Nice empty nest retreat for my wife and I. Beautiful location - helpful staff. Near lots of sites to visit and enjoy. The pools were great and the lounge was fun. Not impressed with the dinner menu but overall a great hotel.

"Don't forget to look a'head"
Beautiful spot by a river. outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi that stays open 'til 11pm. this is the major plus! rooms are a little worn and faded, but hotel staff is very friendly and they made it very easy to have a late checkout.

"too many kids"
We were hoping for a quiet night away, I guess I didn't realize this was more geared toward young families. There were young children everywhere. The hotel itself was kind of old and the wall paper in the shower was peeling off. The restaurant was okay, just an average family restaurant. The staff was pretty nice and the breakfast was good. I'm glad we didn't pay full price for our room. The bed was really small and uncomfortable.

"Hair in the shower...enough said."
We often visit the area and after seeing this resort many times in the past we decided to stay at Indian Head. We thought a resort that had been here this long must be good. We were wrong. The pools were lovely but the women's locker room was an atrocity. Our room had carpet stains and stains on the ceiling, items we could overlook until we found hair in the shower. Unacceptable. Very disappointed.

An absolutely great stay for anyone with kids. There are 2 pools and 2 hot tubs (an indoor and outdoor of each), a lounge for music and dancing and a restaurant with a fantastic breakfast buffet. The rooms are huge and clean, the bed is comfy. Great location.

"Kids night away"
One thing that I wish I would have known when I booked this hotel from Expedia was that we would be staying at the hotels over flow hotel across the street. Having two kids that wanted to swim and play in the arcade in a snow storm made it undesirable to have to get in the car and drive. I booked the hotel to be able to just park and enjoy. Kids did have a great time and stay was overall a good experience.

"Just ok"
It was disappointing to be across the road from the main building. The room was ok in size and certainly clean. It was in good condition but lack total character and was a bit sad looking. the restaurant experience was very disappointing. No one greeted us at the door and we stood there for what seemed forever. It was a Friday night. After a while we finally told a waiter that we were going to sit ourselves and he was ok and helped a bit then. He told us that our server Kevin would be right with us. It took about 15 more minutes for Kevin to come. A nice lady came twice to our table to assure he would come. We were not in a hurry but tired and hungry. We were told that they had left staff go early and were surprised by a late rush. It was 8:30. We were told that there would an ice cream social the next night at 6:30 pm and a little for kids. We showed up on Saturday with a very excited 5 year old. Since nothing was happening and nothing was posted on the door. We asked the front desk. A quite disinterested gentleman told us that it was canceled replaced by a clown at 7:45 pm. There was a flyer announcing it on the counter. Overall a good stay but I would try a different place next time, it was far from memorable. On the multiple times we entered and left the hotel we never heard a greeting from the Front Desk. We wandered in the gift shop on Saturday morning without so much as a nod from the lady who was doing what look like an inventory. great pool area

"Clean place but I wouldn't go back"
There were several drunk people in the room next door arguing and screaming for most of the night. Nobody was at the front desk when I called to complain. Since I booked on Expedia, the only thing they could do was to offer a discount coupon for a future stay. I doubt I will be using it.

"Decent place...disappointed that pool was closed"
The Indian Head was as expected, on the older side, but we knew that when we booked it. What we did not know was that the indoor pool was closed for service from 11/3 to 11/15 and our stay was right in the middle of that. the outdoor pool and jacuzzi are open year round, but an indoor pool was truly the one amenity my family was looking for during our stay. The manager was very sympathetic, and gave us a gift certificate for use in the dining room, along with acknowledging that the information regarding the pool closure should have been on the website. In addition, I would have expected Expedia to include that information on its page.

"Tired but adequate"
The resort is dated and could use some serious upgrading. Pools are crumbling and the indoor pool was in need of a good cleaning. The electric heaters were on, as was the air conditioning unit, in our room when we checked in. We could not figure out how to turn the floorboards elec. heat units off. Food was disappointing and one of our entrees had a bread wrapper twist embedded in it. Our server was poorly trained. The buffet food was cold and not to our liking. The desk staff was very pleasant. The staff for the Kid Club activities acted bored and totally disengaged with the children they were supposed to be entertaining.

"good location....that's it"
Expensive, poorly maintained. small beds, torn carpet, furniture upholstery was worn down to the wood, noisy, bad and expensive food. I booked a room for 2 adults and 3 kids, even prepaid it. Then upon arrival they tried to charge me for a roll away bed from the 1950's. The only redeeming part of the hotel is the location. There are many things to do nearby. I wouldn't stay there again.

