Nice hotel with kind staff in a great location. Had an uncomfortable sleep because it was too noisy. The fire alarm went off at 1am in the morning and it sounded like people were playing billiards at 2am.

A beautifully maintained historic location/hotel. The rooms were clean and neat, even a little bigger than most rooms in Europe, with each one having a balcony and a view. It's located in the middle of everything--easy walking distance up the Rue de Bac to the Seine, the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde, shopping, etc., metro, bus route, yet the […] hotel is tucked away off the busy streets. You could even walk to the Eiffel Tower if you wanted but I recommend the short bus ride instead. There's even a lot of shopping nearby for the tourist, just on the other side of the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde are a bunch of little independent stores with everything you could want in the way of souvenirs. You can also go downstairs on either side of the Arch de Triomphe des Carousel and do the underground shopping mall beneath the Louvre (this is a good entrance to the Louvre also since it doesn't have the long lines of the topside entraces). Found a couple of little places to eat nearby that were great. The hotel staff was fantastic, helpful and excellent English--especially the concierge, Christophe. I stay at a lot of 4-star American hotels for my work and, aside from its historic significance, ranks up there with the best in terms of cleanliness, internet access, updated rooms, bathrooms et al. My wife and I loved it and will certainly stay here again whenever we come to Paris. Read more

This was by far the best Hotel I have ever stayed at! Service, location, upkeep, and friendliness of the staff certainly exceeded all expectations! A five star hotel that will be my base for all future trips to the City of Light! The location was great, as it was a short walk to the nearest Metro and only a couple of hundred meters from the Musee D'Orsay […] and Louvre. We really enjoyed our stay at the Pont Royal. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The hotel itself is located very close to the metro and next to a Monoprix, where you can get your wine, food and necessities. My stay in Paris was very memorable and I hardly spend time at the hotel. When I did, I felt very comfortable and at ease.

We booked a classic room (the basic) for 5 nights over the holidays. While the room was small as expected, it was comfortable, clean and modern. The staff are amazing. Friendly, outgoing and willing to drop everything to help you. The fact we did not speak French was no issue as the entire staff spoke fluently. The hotel is also centrally located. In house is the amazing restaurant of the "Chef of the Century" Joel Robuchon. Very pricy but worth every penny. Breakfast is pricy if you dont get it included, but right on the corner is a great bakery where breakfast for 2 is only 15 euros. (OJ, Coffee and bread or pastry for each). The location was perfect, blocks from the Louvre and fantastic antiques and boutiques...and a supermarket in front for a quick bottle of champagne or the makings of a picnic lunch (or a bottle of conditioner which the hotel did not have.) Although Hotel Pont Royal was a very convenient location for us and is quite a lovely hotel, we repeatedly had to ask for enough towels and soap for the two us (even though our reservation was for 2 people). Additionally, every other hotel we stayed in throughout our 12-day trip through France allowed us to borrow an adapter whereas the Hotel Pont Royal […] insisted on charging us $10Euro for an adapter the front desk rep seemed to have pulled from the lost and found drawer. When we questioned this, the desk manager became quite defensive and petulant. The "business center" is far from what one envisions a business center to be: it is one computer just outside of the breakfast room with seats that look like a wire frame covered in bright fabric. Upon arrival, we were told we could buy internet usage cards for either $5Euro or $10Euro and that the concierge would assist us with whatever we needed. That was NOT the case: we were only able to buy the most expensive internet cards and the concierge was not helpful at all when were were looking for information about dinner and tour cruises on the Seine. I could not recommend this hotel highly enough. We arrived to a warm, professional welcome. Our superior room was beautiful, and everything seemed very new. The whole place is thoroughly clean. The king size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for Paris and featured a large soaking bathtub/shower combo with very nice tile […] work. Rare features in Paris: it had a full shower curtain, and wash cloths were provided. Our room had a great view on the front of the hotel. The location could not have been more perfect. Pleanty of cafes in walking distance for coffee and coissant in the morning and drinks in the afternoon. It is a short walk to the eiffel tour and a two minute walk across the river to the louvre. Walking east down st germain, there is a huge selection of cafes and restaurants. We went 4 days in Paris without having to use public transportation or take a taxi to get around. The staff and service were truly top notch. They could not have been more helpful or friendly. Pont Royal deserves 5 stars! Read more

My only criticism would be that it relies on it's name and history rather than looking at travellers needs. There were no tea coffee making facilitates and the mini bar/ bar/ restaurant prices are excessive. Thank goodness for the Monoprix across the road for snacks and a superb patisserie along the road which has lovely continental breakfast.
