"Met all expectations for a Paris hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Traveling with two little kids (5 & 1), we had the junior suite. It was very clean and spacious (paris hotels are notorious for small rooms). Staff were very accomodating, friendly and helpful. Location is great with the RER and metro right outside doorsteps. Starbucks just outside, two malls within blocks and a good shopping area while most major sites are within 30 minute walking. Reccomend.

"Good deal for the price"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The room was a little small but had twin beds, desk, chair, closet, and luggage stand. The windows opened and there was a fan available in the room if needed. Good cafes in the neighborhood. Metro station very close. We would use this hotel again.
"Five star experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
This was our second stay at Hotel de Vendome and it topped the excellent experience that we enjoyed in November 2010. We were upgraded to a corner deluxe suite for an anniversary trip and welcomed with red rose petals in the room. Every detail of the hotel is first class with a very warm and friendly staff. Breakfast in the room every morning was a luxury followed by a walk in the Tuileries just a block from the hotel. If you're looking for the ultimate elegant boutique Parisian hotel, then you'll find it here. We'll be coming back to this one again. Bon voyage.

This is an area of transit, with two mainline stations and a dozen Métro links. Gare du Nord is the terminus for Eurostar and trains to Charles de Gaulle Airport. The main sights are glass and fan museums and the 17th-century archways of St-Denis and St-Martin. Ethnic shops, markets and restaurants on Boulevard du Strasbourg and Passage Brady (‘Little India’) and lively cafés along Canal St-Martin make atmospheric diversions.

"GREAT STAY"
ENJOYED THE HOTEL THE CONVIENIECE OF BEING CLOSE TO EVERYTHING BUT IN A QUIETER SETTING JUST OFF THE BEATEN PATH TV HAD ALMOST NO ENGLISH PROGRAMMING BBC NEWS LOOP ONLY
"Hotel Magenta, Paris"
We chose this hotel based on price and nearness to the rail station. However it was still pricey for such a small room. The breakfast was good. The neighborhood was iffy. The "free" wi-fi only worked sometimes. It may have been worth it to spend a little more and be closer to the atrractions.
"Stay was good and what was expected"
I read the reviews and booked the hotel knowing it was not going to be a 5 star hotel. It actually was very nice accomodations and the personnel were helpful. We aere able to store our luggage both prior to checking in as well as when we checked out and were not leavbing until late that evening. The only negative was that the TV did not work but since […] only staying 1 night it was not a big issue. Read more
"Perfect Boutique Hotel"
Great location, subway station nearby, grocery store nearby, very clean, extremely professional and helpful staff. I am a single female visiting Paris alone, I felt very safe, and comfortable at the hotel. Will definitely stay here the next time I'm in Paris!!
"Hotel Magenta Paris"
Hotel and rooms themselves were clean but the bathrooms could use some updating. Very close to a few metro stations and a main train station which was very convenient. However, the surrounding neighborhood is not the safest place at night.

"The hotel magenta paris, one block from metro"
The hotel is clean, bathroom very clean, confortable bed, room side average for paris, frienlly people, inglish and spanish speaking, not far from center paris, one block from metro station.
"Hotel Magenta"
We arrived to the hotel in the morning and the staff informed us immediately about the storage location for the lbackpacks and the extra restroom facilities with showers in case that we would like to us it. Although the room was not ready what we really needed was a placed for the backpacks, so that worked perfect. The three bedrooms suite that is on […] seventh floor has a nice view and the two bathrooms and that was very convinience. The other three bedroom in the six floor is really small, I will not recommended. There are a lot of restaurants near the hotel and the metro location was great. It was like 50 meters from the hotel. Our reservation did not include breakfast so, for that reason I can say much about it. Read more
I got the room for a 30% discount using the internet websites I reviewed. . The hotel common rooms ,(lounge, reception, dining space ) were well appointed. The rooms were small with inagequate closet space but the bathroom was excellent. Staff was very accomodating and knowledgeable

