I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It is conveniently located to the beach, shops, restaurants and has a fantastic view of the ocean. I spent 4 nights at this nice place. The service was great and the view from the pool area was excellent. A couple minute walk to the beach but not a big deal. The price was definitely fair and the people would go out of their way to help if needed. I will definitely come back again...but next time ill get the all inclusive deal.

We had an amazing week at Best Western Tamarindo Vista Villas. It is not a 5 star hotel (rooms could be a bit updated) however it is very clean and has a friendly staff, beautifully maintained pool with swim up bar and is steps from the beach! We loved our stay! What a great trip.

Our family spent Xmas vacation there and had the best time ever! Kids surfed and we enjoyed the beautiful beaches. Tours and horseback riding kept us busy when we felt like it. The hotel was just ok because we didn't spend much of the time in the room since we spent most of the time at the beach or eating out. The beach is just across the street, which was very convenient. Dont go to costa rica expecting the best westerns to look like the ones in America. It was my boyfriend and I's first time in Tamarindo and the Hotel was just a short walk from all the shops and tours and main street not too mention the beach access is located right in front of the hotel. The pool and bar are the best part and we spent a whole day lounging there and at the swim up bar. I did mention the hotel is better for young adults and couples due to the fact that on the weekends the monkey bar is one of the most popular bar/clubs on the weekend. We had a blast with the live band and dj but for a family with young kid, the music blasting till 3am might not be as fun. The people here were very accommodating and excellent with guests. The walls of the hotel are very thin which is the only bad thing I can say. The location is great. The room had a kitchen. The price is good. But this is an older hotel, with all the signs of age. The staff is very friendly. The online description states "ocean view" but this is not an ocean view from the rooms. Also, the wireless connection was very weak. We could only get access on the patio, not in the room.

First off - Fernando, Javier and Maria were great. And Trevor was super nice. I went to check in and got an upgrade - epic. My room had an ocean view that was super. The pool and bar area were nice. The free breakfast was fine. Close to all the good shops and spots. Lots of bugs around - use repellant. Not a lot of pots and pans in the room - but enough to cook. The hotel is old (the first in Tamarindo I was told) so don't expect the Ritz - but the staff works hard to keep the place up. Overall our stay was ok, but the bed was squeaky and uncomfortable, the air conditioner was louder than it should have been, and the in-room safe was out of order. The description makes it sound like there are washers/dryers in the room, which was not true. You could pay $10 a load to have the hotel staff wash your clothes for you.

The hotel is a good location, the service was OK, but then again we went in the off season when they were probably a little understaffed. The breakfast wasn't that good either. The hotel itself is very nice, great view and really close to everything. It was a good overall experience and I would definitely stay there again.

My friend and i stayed here for a post college graduation trip. Great value for people on a budget-- the rooms were very spacious and the included breakfast was always great to have (one less meal to pay for).The staff was friendly and helped us plan all our activities/transportation. The Best Western in Tamarindo was not the best. The room was small and the internet only worked in the pool area not in the room at all. The price should have been about 1/2 what it was. The continental breakfast followed suit and was mediocre.

You can do a lot worse in Tamarindo due to the petty theft element but that happens everywhere. We arrived and were welcomed to our room after a long drive from Arenal. We started with delicious Mahi Mahi in the restaurant, a spacious and nice room. The service is great and the beach is just across the street, the main town is 3 short blocks away. Karina at the front desk was extra helpful in helping us find a rent a car.

The Vista Villas were definitely not a 5 or even a four star hotel. I would give it three stars. It was simple and turned out to be a great place to spend four nights! The ocean view was great! The restaurant food and the bar were good. And the service was very good! This area is great if one is into the beach and surfing. I will be back!
