Great area... Only 5 blocks from DuPont Circle. Many of the Embassies within a block or two. Building was charming. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Free wifi, breakfast, etc... Only a few blocks walk or bus ride to White House. Walking distance from many restaurants. My view was only fire escapes of building next door...Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very clean, could use some improvements"
No parking, desk staff acted incredibly inconvenienced when asked anything basic (where to park, where the bus picked up, location of nearby stores travelers would need) Neighborhood dwellers came in for free breakfast, so unless you get up early (before 8 am) don't expect anything other then cheerios & coffee.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clean and Quiet"
Room was small, but had everything we needed. Iron and ironing board had to be checked out from the front desk. Hotel staff seemed a little grumpy most of the time. Everything was clean and the rooms were quiet, though. The neighborhood is beautiful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good to not have bugs, but smelled like fumigation"
Perfectly comfy and well-kept room, but they must have sprayed or fumigated recently because the room absolutely REEKED of bug spray. Not the easiest to sleep with and disconcerting if you're pregnant, as I am.Genuine Expedia guest review
We really enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend the Java House for your morning coffee. You might want to pick up a piece of fruit for breakfast while you are there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Horrible experience, evening/night mgr was rude, absolutely no amenities, but most importantly, NO Parking, except parking garage blocks away which was full. We had a baby, it was hot with no assistance at all from staff. To make matters worst Expedia sent us to the wrong hotel, it was supposed to be the Embassy Suites and right behind us was another […] couple who also was sent to wrong place. Extremely overpriced & not even an ice machine. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
It is not close to the must-see sights but it is in a very nice part of Washington and it is a nice and clean hotel. The room was small but very clean and comfortable for a couple of nights.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was overall a pleasant experience, however the person at the front desk after 11pm was not a very social person and even gave attitude some times, other than that is was goodGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worse condition than an interstate motel room"
I ran out of room describing all the problems with this place, so here is the shortened version: PROS: Aside from the basics like running water and electricity, the only pros were free Wifi, a working old TV, a sadly-surprising lack of vermin, a feeble attempt at breakfast, and satisfactory responses from the staff once you get their attention. CONS: […] Where do I begin? I'll go in the order I discovered things. A broken light switch covered in scotch tape. An ugly, cramped room with bare walls (except for warped wallpaper and a single mirror). A chair that looks like it was rescued from a dumpster. A dresser in similar condition (marks everywhere, broken drawer and handles, etc). An uncomfortable mattress (of all the things that a hotel SHOULD get right...). Inconvenient outlets. No ironing board and no iron. A tiny, loose toilet seat. No desk. A view into a back alley. Front desk staff that all seem to lack peripheral vision. Lackluster free continental breakfast in cramped quarters. All this for a relatively-obscenely-high nightly rate (presumably because I booked late). OVERALL: Extremely disappointing. I expected something that would be comparable to a Days Inn or some other interstate motel room (looks and feels clean and somewhat-maintained). Instead, just about everything was sub-par. It was all the bad of "quaint" and none of the good. I will not be staying here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms were so insanely tiny and dirty to boot! The windows were so cheap that the traffic kept us up all night. There was a counter ice machine that make enough ice for one bucket of ice and the weather was 95 degrees! Terrible, terrible hotel. Dirty. Cheap. Yuck.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Warning please away!!!!!!!!!!"