"HotelMagenta Paris - close to Gare Est train"
Hotel was good for a tourist hotel. Had everything a Paris tourist would need. Bath and shower were fairly large for Europe.. Flat Screen Cable TV was clear and bright with at least 25 channels. Stocked refrigerator. Air control in room. Plenty of light and mirrors. Fairly quiet. Inexpensive bar across street and convenience stores close by. Bed was […] comfortable but low to floor. Front desk was 24 hours with good English speakers. Read more
"Good Choice for this Part of Town"
The hotel isn't a bad choice for this part of town. It definitely seems better than a lot of the competition. Room was decent size, average bathroom, with a full size bed (not two beds pushed together). Refrigerator in the room. You can tell the hotel was updated several years ago, but several items are already starting to show wear - dings in the […] walls, stains on the carpet, etc. There is no European charm, but the modern styling is nice, although some of the color choices are questionable. The front desk staff was mostly very helpful, except for when I was trying to get an iron - they told me they were all out and basically refused to let me know when someone brought one back - told me to just keep checking back. Overall, if you're trying to save a few bucks or are in this part of town for business, this is a solid choice. Read more
"Excellent hotel for the price"
Very happy with our stay, clean rooms, delicious breakfast and perfect location. The hotel is very near subway stations and bus stops. The area around the hotel has many bars and cafes as well. We also were very happy with the kind service we received. The women at the front desk was very accommodating and english speaking. We will stay there again […] ! Read more
"Magenta Hotel Paris - Good location, great service"
The hotel is in a very convenient location, a very short walk to almost every metro train line that a tourist would use to see the sights. It is walking distance to Sacre Coeur and a quick metro ride to all of the other sights. (And after experiencing Paris only once, it seemed that most of the main sights are fairly spread-out, so being in any hotel […] by any of the sights means you are only close to one or two sights and still need the metro/train to the others.) Taking a left out of the hotel and walking down about two blocks, we found a great little pastry/sandwich shop that we went to for breakfast each morning (I think it was called Brook's Cafe) and it was very reasonably priced and tasty. Audrey, Magenta Hotel's employee who checked us in, was an absolute delight and made our stay even more enjoyable! She was extremely helpful in giving us directions, suggestions on where to eat, arranging tours, and generally answering any questions we had. Read more

"Great place to stay"
This hotel is close to the train stop around 500 meters from Gar del set and 1000 meters from Republicue Train station. Very clean and friendly staff. Great breakfast comes with the room. Rooms are small but clean.

