"Decent place...disappointed that pool was closed"
The Indian Head was as expected, on the older side, but we knew that when we booked it. What we did not know was that the indoor pool was closed for service from 11/3 to 11/15 and our stay was right in the middle of that. the outdoor pool and jacuzzi are open year round, but an indoor pool was truly the one amenity my family was looking for during our […] stay. The manager was very sympathetic, and gave us a gift certificate for use in the dining room, along with acknowledging that the information regarding the pool closure should have been on the website. In addition, I would have expected Expedia to include that information on its page. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice staff; liked the lounge and dining area. Good view. Pleasant experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Tired but adequate"
The resort is dated and could use some serious upgrading. Pools are crumbling and the indoor pool was in need of a good cleaning. The electric heaters were on, as was the air conditioning unit, in our room when we checked in. We could not figure out how to turn the floorboards elec. heat units off. Food was disappointing and one of our entrees had a […] bread wrapper twist embedded in it. Our server was poorly trained. The buffet food was cold and not to our liking. The desk staff was very pleasant. The staff for the Kid Club activities acted bored and totally disengaged with the children they were supposed to be entertaining. "good location....that's it"
Expensive, poorly maintained. small beds, torn carpet, furniture upholstery was worn down to the wood, noisy, bad and expensive food. I booked a room for 2 adults and 3 kids, even prepaid it. Then upon arrival they tried to charge me for a roll away bed from the 1950's. The only redeeming part of the hotel is the location. There are many things to do […] nearby. I wouldn't stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to stay in the White Mountains"
Indian Head was perfect for our needs we enjoyed the pool, pedalos and ate dinner and breakfast for $30.00. Its not fining dining but it was perfectly adequate. The room was clean and we all had a great nights sleep. To make our stay more comfortable we paid $10.00 for an additional bed for our 7 year old son - now that was a bargain. Would stay there […] again Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We stayed across the street from the actual hotel, which means we didn't have easy access to the pool and it was putting so we didn't get to check out too much. The area was beautiful and we definitely want to come back when the weather is nicer!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The fact we have to go outside to reach the Main hotel facilities (restaurant, pool, bar....) is a major drarback espacilly in winter and bad cold weather.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Average resort, your kids will probably love it"
Good childrens activities, room was average and dated, electrical outlet did not work, sliding mirrored door came off. If you can afford it, stay at the omni Mt. Washington resort in Breton woods. We drove there and had the breakfast buffet but the hotel and grounds are beautiful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to everything"
Overall, we had a nice stay. The food in the dining room wasn't so great. Maybe because we went to dinner late. The rice was crunchy. Kids got a dinner buffet, but 20 minutes before the restaurant closed, they took away the kids buffet - so no dessert for the kids.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Decent resort, but ....."
Resort was good. Wireless never worked, had to use lobby computer. Power was out for a few hrs. Rooms were hot. Only thing on the breakfast menu was a buffet because of power outage. Was charged full price for buffet and room no discount for power loss. I understand it's not their fault but will not stay againGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice view, hotel needs some work."
We stayed 2 nights here. Our room was on the ground floor of the Notchview building are across the street from the main building. Nice view of the mountains. The room was clean except for some stains on the carpet and a musty smell in the bathroom. The lock on the siding glass door was broken, there was a security bar on the door however it really wasn't […] secure. The bathroom door did not close properly and took force to shut. The ceiling tiles in the bathroom looked like they could fall down. The 50" TV was great and the free Wifi worked very well. The beds were very comfortable although the linens had a strong smell of bleach, a least we knew they were well cleaned. After our first night, housekeeping had not cleaned the bathroom, emptied the ice bucket or cleaned the coffee maker. It's not a quiet room as we could hear the guests beside and above us. The ice machine was dirty and leaked water. Trash had been left on top of it and remained there for the length of our stay. The restaurant is terrible, service is unbelievably poor and food not great. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The 'resort' consists of a complex on one side of the old highway and an old rundown motel that they have presumably purchased on the other side of the highway. Poor condition, poor decor and if you want the bar, restaurant or entertainment its on the other side of the highway!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"MAKE SURE YOU STAY IN THE MAIN BUILDING"
We recently stayed at the Indian Head Resort. There are 2 buildings on opposite sides of the main road. We were checked into the far side & made it to the room only to pick up the phone & get transferred. The hotel was pretty much full of school kids on skiing vacation. I didn't particularly fancy them running up and down outside my room - which was […] the case straight away. All credit to the front desk - they moved us immediately & we were given a beautiful view of the lake in a peaceful room (once the rest of the kids ran out of energy). The location isn't as close to the town as I figured it would be - if you are going anywhere from here - you're driving. That said, the grounds are stunning & as long as you are aware of the style of hotel you are checking into - then it's ideal.

