Holiday Inn Express and Suites Newark - Heath - Heath

Overall the Holiday Inn Express was good but I had one issue. When I checked in I asked for a wake up call for a certain time, I am still waiting for the call, when I complained at the front desk they offered no reason for not getting the call or an offer of some sort of adjustment.

They had a fire recently and we could still smell the smoke in room. The outside of the building was covered w/plastic because they had not put the stucco up from the fire. The pool was not working nor do they have a hot tub. The breakfast was good and the room was clean.

We stayed one night while visiting a nearby college. The walls were very thin, so we heard every noise. The room faced a a restaurant across a parking lot and the drapes would not close. The bright lights from the restaurant shined through the window all night, making it difficult to sleep. At check-in, the guy at the desk had a mouth full of tobacco […] and therefore could hardly speak clearly. The only complaint I had with this hotel was that it was advertised as having a hot tub but when we arrived we found that it had been filled in and no longer was available.

Hotel wasn't built with enough sound insulation. Can hear people above you walk and can hear television between rooms. Room next to breakfast room had a heater that sounded like it was going to throw a rod every time it turned on. We stayed here for our 1 year anniversary. It is close to local shopping centers and of course Longaberger Homestead (within a half hour). The Longaberger office is only 9 minutes away. The hotel is approx. 12 years old and doesn't look much over 3 years old. This was the nicest hotel we have stayed in yet. We stayed at this HI Express on a move across the country. Even though we checked in late at night, the desk staff was friendly. The breakfast had a good variety and included a pancake maker. We appreciated the large room with space to put our Pack-n-Play and extra luggage.

My daughters 8U travel softball team stayed at this hotel for a tournament. The front desk staff was by far the friendliest that we have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. My daughter's softball team stayed a weekend and we had 8am games both days. Usually, the continental breakfast does not start till 7, but the staff opened it at 6am so that our girls and families could eat breakfast before hitting the fields. What a great staff!!! We were in town for a wedding in nearby Newark. Overall, the hotel was nice - the staff was friendly, the hotel is in the heart of a well-developed area with lots of dining options and things to do. The breakfast was small, but it did have several options available and based on anecdotes from other people we knew staying in other hotels, we got a pretty […] good deal for breakfast. There were a couple of issues, however. First, we asked for a nonsmoking room. While the room itself didn't smell of smoke, there was an ashtray in our bathroom and we were next to a smoking room. The hallway on our floor smelled of smoke, despite 90% of the rooms being nonsmoking on that floor. So that was disappointing. The other disappointment was that the walls were kinda thin - so we could hear everything that our neighbors were doing, what TV show they were watching, etc. That probably means that they could hear us too, which is a bit unsettling. Long story short, we'd stay there again, but if placed on that floor again, we might ask for a different room on a different floor. Read more

My first night of two was actually wonderful. The second however ruined all satisfaction. We always reuse our towels once to conserve water. I grabbed my towel off the shower hook on the back of the door and it was covered with ants. I often find the staff at the Holiday Inns wonderful, and this one did not disappoint. The room and facility were very good. The only less satisfactory part was the breakfast. The eggs at the buffet were all overdone or burnt. I would repalce the staff that oversees the breakfast bar.

The staff was very polite checking in and out. The room was fine -- bed was comfortable; shower drain was a little slow but tolerable. It was clean, too. A self-serve breakfast was included that I would rate as certainly adequate, though maybe not as nice as the best. We have stayed there more than once.

the only mis understanding was I was told it was a 2 room suite with 2 king size beds and a living room with pull out couch. there was only 1 bedroom with a king so it was a little tight with the number of people we had.

I hate to write a bad review of this hotel because the staff was great. The hotel, however; is awful. It sounded like the walls were made of cardboard. Not only can you hear EVERYTHING your neighbors are doing, you also hear the traffic all night long. The hotel was hard to find - it's on a very busy road and not well marked. My 5 year old daughter […] and I stayed for 2 nights. The room was not cleaned for the second night. The beds were not made, the sink was not wiped down.. the only thing they did was empty the trash. This is a great hotel to stay in while visiting Longaberger. Even though it is approx. 20 miles away, I would recommend this hotel over the Longaberger hotel. It is nicer for the price, safer, and more convenient to everything. The rooms and service are great. Nice breakfast bar! This is our hotel when visiting the area!
