When we got there they did not have our room ready. The hotel staff upgraded us to a pres suite. Very nice. They also gave us a free breakfast. I really enjoyed my stay at this Hilton. It's been a long time since I've experienced such wonderful service, and stayed in such a quiet room. I felt like I was the only one on my floor. The furnace made a little noise, but other than that, it was very quiet. My only objection is to the choice of the room's coffee maker. I liked the coffee, but didn't […] like the maker. The better choice is the standard Mr. Coffee maker (or something similar) because those have a glass pot with a heating element built in. So, if one makes coffee and then comes back to it later, the coffee is still hot. The ones in this hotel had paper cups; once the coffee was made, you had to drink it fairly quickly before it cooled. There was no way for it to stay hot. I tried making just one cup and water dripped out of the area where I hadn't put a cup. It's not a smart design or choice. The hotel was very nice and in fact I was pleased we were staying at this hotel as opposed to staying at another one where several of our friends were staying as their hotel seemed older and just not as nice. This hotel was very clean and the staff very nice. They quickly corrected a problem we had the morning we were leaving and one of the staff actually […] went out in the rain to help us so I give them kuddos for it. I do have to mention the bathtubs had an issue. I am wondering if when this hotel was built there was an issue while installing the plumbing as the bathtubs are made quite a bit higher than the floor. They have warning labels in two places on the tub saying CAUTION with a stick figure slipping in the tub. They have a bar to hold if necessary I saw this and was very careful getting out stepping out into the bath mat and still tumbled out. Afterwards I put my glasses on ( since I don't use them in the shower but may have to rethink it now) to read the smaller print below the stick figure about the tub and floor height being so different. Guess the stickers didn't count on me being half blind to read the details on the caution sticker. So please be VERY careful in these tubs. Otherwise it was a very good experience. We've stayed at this property previously and they always fail to satisfy. The room type we reserved wasn't honored and they abhor the fact that a 3rd party reservation system was utilized. "Hotel close to the start of Monumental Marathon"
We chose this hotel because it was close to the start and finish of the Monumental Marathon. It was easy to find and to get to from Chicago. Location is very close to the Capitol building and Monument Circle so great views in both directions. The room was large, well appointed and clean. Getting from the car park to our room on the 11th floor was a […] bit of a hassle. We had to take one elevator from the car park to the hotel lobby level. Get out and walk up some ramps and into the hotel lobby and into another elevator to get to the rooms. Ok if you're doing it once on arrival and departure but a tad annoying when doing it several times. When checking in we asked if there was any possibility of late checkout because we were running the marathon and would love to be able to shower before driving back to Chicago. Checkout was extended from 12:00 to 1:00 but this didn't help us because with an 08:00 race start we weren't able to get back to our rooms before 1:00. (side note, we recently stayed at the Hyatt in Milwaukee and they were very good about giving us late checkout to 02:00 for the same reason). The bed was comfortable but unfortunately I didn't get much sleep because there was a large group of children - seemed to be over 100 of them aged around 15 - staying in the hotel. They returned to the hotel at around 10:30 pm and there was constant noise from then until around 3am. We had a suite, 3 adults and 2 children. The bathroom was only stocked for 2 people. There was no refrigerator and 2 bottles of water for $3 each! We arrived at the hotel around noon and since check-in time wasn't until later in the afternoon, I was certain they would not be able to give us a room yet.
