"Great Honeyoon Stay"
09/26/14 FromTheKootenays Invermere, Canada
We booked the Coeur d'Alene Resort as one of the overnight stays on our honeymoon and we're glad we did, it certainly made our trip that much more memorable! We had visited the city of Coeur d'Alene several times previously, but had never splurged and stayed at the resort before. Having stayed there once now, in the future we'll definitely stay there again, no question! On our arrival we were informed that we'd received a complimentary upgrade, which we happily accepted! The upgraded bi-level suite overlooking the marina was beautiful!! The positives we found about the CdA Resort - our spacious and spotless suite was excellent with tasteful furnishings, great views, large furnished balcony, huge make-up/bathroom area; the first-class staff we encountered from the front desk, dining areas, Whispers lounge, and housekeeping were to a person friendly, efficient and accommodating; the hotel location on the lake within easy walking distance of the downtown core and beach walk was perfect; the meals and drinks we ate at the resort in lakeside ambience were good and surprisingly fairly reasonably priced; the special bottle of champagne and chocolate-coated strawberry welcome tray we pre-ordered to help celebrate the occasion was a really nice elegant touch; taking the CdA Resort motor boat to the golf course Floating Green restaurant for breakfast made for a memorable excursion; and, the building itself and grounds are well maintained and picturesque. The few negatives about the CdA Resort (and why we struggled with providing a 5-star rating) - the room charges at the resort quite fairly reflect the quality of the resort, but as a guest, in obviously agreeing to pay the higher rack rate, we found our experience was tainted somewhat by having to also pay additionally for such things as parking ($17/day) and for wifi access (for more than one device). Definitely felt like management was 2-biting, unfortunately, when the rack rate is already substantial. Overall, the Coeur d'Alene Resort is definitely worth spending the extra money for, but also know going in that there will be other unexpected expenses you might not have anticipated when budgeting your travel dollar. That said, 'yes' we will stay there again!
"Loved, Loved, Loved this resort!!!"

We were originally booked at a near by hotel but it wasn't in the "heart" of the town. I walked into CDR to see if by chance they had rooms available. The gal at the front desk was so helpful! She walked me through options and said she would try to find us a great room. She did! It was on the top floor with a balcony, sunk-in living room, king bed, etc. The room was huge! We had 2 kids traveling with us so the extra space was a plus. The rooms are nice & clean but aren't not "brand new" in appearance. The service in the resort is 5 star all the way! We were planning to do a 2nd day at Silverwood the next day but our kids decided they would rather stay at the resort so we ended up booking a second night. There's an indoor pool and hot tub. Large pool and they had pool toys for the kids. It was clean and kept up. I came in and there wasn't anyone by the desk so I just went in to swim. The guy manning the desk brought me a towel and set it by my bag so I was prepared when I got out of the pool. Great service! The outdoor pool - I heard some complaints from other guests because the pool used to be right at the hotel. The outdoor pool for the resort is now at the golf course. Yes, this isn't as convienent but I thought this made the stay more interesting! They have smaller boats that take the guests from the resort to the golf course/pool. The boats are beautiful! Older boats with restored wood that only hold about 16 people each. The boat ride itself was a blast! The boats are going back & forth all day so our wait was less than 10 minutes each time. Once arriving at the golf course - The view is spectacular! There is a infinity pool overlooking the water. There are loungers at the pool or on the beach. Upon arrival they ask for your room number and then take care of you all day! They set up our chairs with chair towels/extra towels/ice water and served drinks/food whenever asked. (Yes, the price is on the high side, but we didn't mind for the great service). The pool was a little colder than our kids liked but if the day would have been a little hotter, we wouldn't have had any complaints. There isn't a hot tub at the outdoor area, which woudl have been nice. The golf course has a restaurant overlooking the floating green. I would suggest having lunch here if you enjoy watching the golfers. (my husband was in heaven) They kept all of our stuff at the pool with our chairs while we were gone for 2 hours - again - great service. We are planning a trip next Summer to stay for a few nights! CDR Management - You know how to train your staff!

We had a great stay at the CdA. Our family: two adults, two teen boys, and two dogs. We had a gorgeous room that overlooked the water. It had a fireplace and plenty of space to move around. We appreciated the fact that CdA is pet friendly. Actually, you could say CdA is just plain friendly; everyone we encountered was very nice. They may be working out their details on the administrative front, though. We had a few problems with misunderstandings during our stay. I inquired about the pool in particular, since it looks so spectacular in the photos. I was surprised to find out upon arrival, that it's not really on the grounds, you need to take a shuttle boat to it. Well, OK. I also found out that it was closed that day! Now, that is something the reservations person really should have been able to tell me. Also, the bell service took about 45 minutes each time to arrive to our room. Everyone was very nice, but that is excessive and I hope they have worked that out by now. Well, their sincere smiles went a long way in smoothing that over, but it's something CdA will need to work on. The hotel is immaculate, well kept, and pleasant. if you can get there, the infintity pool over lake CdA is really beautiful. the hotel is centrally located and fun to walk around the grounds. As celiac travelers, we were happily surprised by the gluten free baskets (breads crackers, and cookies) we were given at brunch. the chef himself came out and introduced himself at our table and went through the menu personally with us. Let me tell you, he can do magic with potatoes. If I ever find myself in CdA again I would certainly stay here, but first i'd confirm that the pool was open for business.
"Lovely, Serene Setting"

