"Fabulous Experience! Beautiful Hotel!"
I was so pleased with my stay at the Nob Hill Hotel. Didn't know what to expect, as sometimes older hotels can be hit or miss. Our bedroom has a jacuzzi in it! (Surprise! Bonus!) Newly re-tiled and upgraded shower and bathroom. Lovely sitting room over-looking the street-life. And was able to park on the street for free. Can't wait to go back. And LOVE […] the purple decor scheme in the lobby. Fab furniture everywhere! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Hotel is over done in my opinion and is overly ornate for no good reason Less is more . The Gym was adequate but not enough towels and no antiseptic wipes to clean the machines after use the floor should be mopped daily also to stop the spread of fungal infections.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nob Hill Hotel"
Waited one hour for valet parking, $32.00. Reserved queen bed online, but received double. Hotel would not give back $10.00 difference. Hotel ad said rooms had fridge, but no fridge. Room was tiny! Had to walk sideways! But it was charming! Enjoyed hotel, but not the service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything in the room was broken. No faucethead. Shower head didn't work. Cracks in the tub with mold. The front desk were really rude and not welcoming. Beds were ok, but they were wobbly and felt like they would fall apart. Don't use valet parking, my umbrella went missing afterwards.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fine selection for a budget price"
My wife and I live in SF and needed a place to stay due to overnight construction on our street. We booked last minute and enjoyed our room and stay. So this place isn't in the greatest location in SF but it isn't the worst. It isn't a super fancy place but found it to be comfortable with a bit of wear around the edges. The staff was very friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old SF, Dash of Fun, Good Value"
This is a small, old, typical architecture for its day SF hotel. Any stay in an old, big city (NY, Chicago, SF) is not like LA or Orlando. Parking prices are high, driving not for the faint of heart. Yet SF is unique in the world. This hotel is kept up well. Staff is helpful and courteous, willing to help. The breakfast is not warm and very limited. […] Small rooms-of course, that's how they built them then. Light fixtures and lamps, bed frame, furniture, wall paper-enough antiques or reproductions u think ur in a time capsule. Fun old elevator. 2 blk walk to CA St cable car, buy a muni pass at the store around the corner, parking at garage very reasonable 4 24 hr. Not 4 the Hilton crowd; great location, bath cramped but well appointed, overall very good price, fun dash of old SF. I will look to stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"small room but quite close location to downtown"
1.Room was very small, 2.Very close to downtown, 3. neighborhood is little oddGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I spent one night here on a business trip. The service was good here. I had a room facing the street so it got cold. They had run out of room heaters and the whole hotel is on central heating/air system but gave me 2 thick blankets and I was good for the night. Elevator is old-school with a cross-hatch gate which can be annoying if you have a lot of […] luggage. Room is big enough for one and bathroom was small and quaint. I liked it. Breakfast is continental, simple. Great for if you're looking for a place to sleep which is what a hotel is for anyway. Cool Location but can be a little sketchy at night. Just be aware of your surroundings and you should be good. :-) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Fun, clean, and convenient"
We made an unexpected stop just for fun in San Francisco. We looked online and were surprised to find such a reasonably priced hotel in such a convenient location for a day of sightseeing. Granted the pics of the hotel were a bit grander than the reality, but it was cute, fun and clean and the staff were super nice. We got the cheapest room they had […] and the room was absolutely miniscule, but for $95 we just laughed and had a great night's sleep! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, staff was friendly."
This hotel is old and the rooms are small, that didn't bother us. It was clean and the bath room was nice and clean. The room had old world charm, I thought the carpet needed to be changed out with a new one. The breakfast that was included was just cereal and toast, I think they could offered some other choices. The only bad thing was parking you could […] park on the street and use the meter, or they had a garage a couple of streets away you could park for a price. Over all it was a nice enough stay. "Nice old time San Francisco"
We had business in town and stayed one night. The check in was friendly and there was a wine and cheese reception. We had water in the refrigerator, a room attendant came and emptied it but spilled it on the carpet, so the carpet was wet. The rest of the hotel was nice. Enjoyed the decor and the ambiance. Did not like the check out. The gentleman checking […] out was rude and took a reservation with about 6-7 guests waiting to be checked out. Should have had at least two persons doing check out. Overall pleasant except for cost of parking and checkout. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Maybe old - but fun!"
