"Hotel St Christophe, Aix-en- Provence"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Mar 30, 2012
The great advantage of the hotel is its wonderfully central position, close to the beautiful Cours Mirabeau, shops and restaurants and the bus station at which coaches from the TGV station and Marseille airport arrive. The rooms are quiet, fairly comfortable but not luxurious and dinner is reasonably priced. However, we thought that breakfast was overpriced.and better bargains were to be had in the nearby Flunch and the local cafes.
"Nice hotel & very close to Aix En Provence TGV"Reviewed by Ant E of "North London, UK" on Mar 29, 2012
If you need a hotel close to the TGV station look no further, this one is ideal Very friendly staff, very clean & tidy hotel. The outdoor seating area is a great place to sit & relax where you will only be disturbed by birdsong. The bedroom was what I'd expect, clean, double bed, bathroom & tv. No tea/coffee making facilities but thats not a problem when there is a restaurant downstairs The restaurant serves a good choice of food, more biased towards fine dining than fast-food, but thats not a bad thing. Good location for business travellers but not sure it would appeal to families with young children as you would need to drive into Aix to find something to keep them entertained. Having said that, Aix is only a 20 minute drive away & well worth a visit. Icing on the cake was that the manager gave me a lift to the station rather than having to book a taxi. If I'm ever in that part of France again I would happily stay at the same hotel.

"Hotel de Rome Marseille - close to Old Port"
The Hotel was basically comfortable and well situated being about 15 mins walk from the Station. Furniture was slightly tired but the bed was comfortable and everthing was very clean. Difficult to get more than one person with luggage into the lift at a time Small fruit/veg market round the corner plus excellent Patisserie if you don't take breakfast […] at the hotel. Read more
"A character hotel in an excellent location"
Good service in an excellent location in a slightly antiquated building - it has character! Definitely recommended.

"Do not stay!"
This hotel was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. We were worried that the hotel bed linen had never been changed from the previous visitors as the bed linen was creased and the pillows remained in the same place. The toilet was dirty and the room was unwelcoming. The TV did not work. Although it shows you pictures of the hotel, there was very […] little atmosphere. it seemed the staff were aware of the problems but were unable to do anything about it. This could be a beautiful hotel but needs updating. I would not recommend that anyone stay until it is modernised. Read more
"Hotel de Rome et de St Pierre"
Very central, old fashioned hotel, well placed and convenient for everything. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We found our room cramped because the furniture was too big - the wardrobe has a squeaky door which was annoying but it had a good view out the front of the hotel on to the street below. The bathroom was fully functioning but needed […] upgrading. Overall it was a pleasant stay. Read more
This hotel does not live up to the photos on the website which were very misleading. The rooms are very shabby and run down and the carpet filthy. Our shower screen fell off and the whole place needed to be updated. The rooms had been painted and that was the end of the renovations. Not a very welcoming or comfortable, clean environment. Thankfully […] the sheets were clean. We would not recommend this hotel apart from its location close to the harbour, it was not value for money and there is no excuse for lack of cleanliness. "Room near La Canebiere"
The hotel was well-located, not far from the main street in Marseille, which led down to the Vieux Port (10 minute walk or so). The market nearby (at Noailles) had plenty to offer, with fresh foods and lots of Moroccan/ Turkish food. Room was lovely, with coloured wallpaper, and a decent sized bathtub. Window view from the top floor was pleasant. Would […] stay here again in a heartbeat. Read more
"Hotel de Rome et de Sainte Pierre"
Location location location, yes if you want to be very central this is for you however this hotel is sadly in dire need of a makeover. The room although very spacious smelled dank and musty and the rooms were only cleaned once during the four nights we stayed. We keeped the windows open day and night to air the room. We also had to ask for our towels […] to be changed. Not good for the number of stars. Read more
"dissapointing"
Unfortunately the only good thing about this Hotel is its location. It is les than 5 mins walk to the port. However, this does not make up for the dissappointing qulity of the hotel. The rooms are small ad not fantastically clean. I booked a single room. The first room I was allocated to was tiny. It was a twin rom that barely had any standing space. […] The second room was again a twin room but was larger. However, the windows were blocked by a ventilation unit- so you couldn't open them and there was definately no natural light coming into the room. My friends were also taying the same hotel and again their rooms were disappointing. The bathrooms did't have shower units- but had a shower attachment on the bath tub taps. Read more
"Dirty, linen and furniture need change"
We stayed 4 nights. Booked through Internet. Pictures are very misleading. The bathroom was in bad condition. No wonder why there are no pictures on the Internet. Free Internet, good location, At a walking distance from metro station, very poor breakfast. I would NOT go back again.
"Central Quirk"
My girlfriend and I absolutely loved this place. It had the quirky charm of a hotel that you might imagine as a traditional French city hotel, something from an old movie - but it was very well maintained, modern inside and clean. Additionally, it was ideally situated, being 5-10 minutes walk down the main street to the old port, and next door to lots […] of shops and restaurants. We thoroughly recommend it! Read more
"Nice, centrally located hotel"
I was very pleased with this hotel: it is very central, my room was big, handsome space with high cieling and comfortable, clean bed. Bathroom was well kept and clean though not one of the newest in decoration. Double claced window kept the noise of the busy streets below well abay. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. The […] only real minus is the high price of wi-fi internet connection. I recommend this hotel for people staying in Marseille for a short time and needing to be centrally located. Read more
"Location vs Expectation"
Definately not a 3.5 star hotel, 2 stars - maybe, but the location is great for walking and seeing the area near the docks. Rooms are old, out of date, windows are a drawback for the 18th century so are the latches and drapes, I could hear the occupant next door belching constantly. If you are looking for a place to sleep for a while and party out of... […] go for it, otherwise pay more and get more. The staff there spoke english and the recetionist was very helpful with the area and reccomendations. I do niot reccommend this hotel. Read more
Nice area, next to the Old Port, walking distance to most interesting cites. Air conditioning works, but Internet only in the evenings, and abruptly disconnects you after an hour (total) has expired. In order to log back on you need to get another log-in and password. But the location is perfect, the rooms are good and the amenities are fine. Breakfast […] is also good. Read more
"Good hotel close to the action"
Not at all modernized, the hotel is charming, friendly and comfortable. The rooms are large, even if the lift is not! About 10 minutes walk from train station and even less to the Old Port, the location is ideal.

"Hotel de Rome et de Sainte Pierre"
This is a very old hotel in Marseilles. The town intself has many less than desirable areas and this hotel bordered on those. It was close to the market (Arab) and to other sites of interest. The building itself is old but fairly well maintained. The rooms were large with decent bathrooms. All was clean, some wear on carpets etc. Overall, it is worth […] the price we paid. If going to Marseilles (which I would not recommend for more than one night) it would be fine to stay there. Read more
"Great, inexpensive choice is nice location"
Old European charm! Very glad we stayed here. Walking distance from the train station and the old port. Just be prepared to walk up lots of staris to yoru room.
"Only if you're desperate"
Good locaiton but the hotel was poorly maintained and everything from the TV to the air conditioner (which did not work) was very old. And no internet connection in the room, which to me is unacceptable these days.

Dyr frokost. Men hyggelig nok ellers.
Read more

Personnel […] très agréable Read more
