and have always enjoyed it (did have a lovely welcome back) - but would never stay there again. The hotel is predominantly full of rude, arrogant Russians, who flout hotel rules. The hotel is now scruffy and tired looking. The pool closed at 9pm, but people still using it at 3am keeping us awake. Reception staff very good - breakfast staff miserable and unfriendly (which has never been the case in previous years) probably fed up with miserable russians. Breakfast awful - didn't even serve bacon. Rooms still lovely, pool lovely, grounds lovely, lovely beach. Will never return to Phuket whilst Russians still around - have totally ruined it - Phuket now is expensive - stayed in Khoa Lak before coming to Phuket (no Russians there) and significantly cheaper to eat and drink and more relaxed and friendly. Absolutely gutted that Russians have ruined our piece of paradise.

Having stayed here 4 years ago and loved it, I booked again with my partner for 6 nights and successfully requested the same room I'd had before (Delux pool room - 1210 - @ $77 AUD a night, an absolute bargain). Our room was on the ground floor with a balcony that led to the larger of the 2 swimming pools. The room is very spacious and clean. I don't recall the mattress being as hard the last time though. It was my partner that commented on it - I probably wouldn't have noticed. I love the location of this hotel as it's not too busy and congested like Patong can be. The usual breakfast buffet was on offer (included in the price). The large selection was pretty much the same every morning so perhaps more variety would have been nice. The staff here are terrific and greeted me warmly (especially Alex) having remembered my last stay. We had room service on 3 occasions which was very reasonably priced and delicious. We seemed to be the only Australians on site which suited me just fine. Most of the guests were Russian and Chinese. Not many children were staying which is another plus for me! The tour desk girl was lovely and helped us choose a couple of day trips. The hotel grounds meet the sand to the beautiful waters of Bang Tao Bay. There are a few permanently erected stalls on the beach selling souvenirs and clothes. A few restaurants are also within walking distance right on the beach. For a 3.5 star hotel, this is just perfect for me and I will stay here every time I'm in Phuket. My partner was equally impressed with everything on offer. (although next time he may request a slightly softer mattress!)

The rooms are clean and comfortable. The buildings from the outside are not super nice. Lots of German and Russian tourists. Huge hotel with a lot of rooms. Very near the beach (100m). Staff is OK, not amazing. Average ++ hotel, good value for money.
"Good Hotel and value for money"

My wife and i stayed there for 6 nights in August this year. We had stayed there last year as well. This hotel is good value for money. The rooms are a good size with everything you want. The resort has 2 large pools where a lot of the time in the off season you have half the pool to yourself. Hotel also has its own beach area with chairs and umbrellas. Large grounds. In the off season eating areas outside the hotel are scarce but we had a couple of meals in the hotel which were good quality and reasonably priced. Every Monday and thursday there is a good market within easy walking distance of the hotel. The only draw back is the amount of dogs hanging around the hotel and the area is very quiet in the off season. Staff were very friendly and when our power went off one night they immediately came round an fixed it at 11.00 p.m.

When we arrived, there was no water. Didnt think to tell us when we checked in. Water was off for about 5 hours and ran brown for the next day. Lovely. When we checked out they still intended to charge us for the c.50p of water we used from the mini bar as a substitute! No apology. We booked online and paid about £30 a night. This was too much in my view. Their published rate at reception was over £100!!!! Room very out of date. Fridge rusty. Mould in bathroom. All paintwork slightly yellowed. Restaurant didnt have the food offered on their menu, hence, i guess, why every one of their restaurants was empty every night. Good buffet breakfast though. Very nice beach, though pestered a lot by sellers of junk. Mostly German people.

We live in Asia, so a little jaded about beach hotels since we visit so many. Was leary about staying here due to mixed reviews, but was booking late and looking for something away from Patong, near airport. First choice of hotels were booked. So, the beach is fantastic. Wonderful. the best. The pine trees make a wonderful shady area between the pool and the sea Awesome!- which was a non-negotiable for us (our criteria included: on the beach, pool, some shade). The breakfast is not amazing, but it is very large, with large choice of foods, and stuffed us. So thumbs up on the breakfast, as well as the breakfast area - I love eating outside. Ditto on the cheap and pleasant beach cafes. Room was roomy - lots of space! Outside of buildings aesthetically bad - lots of water marks and ACs sticking out and creating heat and noise (and are ugly of course). I knew from reviews we'd be isolated, and that was no fun. The walk to the Tesco is fine, but not possible with a 5 year old in tow, and dangerous for child (no shoulder in several areas). Its a long hot walk..night market near Tesco is cool for local foods and tourist junk/clothing. We liked the temple as well (if Tesco is behind you, turn left on the main road and its on your right very soon.) Rented a car for one day to see Gibbon place, and do mangrove kayaking (jeez was it boiling hot!). So not a horrible place, but I wouldn't particularly recommend it. Cheaper and better I woudl guess in Kata and Karon? It was quiet. We like that.
