We stayed two nights. It was too far from the train depot to walk, so we took a ten euro cab ride to get there. Upon leaving, we had the hotel desk call for a cab, which we didn't realize adds five euro to the fare.... The service, and size of the room was exceptional for Europe. The front desk was always pleasant, helpful when needed, and easy to work with. The housekeeping did a great job with the cleanliness, while still respecting my belongings. The laundry service was affordable, quick, and done well. This was a great hotel!

A really good location, 5 minutes walk from one of the bridges connecting the old town to the 'new'. It's on a main road which gets very busy at peak times, and is a bit noisy, though not as noisy as the climate control in our in-laws' room. There's a restaurant and a tiny bar, neither of which we used. Nor did we opt for the €12 breakfast buffet which […] seemed fairly unpopular but may well have been lovely. Room was nice and spacious, as was the bathroom. However, the bed was very soft on one side, in the middle. When I sat on it in the morning a couple of the wooden slats popped onto the floor. A call was made, and a repairman came who couldn't fix it without my help. It broke again straight away. The lady on reception insisted on changing our room, despite it being just two single beds pushed together, one of which could have been replaced. Changing room was 'easier' she said. Maybe for her. The new room was hotter,with a clunky air conditioner unit which didn't go below 20 degrees, and the bathroom was a bit pokey. This was the only downer on a great stay in a lovely city. Read more

I travel to Verona often and have stayed in different hotels there. But I always end up coming back to Hotel Italia. It is in a decent area, just a ten minute walk to Piazza Erbe and there's a supermarket a minute's walk away. But just keep in mind that it's closed afternoons and Sundays (the supermarket, not the hotel!). Besides the fact it is well located, the quality of its employees is beyond limits. All of the staff was ready to help us out, most especially the waitresses at the Ristorantino. One down side: you have to pay for the internet. In the world of global connectivity I find it quasi-ridiculous to pay for internet service.

This was our second stay, and I must say, things had slightly gone downhill. Basically, don't stay here if you want to attended the opera, as they no longer supply a coach to collect you afterwards. Instead, they arrange a taxi to pick you up, at a price of 30euros, which in our case didn't turn up, and we had to walk back to the hotel at 00.45 in the […] morning, and at 60 is slightly un-nerving. well after coming from Venice I was expecting something more, no air conditioning and the room been under the roof was hot, plus the bathroom heater was in full blast (that did not help) we could not keep windows open cause was on the road and noisy... There is not a lot I can say about this hotel that I was happy with. Just that I am glad to be out of there. The lobby was nice and I never tried the restuarant so I cant comment on that. Location is terrible, takes about 10 minutes by bus to anywhere central, only a supermarket, a garage and a small bar around the hotel that I could see, so you cant […] stroll out and enjoy the sights. The street also seems a bit dangerous at night, would not want to walk alone. The room was terrible. The bed was one of the most uncomfortable beds I have every slept in, pillows hard, just a sheet and a smelly blanket on top and I awoke with very strange looking spots, not saying there are bed bugs since I did not look for them but it might be. The carpet was smelly, my room was looking out to the road so the noise from the cars was very disturbing, the TV did not work the first night, the second I could get CNN ( they claim satelite TV) as the only english channel. The shower just dribbled and kept changing temperatures, I had shampoo in my hair all day long and felt very dirty that I could not clean myself. The tiles were cracked and the towels were just rags really, very thin and flimsy. The air con shut off at night so it was very hot in the room. The staff, while not downright rude, were not friendly at all. I very much wish I had spent a little more, stayed more central and been able to enjoy lovely Verona more since this really marred my trip there. Read more

Due to lack of time I didn’t make use of hotel facilities such as the spa etc, but the room and the common areas was as clean as they come and decorated in a discreet, classical taste; the room was at the back so it was also quiet, despite the hotel being on a busy street (convenient for public transport and a 15min picturesque walk to the city centre; also featuring amazing little pizza place right next to the hotel). The hotel staffs were also very helpful in recommending us good restaurants both nearby the hotel and also in the center of Verona. The restaurant nearby the hotel, "Pizzeria Mameli Restorante" was indeed the best Italian restaurant we had experienced after visiting many cities in Italy for more than ten times. The people in the area nearby the hotel were also very friendly. We had also visited a bar nearby the hotel located on the right hand side of the hotel (How could we forget the name?
