It was the best hotel stay in years because of the staff. So attentive, helpful and friendly. Great location near the Sultanahmet district with a gorgeous view from its terrace. Elegant lobby area. Small hotel, big service.

The staff really takes an extra effort in making sure your stay is exceptional. They have genuine concern and are extremely helpful. We are so thrilled to have stayed at the Dersaadet. We stayed in a corner room/suite (sleeps 3). I will definitely book rooms there again!

This is a great little hotel in a fabulous location, near the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Topkapi Palace, and with a roofgarden overlooking the Sea of Marmara. It is one of our favorite small hotels in the world.

We picked Dersaadet Hotel mainly due to its reviews and ratings online. Yet, we were amazed to find that the Hotel's quality, value, location, service, and atmosphere were much better even than we expected. We got two rooms, for parents and adult children. They upgraded us to rooms with beautiful views of the sea. Both rooms had minor maintenance issues […] with the showers. And that is the only thing I can possibly say that is negative. Other than that, absolutely perfect. Excellent breakfast, very helpful and friendly staff, and a great location very close to the Blue Mosque and Hippodrome. It is small enough that the staff knows you. Several mosques are nearby, and yes the call to prayer comes very early in the morning, but the chanting is beautiful and you can barely hear it with the windows closed. I would highly recommend Dersaadet Hotel to anyone! Read more

Simply a great place to stay. Within blocks of Sultan Ahmet Square, yet just far enough away to be in a lovely, quiet neighborhood. Just returned from a six day stay at this very nice smaller hotel. The location of the hotel is superb in relation to the old city of Istanbul attractions. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The accommodations are comfortable, clean and up to modern standards. The breakfast is more than adequate and served in a room/balcony with tremendous view over the Marmara sea. There is no real opportunity for other meals in the hotel but in view of some great restaurants in close proximity this is not a real problem. This hotel is for people that love to travel and who want to get close to the culture of the country they are visiting. Do not forget to make use of the one man laundry next to the hotel. the trip to Istanbul was terrific .i had an excellent time. we stayed in the sultanhamet area it was absolutely wonderful. walking distance to major attractions, mass transit(which was easy and quick to get around with). the people, the food and the places to see were fantastic. also went to Bodrum, which was also a nice area to visit. the people, food […] and things to do and see (town , marina and castle were really nice . took a day trip to ephesus to see the ruins a must see. our trip to turkey was wonderful with great memories wish i had more time to see other areas. would definitely go back and would recommend to anyone. They assisted me and my sister in giving directions to some of the local museums, which really helped as we were quite nervous..it being our first holiday alone. The hotel is in a fantastic location, many of the main attractions were situated in the main square surrounding the blue mosque. […] The mosque is approximately 5min or less walking distance. Don't bother getting the tram in this central location unless you wish to travel quite far away..even the grand bazar was only a 30min walk from the hotel if you follow the tram line towards it. The hotel was close, ten minutes walk, to the Blue Mosque in a quiet area. The reception area and lounge were very neat and tidy giving a favourable first impression. Our room was on the first floor, 302 ironically, and was tastefully decorated and big enough although not large. A previous review had said the rooms were cold so I can only assume the owner had taken this to heart as I had to turn the heating down on the first day and it was always reset when we returned to our room at night! The breakfast was served on the roof terrace, inside whilst we were there as it was quite cool, but this opens out onto an open terrace that has a wonderful view. Having chosen this from the internet, we were not sure how good this would be. The hotel is a small, friendly business. The rooms were small by US standards, but average by European standards. Heating was very powerful - not sure whether cooling is OK for summer. Shower room was spotless, with a very hot powerful shower. Breakfast included was good for us, and on a beautiful terrace on the top floor with views of the Blue Mosque and the Bosporus. This hotel is very nice - it certainly has character and the staff are very friendly and - convenient for English speakers - are fluent in English. We had the room with the Turkish Bath which, as we were explained by a staff member, is more about the name than the actual experience. The rain shower was lovely, but there is a large marble basin by the […] shower which is entirely decorative. It doesn't have a drain and we were told that we had to scoop water out of it ourselves. Additionally, the floor of the shower is also the floor that leads into the WC and sink - so when you have a shower it floods the entire entrance into the WC. We had to mop up and place a towel to make our way into the WC. While the room was described as ground floor, it's actually the basement of the hotel. There are windows, but are at the level of the sidewalk outside so offer no privacy and little light. Breakfast (included) was great and the view from the top floor restaurant is fantastic. I would say that the hotel is worth a visit but the extra fee for the 'Turkish Bath' is not. I'll be returning to Istanbul in August and will try a different hotel rather than return. So - we were quite satisfied, but ultimately not wowed. Read more
