Silken St. Gervasi - Barcelona

This was a great quiet hotel, on a side street, close to the metro and buses. There were many places to eat icluding in the hotel. It was very clean with nice TV's although, we didn't have any time to watch. I would recomend this hotel to all my friends and other travelers to Barcelona and i would return to this hotel when I come back to Barcelona.

A bit outside of downtown but one block from subway, so 10 minute ride to downtown. Quiet neighborhood, AC very nice especially here, where it's hot. Bidet in bathrrom was nice touch after walking all day. Wifi in room requires re log-in but works well enough. Eateries and small grocer nearby. Staff English speaking, didn't try breakfast due to cost. A […] few blocks away is a park with a great view of the city, and if you don't mind the walk about 5 blocks on the other side of that is Park Guell. We really enjoyed our stay. The metro is really close and only a couple stops away from downtown Barcelona. The room was really nice to come back to after long days of walking. Overall, the hotel staff behind the desk were helpful and friendly. The hours of service and checkout time are a bit rigid, but when the waitstaff refused to serve us a few minutes after the scheduled time for breakfast the manager waived the breakfast fee.

We couldn't have been happier with our hotel choice. The space is very modern, clean, and comfortable. We arrived at 9 AM and were still able to check in despite the early arrival. The staff spoke English and were extremely friendly and helpful with requests such as internet service, extra blankets, taxi service, etc. The room came with two single beds […] pushed together, but aside from that the room was rather spacious, had a nice TV and bathroom, and had a window overlooking the street out front. The hotel is a bit too far to walk to the city's hot spots, but the metro line (El Putxet stop) is two minutes away and a five/ten-minute ride to anywhere you'd want to go. Definitely buy the T-10 pass, which gives you ten rides for less about eight Euros. The surrounding area is nice, although it was a bit empty since we went during the country's "vacation" time. There is a restaurant right next door, as well as in the lobby of the hotel. A convenience store is right across the street where you can buy snacks and drinks. We loved this place! Read more

Very nice hotel, in the city but away from the Ramblas. Quiet neighborhood. Subway only 1 1/2 block away. Only drawback is that there are NOT many choices of restaurants around and most are closed on Sunday.

We requested a queen size bed but only got two singles pushed together. The beds were very firm! I queried the lack of a queen size bed and to be fair they would have moved us. The room was quite small and basic, no tea/coffee tray. The month we visited Barcelona was October 2012 and it was quite warm all week. The first night the room was overcooled […] and we needed to turn the A/C (?) down, but subsequent nights it was too hot and the thermostat made no difference as I was told it was set to 21deg which actually meant it was blowing ambient hot air in from outside - not helpful as it wasn't true A/C but an air management system. The dustmen came most nights with a lot of noise, and the room faced the street which was very busy and noisy. The restaurant was small but the food was quite good (14 euros breakfast). The evening meal was good but started late at 20.30pm. It was close to the Metro, and we would recommend the Japanese restaurant next door. We booked this Hotel based on the great reviews we read on line. If you want to be close to what's happening don't stay at this hotel. You have to take a metro in every day.,my husband and I are huge walkers and we even found the 45 minute walk into the city annoying. In terms of cleanliness, the bathroom was very clean. The floors on the other hand […] felt very grainy. It felt like someone spilt some sand here and there. The staff was overall friendly. On our last night we had to get to bed fairly early due to an early flight out and the hotel had a party going on in the basement. We didn't sleep a wink! It was painful. Our room was also on the main floor which I found inconvenient as we could hear what was happening in the foyer. Finally they were extremely stingy with the air conditioning. We were very hot. It only became comfortable after several hours of being on, but that wouldn't last as the air turned off during the day so we would always go back to a hot room. Wouldn't make a difference if the ac worked but again, minimal ac. Maybe we were just unlucky. Who knows? All I know is that I will never stay there again! Read more

We had a very pleasant stay at St Gervarsi. The staff were very friendly and courteous. All members of the reception and the those working with the kitchen staff were accommodating to our needs. Our first night at the hotel was not very comfortable as the bed was not suitable. Choose this hotel as a quiet base to explore Barcelona from. It was reasonably priced too. The metro is just round the corner which makes it perfect for sightseers. Although away from the centre of Barcelona, it is located in a relatively quiet residential area just a few minutes walk from the El Putxet metro station - a 10 minute ride to Placa Catalunya. There is a small supermarket opposite and a larger one up the road, plus a good range of local shops. We even found a nearby photo shop to buy a new memory card for the camera. There are numerous small cafes and restaurants within a 1/4 mile radius. We particularly liked the pizzeria Verona just up the road from the metro station - not haute cuisine but friendly and welcoming staff with a good range of basic well priced food.
