This is the third time I have stayed at the Royal Scot in the past. year. Found it to be an ideal place to stay and the convenience to all amenities very handy. On my next visit to Victoria I will definitely stay here.

Would definitely stay again, wish we had more time to enjoy all the amenities offered...all you would expect from a luxury golf resort & spa.

"Get less than you pay for"
The front desk were friendly and accomodating. The room itself was cold and uninviting. We booked pet friendly and what they dont tell you is that these rooms are in the sub-basement, extremely cold, bare floors and no rugs. We also were travelling with our one year old and it just didnt suit. Holes in the walls, the cover to the radiator was exposed […] across the whole wall (awesome fun for a toddler)! The linens are grotty and old. My niece got locked in the bathroom (just poor construction), the front desk staff had to come get her out (and it didnt even phase him - it had obviously happened before). If you are looking for a place to simply through your head for cheap its fine, but dont plan to stay in the room! Read more
"Workers Stay"
This hotel was definitely a place that traveling workers stay. It was full most of the time. Quiet most nights but we had some loud guests next door a few nights. Internet was good...wished we had flat screen tvs but hopefully that will come later. For the price I would probably stay again and would want to be on the 3rd floor again.
"Very nice."
Nice hotel. Room was very clean and comfortable. The strip club next door isn't super noticeable but does cause a parking problem in the evenings. I would stay here again.

"good hotel and location"
I would recomand this hotel. It has a good price and it is not far from the downtown.
"Strip Club"
The receptionist assured us that their strip club, The Fox, had its own entrance and we'd never know they were there. She was right about that. However, truth be told, if we had known they had a strip club attached to their business, we would not have stayed there.
"Red lion Victoria - great staff"
My wife and I spent two nights in Victoria. The red lion staff was very helpful and informative, and gave us great tips on a scenic drive, whale watching, and restaurants. A short drive from downtown, but no problem if you have a car.
The Red Lion Inn in Victoria while off the beaten tourist path, is very clean and accommodating. I found the staff to be real nice and knowledgable about the surroundings. I recommend the place to anyone.
Upon arrival we were informed that we got complimentary upgrade from regular room to king one bedroom suite which came with full kitchen and plenty of room. It is definitely not a walking distance from downtown but has a free parking. I thought that the staff was very friendly and helpful

This hotel is your basic hotel. Its not extravagant at all, but it is comfortable at a reasonable rate. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite. The suite and hotel was nice and clean. Hotel is convenient to shopping and not far from downtown Victoria. There is a city bus that stops nearby the hotel. So, it is easy to ride the bus (about 15 minutes) from […] the hotel to downtown Victoria if you choose not to drive. There is also a bike path that passes by the hotel. If you bring your bike, you can ride the bike path straight from the hotel to downtown. Overall, I recommend this Red Lion Inn. Read more
affordable, restaurant downstairs for quick meal, nice kitchenette. it's just the elevator is so tiny we'd rather use the stairs to bring all our bags and stuff.(good exercise though if you're not exhausted from trip). the carpet has lots of dark streaks on top of the dark color. kinda scary to walk on our bare feet. location is in between our points […] of interest.. good rates and close to my job.
"nice suite for the money"
we had suite and it was nice with kitchen. Location is not ideal for the city of Victoria and a little nosiy at night since the room facing street
The noise level from the street was really overwhelming and we'll make sure to never stay at this hotel again.
"food"
I would li9ke to see dining with a larger salection of food.
"Needs improvement"
The room (suite) is definitely rather dated in its decor. The bedroom was very small with little space on either side of the bed. Lots of cords and cables on the floor. The bath was okay, even with some garish granite on the walls. Parking is sparce withouthaving to walk a long ways. We used a stairway to go downstairs and outside and the landing in […] front of the door was filthy. It was convenient to downtown, just a short drive. The price was very reasonable but the quality was lacking. Read more
"Great room for the price"
We were upgraded to a full one bedroom suite. The room was huge and very clean. The kitchen came in handy. The hotel is in a great location if you have a car. I would recommend the Red Lion Inn to anyone that wishes to save money and stay in a nice room.
"Good room for money"
Hotel was well situated for the business traveler. Food and shopping nearby and a quick 10 minute drive to downtown. Close parking filled up quickly. Front desk staff was not rude but not friendly. Found maid staff still cleaning hotel room at 330pm when returned from work. (I had left at 7am) There are noises from trucks in the area but that ceases […] at night and doesn't occur too early in the morning. Room and bed was comfortable enough. Single elevator in hotel was small and moved very slowly, taking forever. Overall, pleasant stay and a good price for the money. Read more

