Travelodge Hotel Sydney

We booked at the Travelodge because they advertised all rooms had data connections for internet. When we arrived we were told that any rooms below the 13th floor were not 'hooked up'. We could upgrade from the average room for $30 AUD and then have the priviledge of paying an additional $20AUD for internet access for 24 hours. We pointed out that they […] advertised ALL room had data access and they moved us (after two days) to a small room where the ventilation system blew directly in our faces all night and the hot water did not work properly (as if there was air in the pipes and it would come and go from full force to nothing). Keep looking and you will find better located, more comfortable Sydney hotels for the same price, or less.....seriously. For the price you pay in Sydney, it was a decent place to stay. It is close to a rail station, which is great if you need to get to the airport. The room was small but decent and it included a flat screen tv and fridge/microwave. The only drawback was all the noise at nighttime. I liked this hotel overall. The location is ok and there are a number of restaurants and shops within a few blocks. We had to ask for towels a couple of times. On one day the staff did not clean the bathroom very well and left a towel on the floor. The front desk person didn't seem to care. The front desk staff was very helpful on other occasions.

This is my third time at this hotel because it fits my needs well at a reasonable price. Room was clean with a great shower, microwave and small refrigerator. My previous 2 stays at this hotel were great! This year, was awful. I specifically requested a certain room, and was told at check-in that it was unavailable- which I understand as room requests are just that, requests. HOWEVER, I was offered another room identicle to the one I requested, which I accepted gratefully before going out so they could get […] it ready. Upon my return, I found out that they had given away my identicle room! Even though I had specifically agreed to it prior to leaving, and left with the assurance that when I returned it'd be ready for me. The room they gave me instead, they kept insisting was "better" because it had a king sized bed. I didn't WANT a K sized, I was perfectly happy with a Dbl, I wanted the sofa with the Dbl which I made them aware of when I checked in. When I expressed my displeasure at not having the room I was promised only a couple hours earlier, they said there was nothing to be done. This hotel lacks customer service. I was a returning customer who spent over 4 weeks (over 3 years) at their hotel. I should have recieved a room with a sofa as promised when I left. I stayed for 11 cramped days, without the convenience of having a sofa for myself and my SO to sit on during the day. My SO had backaches from sitting on the bed all the time. Also, my SO got an itchy rash all over his legs/belly while staying in this hotel. We moved to another hotel & rash disappeared. We suspect the bedsheets needed washing. Read more

This is a much over rated hotel. The room has all of the basics, including shower no beth tub. The hotel location is kinda convenient. The hotel staff is the worst that I ever been in counter with, they did not clean my room, and provided full of excuse. I learned my lesson, and would not recommand any one to stay there.

I got a great deal from Expedia on this hotel for 3 days. Although it is not next to any of the sydney attractions, it is in the city and walking distance from the train station. The hotel was clean and well equipped for the price I paid. Definitely different from the Travelodges in the US.

Centrally located in downtown Sydney. All must see sights convenient to city bus and /or tours. City buses are free, prepaid or pay- when- using and are colored differently for identification. Had we known the bus system was so good we would not have rented a car and saved the money. Food was good and convenient especially "Harry's Singapore Chili Crab" […] restaurant which was just a short walk from the hotel. The famous Opera house, harbor tours and Darling harbor were all accessible by bus. We especially enjoyed the "Blue Mountains", about an hours ride by train or tour bus, the harbor tour, the Opera House tour and "Darling Harbor" with its restaurants and shops. We stayed five nights. The hotel is close to everything in CBD Sydney. We could walk everywhere or take transportation within a block. Our room was small, but adequate since we mostly slept there. I really liked/loved Travel Lodge Sidney on Wentworth Ave.! It was easy to find just streight up the street from the subway station. Two Coles supermarkets one near China Town and lots of nice places to eat if you want. Although our room (2 twin beds) was a bit tight, the beds were comfortable, reading lights were good, the mini refrigerator and microwave were convenient, the bathroom (shower only) was well-designed, and closet space was adequate. The reception staff was friendly and well-informed. and they provided us with good directions and a great walking map. […] I also appreciated the safety deposit box behind the reception desk. The hotel is well-located just a block away from Hyde Park and the Museum Stop metro station and very close to the main shopping areas around Pitt and George Streets. There’s also a free bus shuttle stop just a block away on Elizabeth Street that makes several stops on a loop route to the Circular Quay and runs every 10 to 15 minutes, 7 days a week. One of the best finds was a YWCA (5-11 Wentworth Ave.) just a block from the Travelodge where you can purchase a full hot breakfast with unlimited cups of coffee or tea for $10 AU, and wireless internet access ($2 AU for 1 hour connection) which is much better than the Travelodge whose similar breakfasts cost $16 AU and $2 AY for 15 minutes of connectivity). The hotel was totally fine. Good location since I could walk easily from the hotel to Circular quay or Darling harbour. I was a little bit upset I couldn't check in early after 14h flight, I was looking forward a nice hot shower... Location just on edge of Heart of City; but still very convenient. I could walk easily to all the sights. Pleasant internet area in lobby. Very helpful staff! Room was nothing fancy, but good enough. The only thing was that the shower would not keep temperature... It would go from scalding to freezing every 5 seconds. But I'm sure it's something solvable with maintenance. I'd stay there again for sure.

It was walking distance from the train station, Chinatown, and Paddington Street shopping. It was only a 5-10 mins (depending on traffic) cab ride to Kings Cross, George Street, and Darling Harbour. Travelodge met my expectations very much so. We were not looking for a hotel with opulence, just a basic, safe and clean hotel with a central location which was essential for we did not hire a car. We were able to walk to Darling Harbor, Circular Quay, the Rocks. We also got it at a great price (thanks to a strong greenback) which was sweet!! Bathroom was different from what we're used to in the States for there was no separation between the shower (no tub) and the rest of the bathroom so when you shower, the rest of the bathroom floor gets wet (though there was curtain that contained most of the water), but, this was not a big bother. I do wish there was a an internet connection in the rooms though for we used the internet to do research and make reservations at the various destinations we visited on this trip, this is my only complaint.
