Also, they do not know how their internet works and prefer to have you purchase hours of internet time instead of giving you a number to call for help. We used 10 minutes of time, went sightseeing, and did not attempt to use internet until the next day. The internet time was expired by the time we went to use it again. When we went down to find out the problem, they told us all hours must be used in a row. So... if you by internet time do it an hour at a time, which will cost you more, but in the long run you won't waste so much. BTW, the desk staff all spoke english and were very pleasant. Read more

loved the free minibar which was replenished with water and beer every day. the first day I arrived the hotel was a bit hot (no A/C) but after that when the outside temps were cooler I was comfortable. Very nice cozy room and reasonably priced indeed.

This hotel is located literally steps from the Markisches Museum stop on the U2 line of the Berlin U-Bahn, which made exploring the city a breeze. All the main tourist attractions are short rides away, and trains arrive about every 5 minutes during most times of day. The immediate area around the hotel was very quiet. Not many stores were open nearby […] at night, but this was great for getting some rest. The hotel was very clean and the staff was quite friendly. The staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful with directions and requests. The free gummy bears on your pillow and beer in your fridge when you get to your room were a nice touch. I did have two issues during my stay, however: 1) The card reader, that activated the lights and TV, inside my first room malfunctioned on my first night. It was blinking my TV and fan on and off, which was quite annoying! Fortunately, I contacted the front desk and they had me in a new room right away. 2) The rooms I was given had windows that opened into the interior lobby of the hotel rather than outside. Since there was no air conditioning the in lobby or rooms this meant the rooms were extremely hot! This was surprising because it was much cooler outside. This hotel is directly off the Markisches Museum stop of the U2 line of the U-Bahn. It's also about a 10-15 minute walk from Alexanderplatz, which is a more central U-Bahn station with a lot of shopping nearby. In terms of convenience for getting around Berlin, this hotel can't be beat. The hotel itself seems to have been recently renovated - the lights […] in the hall are on automatic sensor so they turn off until you exit your room or the elevator. The beds are a bit soft for my taste. In the room we had, there was a small fridge with 2 bottles of water and 2 bottles of beer, replenished every night we drank one - for free! The room was a double room with two twin beds and was a good size and generally very functional. My only negative is regarding the lack of air conditioning and general ventilation. The hotel has no A/C. By itself, this is not a deal-breaker. However, there is barely any air either! We called downstairs every night because we'd return and the room would be stifling, and we were instructed on how to turn on the "ventilation", which was pathetic. So instead we slept with the window wide open, which solved the temperature problem but was rather loud. Also, you get an hour of free wireless internet every night - it's pathetic speed, so don't count on using it for work or serious web surfing. My friend who accompanied me said the sauna facilities were also very nice, though I didn't see these. We also didn't eat the hotel breakfast - other reviewers mentioned it was overpriced, so we generally just ate elsewhere. Overall, this is a good place to stay, and I got a decent rate. If they fixed their internet access and their ventilation, I'd give it 5 stars all the way down. Read more

Hotel okay for price. Clean and fairly spacious rooms. Good location right next to subway stop, and easy walk to several main sites. Downsides - 2 twin beds pushed together instead of one double bed (annoying for a couple). Bathroom a bit outdated and bath products very low quality. Too bad breakfast wasn't included.

The hotel is centrally located, literally around the corner from a U2 subway station that accesses all the major sights, 3 minute walk to a supermarket, pharmacy, and internet cafe (not to mention the hotel's own, generous compared to similar places, policy of 1 free internet hour per day in their lobby), and a 5-10 minute walk to world-class museums […] of the Museum Island. Most of Berlin is not "beautiful", for reasons of history, so hotels have to try harder and this one succeeds. It's quirky, comfortable, reasonably priced, bang up against the Underground, 10 mins walk to Unter den Linden and the Museum Island stock, and 5 from the rebuilt "old" quarter, which has plenty of restaurants. The immediate surroundings are […] not inspiring (though perfectly safe), but nor were many other places where pricier hotels were located, though we didn't get to see every area in 3 days. The little civic museum up the road is worth viewing. Breakfast is dear (€16) but most hotels seem to do this in Berlin and this one at least was excellent, with even prosecco on offer (though perhaps that was only for Easter!) The one fault I would cite is room temperature, which is centrally controlled (shades of DDR?) and the duvets were summer quality. We weren't as cosy as we should have been during a bitterly cold spell. Also - management seems to reply to comments on websites with stock phrases - perhaps they might offer a genuine reply to this one well-intended criticism? We certainly recommend the hotel, and would stay again. Read more

Me and my husband stayed here for a weekend away. The staff were really helpful and friendly, and the location was great. There is a metro station literally next door so you can be pretty much anywhere very quickly. My only quibble is that the hotel room felt it hadn't been changed since the 80s. Lots of wood, mirrors and flowery valances on the beds […] - and very outdated tiles in the bathroom. If you want a reasonable hotel in a great location and aren't too worried about decor, this is ideal. Read more