Enjoyed 4 nights at the resort for a conference. What a lovely resort. The Coeur d'Alene has everything. Abundant number of restaurants, ample shopping, lots of on-site activities including live music, lake cruises, a spa, swimming, hiking trails, etc. Rooms are spacious and clean with amazing views. Hotel was quiet in the evening. Great property.

Recently returned to this Resort after a four year absence. The staff are wonderful, cater to clients needs and wishes. The rooms on the other hand, although with breath taking views overlooking the Marina and lake are in desperate need of updating. Very clean and comfortable however at the price I do not expect a repaired bathtub that drains painfully slowly, finish peeling off the bathroom door and the sofa and lounge sofa look tired and worn and lighting no woman could use to apply makeup...LOL. I compare the prices to that of the Pan Pacific and this resort falls far short. Concierge service, travel service, front desk service - all wonderful. Approximately a 45 min ride from Spokane airport and if you request pick up, the travel van is very luxurious. Great place, rooms just a let down for the price. Food in the Dockside, awesome and reasonably priced. Beware huge portions.
"Real nice consistent hotel and restaurant"

Having stayed here several times, I can now comment on the consistency of this hotel. Tower rooms are lovely, roomy, with lake views and small balconies, fireplaces… Beverly's in a terrific restaurant. Our favorites are assorted small plates for dinner, great wine list and desserts, and Robert at the piano. This trip, however, the spectacular Ahi caught me two nights in a row! In-hotel shops are very nice, and my husband loves the golf course, while I like the Tubbs Hill hike next door. Downtown is right there, with shops and restaurants, a Human Rights Institute, rental kayaks, swimming area, also rental motor boats.
"Would be the "best" in a big city"

This is a world class destination hotel with first class service and a newly remodeled facility. Our lake view room was homey, yet elegant and very roomy with the best view of Coeur d'Alene Lake in town. Beautiful wooden boats transport you in a few minutes to their world class golf course with a floating green or to the infinity pool and beach at the golf course site (also has tennis courts). We loved the lunch at the upper end restaurant with the endless views over the lake. Great lobby for relaxing or people watching. Nice bar with outdoor area overlooking their marina. Also more of a family restaurant with views of the marina. Overall a wonderful place to stay or to just visit the facility for a meal or drinks or for a coffee in the relaxing lobby area. Also connected to an indoor shopping mall via a sky bridge.
"A Real Jewel"

This hotel is simply exceptional. Everything is well designed. The rooms are spacious with a wonderful sitting area separate from the bed. The closet area is also separate as is the shower area. The water pressure is fantastic. Room amenities are great. Hotel facilities are very good, although the fitness center needs to be open 24/7. Restaurants are great. Hotel staff is exceptional. And.....the hotel sits on a majestic lake. This is a world class resort. Very, very well run. One of the best hotels I have been to --- an exceptional experience.
"A two night resort"

My husband hit the nail on the head. Everyone was friendly. The room was lovely. The food in the restaurants was very good. The Starbucks in the lobby was amazing for a very early cup of coffee or breakfast! But after two nights we were a little over it. The best thing we did was take the free boat to the golf course and eat a light dinner on the terrace watching the last golfers drive to the floating green. We also drove to the Mineral Ridge hike, which was lovely! Big resorts are not our thing but the three great night's sleep teed us up for the main part of our trip!

There are few nice things I can say about this resort so I will state them first. Most pleasant was the use of soft water in the shower, the main floor looks like that is where the resort put all their money. Bed was comfortable. Room 'looked' nice. That's about all the nice things to say The room was coffin like and I paid a premium price for a king suite. Totally unacceptable for the price. Walls were too thin, could hear the neighbors and I'm sure they could hear us. Beverly's restaurant (in house) wasn't as good as expected, again over priced and average food, though decorative not filling. Breakfast is NOT included! I read in a travel magazine that the Spa was one of the best in the nation for massages. Neither one of us liked our massage, both were weak handed and obviously didn't understand the concept of a deep tissue massage. Though partly not their fault, the table was basically a water bed, preventing any deep tissue massage. Again over priced. Utter disappointment. Will never go back.