"Great Place For a Wedding"

My Wife and I got married here in May 2014 (I'm just getting around to writing the review now.) We had absolutely no problem with this little resort. Every employee we came across was very nice and our rooms were always clean. I see alot of people complaining about other guests ruining their experience, but that's no fault of the resorts, as long as they handle the situation. Big bonus... The views are spectacular! My wife and I liked it so much we're going here again for our anniversary.

I took the hotwire gamble and ended up here... I've always shyed away from motels (maybe due to their depliction in scary movies), so I was nervous staying here. It really was fine though. Everything was clean and the beds were comfortable (top 2 requirements for a hotel). I loved that one wall was a sliding glass door with windows overlooking the mountains and water, and at night one curtain could be closed to totally black out your room. There was also a fridge, microwave and table in the room, so we just heated up some food we had. While there, we enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pools (kids thought it was so neat to swim outside in winter). The staff were also very nice. If the price was right I would stay here again. BTW the tower is closed in winter, would love to go up there though.

Won't go there again. I would of preferred to drive elsewhere for a better place to sleep. Very disappointed. Only positive was the hostess at the front desk. She was very very nice and accommodating. She is too good to work here. Got very little sleep with an added option of someone vomiting on my truck. Wonderful!

Other then the Sid, the manager on the desk for check in, I wouldn't go back. Not worth 150.00 Then to have to pay additional for breakfast. Crazy. Not only that not, warm water for a shower. For my husband who showered an hour before me. Both times was only warm. Also at midnight people were careless about other people sleeping. Had to call the front desk at 12:15, because of all the noise from above. Just not worth the money. Sid really tried to make things right. The bottom line its not worth the money.
"Landmark place to stay"
03/09/15 Jabby B Concord, New Hampshire
Facility is well equipped, room was large, very clean and maintained, no signs of wear, kudos to maintenance staff! Dining was different, meal plan a little confusing, but not part of stay unless you want it. Food and service above average, pools and spa excellent, direct trail access for snowmobile, overall pricey.....but its not a run of mill place to stay! Will be going back!
"Excellent Stay, As Always...."

