"Great choice!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Price and location were right. Grounds and maintainance inside and out were above average....flowers blooming everywhere! Front desk friendly and efficient. Room spacious and well appointed with 2 Q beds and new, big, flat screen TV (room 301). Towels were not lush, but there were 4 of them, so no issues!

"Good mid-price choice"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
This is a good choice if North Vancouver is your destination. Lots of shopping and eating in the market below the hotel, which is also where the parking is located. The more upscale and higher priced rooms get you further out towards the water, which can be worth it in terms of quiet and view.
"2 nights in Vancouver."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Hotel was very clean and new. Hotel is in middle of Chinatown so you won't see many chain restaurants or food other than very traditional Asian.

"Great value in Burnaby"
I stayed there for a week. Even though its not in the heart of Vancouver, the location is good enough. It has eat-outs, some stores and bus stops within walking distance. The wi-fi was great. Service and conditions were excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast is just a simple selection of donuts, muffins, etc., Overall, […] I recommend this place very much. "Happy Day Inn in Burnaby, BC"
The stay was very nice and comfortable. The staff very pleasant and full of knowledge about restaurants, places to go and visit and even weather. Meeting room was very nice and the room was cold, and when reported to the staff, they came and fixed the problem. Coffee and tea was supplied. All in all the stay was excellent and we are thinking of coming […] back for another retreat. A big THANK YOU to the staff from us. The Inn is situated near restaurants and bus stop and it is easy to travel to the sky train and then to other destinations from there. Continental breakfast was served and was very good. Read more
"Close to airport"

"Good friendly cheap motel near Vancouver"
This small motel is a little less expensive than the more well known chains near Vancouver. It is cheap so you have to expect a lower quality place. However, it was clean, safe, and the staff was VERY friendly and helpful. We had a small problem with our room and they quickly switched us to a better one. The morning continental breakfast was ok. The […] motel seems family owned and they are super friendly and helpful, providing directions and suggestions to locations. Relatively short drive to Vancouver. Read more

"Happy Day Inn Burnaby"
The motel is situated in an area which is not that great. We smelled marijana etc. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, but we did smel drugs in the hallway at night.
"Decent motel, nice surroundings"
OK for a traveler, close to Hell's Gate.
"Happy Day Inn Burnaby"
Not a great neighborhood and only had first floor available. Road noise throughout night. Did not get much sleep. Room was clean but that is about all it had going for it. Remote for TV did not work. Ice machine was very anemic. Complimentary breakfast was a donut with coffee and orange juice. The hotel did have what it said but in the smallest possible […] way. Little ice machine, internet access was one computer in lobby. Would not stay there again. Read more
"Happy Day Inn - Burnaby, Vancouver"
For the price, the hotel lived up to our expectations. If you are on a budget holiday, then you will be happy with a roof over your head, a comfy bed, a kitchenette and clean bathroom facilities. In our experience the downside to the hotel was that the laundry was out of order, the fridge in the kitchen was very noisy and our room was next to the main […] road, therefore there was constant traffic noise, police sirens, fire engine sirens, or other guests making a lot of noise. Also, if you hang the 'DO NOT DISTURB' sign on your door, NO-ONE takes any notice and clean your room, make the bed etc anyway (if you are out). We always padlocked our bags when we went out, but be warned if you think no one will go in, THEY WILL!! (I am sure they mean well... I was just annoyed that we put the do not disturb sign, and they still went in). The breakfast consists of coffee or tea and a selection of doughnuts or muffins that are put in a sealed container in the lobby every morning. In our experience every morning these were fresh and we were happy to have any breakfast included in the price. We did enjoy our stay, and for the price of the room with a kitchenette we were happy. It is in an ideal location for public transport, as the 106 bus passes straight past the motel. You can either take the 106 bus to the right which links to the sky-train etc, or the 106 bus to the left which we found handy to nip down the road to a supermarket, fast food, cafes and a smallish shopping mall (on the same road as the motel). The only other complaint with the motel, was that 3 of the 4 staff members we encountered were not very talkative/enthusiastic and sometimes quite awkward which was a bit of a disappointment...to be greeted in Canada with such unenthusiastic people. However, 1 staff member, we met during the end of our stay was very talkative, friendly and helpful, which made up for the others. Read more
"Cost effective"
You get exactly what you pay for which ain't much
"It was an ok Hotel"
we stayed for two days ...when asked for some towels from the receptionist they answered that we will provide it to you tomorrow since the housekeeping already left!! The breakfast is just muffin and bagels and some fruits so its not a breakfast at all!! overall , I will not go back because of the service. Seen better hotels for the same price
"Not such a Happy Day..."
The hotel;s "night-time" desk attendants were quite rude, and often stand offish. It seems as though they may have a problem with General English Comprehension. Simple questions for help were often met with a confrontational attitude (very sad). The hotel is attempting to improve it's image, but generally the atmosphere of the place is one that attracts […] less than desirable types of people. I would describe some of the conversations that could be clearly heard through the hotels thin walls, but Hotels.com doesn't allow the posting of "reports of certain activity". Read more
"Car broken in and hotel Surveillance Camera BUSTED"
If you value your car and everything in it, DO NOT EVEN THINK OF BOOKING at HAPPY DAY INN. Even worse is that their surveillance camera for the underground parking was busted. All other cameras in other locations were working except the underground parking. You'd think, really ???Were they helpful? Only on calling the police. What did the front desk […] staff say about the incident. NOTHING really, just 'let call the police'. We even had to ask for someone to clean up the broken window glass. Instead of staying for another night, we decided to check-out and live for home. What - another night to park at the hotel? The staff I talked to did not even know what happened that morning. Truly a NIGHTMARE. Read more
"Very Good Hotel"
We come to Vancouver several times per year and we always stay at the Happy Days Inn. Happy Days Inn is very convenient to everything and the staff are wonderful. The rates are also a big factor for staying at the Happy Days Inn. The rooms are bright and very clean. We would recommend the Happy Days Inn to anyone.
"UNHAPPY DAY INN"
1. Customer Service is non-existant. I've actually had the front desk tell me bold face lies to cover up their lack of adequate services or knowledge. 2. Room conditions could be much better. The smell in most rooms is pungent to say the least. 3. Not set up in the best part of town. Sirens all the time. 4. Noise levels from other rooms are too high […] (several explicit sounds have been heard coming from above and adjoining rooms). 5. Have notice several less than desirable people rooming in the establishment. Motel seems to be the wam-bam-no thank you ma'am type of establishment. Read more
"Happy Day Inn Burnaby - Bed Bugs"
Aside from the good location close to bus routes and sky train there is nothing else worth saying about this place. They have BED BUGS and it smells of mold. Management did not care when we told them and showed them the bedbugs. Didn't even look worried. All they said was " you brought them in yourself". The bathroom had gunk in the sink and the day […] we checked in the bed had hairs in it. Note I say HAIRS!!!! Disgusting. Sale rate or not I did not count on my daughter getting bed bug bites all over her body. Read more