excellent service. Excellent breakfast. 5 mn walking to a main train station and 2 mn from the Metro. Perfect. I would keep the secret for myself, so I'll be sure to get a room next time I go to Paris....but they were so nice that I want them to be successful.
"Good hotel for the money"
Easy check in. Friendly receptionist, good service. Good location, convenient to Metro station. Price was fare, size of room as expected for the price. Quit hotel, nice that included wireless internet access and breakfast.
"Magenta Hotel Saty"
Great time. We will be back!
"Good location and service, basic amenities"
Very good location close to Gare de L'est. Nice overall hotel but rooms are very small and basic. Good value and great breakfast which is included. Good metro access.
If you speak english and you can navigate paris' metro system this is a good place to stay..its a 5 minute walk from gare du nord...this gives a traveler access to metro and regional trains...as well as charles de galle airport
"Excellent gem for short stays in Paris"
As a scientific researcher who has to do business travel on a shoestring, this was one of the best experiences I've ever had in a European hotel. The owner is really making a serious effort to accommodate the expectations of American guests. My economy room had a full-sized bed, a refrigerator, and a well-appointed (and odorless) bathroom. The centralized […] AC was a little on the weak side. However, there was an additional stand-alone AC unit conveniently tucked away in the coat closet. The location was centrally convenient to most of Paris with a metro station a block away. The neighborhood felt perfectly safe even at midnight. The security in the hotel was quite sufficient. I felt no qualms leaving my laptop in my room. Breakfast was excellent by Parisian standards. There was a plethora of hot and cold selections with juice and delicious coffee. The only complaint I had was that the elevator was a little on the weak side. The sign posted stated the capacity was 150 kg but I'm guessing it was closer 130 kg. In the morning, the elevator refused to move with me and my carry-on luggage at the same time. Since I was in a hurry to catch a plane, I was forced to take the stairs which was very unpleasant because I was still recovering from abdominal surgery three weeks prior. Granted, I'm 6'2" with a rugby-sized frame but I think the elevator could use a little bit of an upgrade. All in all, it was a wonderful stay. In my case, I just needed a room for the night while I transited between the Thalys high speed train and the airport. For this purpose, Hotel Magenta was perfect. However, I would wholeheartedly recommend this property to anyone visiting Paris on anything less than a gazillion dollar budget. Read more
"Hotel Magenta, comfortable and convenient"
Our room was right across from the elevator, but it was remarkably quiet. The window opened out into a courtyard, the architecture was very french, and all in all it was quite pleasant. The bed took up most of the space but this was to be expected. In Paris, like New York, London, or any big city, one doesn't get much space, but why stay indoors when […] there's a wonderful city to explore outside? Read more
"Nice, Less Expensive Hotel"
Stayed here on my last night coming from Vienna before my return to the USA. Very nice, little, affordable hotel. Would stay here on future visits.
"Highly recommendable"
We stayed in two double rooms in early August. A very nice hotel, small but very clean rooms, AC good, service excellent, very friendly treatment in general, breakfast buffe highly recommendable if you like anything more than a croissant, and very competetive pricing. Close to the Metro, which is really cheap compared to many other European cities. […] Will come back anytime! Read more
"A Gem on Magenta!"
Got off the Thalys at Gare-du Nord (North Station) picked up a tourist guide at the station. Then I headed down Boulevard de Magenta to the hotel (btw, it's a slight downhill walk from here; noticed that when I was heading back to the station); it took about 20 mins mostly b/c I was looking around most of the time. Got there and was pleasantly suprised […] when the glass doors opened to see a new/modern looking hotel, which didn't seem to match the outside much. Check in was a breeze and the room was clean, stocked, and nicely tucked in a corner away from noise. Before heading out I stopped at the front desk and picked up one of there free maps which had a "HOTEL" spot marked on the map; I used this map and the pocket guide w/o andy problems during my whole stay in Paris. I then walked outside to the left about a half a block to the Jacques Bonsergent (Line 5) stop and jumped on the metro to my next destinations...The next morning I woke up and headed downstairs to the breakfast buffet...awesome! Had my fill of croisants, eggs, sausage, bread, yogurt, coffee and fresh juice : D At the end of my stay I check out just as easily and stored my bags until later that day when I picked them up for my journey back home...... "Magenta Hotel in Paris - don't go in the summer"
The temperature in our room never got below 83F the entire time we were there. We selected this hotel because it advertised air conditioning. There was a thermostat in the room which had no effect. When we spoke to the people at the front desk they said the air conditioning wasn't working because it was hot outside. There was also no ice available in […] the hotel at all. We were only there when we had to sleep. Read more
"Don't stay in summer -- air conditioning mythical"
DO NOT STAY HERE IN THE SUMMER. We chose this hotel because we knew it can get hot in Paris in the summer and they said they were air conditioned. We have no clue what they mean by that. Occasionally some air came out of the vent. But it never went below 83 in our room at night, even though it went down to 75 outside in the morning. We tried opening […] the window in the morning to cool things down, but even that didn't work. And we were on a busy street so there would have been no way to sleep with the window open. After the first night, we complained. Our friends complained the following morning. We were all told that the engineers had come and the system was working fine. But, they said, "It is very hot." Yes. Duh. That is generally when you care about A/C. So, bottom line. They advertise A/C. They do not have it. They do not admit that they do not have it. Thus you can be completely miserable. And we were. Read more
"Good Location, bad air conditioning"
At first, the Magente looked a good choice. Very convenient location (North and East train stations at walking distance), and a clean appearence. But we end up suffering - again in Europe - with the careless atittude towards the air conditioning. For a person who suffers with very high blood pressure, air conditioning is key. The room is OK, internet […] works fine, and overall I would give a C+ or even a B-, but the "air issue" is really bad. Simply do not work, even after several complaints. Read more
"Hotel Magenta - not when it's hot!"
The staff on the whole were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast adequate. No drawers in room for clothes and room very small. Difficult to move between end of bed and desk.
"great size and comfort for Paris"
wireless, public computer, friendly staff, comfy bed, near Place de la Republique and the Canal.
"Great Hotel in Paris"
I booked this hotel in the aftermath of the Iceland volcano incident. I was looking for a nice, reasonably priced hotel that was in a decent location. The hotel is located within walking (20 minutes with luggage) of Gare du Nord, and is within 5 minutes of the Jacques Bonsergent metro station. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and speak English […] very well. The room was nice, and extremely clean. There was a minor problem with the air conditioning, making the room somewhat warm; we simply opened the window to cool things off. The breakfast buffet was very nice and well maintained by the staff, and it included more than the usual continental breakfast that is usually included in the US. Overall, I was very happy with the hotel. Highly recommended. Read more
"The purple palace"
I booked the hotel 4 days prior to arriving. We were seen to straight away, the front desk staff were very helpful, spoke good English and friendly. Our room was very clean and serviced daily. The breakfast was mainly continental, with a pleasant selection of choice. I would recommend this hotel, and if the occasion arises again, we would use there […] services. Read more