I've been coming to the Indian Head Resort (IHR) in Lincoln, NH for about 20 years now, usually just once a year at this point to go skiing. I stayed during the week of March 2nd, 20015. My stay at IHR was outstanding, as usual. The service by the staff there--particularly the front desk folks and restaurant staff--was particularly good this time, although they have always been great to deal with on every trip that I've had there. They always go out of their way to make sure that every need of the guests is addressed. I asked upon check-in for a quiet room, away from any groups, etc. and the front desk guest services rep changed the room I was originally going to get, and made sure I had something on the 3rd floor that was on the quieter side. Restaurant staff were so nice and friendly; almost made you feel like "family". I've been so impressed with how great the food is there, after the years that I've been going to IHR, the quality of the food has always been 5-star in my book. Very good quality for the price, and their meal plan is a great money-saver. At a minimum, if you haven't been there for breakfast, make sure to go one day...the omelletes are fab and the pancakes to die for....Rooms are clean and updated; love the large-screen TV addition. And if you ever need to bring something back from your visit to the White Mountains for a relative or friend, their gift shop is the best one I've ever seen...TONS of cool stuff all related to the White Mountains area and Native American culture. This particular trip I had to recognize one server that I had for breakfast my last morning. Mariah was the best that I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She was so sweet and considerate...just a joy to meet. My order was missing something when it came out, and she made sure to make it right and in just a couple of minutes, she brought me the dish, and more than I could have imagined. I wish every wait staff/server at every restaurant could be as wonderful as Mariah was! She truly made my day :-)
"Yia yias house is great escape!"
03/01/15 Maryann B Plymouth, Massachusetts
Yia yias house is a great cabin to escape to! It is rustic, spacious yet cozy.two bathrooms, four bedrooms, dining area that seats six easily, living room with a great tv, sofa that opens as another bed, fireplace, full kitchen....with working stove, oven, toaster, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, tea kettle, plates, coffee mugs, glasses and cooking/eating utensils! (I do recommend bringing some paper towels and napkins) Two bedrooms have a king size bed, another bedroom has a full bed and twin bunk beds, and the last bedroom has a full bed and has its own bathroom. We went tere with our grown children and ad. Great time! Having a "house" for the weekend was great...we brought some of our own prepared meals and just heated them up....which saved a lot of money going out for every meal. We were pleasantly surprised by the yia yias house and will return in the future...with a lot more people....I think you could be very comfortable housing 8 adults in this house! For a family with young children you could easily have 12 people in this house.
"Ok stay. Family friendly"

We spent three nights at the Indian head resort in a deluxe Lakeview room. The room was clean and large enough for a family of four. The beds were reasonably comfortable and although there were many pillows they were not of good quality. The outdoor pool and Jacuzzi were fun for the kids and they were able to swim outside despite the cold temperatures and snow flurries. It is very convenient to several ski areas and transportation is provided if you make advance arrangements. We extended our stay by one night at check-in and unfortunately it was not reflected in the system so after our second night our keys were deactivated and we had to go to the office to reactivate them prior to being able to access our room. This was unfortunate because the temperatures were below zero and we had to wait several minutes in a long line at the front desk. Request a top floor room as far from the office as possible as the ceilings are very thin and you can hear people walking above you and people running along the walkways outside the your door. The exterior and public resort areas are very out dated and could use some updating however it would appear the rooms have been updated more recently. This is a nice resort for A ski weekend getaway or if you enjoy snowmobiling. We will likely visit again but I would not recommend it for more than three nights.
"Everything was great - will definitely return/recommend"

We happened across this resort after a terrible check-in experience at Econolodge right down the road where we initially had reservations. I am so glad Econolodge was rude and unwilling to work with us because if they hadn't we never would have found Indian Head Resort! We stayed in Bungalow #21 across the road. It was definitely rustic but it worked wonderfully for our needs, we don't mind a few less "luxuries", although the 50" flat screen and propane fireplace exceeded our expectations of rustic! The double bed in each room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was large and functional. Our toilet did not flush upon check-in but it was promptly repaired without question while we went across the road to swim. My only complaint about the room was that it was COLD. Maybe I was doing it wrong, but the monitor heater in the living room only stayed on for maybe 5 minutes, then turned off even though we set the temp to 78 thinking it would either run continuously, or turn off then back on until the room was at temperature. We went to bed and woke up in the middle of the night shivering and the thermostat read 52 degrees. I turned the heater back on, knowing it would turn off in 5 mins, and cranked the fireplace on for the remainder of the night and woke up to a warmer, but not toasty like I was hoping for, 70 degrees. Next time we'll bring our electric blankets and just leave the fireplace on overnight I guess. That is really my only complaint for our whole stay. The kids activities were great, the pools and hot tubs were awesome (the outdoor hot tubs button must have been frozen, it didn't work all the time), the restaurant was prompt, reasonably priced, and the food was great. Kristy was our waitress for dinner and breakfast and she was so friendly and helpful. Check out was at noon which was great. We will definitely return in any season and have already told friends and family to check this place out.
