"Great hotel for one or two people travelling toget"
Everyone I dealt with at the hotel was great - professional, friendly, helpful. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The only thing on a less than positive note would be that the room was quite small which would make it difficult for more than two people.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Simple but nice"
It was a short-time stay but the place is great. Clerks were nice and very polite as well as helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location for us."
The morning desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The night guy not so much. Small room and horrible water pressure. Clean and within walking distance for our needs. Ok for a last minute trip.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Cozy, simple and comforting!"
If I were to describe my over all experience, for the short period of time I was there, it was great! Beds are incredibly comfortable, bathrooms are renovated and very well distributed. I would suggest anybody to stay here with out a doubt.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel is in a good location on a pretty tree-lined street. We walked everywhere but some might find the walk to the Mall, White House, etc. a bit far. Lots of good restaurants in neighborhood. Hotel has arrangement with parking garage and rate was reasonable. Coffee and tea available 24 hours in lobby. We reserved a king bed but they did not have one […] available and we had to take 2 queens. The bathroom was a good size but did not have any surface space whatsoever for personal items (vanity, shelf, etc.). Room was a decent size but due to its shape/layout, it was cramped with 2 queen beds. Like the bathroom, there was very little surface space for personal items. The front desk attendants were calm and low-key but were a bit too passive. If I return, I would like to try a new hotel, but if I had to, I would stay here again. Hotel was good for the price. I enjoyed it. It is near some of the gay bars, just a couple blocks away. I asked for a towel once at around midnight for me and my guest, but was told there wasn't any behind the desk. That was a major turn off. There is a bell everything you want to re enter the hotel, a bit annoying but they are quick to let you in. I […] would stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Worst hotel in the world, my room was in the basement with bars on the window, a light from the alleyway was shining in my room all night, the room was unbelievably small, the cable had more Spanish channels than American, I wouldn't let my dog stay in that roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"excellent efficiency hotel in heart of dc"
cheap, great location, helpful staff. rooms basic but for the price perfect.Genuine Expedia guest review
Lower floor rooms were exceedingly tiny and dark--facing out with a small window to a dark, unsightly alley. Changed to upper floor room toward back which was larger. Alley view then had a bit more light. Saw three rooms. Each had a very small bathroom with only a shower. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful, however. Oh, no printer was attached […] to available public computer. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Boutique Hotel"
It was manageable...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The first room they showed me was extremely dark, with only a single light bulb attempting to illuminate the whole room. When I asked for a different room, it was a different world - -very pleasant and light room with six light bulbs (two overhead and two lamps with two bulbs each!) What gives? Why give me the worst room at first and why not at least […] give the little dark room an extra bulb? Location was great, staff generally good although when I asked for an iron they gave me one that left gooey black marks on my clothes -- seems like a little more attention to detail would go a long way here. The room was a bit small. I would have preferred a little more space. Because it was a weekend stay, there was no trouble parking otherwise, garages are available for a large fee. The neighborhood is quiet and clean. I would recommend this place to my friends.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was not given the room I reserved and the hotel refused to do anything about it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"loved the location but room was dirty"
I loved the location but there was a lot of room for improvement. My room was tiny but I was okay with that. If I stood on either side of the bed I could not stretch my arm out completely before hitting a wall. The carpet was horribly dirty and my bathroom still had a used bar of soap and razor in the shower.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Avoid this hotel, unless it's all you can afford."
This hotel is not very welcoming. The front desk employee was just flat out rude upon arrival. It took him a while just to acknowledge me standing in front of him, typically at hotels I'm greeted with a smile, not here. Then, we got up to our room, and it was a 2 double bed room. The room was literally only big enough to fit the 2 beds, and a foot […] or 2 to walk around around the beds, it was that bad. My friend and I actually just laughed at the whole experience at this point, we find humor in things when they are just completely awful. Finally, after a late night out on the town, we get back to the hotel and the front desk clerk had setup a recliner and a blanket and was passed out behind the front desk, sleeping.... We got home around 3am, but still quite funny. Finally, I was just interested in getting up for the breakfast in the morning to have a decent meal before getting on the road to head home. We got down to the lobby at 9:30 only to find the the breakfast ended at 9am!! What?! You better get up early if you want to catch the breakfast, usually hotels offer breakfast until 10 or 1030, but this hotel is far from normal. Luckily I was really only here to sleep, otherwise if you want a nice stay in DC at a nice hotel, skip this one. On the bright side, this was the cheapest hotel in the area for the night but still quite expensive. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"PLEASE!! a Decent bed NOT in the basement!!"