"No way close to Red Lion standards"
This hotel is no way close to what we've come to expect from the Red Lion chain. The room was VERY small with a truck loading platform in the back of the parking lot. All night the back up alert on the trucks were sounding. Don't stay here if your going to be spending some time at the Bay area it is at least 5 mi. from it.

"No Complaints Here"
I was expecting a run down hotel in a bad area from the reviews I read here. Quite the opposite. The area looked like any average American commercial zone. There's a nice car dealership across the street. Our room had wood(laminate) floors, a first for me in any hotel. There were no problems with noise or the liquor store located on the same property. […] The hotel is a long way from the tourist area. You will need a rental car. We walked from the waterfront back to the hotel and it took 45 minutes to 1 hour. The bus will cost you $2.50 each way. "Great for the money"
Close to downtown, clean, comfortable room. Much nicer than I expected for the price! The room was a little cramped, with lots of big (but nice) furniture and not much room for bags or a travel crib (which we had for our daughter), but we would definitely stay there again at that price. You can't really walk downtown from this spot, unless you are in […] for quite a hike, but it's a short drive or bus trip to all the shops/restaurants/bars. Read more

Convenient place esp. if you stayed there for more than one night as the room comes with a kitchenette. We only stayed one night thus didn't make use of it. Would go back in a heart beat!
"Average but no smoking"
We picked this hotel because we were guaranteed a smoking room. The room was not like it was pictured on the website and they did not have a smoking room. The staff were friendly the hotel was clean but average
"HORRIBLE!!"
The staff were not friendly at all. The room was dirty. The 'nightclub' below our room was loud and produced physical fights between people at 2 am.... Not at all impressed with this hotel. Find some place else to stay!!!

"what a nice place"
We came in not knowing what to expect and were pleasantly delighted, the staff was polite and helpful. The only issue I had was that thier wi-fi kept going down on me, I went to the desk and informed them, stating I was going to buy an ethernet cable and was offered one, they have ethernet outlets available right in the room. Thanks to the staff for […] making our stay a very pleasant one! Read more
Very clean and comfortable, Rates very reasonalbe, Friendly staff. Sufficient parking. Quiet area. Overall excellent value and I would recommend it to others.
"3336 Douglas st victoria"
this was a good hotel to stay at for a few days. There was a restaurant and liquor store at the bottom of the hotel so I was easy for and so on.....we stayed for a few days....we enjoyed the stay

"Red Lion Inn on Douglas in Victoria BC Canada"
This is a very clean hotel with adequate parking and close proximity for travelling around the area. The reception desk has wonderful people working and are helpful and accommodating. I have stayed there at least five times in the past two months and will stay my next trip. Also the rooms are priced reasonably compared to a lot of others in the city. It […] is on your way to downtown and only about a half hour drive south from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal. Also, they have coffeemakers and fridges in the rooms. Read more
The hotel was great--the 'bar' next door wasn't our favourite place to eat! Convenient location and other sites in Victoria are easily accessible.

"Under Renovations/ crappy long weekend"
I did a search on Hotels.com for a downtown hotel and Red Lion came up in the search. First of all it is not downtown Victoria (about 15min drive). Also when I got to the hotel room it was not clean. The place was being renovated (no mention of that on the site), carpets are old and have an odor. I was afraid to sleep in the bed and customer service […] is non existent. The staff just couldn't care less. You are staying in a low rise Inn beside a very loud night club "V" and a strip club called "The Fox". I could say more but what is the point... the place is nothing like the Red Lion hotels in the US. This is a 1 star inn and it feels like it. Also first and last time I will book through Hotelsdotcom much happier with their competitors who will remain nameless. Read more
