"Double charged for the room"
I was charged once when I reserved the room, then again when I got to the hotel (at a different price I may add). When I checked my account the following morning and noticed both charges, I asked the receptionist at the front why I was charged again. She told me she did not know why and I needed to contact the manager after 7am. Called at 10am, was […] told she's not there and to call back the following day between 7am and 4pm. Called at 11:30am, was told she was not there and to call back the next day. Called the following day at 8am and finally reached the manager. She was very short with me. Before I could even explain my situation she said, "Sir, it's a holding fee it will drop off in a few days." Explained to her that it's two different charges, one from the website then another employee asked for my card and I was charged again. She told me she would look into it and give me a call back because she just got in and has some other things to tend too. I guess I paid more than double the rate I was promised. As far as the hotel, the rooms are very small. My bed was nothing but sheets, no actual blanket. To top it off, the elevator didn't work. Safe to say I do not plan to stay there again. We had only 1 washcloth. We had to go get that and they said they didn't have anymore. There were two of us. The mattress was not very good. It had a big soft spot in the middle. "WORST HOTEL EVER"
I booked this hotel with the help of an Expedia customer service agent and when the 4 star Fairfield Inn was book he looked for a comparable hotel. Having stayed at a Microtel Inn before I assumed it would be fine and our stay would be pleasant. I was wrong, when we arrived the parking lot was scary and there were men hanging around in the lobby just […] sitting there watching people come in. The clerk was yelling about a mouse behind the counter and had a difficult time checking us in because another employee had given away one of our rooms. After assigning us a new room with only one bed, we headed up tired and weary from a long day. Upon entering the rooms, you could tell they were old and dirty. The carpets were filthy and stained, the curtains were hanging off the hooks, there was old food in the microwave and the whole floor smelled horrible. Only half of the lights in the room worked and the toilet paper roller fell off the wall when we used it the first time. The sofa bed was unfit for anyone so we sent my sister and her son to another hotel. My husband and I stuck it out but it only got worse; the air conditioner did not work, the walls were paper thin and we could hear everything the couple beside us were saying. We awoke hoping for a decent breakfast...it was awful, stale frozen waffles, no fruit or juice, only a few pre-packaged items, lukewarm coffee and a rude clerk. Cost of hotel room in relation to the quality of it was fair. The room felt a bit cramped, however the bed was comfortable, and the television was placed perfectly. Hotel was clean, staff was friendly. Only negative point was the front desk. Person working the front desk was away from their post much of the time. Has to find a cleaning person to call them to get the needed service. Waited 3-4 times for the missing person. Other than the front desk issue, our stay was pleasant. Great hotel remodeled and refurbish. Very Clean. Staff was very nice and accommodating. I was working at the Vogtle Nuclear Facility and it was centrally located by the highway to get to work on time. Made my stay very easy. Comfortable bed. New flat screen. Clean bathroom. Wood floors.

I came down to Augusta to visit my husband at Fort Gordon. I usually stay at a Hampton Inn on Gordon Highway, but during this time they were completely booked up. I did a ton of research through Trip Advisor, Hotels.com, as well as many others, and I ended up going with the Red Roof Inn South. Upon entering my room, I immediately started to scope everything out to make sure it was clean and comfortable. The one thing that drew me to buy this room was the jacuzzi tub next to the bed. The tub was the first thing I looked at, and to my surprise, I found pubic hairs on the ledge of the tub. I immediately turned around and went back to the front desk. The lady working the front desk was cordial, and I assured her I wasn't the type to complain. But, I expressed my disappointment in the fact that the ONE THING ABOUT THIS ROOM I was excited for was in fact dirty :( She apologized and asked to show me another room. We went next door and it didn't look any better. She cleaned the mess up and I felt better. I just think for paying $80 plus tax for this type of a room, at this location, it could have been cleaner. All it takes is a little more attention to detail. :( :( :(

I really wanted to enjoy my stay here. We stayed here during our move-out transition off Fort Gordon. This place is only 3 miles from there. It's also pet friendly (no pet fees, btw) with attractive solid floors. Everything is beautifully remodeled and clean. The beds and pillows were very nice and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The pool was adequate. So why couldn't I enjoy my stay? Because the AC unit was funky. The first night, it ran constantly and was very cold, understandable because I had the thermostat set at 68 and the fan set to High. The second night, however, it was so warm and kept coming on and off. I set the fan to Auto and a more reasonable temperature (73), but it never got cool and would shut off before it felt cool enough. (Did I mention it was loud? This isn't a problem if it's always on because I tune it out, but when it comes off and on I noticed and awoke.) So I tried putting it on the same exact settings (albeit a higher temperature) as the night before, but it still shut off and didn't cool the room. Needless to say, I did not sleep well. However, it may have been allergies or stress compounding things, which is why I'm not deducting too much for that. The breakfast was simple and a bit understocked, I would say. My family of 6 pretty much drained the supply of breads left out. Lastly, the rooms are cramped. It drove me so crazy I convinced my husband to sleep in a second room with the animals. No, he was not in the dog house, but he needed to study for an exam. Oh, I almost forgot, the wireless internet is practically non-existent. My husband figured out how to use it on his computer, but I never did get it to work on my phone. Would I stay here again? I don't know, but I wouldn't have stayed anywhere else this time.

We stayed here for the boat races, rented 2 rooms and had not one problem. The staff were very helpful and as pleasant as you could ask for. Lots of remodeling was takin place and it looked very good. Beds were soft,room was clean,and we were happy. Great prices,great stay....
"Four star service"

I went to the masters with my 21 year old son and the greeting was warm and inviting. The nice Indian women ( sorry I have forgotten her name) offered a cold beverage and was very helpful in showing us to the room. The room was as expected...the basic bed and bath accommodations. When I retuned home I realized that my blue blazer and jeans were possibly left in the room. She located my items and they were returned promptly by federal express. Of course I paid for the shipping although she very good about leaving them in a safe place until the pick up. Thanks for the stellar service. Next time we are seeking a room for the masters I will check to see if she is still serving guests at The Red Roof Inn.