"Great place to stay in the White Mountains"
Indian Head was perfect for our needs we enjoyed the pool, pedalos and ate dinner and breakfast for $30.00. Its not fining dining but it was perfectly adequate. The room was clean and we all had a great nights sleep. To make our stay more comfortable we paid $10.00 for an additional bed for our 7 year old son - now that was a bargain. Would stay there again

Overall, we had a nice stay. The food in the dining room wasn't so great. Maybe because we went to dinner late. The rice was crunchy. Kids got a dinner buffet, but 20 minutes before the restaurant closed, they took away the kids buffet - so no dessert for the kids.

Resort was good. Wireless never worked, had to use lobby computer. Power was out for a few hrs. Rooms were hot. Only thing on the breakfast menu was a buffet because of power outage. "Beautiful surroundings, lacklustre "resort""
My fiancé and I spend the night at the Indian Head Resort, thinking it would be a great spot for a quiet get-away... which it is. However, it's also a tired and bizarre old hotel/motel with illusions of grandeur. We were given a "Notch View" room in a building across the other side of the secondary highway, which you can't even tell exists when you look at the site. Not very convenient if you want to do a quick dash from the pools / hot tubs to your room. As for those water features, they're great to have but the experience of going through the cramped, sweaty changing rooms in order to get there made them a not-so-pleasurable experience. We tried to eat at the nearly empty Indian Head restaurant but were told that it would be at least a 15-minute wait — despite the fact that there were about 20 empty tables, already set. We waited for half an hour at the bar. Our buzzer never buzzed. No one bothered coming to find us. We went and drove to Lincoln in search of food instead. The room itself was fine — clean and comfortable. But the décor was tired and there was some questionable art above the beds.

"Nice view, hotel needs some work."
We stayed 2 nights here. Our room was on the ground floor of the Notchview building are across the street from the main building. Nice view of the mountains. The room was clean except for some stains on the carpet and a musty smell in the bathroom. The lock on the siding glass door was broken, there was a security bar on the door however it really wasn't secure. The bathroom door did not close properly and took force to shut. The ceiling tiles in the bathroom looked like they could fall down. The 50" TV was great and the free Wifi worked very well. The beds were very comfortable although the linens had a strong smell of bleach, a least we knew they were well cleaned. After our first night, housekeeping had not cleaned the bathroom, emptied the ice bucket or cleaned the coffee maker. It's not a quiet room as we could hear the guests beside and above us. The ice machine was dirty and leaked water. Trash had been left on top of it and remained there for the length of our stay. The restaurant is terrible, service is unbelievably poor and food not great.

The 'resort' consists of a complex on one side of the old highway and an old rundown motel that they have presumably purchased on the other side of the highway. Poor condition, poor decor and if you want the bar, restaurant or entertainment its on the other side of the highway!

We stayed at Indian head for a wedding and my husband I really enjoyed our stay! The views were amazing! Super convenient location. Staff was so friendly and helpful. The decor is dated but still pretty good quality. We got the room for a great price and the pictures online are accurate so no surprises. I would definitely recommend the resort to families too!

Right off Route 3 off of interstate 93, this resort is wonderful! Got a balcony view facing the mountains/lake view. I went in the Fall time and love the colors of the trees! The outdoor pool is open all 4 seasons! The resort also has its own restaurant (The Profile dining room) which you can get the MAP plan (Modified American Plan) which is a meal plan which includes breakfast & dinner at an awesome deal! Each Adult is only $30 p.p/day! They give you huge portions too! The reception desk is extremely friendly & helpful. Don't hesitate to ask for anything! The resort also has a game room, indoor pool and a bar ( Thunderbird lounge) serves up fabulous cocktails! If your searching for a great resort in Lincoln NH, this is where you want to stay!