Things I liked: - Receptionists were very helpful, courteous, and spoke English well - Room/bathroom was clean and decent sizes - Modern decor in lobby - Free internet use in open, safe area (vs. in a secluded, basement room) - Complimentary and delicious breakfast buffet - Quiet - Close to Metro stations - I was able to find a discounted rate or deal […] for the cost of my stay Things unfavorable: - Temporary luggage storage room is not "guarded" by hotel personel; The room is locked, but any guest can request the key and retrieve luggage unsupervised. - Wished there were more eateries/restaurants around Read more
"Great Hotel"
This is a good hotel but a little away from some of the main attractions. This hotel was farther away from the main train station than posted but closer to another station with a similar name. Great complimentary breakfast buffet.
"Wonderful little hotel in a great location"
This was our second stay at Magenta, and I'm sure we'll return again. Firstly, it's located very close to Gare du Nord (10 min walk at most), and is only 2 minutes from an underground stop (Jacques Bonsergeant). Secondly, all the reception staff speak flawless English and are incredibly friendly and helpful. Thirdly, the rooms are modern, clean, […] well laid out and air conditioned. Fourthly, there is free wifi, plus free use of computers in reception. Fifthly, and perhaps most importantly, they do a superb breakfast which is just what you need before setting out sightseeing! "Good overall"
Good bargain from a travel site. Renovated a couple of years ago, very good condition. Nice staff at reception, spoke good english. Breakfast was nice. A fairly good location, 15 walk from Gar du Nord. 5 min walk to Republique metro. There is one station even closer but it serves only one line. Rooms small but nice and clean. Recommendable.
"Hotel Magenta Paris"
Great hotel, very nice convenient and clean with good staff and service.
"Hotel Magenta Paris, France - Recommended"
Hotel is located on busy street approx 15 mins on foot (downhill) from Gare du Nord. Our room was at the rear of the hotel which was quiet. The lift is slow and always seem to be busy & at one point broke down completely but it was repaired quickly. Reception staff very friendly & will speak English without any prompting (remember this is Paris) so […] this is a real bonus. Breakfast tickets can be purchased from the front desk at a reasonable price. Paris is an expensive city so make the most of the breakfast - it is not spectacular but will keep you going until lunch where it will cost you €8-10 for 2 cafe au laits let alone lunch. All in all a fair hotel with nice staff well located (if you make good use of the metro). Read more

"Hotel Magenta, Paris"
A clean, comfortable, friendly and modern hotel in a reasonably central location in Paris. Also the hotel is walking distance from Gare du Nord (Eurostar) and Gare de l'Est.
