Edgewater Inn & Cottages - Eagle River

This is a really old motel, dark paneled walls, old smelly carpet, outdated bathroom, window air conditioner, and overall a bad choice for your family.

I booked this hotel because I hoped this would be a place that I could bring my family to year after year for snowmobiling vacations, and I wanted to check it out while I was in the area. This charming place has access right to Eagle River for fishing, boating etc. Only one mile from town. Reminded me of a clean 1950's decor getaway motel complete with updated cottages. Grilled our dinner one night and canoed the next. Couldn't ask for a more relaxing place. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This is an older facility, probably built in the 30s or thereabouts and periodically updated since then. It is conveniently located near Eagle River downtown. Staff was friendly and helpful and our room was clean and neat. Accommodations are much like they were in Wisconsin in the 50's and 60's (when I vacationed as a child with family) so if you want […] a modern hotel this may not suit you. Rates were competitive for the value received. Staff recommended local dining, and we liked the Wicked Grill which was just down the street in another 30's log structure. This isn't a swanky spot and you won't feel like you're getting much of a bargain, but considering this is an area where you probably won't be spending much time in the facilities anyway, this is probably not a bad option. The staff was accommodating and the room was clean enough. Expedia needs to review its star rating system. This hotel should not be higher than one star. The Inn is a little shabby looking - but the owner said he's painting it in October. The worst thing was that the shower ran out of water every day - after the first person had a short shower. It even stopped in the middle of my shower - and I was the first […] shower.