"Pros and Cons"
07/26/15 sharkbait10 Pembroke, Massachusetts
My husband, 2 children (15 and 14), and I stayed at Indian Head from 7/19-7/24. I called on 7/23 to make the reservation and we were told that check-in was at 4pm, but we could use the pool if we arrived early. When we made our reservation we were told that our room had an obstructed view of the pond because it was located on the end of the third floor (room 319). We appreciated being told this upfront. We got to the hotel around 3pm and our room was not ready, so we sat by the pool and we were told to come back at 4pm. When I returned to the desk at 4pm, our room still was not ready. When I asked the desk staff when it would be ready, they said they really didn't have any control over it, but to come back around 430. I explained that check-in was guaranteed for 4pm and that I was disappointed by this. We were given coupons for 4 free drinks in the lounge (2 adult, 2 children). The pros of this hotel are the amazing view from the pool, hot tub, and rooms that face the rear of the building. The pond and paddleboats (free) were lots of fun, and the resort welcomes fishing in the pond. There are fireworks on certain nights, and the buffet offers a lot of choices for young kids. The game room is fun and there is a very small exercise room that is free to guests. The cons of this resort are that the walls and ceiling are very thin. We could hear the people walking above us both in the evening and in the morning. The room was clean enough, but in great need of updating (as is most of the resort). One of the drawers in our bureau was broken (if you pulled it out too far it would come out and fall), and there were only three large drawers to store clothing (there was a large shelf in the bathroom). The bathroom was difficult to maneuver around in. The toilet and tub are separate from the sink (which is great), but the door to the sink area in this room was awkward to open and close because no one could be anywhere near it or you couldn't move. The tub took a very long time to drain when we took showers (during shower and after). There was also a drip from under our sink that had a towel placed under it each day when the cleaning service came in. The pool area is nice, but one part of it has a green material on it and when you walk on certain parts of it, the decking underneath feels unsafe. You almost sink down like you might go through it. I am sure that if it was unsafe, this part of the deck would be closed. The food at breakfast was good, but the dinner was only okay. You got a lot of food for the money (we did the MAP one day), but after one breakfast and dinner we chose to go elsewhere. We stayed at this resort when our kids were younger and loved everything about it. This time we were not quite as impressed. Our opinion is that if you have kids 10 or younger, this resort can't be beat. Now that our kids are older, we would choose other lodging in the White Mountains when we return.

"Great Family hotel"
07/16/15 Pmundis1967 Revere, Massachusetts
We have been taking our vacation to Indian Head for the last 4 years, most recent was last week. As always, we were not disappointed. While it's an older hotel/resort, the rooms are clean, all staff is friendly and very pleasant, the pools are awesome (my son wouldn't get out of it!) and the food and beverages were great (I recommend the hamburgers and pizza). Fireworks on Thursday were great, as usual. The lounge and entertainment were first rate. See you next year!

"Breathtaking views!!"
07/11/15 MrsBelle2 Tennessee
This was a wonderful stay. Even though the room was a little dated it had everything we needed. The room was nice and large and the bathroom was also. But the one thing that topped it all was the breathtaking views all around us and especially from the patio doors in our room. We had a view of the lake and the mountains. We wish we could have sat on the deck all day. Just a beautiful view. There was even a little island in the lake with a couple of chairs on it, so cute. The restaurant had good food. There is a gift shop in the place and a lounge for entertainment. The whole place really had character. Would love to return!

"Fantastic Amenities and Beautiful grounds, Room just Ok!"
07/10/15 lisamm377 Worcester, Massachusetts
My husband and I really enjoyed our couple days at this resort because the Amenities and beautiful grounds and views were worth it! The pool area is beautiful, both indoor and outdoor pools were heated and large enough to enjoy, even with others! The outdoor hot tub was one of the best I've ever used, and I've been in a LOT of hot tubs! We didn't use the indoor hottub. My only complaint of amenity related things was that though the game room had lots to offer, it was not air conditioned, we found that odd, we started playing ping pong, which we really enjoy but had to stop because it was SO hot in the game rooms! They had the awesome activity (included) of using one of many paddle boats to enjoy riding around the "lake" in! (more like a large pond than a lake), but really pretty with spectacular Mtn. views all around! We really enjoyed this added extra bonus! We ate in their restaraunt one of our two nights, and really enjoyed the food! It was very good! Our Server was very good, very friendly, but they did not have enough help! The wait was very long for everything! We also enjoyed fireworks one night that the Hotel themselves launched right out on their own deck near the lake! It was WAY more than we expected for a hotel display! A VERY pleasant surprise! As for our room, this is where we were pretty disappointed! We paid more to get what they called a "premium lakeview" room with a balcony because my husband and I LOVE to sit on a balcony and just look at the view and talk! One of the reasons for our little "getaway" was to "re-connect"! View was very nice, BUT....the balcony was just to the left of a fairly large Staff housekeeping/maintenance area where staff comes in and out off and on all day to unload and load supplies! No privacy whatsoever! We weren't told about this ahead of time either! The balcony, though large, was low enough that all these people coming and going could see right onto it! It was VERY disappointing to say the least! We made this observation while we were there: If you enjoy SOME privacy while sitting out on your balcony and you want to enjoy the balcony YOU paid extra to get.......don't book a room there unless you get a room on the fourth floor or you request rooms 301-309! Any third floor rooms above those numbers will disappoint you! Don't take a room on the first or second floors unless you don't care about noise or privacy! This is a popular family resort, there are kids everywhere, which is not a problem if you get a room PREFERABLY on the fourth floor-or- third floor rooms 301-309! There are two buildings in the MAIN hotel (not talking about across the street, they have buildings across the street too!) If you are facing the hotel from the street, there are only third and fourth floor rooms in the building that is farthest to the left......(the staff areas take up what would be the first and second floors so to speak). Don't stay in that building at all unless you have a fourth floor room! You will see and hear all the staff coming and going from the rather busy staff area from the third floor room balconies! If you stay in the Main building to the right closest to the pools and amenities, best rooms are fourth floor, then third floor rooms! Rooms 400-409/ or 300-309! The room itself was quiet unless you were out on the balcony as I said. The room was fairly spacious, we had a King size bed in the room and a double bed! We slept in the King size, bed was fairly comfortable. Bathroom was large and the whole unit was very clean, that was a plus! Coffee maker, small fridge, microwave. Also, the A/C unit wasn't working right in room 315! These rooms are old but totally adequate and clean and except for our great disappointment at not being able to use the balcony we paid extra for, but the whole thing was WORTH it just for the beauty and amenities!

