Tharroe of Mykonos - Mikonos Town

As a world traveler I do not write many reviews, but this is an excellent place to stay. Not only for the excellent views, breakfast, tranquility, and good beds and walking distance to town. It is the friendly staff and the manager Adonis, what make this place great.

The greatest part of staying in Tharroe was its view of Mykonos town and the surroundings of the island. The priviledged location of the hotel at the top of one of the highest hill of Mykonos gives it a dominant position to enjoy the sunsets and the windy weather of the island.

Great place!!! The hotel is a little place located 20m (walking) to the town. However you can also rent a car (which I strongly recommend to go to the beaches - try the ones on the not so popular side of the island). The service is excelent and the front desk staff really nice and helpful.

The staff at the Tharroe are fantastic. They are polite, cheerful and helpful and make the stay worthwhile. We found nothing was too much trouble, especially Andonis, the manager and Christina on reception. Have just returned from our stay at Tharroe Mykonos. The hotel is in a central location about 5 minutes by car from the airport. The staff team are all friendly and helped to make our stay extremely enjoyable especially with their knowledge of the island. The bedrooms are spacious, minimalistic in style and very clean.

For being a 5 star hotel, we were expecting so much more. The breakfast buffet was quite small and you had to be quick because they didn't fill it up, so even if the bread finished half an hour before the buffet supposed to close, there was no bread! The information was quite poor, our bathtube was leaking and nothing was done about it. We found mould in the bathroom, breakfast was stale, too far away from the main town and you could not possibly walk there at night as there is no footpath requiring you to walk on the road. We left eary.

It is every bit as good as in the pictures, the staff are some of the friendliest and most helpful you could find. It's a 10 minute walk down the hill right into the town and about 15 minutes back up the hill but well worth it for the views. We didn't have to wait at all for a taxi back up to the hotel as there was always one waiting day and night at […] the edge of town. Not the 4* hotel it is advertised for. Customer service non-existent. Moved room half way during the stay with no explanation (apparently common occurence in that hotel) and asked to pack all stuff by mid-day ready for the move! When complained, offered a complimentary dinner (which they tried to charge for at checkout); oh wine wasn't included, so […] ended up having dinner at a restaurant where I wouldnt have normally chosen to eat. Hotel deputy manager was rude and unhelpful. At check out, we noted unexplained charges on our bills, which subsequently appeared to belong to a different client! No apology was offered. First room was not refurbished since the early 90's. Shower had mould growing around the tiles at the bottom and the head was covered with green water salts. Bathroom in the second room was newer but equally badly maintained. Views from the pool were amazing, although unless you fought with the other guests you had no chance of getting access to one of 6 sun loungers that the pool area has. Food and drinks are ridiculously expensive. A plate of french fries by the pool costs 7 euro!!! In general, not a place i'd stay again or reccomend to anyone that is willing to pay the prices they are charging. Lacked the charm and greek hospitality that we are normally accustomed to in the greek isles. Read more

Rond vijf uur in de middag kwamen we aan in dit hotel, maar moesten vervolgens nog bijna een uur op onze kamer wachten. De ontvangst was vriendelijk. Met een glaasje wijn werd ons verzocht bij het zwembad te wachten. Dat was geen straf, want het uitzicht is schitterend.We kregen een upgrade naar een luxe kamer, maar zelfs deze kamer vonden we het bedrag […] dat we hadden betaald niet waard. De gehele nacht hebben we veel geluidsoverlast gehad van een loshangende schotelantenne. De ligging is niet heel handig. Buiten Mikonos stad aan een drukke weg. Het ontbijt is redelijk. Read more

Pour les habitués des hotels de chaine (Marriott, Hyatt ou Sofitel), soyez prevenus qu'il s'agit d'un petit hotel paisible, pas d'un hub urbain. L'hotel est situe a 10-15 minutes […] a pied de la ville, 20-25 des restaurants et bars du port. Je recommande de faire le trajet jusqu'a la ville en voiture (de location ou taxi) car les routes sont etroites, sans trottoirs et les automobilistes pas toujours (ou souvent) tres sobres. Read more
