Bay Park Hotel - Monterey

this was a really nice spot to stay. Close to all of the Monterey attractions without being right in town. Beds were really comfortable and stay was great. The Whole Foods next door was great for wine/snacks.

My issue with the hotel was that the restaurant was closed for remodeling and we were not made aware of this when booking the room. The main reason I picked this hotel over another was because it had a restaurant in it. Have stayed here many times in past and returned annually, but was disappointed this time. The room was malodorous; front desk offered another room, but it wasn't any better. May have been due to remodeling and construction. When "neighbors" in room next door returned to their own room at 2 AM yelling and hitting walls, front desk did not answer the […] phone on two separate attempts. Almost called local police when said neighbors attempted to open our door instead of their own. This trip may have been an aberration, but am unsure about future visits. We had a room that was right behind a gas station and it was very noisy. The window curtain was not adequate and the light from said gas station lit up our room all night. On the positive side, the registration process and all other staff related events were very helpful and cheerful. The room was in need of remodeling but was very clean.

We enjoyed it very much,the weather was a beautiful ! The only complaint was I wish the shower pressure was stronger.This was my second stay within 3 weeks and we had another room with same issue.Everything else was fine!

Check-in was quick and hotel staff were very friendly. The hotel does not have an elevator, and the restaurant is closed except for the free continental breakfast for hotel guests. The jacuzzi looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while (found a ring in there with calcium deposits growing on it!), and the pet-potty area had not been cleaned in a very […] long time! The room was comfortable and CLEAN, but the bed was very wiggly and the pillows were of poor quality. The hotel IS pet-friendly; however, Hotels.com gave me incorrect info regarding the pet fee, so I was shocked at check-out when the hotel gave me the REAL price for having my pets stay with me! But the hotel did offer to credit me part of the pet fee, even though it was not their fault for Hotels.com giving me wrong info. I will likely stay at Bay Park Hotel again. Read more

The room was very clean. The bed was not all that comfortable. Bed seemed out of sync with the quality of the room. Felt like they needed to replace the mattress. Shared a room with my daughter and she said the same about her bed.

Good location, clean, with accommodating staff. It's a nicely kept hotel comparable to Fairfield Inn, Holiday Inn, etc. No breakfast included, but 10% off at the restaurant if you don't want to try some of the good places nearby in Monterey.

The staff was very friendly, and greeted me politely from the first minute. However, be warned, this is more of a motel than a hotel. There is a gas station on the corner within the vicinity of the motel. I encountered several homeless people who were drunk and harassing. This made me realize why there were 3 locks on the doors. The carpeting was sticky […] as well as the furniture. The area where there are stairs to the different floors looks like it has been urination stains. Then when trying to go to bed, there were several loud confrontations out between the hotel and gas station. Probably between staff, and the homeless. We have stayed here before and the rooms were better. On this trip our room was disappointing, the queen bed was smaller than a queen and the pillows were awful! On the other hand; we forgot an item after checkout and housekeeping found it and mailed it too us quickly.

This is not a "hotel." it is a motel. We were expecting more of a hotel environment, instead. However, it was nice and very clean (except for the bedspread). It was by far not the worst place we've stayed at.....hotels along the highways are far worse. The hotel allows and encourages smoking in corridors, immediately outside nonsmoking guest rooms. I believe this is in direct violation of Monterey City Code. Hotel has seen its better days. A cheap motel offers more. This hotel is pet friendly so be prepared to hear barking dogs. Slamming doors and toilets flushing kept us awake through the night. The rugs were dirty and there is no free breakfast here. I won't stay here again.