We were told that the only king -sized bed was in the basement!! The room was small and had a horable mattress. The location was great though!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small and dark"
We liked the neighborhood for the restaurants and bars, even though the hotel is a good 10 minutes away from the closest subway station, but the room was small and dark, and the breakfast buffet was empty by the time we got to the breakfast room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Small yet convenient"
The Embassy does have small rooms, but I was only using it to sleep in, so it worked great. Minimal interaction with the front desk. Nice safe neighborhood. Clean, no bugs or nothing. No luxuries, but good for what I needed it for.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Small Rooms"
When I viewed the pictures online and booked my room we thought we would get a normal sized room with two queen beds. When we checked in, they only had single beds. Since there were four of us, they did a good job of accommodating us with two rooms for the same price. They were able to get rooms next to each other which was good since we were going […] to put the kids in their own room. The rooms were ridiculously small. The continental breakfast was good quality but very cramped. In general, if you were travelling by yourself or as a couple this hotel could be acceptable for the right price. "Like a European Pension"
I had a very negative first impression of the hotel, but over three days it charmed me.Here is what I hated: when I arrived, the halls stank of cheap chemical cleaner. They smelled like a clean bathroom in a Greyhound bus station. Management: please use a cleaner that is not such a turn-off. "Terrible no exaggeration"
I booked this place online & when I got there, the man at the front desk acted like he didn't want to service me, honestly I don't think he expected me to be African American (he just stared at me before he asked how may I be helped & he put my license and credit card on the table, not in my hand which was held out which is RUDE) I think this hotel […] is supposed to be for vistors from out of states just looking for a place to stay . Anyways, I booked a double bed, my room was a single bed so I went to the front desk & he told me he didn't have any double beds available ... So you don't get what you pay for . Some drawer knobs were missing from the dresser, the mouse to the computer downstairs didn't work, there was no "continental breakfast" like they had said, the cups for Ice or coffee in your room were broken as well . The front desk was rude, said no I cannot help you for everything I asked . Not welcoming at all . Unsure if these things were because of the color of my skin I would hope not though that's how I felt .. But regardless of the color issue, I would not recommend this hotel for ANYONE . Very small rooms, no refrigerator, low price. It's more like a motel. Location is not bad. 10-15 minute walk straight up the street from the white house.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Decent, well-located place"
The hotel is fine, but for what it is, I don't think it is particularly well-priced. Surly man at front desk; tiny, tiny room that was freezing cold except when the jet-engine-sounding-forced-air-heat was on full blast; funky old TV with bad sound system; I asked to be moved to front of hotel to get a large window rendering the room lighter, the surly […] oik said wait until tomorrow. "Small - basic - cheap"
The room we had was very basic, small and crowed. There was barely room to walk around the two beds. "All-around good choice"
I've stayed at the Embassy Inn a couple of times for business trips and would definitely stay here again. The price is very reasonable and the quality of the hotel is decent and comfortable. "Cool Old Building in Neat Neighborhood"
The hotel was great - a bed and breakfast feel to the building, but with the privacy of a hotel. Parking is an issue if you don't know what you're doing. There's a garage just a couple blocks away at 1616 P Street NW. Once you know that, you're good to go.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

These rooms are very very small. But I hadn't come to stay in a room! Theyre clean, the heat worked, there was cable tv and a bathroom (also clean). "Tiny tiny rooms in a friendly neighborhood"
I booked a double room for a friend and I visited DC. Thinking we would each have our own bed, I was looking forward to a comfortable stay. The room had only 1 double bed!!! The concierge said we had to book a "double double room" if we wanted 2 double beds. Never in my life had I heard of anything like this. "A Prison Cell has More Room"
This was not a hotel room - this was a cell from a monastery. The beds butt almost up to the wall, there is no room to walk around at all, the bathroom is so tight that you hit your legs on the toilet trying to get around to the shower. There is only 1 nighlight by the bed in the room - no other lights. There is no desk - only a dresser that also acts […] as the TV stand - if you try to use it as a desk by sitting on the bed, no one can get around. Forget any in-room amenities such as coffee. "great location, but no parking and no clock/radio"
Great location for the price, close to numerous restaurants and Metro station, in a very safe neighborhood. Pastries coffee and OJ for breakfast were a nice convenience too. However there was no parking nearby--not even a reserved space on the curb to pull a car up for unloading--so allot plenty of time to search for parking if you're bringing a vehicle, […] and expect to have to double-park to unload any baggage. Also, there was no radio or alarm clock in my room, and despite my asking for one numerous times over my 3-day stay, none was ever provided. "Great location but dirty"
The positives: This hotel is a good value in a great location. The negatives: The concierge barely looked or spoke to me. I even attempted to prod him with a "good morning". No luck. C'est la vie. The room was dirty and in poor repair. I inspected the mattress, as always, found no life forms but lots of curly hairs. The blinds were dusty and malfunctioning. […] The finial of the lamp was on top of the dresser, the rod for one of the blinds was in the corner of the room, there was no pull for one of the drawers of the dresser, the drain in the shower was slow. I'd stay here again because it's so cheap and convenient but don't get your hopes up. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotels location is very good, with reasonable closest to Metro, many restuarants and a unique neighborhood. However car parking can be an issue. Hotels literature and our phone message indicated $20. a day, but once we arrived they told us it was $30. for a full day, as their brochures were outdated. Their Internet connection and equipment seldom worked. […] In fact, it was barely up at all during our entire 2 1/2 days stay and apparently this is a normal issue/problem. The continental breakfast was minimal at best, with no fruit or any fresh items and the two cereal choices were Cheerios and/or Cheerios. They could have easily done better and with barely any additional expense, on their part. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Avoid this hotel; invest in comfort!"
The only heat in the room came from a plug-in heater that wouldn't cook a hot dog. It took 8-9 minutes for the water to get moderately warm. The front-desk staff do not need to be rapturous in your arrival but they shouldn't act like you're disturbing their research into a cure for cancer. The front desk staff should actually listen when the front doorbell […] ringers so the guest does not stand outside for 5 minutes while it drizzles outside. Finally, I've had cheese crackers that are thicker than the walls between the rooms. Don't make the same mistake that I did, which was reading the other terrible reviews, thinking at least it's cheap and it'll be fine and then disliking my whole stay. "Great hotel - bad parking situation"
The Embassy Inn was a really nice place to stay. Stayed for 1 night after a concert in DC and the room was exactly what we needed for such a short stay. The room and the hotel were cozy and clean. The only bad thing about this hotel is that there is no parking provided by the hotel. There is a parking garage about 2 blocks away, but it's closed between […] midnight and 7am, which is not convenient for us morning people who wake up at 5am and need to leave for work.
