Franklin Central Apartments - Adelaide

A colleague and I spent two weeks at the Franklin for business and couldn't have been happier. Convenient location to tram and downtown Adelaide, and only a block or so from the Central Markets and Chinatown. I will definitely stay there again.

Apartment was fairly basic but had everything we needed. On a quiet street, only a short walk to the centre and handy for central bus station. The location of the hotel is right at the central of all the attractions of Adelaide! Within 5 minutes walk are the famous Central Market, China Town, Coles. About 15 minutes walk to Rundle Mall...We will definately stay in this hotel again in our next trip to Adelaide.

Very pleased on arrival, Mary on reception was extremely jolly and very helpful. The location was excellent, within walking distance of all amenities and the tram to Glenelg. the beach had all the facilities needed and was beautiful.

Great location, great front desk staff, room perfectly adequate but a little dark ( we knew to expect this ). Apartment had everything we required. Receptionist was very informative regards the security of the apartments (which is impressive), payment arrangements, and transfer to the airport. Also supplied was a summary information sheet of the very extensive guest compendium provided in the apartment. The apartment itself was absolutely amazing, and exactly what it says it is. Consisting of two […] separate bedrooms, a lounge, a kitchenette, and an en suite which also contained a washing machine and dryer, it contained absolutely everything a guest could possibly want, and more. Whilst we were only staying for one night on this occasion, this accommodation would very much suit anyone spending a few days in Adelaide, at a cost of no more than a hotel/motel room. The apartment building is also located in the very centre of the city, enabling all the city’s main attractions to be reached within a few minutes walking distance, or accessed by the public transport system located within one block. One bonus was that it provides car parking (on a first in first serve basis), which can otherwise be an expensive venture. On the other hand, whilst it does provide internet access, it is also very expensive compared to other options. This was our second stay in Adelaide, and whilst happy with the other accommodation we had used previously, this would probably now become our first choice were we to return again. Read more

Good location close to the CBD (10 minute walk to the Convention Centre). Everything about it is 'average'- the decor is pretty drab. Our 2 bed apartment was very long and narrow. The double bedroom had a window which looked out into the corridor in the middle of the building, the single room had no window at all. The lounge area is very plain with […] a 2 seat sofa and single chair. Bathroom (shower only, no bath) is nondescript but OK. We barely used the kitchen- only for a cuppa now and then but it looked to be well-equipped. Nice to see the coffees/teas well-stocked. Reception was very friendly, polite and helpful. I was disappointed to get home and find an invoice emailed to me for $3 for a Mars bar. In check-out we told them we had taken nothing from the mini bar which we hadn't. They quickly credited the amount when I had got back to them. Not much to complain about but then not much to rave about either! Read more

To be fair, there's nothing much I can complain about the room cleanliness and comfort, apart from the fact that there only one air-conditioning unit in the living room and I feel that it's not very effective in maintaining the temperature throughout the entire apartment especially the bedroom. Service staffs are not exactly very friendly, but they […] are there when you need any help. Location wise, they are very close by to Chinatown and Gouger Street, where you can find food all day long. A walk to Rundle Mall Street will take you around 10 - 15mins, where you can satisfy all you shopping needs. While you are at Rundle Mall Street, do venture out to North Terrace and parks surrounding the city. Overall, pretty value for money, would recommend to those travelling on a budget. Read more

We were given a free upgrade to a 2 Bed Apt.which made our 4 night stay very comfortable as suitcases do take up alot of room..... thankyou. Front desk staff very good, happy & helpful.. Could walk to Central Markets [ a must do] Coles supermarket, Rundle Mall, Tram to Glenelg,Gourgers Street where all the restaraunts are & also went on Taste of Barossa […] day trip. Close to the Gouger St. dining strip, the Central Markets, and an easy walk to Rundle Mall shopping. Pretty quiet, friendly, helpful staff. Possibly could be more child friendly - no bath, high chairs available for hire but quite expensive, bedroom a bit small for a portacot. Overall happy stay.

Very good sizedone bed ground floor apartment, well positon for Adelaide CBD - market, chinatown etc etc wonderfully friendly staff, only concern is that the apartment's front door literally opens on to the street and one feels a little exposed. however no issues with noise etc - I would definitely go back.

Stayed 3 nights and were given free upgrade to 2 Bed apartment as we arrived before check in time and our designated apartment wasn't ready. Then spent two nights on the Murray river and reception volunteered to look after our excess luggage and any food we had - great! We then returned for 6 further nights - this time in our booked one bed aprt . Still […] a good size though. Reception were very friendly and helpful, and booked us on a few tours. The building looks a little dated from the outside and the entrance is off a side street, but inside it is clean, modern and secure. Good location with bus station nearly opposite, free tram at end of the road and Coles and central markets only a block away. Read more

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apt (free upgrade!). Don't go there for the view as you will be facing a huge building site (new tax offices). However, it is located 5mn walk away from Central Market (and Coles). Great for local fresh and cheaper produce. Walking in the other direction, 5mn walk to Adelaide parks, and 10mn away from Rundle Mall which is bursting […] with life every day. Great service at reception and for the room service. Room was functional but that's all. Bedrooms have no sunlight and are very small. The furniture is a bit tired and a lot of dust around. But overall very good value for money and great location. We recently spent 3 nights in the Franklin Central, upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment which meant we could use the second room as a dressing room and a place to store our luggage.We were both pleasantly surprised at how well equipped the apartment was (for both kitchen and laundry). The bed was also very comfortable. Our only complaints were in regard […] to the absence of a coffee maker of some sort, the noise from the building site outside (which will end when the building does, and didn't disturb us in the morning as the bedroom was at the far end of the apartment away from the window,) and the cost of in-room internet. While there was free wifi in the cafe in the lobby, we were so busy that we didn't get to use it since the cafe was not open in the evening. However, all of these things were more than compensated for by the location, near the Central markets, and by the friendly and efficient staff. We recommend these apartments for anyone who wants to self cater in Adelaide for a few days. Do note, however, that the wonderful Central markets have only a small number of stalls open on Mondays, and half or fewer on Wednesdays, although there is quite a good Coles right next to the markets for those days, along with an excellent Vintage Cellars for wine purchases. As the name suggests, Franklin Central Apartments is a building very close to the centre of Adelaide. It's therefore close to offices, restaurants and cultural attractions. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, with a small kitchen for preparing meals. A good range of TV programs are offered, including two movie channels. Very reasonable rates.