This was the worst hotel I have stayed at in years. Room was very affordable and the front counter person was nice/helpful but the room accomadations were horrible. This room reminded me of the Bates Motel. The hotel should be classified as a motel and not hotel. Please dont let the name Embassy fool you it is not even close to the Embassy Suites level. […] If you are looking for just a place to lay your head for the night it might work for you but if you are looking to bring your wife she will hate you the entire stay there. "Not What I Expected"
Parking was not available. The nearest garage was 3 blocks away and charged $30 for overnight parking. The bathroom had no ventilation and smelled of mildew. They used so much furniture polish on the bannister to the lobby which was not properly rubbed in that it was actually very sticky. They didn't even have a vending machine for sodas.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room is small, Staff is not nice, no greetings, network signal is weakGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice place! Very close to everything, Clean"
Very competent staff, clean rooms, bright and sunny, reasonably priced and a good value.Genuine Expedia guest review
The convenience of the location, where the hotel sits; you can walk to the White House and many other shops and stores surrounding the area; Metro bus across the street and the Metro train about 4 blocks over; Good customer service there. The breakfast was fresh and good just to start out your day. Not a good place to stay, for more than 1 nite. I stayed […] for 4 nites, horrible include the rooms, warned out carpet, furniture, no phone, bed lumpy, dark, no view, one spot to get ice and it was controlled, I could not wait to leave and will never book there again. It was a nice hotel in a great area. Parking maybe trouble ask where they put cars. Also ask if you going to stay in the basement. You may not like staying down there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Arriving to the hotel the staff was not very inviting. They did not seem to really care about our comfort or stay. The man handed us the keys and did not even bother to direct us or even give a decent direction as to where our room was. The breakfast was old and stale. Bottom line, I would never stay there again!!!!!!!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
Nice for the money and location. Only complaint would be not having an iron and ironing board in each room. The mattress could of been better as well but I can sleep on most anything. Very quite though which was nice!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very ordinary hotel; but high cost"
The hotel amenities and the room size do not support the high cost that they charge? The romm is very small; you do not have moving space at all. There is no soace to keep even an overnight travel bag. You are guaranteed to fall tripping on the bag. The breakfast is ok; Seats are very limited in the dining (if you call it so) area, which is actually […] a corridor in the basement. You have to stand and eat or wait for 20 minutes, if you happen to go anytime between 7 30 am and 9 00 am. "Good for visiting"
The hotel is perfect for people who are just visiting the city, great location (20 min to the mall), bus stop just at the front. Rooms are pretty small but beds are very comfortable. WiFi is available and free. Breakfast is included in the price and is also very good. I has a very good cost benefit rate. I would recommend this hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel for one or two people travelling toget"
Everyone I dealt with at the hotel was great - professional, friendly, helpful. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The only thing on a less than positive note would be that the room was quite small which would make it difficult for more than two people.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Cozy, simple and comforting!"
If I were to describe my over all experience, for the short period of time I was there, it was great! Beds are incredibly comfortable, bathrooms are renovated and very well distributed. I would suggest anybody to stay here with out a doubt.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel is in a good location on a pretty tree-lined street. We walked everywhere but some might find the walk to the Mall, White House, etc. a bit far. Lots of good restaurants in neighborhood. Hotel has arrangement with parking garage and rate was reasonable. Coffee and tea available 24 hours in lobby. We reserved a king bed but they did not have one […] available and we had to take 2 queens. The bathroom was a good size but did not have any surface space whatsoever for personal items (vanity, shelf, etc.). Room was a decent size but due to its shape/layout, it was cramped with 2 queen beds. Like the bathroom, there was very little surface space for personal items. The front desk attendants were calm and low-key but were a bit too passive. If I return, I would like to try a new hotel, but if I had to, I would stay here again. Hotel was good for the price. I enjoyed it. It is near some of the gay bars, just a couple blocks away. I asked for a towel once at around midnight for me and my guest, but was told there wasn't any behind the desk. That was a major turn off. There is a bell everything you want to re enter the hotel, a bit annoying but they are quick to let you in. I […] would stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Worst hotel in the world, my room was in the basement with bars on the window, a light from the alleyway was shining in my room all night, the room was unbelievably small, the cable had more Spanish channels than American, I wouldn't let my dog stay in that roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"excellent efficiency hotel in heart of dc"
cheap, great location, helpful staff. rooms basic but for the price perfect.Genuine Expedia guest review
Lower floor rooms were exceedingly tiny and dark--facing out with a small window to a dark, unsightly alley. Changed to upper floor room toward back which was larger. Alley view then had a bit more light. Saw three rooms. Each had a very small bathroom with only a shower. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful, however. "Nice Boutique Hotel"
It was manageable...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The first room they showed me was extremely dark, with only a single light bulb attempting to illuminate the whole room. When I asked for a different room, it was a different world - -very pleasant and light room with six light bulbs (two overhead and two lamps with two bulbs each!) What gives? Why give me the worst room at first and why not at least […] give the little dark room an extra bulb? Location was great, staff generally good although when I asked for an iron they gave me one that left gooey black marks on my clothes -- seems like a little more attention to detail would go a long way here. The room was a bit small. I would have preferred a little more space. Because it was a weekend stay, there was no trouble parking otherwise, garages are available for a large fee. The neighborhood is quiet and clean. I would recommend this place to my friends.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was not given the room I reserved and the hotel refused to do anything about it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"loved the location but room was dirty"
I loved the location but there was a lot of room for improvement. My room was tiny but I was okay with that. If I stood on either side of the bed I could not stretch my arm out completely before hitting a wall. The carpet was horribly dirty and my bathroom still had a used bar of soap and razor in the shower.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Avoid this hotel, unless it's all you can afford."