"Great Value Resort!"
07/07/15 alpinegato Hudson, NH
My husband and I stayed here for a 3 night Winter Ski vacation. This hotel is located near several of NH's best ski areas including Loon Mountain, Cannon Mountain and Bretton Woods. You can buy discounted tickets at the hotel. Our stay included the breakfast and dinner meal plan which was a super value and the food was very good. There were happy hour specials each day with live entertainment and at night a live band which provided music for the large dance floor which overlooks the lake. We used the indoor and outdoor pools and really appreciated the out door hot tub to warm up after a long day of skiing. The rooms are average, beds are comfortable and TV is modern. We will go back again!

"Facility is Fatigued"
07/07/15 Tony S Portland, Oregon
According to Webster, A resort is a place used for relaxation or recreation, attracting visitors for vacations and/or tourism. To this extent Indian Head Resort fits the bill. However, I think we in the US have grown accustom to a higher level expectation, and when we see the term "resort" in the title, look forward to a self-contained commercial establishment which attempts to provide for most of a vacationer's wants while remaining on the premises, such as food, drink, lodging, sports, entertainment, and shopping, and upscale lodging---Disney World comes to mind. Indian Head opened in the early 1900’s. Its website boasts a “MODERN” resort. It may have been modern in the 1950’s when they did a major overhaul, but the room we stayed in 505 across the street, was tired and worn. dead flies in the windows, cob webs in rear windows, bathroom light fixture was filled with dead bugs. Paint and wallpaper were long dated.. Furniture had not been replaced in a LONG time. The room was good size and the beds comfortable. The unit floors were clean, we had no crawling bugs, water pressure was good..Food in the restaurant was mediocre. The property itself is very scenic. So, I guess if you are a family who is looking for a modicum of amenities a level or two above tent camping----BINGO. If you are looking for a MODERN resort, you will be disappointed.

Took a quick two say stay here. It was the first time I'd stayed up in this area of Lincoln, NH. I must say, For the price, the place was great. Indoor/outdoor pools. Bar/lounge area, and a stocked trout pond out back to throw a hook at. Down the street about two miles is Clark's Trading Post. Wanna see Black Bears eating ice cream? Well, this is the place. All around clean, and deserving of the price. Close proximity to the popular Franconia and Crawford Notch. Nice take.

"Cottage Life!"
07/06/15 Cindy L Lebanon, New Hampshire
I've stayed at the Indian Head in the past but only in the motel portion. This time, we opted to rent a cottage for a week to have a little more privacy. We made the best decision! The cottages are old and retain the "storybook" feel to them but are modernized to keep you comfortable. They are small and cozy but are perfect for a couple alone or with a child/guest. The weather was a bit off last week so having a gas fireplace to offset the chill was fantastic. We also enjoyed the 50" TV and brought along a DVD player to hook up to watch movies. The positives are the cleanliness of the cottage, privacy and amenities. There are only a few drawbacks. The bathroom is tiny and without a fan, the mirror does fog up. The porch is very small so you won't have a lot of room to move around but it's good to have that space to sip some morning coffee. We found the housekeeping staff is very good about asking if you need towels etc. The grounds are very well kept and landscaped! We loved the pool/hot tub (outdoor...never used the inside area) and you can't beat having frozen drinks poolside with that view! If you love to hike, Mt Pemigewasset is across the street and will take you only 1 hour 15 to climb! What a beautiful vantage point from above. Do it! While in Lincoln we mini golfed, rode bikes and even took off on our own personal moose hunt on the Kanc! You will love the Indian Head Resort.....
