Breakfast was below average. Un-drinkable coffee and juice machines. Low-grade meats/cheeses. Yogert was good. packaged cookies good. In the room, shower stall was most remarkable. No shelf to put soap or shampoo. Shampoo left on the floor. Shower stall was smaller than a coffin. You couldn't bend down to grab the shampoo without crooking your neck […] and your buttocks touching the cold wall. I'm average size woman. Would not stay again...mostly b/c of poor breakfast. I like our hotel, it wasn't the most modern or the biggest but it fit in with the old city. The location was fine enough, short walks to wherever you wanted to go really...you walk anyway wherever you go. The bathroom did not sit well with us due to the fact that is shower was right there by the toilet with hardly a door to keep water from going everywhere […] and no where to put anything. Our first room smelled very bad! They changed us immediately. The hotel is old, but so is Venice. The breakfast buffet was just OK and not wonderful. The staff was nice and the room was clean. The location is EXCELLENT, especially for the price of the hotel.

Location of the hotel can make or break the stay. This hotel has a great spot, located a short walk (5 min.) from St. Mark's and slightly farther (7 min.) from the Rialto Bridge. Since you walk almost everywhere in Venice this is important. The hotel itself is very pleasant. The room was tiny but attractive with a gorgeous Venetian glass chandelier […] and a small balcony overlooking the adjacent street. The included breakfast was merely adequate (we skipped it most mornings). There was only one working electrical outlet in the room, an inconvenience for charging batteries, especially since the power does not operate when you are absent from the room. However, the wifi was good and complimentary. The Nuova Gorizia restaurant adjacent to the hotel (same mgt?) was good, and literally across the narrow street was one of the best restaurants we found: the Bistro de Venise. For the price of this hotel, you won't find beter in Venice. Read more

The Hotel refered to this room as superior. I thought it was average. It wasn't unpleasent-it was a typical European hotel room-on the smaller side based on American standards. The breakfast was fine- a good mixture of offerings.

Our recent four night stay was good overall. The hotel is centrally located between San Marco Sq. and the Rialto Bridge so you are right in the middle of all the activity. The rooms are small and dark and the hotel could use some renovation. The breakfast buffet is quite extensive. Overall, it was OK.

Mario checked us in - he did a great job of handling 6 rooms checking in at once and was even able (after some fun running commentary) to accommodate all of the requests we had made with reservations. The location couldn't have been better! Walk out the front door to the left and you have a 5 minute to Piazza San Marco. Walk out the door to your right, 5 minute walk to the Grand Canal and very close to the Rialto Bridge. The rooms were adorable (we had two) with victorian furniture and wallpaper. My only complaint it that our shower seal had broken […] and it leaked all over the floor. Other than that, I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone who likes the old European feel with modern comforts like A/C and bathrooms. Good location. Breakfast was quite adequate, but if you're looking for ham and eggs, this is not for you. Room was very nice and clean. Very important for us. The only draw back, was the shower. Staff and service were excellent. Size and cleanliness of the room were superior. The only drawback was the air conditioning that only cooled the room to about 80-F. Happily, the weather was mild enough that this was not a big deal, but I would avoid this hotel for that reason during July-August.

This hotel has a great location right between the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. This is one of the few hotels that offers handicapped accessible rooms and an elevator. Some of the rooms are rather oddly shaped. In one, the room was extremely narrow and the beds were laid end-to-end. And you may or may not have a European-style bathroom.

The hotel is in a GREAT location but overpriced for what we received. Of course, we expected a smaller room (even though it cost more--it is, after all, Venice). But there was no television at all in the room. We were not told about this at all until we asked about its absence. Then it was "I'm not sure." Location was only a few minutes from San Marco Square one way and a few minutes to Rialto Bridge the other. Great location for sure. Breakfast was adequate. Great location. We had a quad room, which turned out to be two rooms, which were next to each other and had another door to secure that area. That was nice. The rooms were good although the showers were very different. One was a self-enclosed shower with amazing hot water and great pressure, the best of a month long trip in Europe. One other note, which may be common, but I haven't had it happen before was that if you wanted to have them hold onto your luggage after you checked out, they stored it in the lobby, including an area out of the reception clerk's sight right next to the elevator. Excellent location; this Hotel sits smack in the middle of the Rialto Bridge boat landing and St. Marks Square. Beware of restaurants (recommended by the hotel clerk) where the prices are not clearly indicated. Ordered a fish priced by weight, it ended up costing very many Euros. Otherwise our stay in Venice was amazing.

Strengths: This hotel is very close to St. Mark’s Basilica and Doge’s Palace. It is tastefully decorated and most of the staff was very nice. Initially I was disappointed b/c my family arrived on a rainy day two hours before check in and the girl at the reception said we had to wait two hours to check into the room, although the room was ready! So I […] was just going to leave the luggage and check in later. A different lady told me the room was ready, without me asking, and said we could go check in and clean up. She was kind and appeared concerned for our comfort. I was thrilled b/c I was drenched from lugging suitcases in the rain. The breakfast buffet was a nice touch. There was cereal, croissants and other pastries, juice, coffee, yogurt, toast, etc. It was just enough to start the day with energy. The room was clean and cute. I would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future. Weaknesses: Can’t really think of anything. They didn’t have power adapters available for guests.