If you are looking for a boring, run-of-the-mill hotel room this place is NOT for you. From the purple chandelier at the entrance; the original bouncy elevator; slightly titled hallway to the lamp in the bathroom, this hotel is certainly eclectic and fun! We stayed in a queen size room to the back of the hotel overlooking some gardens. It was quiet […] (considering you are in a city) and clean. Some may complain the room was small, but we spent most of our time out and about in San Francisco. The room was certainly adequate for sleeping in! There is no AC in the rooms, but we opened the windows and the room was very pleasant when we returned in the evening. We took advantage of the valet parking (tip: larger vehicles cost more) and it can take up to 20 or 30 minutes to get your car so be prepared. Breakfast was adequate (bread, cereal, pastries and some fruit). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Paper thin walls"
good: Hotel was very nice, old/historic feel, clean, comfortable bed, friendly staff, great location, good value... Bad: very thin walls resulted in a difficult sleeping situation. as soon as we walked into the room we could hear the room next door's TV as if it was in our room. we faced the inner courtyard so all sounds outside seemed to be echoed […] and amplified into our room... and since the location is so wonderfully close to the heart of downtown, there was no shortage of noise. a pity because this really is a wonderful old hotel in a great location. "HOT HOT HOT (and not in the good way)"
Had no idea I would need to check to see if a hotel had AC. Well, this one didn't and San Francisco had record highs during my stay. Room was on the 4th floor, where heat rises, and the window opened out onto a bricked in area that retained the heat. It was unbearably hot. Added to that, the sheets were at least 40 years old, room was dirty, and bathroom […] was small. Only plus about this hotel was the cool old elevator. That's it. Even tho I had prepaid, I left the next morning for a hotel with Air Conditioning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Wouldn't stay here for a vacation, but for an overnight business trip where all you need is a comfy bed, this was fine. The highlights - restaurant downstairs (though tiny) had good italian food. Continental breakfast was okay, convenient. The staff was friendly. The negatives - furnishings apart from the lobby were stained and in poor repair. The carpet […] in my room seriously needed to be replaced - it was massively stained. Fan (in 80 degree weather) didn't work - came apart at first touch. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Amazing hotel, beautiful room, great location. Great staff! Only issue I had was a difficulty in finding/ reaching a power outlet in my room. This is ironic, because I had forgotten my phone charger and they lent me one for the night. Once again, amazing place!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice neighborhood, bad wi-fi"
The neighborhood is really nice but avoid walking 2-3 blocks south. That area is pretty ghetto. It is an old hotel but still really nice. I LOVED the decor in my room and bathroom. It was very victorian but still had most of the current technology for AC, lighting and ventilation. From my room I could see right into some other rooms if the windows were […] open which was a little strange. "Affordable hotel close to all sightseeings"
The room we had was very very small, almost inacceptable for two persons with luggage. We stayed two nights. The bathroom was cleaned on the first day, but the bed was not made. Got a good deal on a a room nearly last minute. Chose to take advantage of the hotel Valet parking at $36 a night. arrived and had to call the hotel to figure out the Valet. No one was there. Tried to find street parking. Fail. Waited out front. Called again, finally got through. Hotel staff were unable to provide any helpful information about the […] surrounding area. We made do, but it's nice to bounce some ideas off of the front desk when looking for a quick bite, or place for a drink or a tour recommendation. Our room was pretty small. Not the biggest deal, as we were out and about, but smaller than expected. The bed was not very comfortable either. When we left, we forgot to call ahead for the Valet. They estimated 20 minutes. More likely 40 minutes. While we were waiting, we got to hear the doorman talking on the house phone, complaining about the job and how he could obviously do better. No. We will not be staying again. "Cute, but not my favorite."
The receptionists were terrible. Both of the two people that worked the desk were unwelcoming. I felt as if I was and an inconvenience to them. The location was okay a bit of a walk (20) mins to get to Market St. but there were other small places to eat that were closer. The hotel was cute and had class probably back in the day, but could use some touch-up […] here and there. The room was SUPER TINY!! I almost asked to be switched but we were only staying one night so I said it's alright. Would not stay there again unless they got a new staff. I had better customer service at a Coldstone ice cream parlor than at this place. Oh! CHECK-INS AT 3:00PM NO EARLY CHECK-INS we got there at 1 and had to go kill time. This is one of my "go to" hotels when I stay in San Francisco (on a tight budget). Each of the rooms is unique with a Victorian theme. Some of the rooms are pleasant and some have issues. (Room 200 is a converted closet in which I could hear, without any difficulty, the guy next door snoring. Another room with two canopy beds had a smell that lingered […] with all my belongings after I checked out.). I stay here nonetheless, because it is quaint and there is usually availability at a reasonable price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wild variation in rooms"
Prepaid three nights on Expedia and was put into a decent room resembling the picture advertising the hotel - French ornate. For some reason I was checked out after night two and someone else was put into my room. I had no luggage since I was only using it to sleep and the cleaner apparently said I was a no show. They put me into another room which […] was extremely small with filthy carpet and no decor at all, not even a closet or wardrobe, just dirty white walls. I slept fully clothed that night. Obviously it was cheap but I was offered no rebate for their mistake. Weird hotel behavior and would not risk getting a room like that again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Boutique Near Everything"