"Happy Day Inn- a good value for an economy hotel"
I spent one night in the Happy Day Inn before I was to start work in a new city. I was pleased with the comfort level of the room and the friendly front desk service. I was also pleasantly surprised that there was a basic kitchen in the room with ample fridge space. Only hiccup was when I went to order in some food and the local Boston Pizza said they […] do not deliver to the Happy Day Inn despite their ads being all over the hotel guest book. As well, my phone in my room was not working consistantly which was not a huge problem because I had my mobile with me. Read more
"Happy Day Inn, Burnaby,BC"
Its our 5th or 6th time at Happy Day Inn and so far, not that many complains. The room rates are affordable and as they say, 'you get what you pay for'. If the front desk personnel were just 'friendly' and more accomodating, all is good. Oh would love to have bananas than apples.
"cheap"
this is a cheap hotel--good for those who want to save money and just need a place to sleep
"Top of the line budget hotel"
The staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms were comfortable quiet and very clean. Kitchenettes are completely outfitted and very clean. Overall great experience --- I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a no-frills, affordable hotel close to Vancouver. I will most certainly stay there again when I visit the city.
"Happy Day Inn"
I was pleasantly surprised as I hadn't set my sights too high due to the very economically priced room. It also included a Continental breakfast. Room c/w fridge, stove, utensils, pots, etc. I would recommend as a place where you get great value for your money.

"Happy Day Inn great price for good accommodation"
If you want to have an affordable hotel in Vancouver - this is it! People are very friendly and try to help you any way they can. Clean rooms, clean beds, breakfast is minimal.

"Reasonable"
The hotel met our needs. It is a clean place to stay with pleasant staff. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for reasonably priced accommodations without a lot of perks.
"The price was right and it was clean"
We rented the room as a place to sleep. The bed was flat, the sheets clean and the door locks worked.
"Happy Day Inn - Positive Experience"
Check in was smooth. They do ask that a $100 hold be placed on your credit card however, this is removed if everything is left in place upon your check out. The room was clean. Towels nice and white and clean. Offered a continental breakfast. The hotel is a little off the main road, so a car is handy however, a cab will get you there just a easy. Overall […] a good hotel for the price paid. Read more
"Great price"
Handy location and great price with desk help helpful and friendly.
"Positive"
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Our toilet didn't flush well. That was the only downside.
"Happy Day Inn in Burnaby BC - Breakfast"
The continental breakfast is below par -- but the room rate is very reasonable. I wished they would have served breakfast cereal with milk.
"Simple and yet comfortable hotel in Burnaby"

"Really close to the mall!"
I chose this hotel after reading the other reviews on this site. I chose the room for location and price only. Everything was as expected for the price paid. Showerhead was leaky. Bathroom light went out the last night, and no one came until after we checked out to fix it. We ended up using one of the lamps to light the bathroom. The bedding was stained […] and burned, (we requested a smoking room, and it sure smelled like one!) so was the floor. But the sheets were clean, if not worn. Continental breakfast was small. Coffee, tea, juice, half donuts and half bagels. We did not partake. Staff was very polite, friendly and accomadating, speaking perfect english. Read more
