On a peninsula overlooking scenic Waitemata Harbour, Auckland CBD is not only the country’s major business centre, but plays host to a concentration of artistic and cultural venues in addition to nightlife precincts. In more recent years, much of the waterfront has been reclaimed for high-end residential apartments, trendy cafes and bars, marinas, and public recreational use.

We were put in a room facing the neighboring office block on a low floor. The room is clean with all the basic amenities. Bathroom is old but nevertheless clean. We had a bit of struggle towing our luggage to the hotel after stepping off the Airbus. The breakfast included was very good but the renovation work at the lobby being done with minimal cover was a negative. It is unlikely we would go back.

The hotel was very comfortable, we had a nice stay overall. The room was adequate with two double beds as we were three persons in the room. The bathroom was very clean as well. Nice view of the city too. The only reason I rated it a 4 on some counts was because we requested the room be serviced and it was not. We hung the sign on the doorknob requesting the room be services--really we just wanted the beds made up and towels replenished, with 3 to a room you can understand how a run on towels can occur. Anyway, I'd recommend calling in your request to the front desk if you want your room serviced and that should solve any problem there.

We arrived in Auckland at 6:30 am after a tedious, rough ride from the USA. Checked in to the hotel at about 9 am, they were very accommodating and gave us a very nice room overlooking the Sky Tower. Very clean and comfortable, great breakfast, good location. Highly recommended.

Rydges has very friendly staff, great location, and is moderately priced for a vacation or business trip. 10 min walk to the harbor, 2 minutes to the sky tower, and the financial district is all around. Lots of small pubs and restaurants all around. Cons: $30 to park everyday breakfast was great but very expensive rooms were a little small, but not cramped The fitness center including the pool and spa is located about 7 minute walk down to the harbor. Its not very nice but I guess its not a big deal, just would of been nice to have it in the hotel.

This was an outstanding deal. The location is perfect: right next to the Sky Tower, just a 10-minute walk from the ferry and seaport. The rooms are comfortable, the staff is friendly. You even have a giant screen plasma tv in the room. This is like getting a 5-star hotel at a 1-star price.

The location of the hotel was very good. It was only a few blocks from Queen Street which the main street and leads to the harbor. Also walking distance to the SkyTower and to Victoria Market. Their "free" breakfast buffet is outstanding with a wide variety of food, including lamb chops. They held our luggage for us several hours before and after our arrival/departure from the hotel. We playd cards in the lobby while waiting for our ride to the airport and the friendly staff offered us a pitcher of water or other drinks. We would definitely stay here again.

Pleasantly surprised by the room. Nice size, extremely comfortable, beautiful bedding. Hotel is undergoing expansion, so check-in was up one floor, and this public area was showing wear. However, the staff was super helpful and friendly. The floor in our bathroom could have used some bleaching, but other people may not even notice this. I would recommend this hotel as it is a great value.

I wanted a hotel that was central to downtown so I could prepare for my trip around New Zealand, and a property that was reasonably priced with high quality. The Rydges met all my requirements. It is a block or so from Queen St., is near lots of shopping and transportation, the room was beautiful and service was perfect. It had pleanty of space in my room, a coffee bar, and I never felt crowded. It was indeed the perfect choice. I'd stay there again when I return to Auckland.

The shower curtain did not come close to running the length of the shower so our bathroom was soaked, parking is extra (by a great deal and not mentioned when booking), and we weren't as close to restaurants or events as we thought we'd be. Plus, when we got back to the states we had to dispute items from the mini-bar (that we didn't consume) being charged to our credit card. Overall very bad experience.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Rydges Auckland. The room was very spacious and nicely furnished, the bed, pillows and linens were all high quality and soooooo comfortable! We had a corner room with a view of the sky tower so we got to watch the bungee jumpers go flying by which was quite entertaining. The staff was courteous and very helpful. No complaints, we would stay there again and would recommend it to others.

Good location in the CBD (central business district.) Got upgraded for free! Service was prompt, polite, and excellent. Room service was ok, (good service, so-so food.) Room does an excellent job of keeping outside noise out! Over all, a good hotel.

A airport bus "airbus" goes from the airport to a place 100 yards from the hotel near the Auckland Tower. It costs $22 return and saves a fortune from the airport. Also a free bus travels from the Tower to downtown....great service and hotel is on the route.