The valet service leaves much to be desired. I drove an SUV and was informed that there exhorbinate charge would be 25% higher. In the meantime, no one meets you at the car to load luggage or take keys, or even help park. Some of the clerks were more helpful than others, some very good. The last one was full of info-wish he had been there the first […] day. No a.c. in the room, not a real surprise, but my wife likes it to be sub-zero, which doesn't happen. But it was cold outside, so most people would be happy. We did not try the wine that was free in the lobby during happy hour, but the lobby was inviting and it is a real nice touch. If they had had a real valet, I would not have had such a poor initial impression, and the score would have been higher. I would stay again and recommend it to others. "Fantastic Staff, Nice Rooms, Convenient Location"
The rooms were wonderful, especially considering the cost. The walls on my second night were a bit thin, but not a major issue. All the staff I interacted with at the hotel were absolutely fantastic...attentive, kind and flexible. A+ Location is incredibly convenient and central to a lot of key neighborhoods in the city. "Lots of character but watch for hidden costs"
The hotel's historic decor was appealing, but our first room on the top floor was extremely small, very hot at night (in March) even with the windows open, and the bathroom was extremely dark due to having only one antique ceiling light. I asked to switch and the second room was a tremendous improvement - much more spacious and well lit, with better […] climate control. The rooms were very clean, although vintage. Front desk service varies depending on who is working it. Watch out for their hidden parking fees. We used a garage around the corner and saved a lot of money. The "continental" breakfast was very disappointing, offering only two choices of dried cereal, toast, and store bought danish. Their antique elevator has a sliding grate, which was cool. May be okay for a couple's romantic weekend getaway, but not ideal for a family vacation. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"San Francisco spring break 2014"
Nice hotel. Very well located (walking distance from the trolley). Staff is a plus - always ready to help. Nice restaurant with excellent Italian food. Far from bad neighborhoods although you can see some homeless in the adjacent streets (as in many other parts of the city). I will definitively would go back again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great central location"
The stay was okay, the staff was very helpful when purchasing tour tickets etc. my biggest complaint would be the continential breakfast, not many options and no protein. The hotel was in a good location, within walking distance to many places. The building was beautiful, decor was nice and wine and cheese from 5:30 to 7 pm was nice as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the Hotel. Great rooms! Extremely comfortable bed! I slept like a log. Historically beautiful, great location, wonderful Italian restaurant right next door, and the free wine and cheese in the lobby during evening hours was a wonderful touch. I would definitely stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
It's an amazing hotel with lots of strange things, like a manual door to the elevator and my room was on the roof across a rooftop garden. The breakfast was pitiful for such a nice place, but everything else was amazing so I didn't care. It was a great old building with a fun vibe to it. Loved the luxurious room, which had a hot tub, a chandelier, and […] real art in the bedroom and a stained glass window in the bathroom along with a spacious (and upgraded from the original) shower. There was a view of some of the city from the top floor room, which was really cool, though the view didn't include any of the famous sites in SF which some people might be disappointed by, but I think that it was a cool view. The hotel is located on Nob Hill (hence the name) and visitors should note that it's on a hill, which means a steep walk to sites around the city and a wrong turn will take you into the Tenderloin, which is not someplace tourists would want to go. "Well worth it on a good deal"
Keeping in mind that just about all of San Francisco's neighborhoods are enjoyable for spending time in and nothing is too far away, this hotel can be considered to be in a nice location. It's not a particularly vibrant area for tourists nor close to any specifically popular attractions. The interior is quite nice and pretty ornate, but there are little […] blemishes here and there that might bother some. With a really good deal on price, like among San Francisco's other lower range hotels, this place is excellent--they offer a lot of amenities in a nice enough area and it is very pleasant and comfortable; I loved it way more than any cheap place. But I was shocked when I saw rates posted at more than twice what I paid. I loved the place but I would have been very disappointed if I had paid that much more. "Nice Hotel close to Union Square."
Had a nice experience in this Hotel. Checked-in mid evening, the receptionist was Nice, friendly, and was helpful with the questions asked. This hotel has a old 1920s-ish feel to it. Was nice, something new I haven't experienced before. A nice little amenity in the hotel was they offer complimentary wine in at their lobby. The room was an experience, […] for sure, there were some old portraits on the walls. A bit freaky when you see them because normally the first thing you think about is all the horror movies where the person in the portrait is looking at you, but I digress. Other than that, the room was comfy. Our bathroom was surprisingly really nice. One thing though about our room... is that it was pretty dark. Even in the morning seem a bit dark. But no biggie. The staff seemed a little under qualified in every position. I called down to the front desk 5 times before i got someone to answer.