This hotel is not very welcoming. The front desk employee was just flat out rude upon arrival. It took him a while just to acknowledge me standing in front of him, typically at hotels I'm greeted with a smile, not here. Then, we got up to our room, and it was a 2 double bed room. The room was literally only big enough to fit the 2 beds, and a foot […] or 2 to walk around around the beds, it was that bad. My friend and I actually just laughed at the whole experience at this point, we find humor in things when they are just completely awful. Finally, after a late night out on the town, we get back to the hotel and the front desk clerk had setup a recliner and a blanket and was passed out behind the front desk, sleeping.... We got home around 3am, but still quite funny. Finally, I was just interested in getting up for the breakfast in the morning to have a decent meal before getting on the road to head home. We got down to the lobby at 9:30 only to find the the breakfast ended at 9am!! What?! You better get up early if you want to catch the breakfast, usually hotels offer breakfast until 10 or 1030, but this hotel is far from normal. Luckily I was really only here to sleep, otherwise if you want a nice stay in DC at a nice hotel, skip this one. On the bright side, this was the cheapest hotel in the area for the night but still quite expensive. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Small and dark"
We liked the neighborhood for the restaurants and bars, even though the hotel is a good 10 minutes away from the closest subway station, but the room was small and dark, and the breakfast buffet was empty by the time we got to the breakfast room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Small yet convenient"
The Embassy does have small rooms, but I was only using it to sleep in, so it worked great. Minimal interaction with the front desk. Nice safe neighborhood. Clean, no bugs or nothing. No luxuries, but good for what I needed it for.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Small Rooms"
When I viewed the pictures online and booked my room we thought we would get a normal sized room with two queen beds. When we checked in, they only had single beds. Since there were four of us, they did a good job of accommodating us with two rooms for the same price. They were able to get rooms next to each other which was good since we were going […] to put the kids in their own room. The rooms were ridiculously small. The continental breakfast was good quality but very cramped. In general, if you were travelling by yourself or as a couple this hotel could be acceptable for the right price. "Like a European Pension"
I had a very negative first impression of the hotel, but over three days it charmed me.Here is what I hated: when I arrived, the halls stank of cheap chemical cleaner. "Terrible no exaggeration"
I booked this place online & when I got there, the man at the front desk acted like he didn't want to service me, honestly I don't think he expected me to be African American (he just stared at me before he asked how may I be helped & he put my license and credit card on the table, not in my hand which was held out which is RUDE) I think this hotel […] is supposed to be for vistors from out of states just looking for a place to stay . Anyways, I booked a double bed, my room was a single bed so I went to the front desk & he told me he didn't have any double beds available ... So you don't get what you pay for . Some drawer knobs were missing from the dresser, the mouse to the computer downstairs didn't work, there was no "continental breakfast" like they had said, the cups for Ice or coffee in your room were broken as well . The front desk was rude, said no I cannot help you for everything I asked . Not welcoming at all . Unsure if these things were because of the color of my skin I would hope not though that's how I felt .. But regardless of the color issue, I would not recommend this hotel for ANYONE . I'm sorry but I did not feel comfortable Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Decent, well-located place"
The hotel is fine, but for what it is, I don't think it is particularly well-priced. Surly man at front desk; tiny, tiny room that was freezing cold except when the jet-engine-sounding-forced-air-heat was on full blast; funky old TV with bad sound system; I asked to be moved to front of hotel to get a large window rendering the room lighter, the surly […] oik said wait until tomorrow.
