The room was a good value for the price, small but clean. The front desk staff was always helpful. The noise at night made sleeping difficult but not impossible. The location was perfect for shopping and seeing the sights.

NOTE: These rooms are very small. Excellent location, clean. But if you are continuing your stay, they are slow to clean the rooms - once it was nearly 5pm before cleaning.

Room small with no place to put 1 suitcase, let alone 2 suitcases. No drawers to put things, short on storage and pillows. Bed fine and clean. Good shower and hot water. Wifi not free or in room.

Great location, but this is the only positive thing I can say. The mattress could not have been over 3 inches thick and was like sleeping on a board. The carpet was so stained and worn I was uncomfortable in bare feet. Unless they do some serious work on the interior, I would never recommend this hotel.

This was a clean and convenientently located hotel at a good price, but no frills or perks. Just a basic clean comfortable room. Right on the royal mile, easy walks to Edinburgh castle, or Hollyrood and many other tours and gift shops. Also easy walks to numerous restaurants and stores. The room was small, but clean, and the bed was comfortable.

Great hotel to stay in offering superb value. Breakfast was extra but for the price was well worth it. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Rooms are better than some Ibis's I've stayed in before. The only shortfall was that there is no free wifi internet offered with the room.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay, overall the staff are friendly and the location is incredible. The only down side was that while our room was being tidied twice a day, our sheets were never changed and only half of the towels were were washed and replaced.

The position of the hotel is very convenient and close to all the sights. The problem is if you have a car. I was misled into thinking there was parking available and this was not the case. The parking is 15 minutes walk away in an expensive multistorey carpark. The reduction offered is only 20% and your car is left there overnight with no sign of supervision. […] The hotel staff weren't too helpful on this and what is worse is that they said you don't get parking in the hotels in this part of town. However in the nearby Grassmarket the hotels offer parking so this isn't true. Besides this the hotel quality is not as high as an equivalent Ibis in Germany and there were details like not enough toilet paper in the room which were not up to scratch. I would not stay there again especially after hearing that my colleagues in other hotels didn't have the same issues. On the bright side though the city was really great and we really enjoyed the whole atmosphere as well as the places to visit. Read more

This hotel has a great location but it's basic. There's little in the way of toiletries etc so bring your own. The walls are paper think so expect to hear full conversations from your neighbours. Having said that, the staff were friendly enough and the breakfast is reasonable. Good location but a bit pricey for what you get.

We were pleasantly surprised especially by the helpfulness of the staff. We had our dog with us, but were still allowed in the bar areas & not confined to our room. Also, even though there was no room service, a member of staff helped me take our evening meal to our room.
