This hotel is not what it was advertised to be. We booked a deluxe suite room but what we got is not only a basic room but worse. Toilets did not flushed properly and when we send for help, we waited for more than 2 hours. The maintenance techs were talking to each other in Malay and had mentioned that the rubber hose for the toilets were corroded and […] had not been replaced for 15 years ! They did not know that I understood what they said. Later on they gave us 2 towels sets for 3 of us staying there. When we asked for more towels, they said they will have to charged us for that. I asked to speak to the manager and was promptly given 5 sets of towels. Shower curtains covers only part of the shower so water is everywhere after showers ! Our son has food allergies and we asked the restaurant if there is anything that he could eat there. The manager promptly said that all their food are cooked with peanut oils. So there is really nothing he could eat there ! On talking to him later, I found out that he did that so that he will avoid any law suite. We enjoyed our stay greatly. The hotel is best classified as having its best days behind it, but overall the rooms were clean. The beds were excellent, TV good. And except for a minor stuff up at check-in the service was excellent. The room was let down by the bathroom which whilst clean looked tired with excessive use of silicone sealant masking mould […] I suspect. Rooms had good aircon but not the lift lobby. The hotel is on the main road with very regular bus lines into town (101, 102 for airport, 103 and 104) and to Batu Ferringhi for the markets. The beach was small but handy and the pool was huge and very clean. The main restaurant (Asian Heritage) had reasonable food and good service. Directly across the road from hotel is a very good Indian restaurant and a minimarket, other restaurants and food stall plaza a short walk away across highway. The room is normal clean but the the air is fresh which blow from the sea. in deed, the natural ventilation. It depend on your orientation of your room, not all the room can have a good view. The higher floor is the better. The service is nice and breakfast is OK. The most valuable thing is the beach, have a sun bath and very relax.

This hotel is best suited to families and has very little for professional couples. We did not have an enjoyable experience... There were exceptionally long queues at breakfast, made worse by more people being let in to the seating area, even once it was full. People had to share tables (often non-smokers with smokers) and stand with hot food between […] tables until one became available. The hotel WiFi only worked in the bar area. The beach was covered with jelly fish and there was a fair bit of glass. Not exactly a relaxing walk. Sitting on our room balcony wasn't too relaxing either - the noise seemed to travel a long way! The hotel itself is about 60 minutes from Georgetown (BAD traffic) and about 20 minutes from Batu Ferringi (very little to do during the day). There is a free shuttle bus that runs, but you must book. Even then, there's no guarantee they won't change the times, or go without you. The concierge were helpful, but most of the reception staff were difficult to communicate with. The duty manager was the best person to talk to and generally quite helpful. I do not recommend this hotel at all, but if you do stay, be sure to get a massage. The pillows / bed are so hard - you'll be sure to need it. We left the hotel after only four days (we planned to stay 14) and went elsewhere. As we had already paid for the hotel, this proved a very costly lesson. Don't make the same mistake!!!! Read more

I paid the third person supplement but was constantly chasing someone for extra mug ,glass, water allowance and shampoo was never received, additionally reception staff attempted to charge […] me a second time for the third person when the supplement charge was clearly printed on the Expedia receipt. Checking in and out was a challenging experience and unacceptable.The furniture in the rooms was chipped, shabby and the internet access broken, WIFI only available in the hotel lobby. No free access iether to a computer, that was chargeable but I was allowed free access for i hour in 5 days! It took three hours to establish we had no Wifi access in our room and the duty manager was contacted because our enquiry was rejected by reception staff. My daughter was informed that to book a taxi involved an enormous booking fee. A local taxi rank charged a fifth of the amount and only for the journey. I also booked a similar star rating hotel in KL which was a totally different expèrience. We stayed at this hotel after researching on the internet, our choice ended up perfect. Our stay was exceptional, with all the staff we had contact with very friendly, courteous and helpful - a real plus when on holidays. The hotel is well located in Tanjong Bungah with a bus stop outside, excellent restaurants very close by and within easy reach of […] George Town and Batu Feringgi. We used the seven day bus pass, as recommended by the hotel Concierge, to get around and found it great, no need to try and work out bus fares just jump off and on buses any time and to any destination. A buffet breakfast was included with our accommodation, which was excellent - a good variety of European and Asian food. I read reviews that complained that the hotel charged for waste food at the buffet, well I applaud the hotel for this initiative as it cuts down on waste, in other words don't take more than you want - you can go back as many times as you want. All in all my wife and I were very pleased with this hotel, keep up the good work 'Rainbow Paradise Beach Resort. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will definitely be back. Read more

Fantastic - we stayed at this hotel in 2009 and returned this year - Roger, who greeted us on arrival, floored us with "Welcome back" - he remembered us from 2009! The building maintenance on the outside is deceptive to the internal maintenance. Imm ediately upon entering the lobby it is evident that the internal structure has not seen any improvements since most probably the late seventies. It was immediately evident that the experience rapidly deteriorating due to the offensive smell from individual cooking […] taking place in the rooms. The room itself was dirty, smelly and had no obvious improvements made in a very long time. The other two guests in our party had what looked to be blood on their shower screen. We toughed it out thinking it couldnt get much worse... The next day the experience continued to get worse. At breakfast we were informed that there was a 10MR (3 CAD) fine for not eating what you take from the buffet breaky. Not the worst idea ive ever heard of but not something I want to promote. The food was horrible and my concern was that the food was left over from the previous day. Sandwiches floating in the pool. A child witnessed peeing in the pool from the edge with hotel staff not doing anything to stop the behaviour. Electrical conduits broken run ning across foot paths with exposed wiring. You would be ill advised to stay at this hotel. We ended up going down the road and stayed at the Golden sands resort which is operated by Shangri la. It was 3X more expensive per night but really worth the extra cost especially considering you are on holidays and want to enjoy your experience. Read more

We had sooooo many issues. This is more like 2* hotel. Here are some issues: * Checked in at 5pm, room not ready, so instead of the 18th floor, we got a room on floor 12. * Took 15mins to check in. *yawn*. * Toilet in room on floor 12 was malfunctioning. I don't mean didn't flush - the join to the wall was broken so think sewerage leaking & use your […] imagination....ew. *This room was dirty. * Moved to room on 9th floor. Slightly cleaner. * BUT very noisy as you can hear footsteps etc. from floor above. There were children in the room above us running around all night, bouncing balls etc. So we didn't sleep for 2 nights. * At 10.30pm on the 2nd night, we rang reception to ask them to contact the room above. It took 3 calls over a 1hr period before there was any action. So had to move again. * This 3rd room - the internet socket was broken, so couldn't use the broadband internet we'd paid for. Called reception in the morning. Said they'd send maintenance up. 1hr later, no maintenance. We were going out, but I rang again and was told they'd send someone up whilst we're out. Returned 9pm that night, and still not fixed. * They then fixed the socket, but then the whole hotel's internet service wasn't working -for the whole day (and still wasn't working by the time we checked out) * They have a couple of free shuttle services to Georgetown a day which you need to book - BUT when we turned up, they said that the shuttle was fully booked and that we hadn't booked. When we asked them to check, they then said we'd cancelled our booking, which we hadn't. 5 nights, 3 rooms, and 3 very disatisfied adults. Also note: * they advertise 'kitchenette' - no cooking facilities. Just a sink, mini fridge & benchtop! * No wireless - broadband only. * Bottled water is ONLY provided at check in, not each day, unlike most hotels.
